EagleRootTool - Xperia M2 Lollipop Root Tool
based on iovyroot & rootkitXperia
Hi all!
I'm very happy to announce you that, thanks to iovyroot, and with a lot of help from zxz0O0, we managed to get a new root binary working on the Sony Xperia M2, meaning we don't actually need to use Kingroot anymore to root LBL devices under Lollipop (18.6.A.0.182, and probably 18.6.A.0.175 too) :victory:
Requirements:
Stock kernel, from Sony's stock firmware 18.6.A.0.182, Linux version 3.4.0-gc82e70f based.
ADB enabled
Settings -> About phone -> Click 7 times on Android Build to unlock Developer options, and USB Debbuging
ADB drivers installed (you can pick them from Sony Mobile's website)
Material Terminal, from Yaroslav Shevchuk, if you want to do the root process right from your device.
You can get it on Google Play or APKmirror
Usage:
Download the tool
Extract the files
Execute the install.bat with a double click if you're on Windows, or simply do "sh install_mobile.sh" on Material Terminal (remember to use cd /path/to/where/you/placed/it to change to the folder were you extracted the files)
Wait until the process ends. Your device will reboot automatically
Download: Version 2016/05/31
Please, consider donating (or at least saying thanks!) to the people involved in the project if this tool was useful to you! zxz0O0, Cubeundcube, AleksJ & myself
Special thanks to:
- @zxz0O0 for iovyroot and his help
- @cubeundcube for his rootkitXperia scripts
- @AleksJ for providing copymodulecrc, ric_mod and testing
Enjoy! That kitty is a bad kitty!

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use the install_mobile.sh installer on Linux for PC?
No.
- Can I use any other Terminal app?
No. Have a look at the install_mobile.sh file, and you'll realize why.
- Can I use this with an already rooted device (such as kingroot) to change the SU management app?
Not advisable. Format your system first using a FTF & Flashtools.
- Is RIC working / will I have RW access to System after rooting with this?
RIC is killed by default in every boot thanks to a init.d script, called 00stop_ric, so you'll have RW access to system always.
- Will you port this to other Xperia devices?
Yes, if they decide to collaborate and it's kernel's supported (aka vulnerable to CVE-2015-1805). We'd need the full kernel offsets of that particular device, so that we can look for the ones we actually need.

Reserved

Nice work fella, not tried it myself but beats using kingroot that's for sure. Unfortunately I may never get to try it out my M2 is getting replaced in a few weeks.

I think it'll work on the t2u/c3 aswell.

As it is right now, it won't. I need the kernel offsets from those devices (T2u, C3, E4 users, I'm looking at you), which can be easily get in an already rooted device through catting /proc/kallsyms to a file using > /path/to/your/sd/kallsyms.txt, for example. (more info on getting the kallsyms here). Also, it'd be neat to have the /proc/version and the firmware version installed on the device.
Please remember, the kernel timestamp must say it was compiled before December 2015 to ensure the vulnerability is still there.
Once we got that, I can just add the offsets we need to the offsets.c database and recompile the iovyroot binary, and there shouldn't be any reason to touch the other scripts since they should work out of the box

00stop_ric gets created, doesn't it?
Maybe I dropped the ball on something, can I get the full output of the script?
P.S. The init.d is in /system/etc/init.d, maybe you were looking for it somewhere else.

When the tool finishes its execution, 00stop_ric and 99SuperSUDaemon can be found in the /system/etc/init.d directory.

Yes, indeed that's the folder. The folder gets created, the wp_mod.ko gets copied but the script stops at execution of stopric.sh script and after trying to remount the system. The script stops at that point and no 00stop_ric.sh script get's created. All files get stuck in data/local/tmp/ folder and nothing is created after that. I will try to run the script from terminal but I'm pretty sure that the program can't write on system at this point i.e. operation is permitted

This situation is extremely weird, and uncommon, I would say...
If the ric_mod.ko gets copied, by using dd, then it means the case was chosen correctly, so there's no reason for not creating the 00stop_ric, since it's just about echoing some lines to the file, change the owner, the permission, and that's it, as seen in the pic attached.
May I have your current environment (firmware version, etc)? Was the device previously rooted, and un-rooted to test the tool? Any info is appreciated.

Well I've reflashed the phone since it had some display repairs and I've tried this method to disable the ric and get root and all I've got was the root only. The ric wasn't disabled and the script to disable the ric only by alex wasn't working at all since it had conflicts with this tool. The firmware version is 18.6.A.0.182. The old fashioned way by using kingroot then changing it to SuperSU and applying the disable ric script works without a problem. I will try to reconstruct the problem by giving you the outputs from the script as soon as I can

Root Transmission: the ONLY app that allows you to root other phones straight from your own device!
Inspired by Kos's p2p-adb hacking toolkit (http://hak5.org/episodes/hak5-1205), this app is a pleasant, easy way to root other phones while away from your computer! Just two buttons, Root and Unroot! Connect the cable and root away! It couldn't be simpler!
Even has its own terminal window so you can see exactly what's going on while your phone does its thing!
You will need a ROOTED device capable of USB hosting (USB On The Go), a USB OTG cable and one-click root scripts for the devices you wish to root.
Scripts and their associated files should be placed in /sdcard/RootTransmission/*devicename*/*version*/, otherwise it will not be available for use. *devicename* and *version* can be whatever you want.
Note that this is an UNSTABLE version, and you use this app at your own risk. Occasional force closes are to be expected (though they will most likely not break the phone you are trying to root). Incorrectly written scripts can permanently damage or brick both devices involved, so only use trusted 3rd party root scripts and at your own risk.

I've attached a zip with the files needed to root a Verizon Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535), extract it to /sdcard/RootTransmission/ to use.
Note that since I only have one USB host-capable device (my own S3), no warranty is provided over the functionality of this zip since I am unable to fully test it. (It is a repackaged version of the DebugFS one-click root found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1883984 and thus will only work if the device to be rooted is running ICS, which shouldn't be a problem as of yet.)
Again, this is an unstable test version. It should mostly work, but no guarantees on its functionality.

In order to run the app, your device (the device that is already rooted) must support USB hosting/USB OTG. Most newer devices have this.
This app uses adb and scripts (which you must provide) to root devices. If there is a root method for the device that uses adb, then it will work.
In the case of the Verizon Galaxy S3 (my primary device), the root method for a stock ROM is to use adb to push an exploit that will allow us to install Superuser and the su binary. I believe the Asus Transformer Prime uses a similar method.
If the only root method available involves using a program such as Odin/Heimdall or a manufacturer's phone flashing utility, or a zip must be flashed in recovery in order to gain root, it will definitely not work. In the case of the HTC Sensation, you must flash a recovery and boot into it, then flash a zip containing the su binary as well as a controller app such as Superuser in order to gain root. So the HTC Sensation could NOT be rooted with this.
In the future I plan on building a compatibility chart within the app to determine which phones can run this app and which phones can be rooted with it, as well as downloads for the rooting process. In the meantime, if there is a phone you are looking to root with this, let me know and if possible, I'll craft a zip to use with this.
Updated Root Transmission to 1.01unstable.
Following changes were made:
-bugfix: app occasionally FC'd when closing app
-bugfix: app crashed if scripts directory did not exist
-smaller size (166k, old version was 1.62mb)
-made it available only for 4.0 and up (had it set to 3.1 and up by accident)
Available in first post or in the Play Store.
Keep sending in those bug reports, it really helps!
Also, if you have any new features you want to suggest, let me know.
I'm considering the following so far:
-Downloading scripts in-app
-Nicer GUI
-Help text
Added script for the Asus Transformer tablets (TF101/TF201/TF300T/TF700T) to the first post. It will only root tablets on 4.0 or below.
This app looks promising, keep it up this great work, :fingers-crossed:
Theoretically could this run any script over adb on another device. not just a root one?
one x
Hey does this work with the one x international version?
I believe that in order for the app to work properly, adb must be running as root, so no. It's not possible to use this with a non rooted phone.
HTC One X should be able to be rooted (as well as other devices relying on fastboot), but I haven't added support for it yet. A fastboot binary for ARM is available, so I'll package that into the app for next release. Stay tuned. However, I don't know about unlocked bootloaders and all that on HTC devices, so beware.
I'm also going to take a look at the Heimdall source code later so that you can perform Odin flashes over USB. This means that basically any Samsung phone should be able to be rooted, even without a one click root script.
All this stuff will take time though, and with school still going on it might take some time. But I'm definitely working on it!

Would it be possible to use this app to flash unsecured boot.img and then recoveries? Basically have it set up to download the recoveries and boot.img from a ftp or something? Can we basically just use the host phone as a standard ADB and Fastboot commander? Using regular commands?

That would be awesome, let me know if you need some help testing. I've been wanting to be able to do this for awhile. It would pretty much eliminate the need for a computer when flashing roms on devices that have their bootloader already unlocked.

I yet see a future world in which handset liberation is achieved and spread among users in dark corners of the streets! :silly: :laugh:
Hey there wchill , seems like you are an app dev rookie as I seen some stuff , well you aren't so different from me , PM me , I will help you in your project , btw I have seen a small thing , that the Settings button does nothing , to remove it remove in your mainActivity the lines that say onCreateOptionsMenu , as long as you don't need an options menu !
EDIT : No offence for calling you a rookie , I may have underestimated you , because your work is amazing , but I was talking the Java side of your knowledge , sorry if I offended you !

I know that the options menu is there, but I'm planning on adding to its functionality so there's no point in removing it yet. Don't worry, I didn't forget about it
Also, I only have one year of experience in Java, so my skills definitely are not the most top notch out there. I'd say not bad for being self taught though.
Anyway, in app downloads should be working by this weekend, depending on how much homework I get this week. Did a lot of it today, just need to make the frontend for it. After that I'll work on improving the GUI, because I really couldn't be bothered to spend more than 5 minutes making it what it looks like right now.
Expect an update in the next few days

Known issues, Bugs
There would be many bugs, this is alpha version. But the basic functions are tested and useful.
To name few -
SMS and contacts data backup may not work fully.
Data restore across android version (like ICS to JB) may not work
Etc...
The Mechanism of ADB Commands
Internally, the tool uses all ADB commands. These commands are not hard-coded in the source files but externalized to a XML file.
Open SuviTool\resources\ADBCommands-config.xml to see the details.
A normal ADB command is defined as
Code:
<command type="adb">
<id>COPY_TO_DISK</id>
<args>
<arg name="device-path"/>
<arg name="disk-path"/>
</args>
<expected-result type="not-starts-with">remote object</expected-result>
<exec-lines>
<line>pull</line>
<line>"${device-path}"</line>
<line>"${disk-path}"</line>
</exec-lines>
</command>
This command will take 2 arguments and will run as adb.exe pull "src.path" "dest.path"
A ADB shell command is defined as
Code:
<command type="shell">
<id>GET_PROPS</id>
<expected-result type="not-empty"/>
<exec-lines>
<line>getprop</line>
</exec-lines>
</command>
This command will not take any arguments and will run as adb.exe shell getprop
A command sometimes requires su permissions. Like this -
Code:
<command type="shell" force-su="true">
<id>ENABLE_PKG</id>
<args>
<arg name="pkg"/>
</args>
<expected-result type="ends-with">new state: enabled</expected-result>
<exec-lines>
<line>pm enable ${pkg}</line>
</exec-lines>
</command>
This command will take 1 argument of the package and un-freeze the application.
Further more, the shell commands will be sequenced - means they can be executed in sequence.
Code:
<command type="shell-sequence" force-su="true">
<id>CHMOD_RWRR</id>
<expected-result type="not-empty"/>
<args>
<arg name="file"/>
</args>
<seq-command id="CHMOD">
<command-arg>644</command-arg>
<command-arg>${file}</command-arg>
</seq-command>
</command>
This command will change the permission of a file to 644 (rwrr) by internally executing CHMOD command (which is defined as shell command in the same XML file)
Cool!!!!

Customizations
Add build.prop tweaks
You can add you own build.prop tweak which will reflect on the UI build.properties editor tab. You can use it in your development.
Open SuviTool\resources\Build.prop_tweaks.xml file and follow the procedure
Code:
<tweak category="__This will be the tab name on the editor__"
description="__This will be property header (name)__"
show-props="true/false __This will show/hide the actual property text form UI__">
<property id="your.build.prop1"
type="string (if text values), toggle (if ON/OFF type)"
defaule-value="__default value__"
on-value="__true/1/on or whatever for toggle__" off-value="__false/0/off or whatever for toggle__"/>
<property Repeat the property tags/>
</tweak>
For example, to add the Bravia engine tweak under the 'Addon Packs' category
Code:
<tweak category="[COLOR="Red"]Addon pacs[/COLOR]" description="[COLOR="red"]Bravia engine[/COLOR]" show-props="disabled">
<property id="ro.service.swiqi2.supported" type="toggle" defaule-value="true"/>
<property id="persist.service.swiqi2.enable" type="toggle" defaule-value="1"/>
</tweak>
It will be shown as

Finally you posted the tool. Every time while viewing your signature I was wondering that where have you posted the tool that I am not able to get. So this was the project you were working on Sir. Or there is some more surprises for us.
Just Downloading it and will review it in few minutes, though for full review we need at least two days time.
BTW It seems to be great like SUVI-Heart. Let me find out more from it.
Thanks for this awesome work. Not in a good position or I will surely prefer for donating you.

Sir,
I must say its a hard work of yours -- SUVI Universal Android Tools
Truly you are genius of Java Sir. First Thing to say, seriously everyone will love using it. But Sir, you are kicking the apps like ROM Manager, Rom Toolbox and other root apps doing same and killing mobiles spaces.
The UI is wonderful. Was thinking, that if you could do something to Dsixda's Android Kitchen's UI also. Personally felt.
The works and intial ornaments for build.prop tweaks are good for a noob like me also. Through that I managed proximity sensor of the 4.2 ROM and its working. Then rebooted through the tool. Everything I found to be great and after all its a SUVI-Heart Tool. Got something I will never skip using till the time I will be in this Android.
Once again I will like to thank you for the awesome work. Just great to have it and feeling like a dev after using the build.prop tweaks from that.
Bug :-
I got this while starting the program every time but it works cool and no effect on tool for this error.
"The program can't start because MSVr100.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem."

Error:'Tar' is not recognized as an internal or external command. And also 'cat'.
Where do these commands exist? are they exe files present somewhere in the java jdk folder?
Before you ask. Yes i have installed java jdk.
Do I have to setup the environment variables?

The bat file you've careated is unable to find 'tar' command. Is it necessary that i place it in a particular location like c drive as such.?

suggestions?
EDIT: I used the cygwin terminal to concatenate [cat] the tar files and i was able to open them combined file via 7z and winrar.
code: cat data.ext4.tar data.ext4.tar.a data.ext4.tar.b data.ext4.tar.c > datafull.tar

you know, this is an excellent utility, will come handy....what I always thought about is, converting andbackup files into flashable zip - say using your tool, you extracted, and then remove or add or made some changes on it, and then converting to flashable zip..., if you make an ultimate utility tool, imaging that you did nandroid backup of your stock ROM with custom recovery, having a tool to extract it (your utility), and then if you wish deodexed it, and then last step put all into CWM flashable zip....now if you combine all this steps, you will end up ultimate best utility tool ever... thank you for your great idea which is very worth
i had finally made that tool which has options like
1. extract data
2.extract system
3.deodex/ signed zip/zipalign
4.odexed /signed zip/zipalign
5.image file extraction
6. signer
7. odex/deodex invividual
the odex/deodex have different options like
if you extract the system file. it ask an option to odex/deodex . if you need to deodex that it will continue to deodex / zipalign/ signed which will be worked. and same as with odex..
if you dont have any imagefile extracted . there is an option that you can pull from the device and works as same above process
you can sign the zip/zipaline individually as per needed.
hopefully it works on all devices like ( sony, lg, samsung and almost all )
no specification of roms ( every rom is supported )
works for all version of android ( from 2.2 to 4.4.4)
thank you @jazzespresso for this idea
going to post as soon as possible

yeah making it work for all devices going to be quit challenging, there are, as you may know, too many odex/deodex tools here in XDA, but none are bug free. In fact, I always end up some kind of error during deodexing, so this part is always painful process no matter what devices you have, and you know people using Windows, Linux, Mac..etc, this puts more complexity to entire process.
but you have to start from somewhere, right?
hopefully, this process of yours grow into some nice utility that combines all other tools into one.:good:
Needless to say, good job and very much appreciated releasing it here in XDA community!

Introduction
This Utility adds option to right click decompile, compile options for some extensions (like apk, img, dat, br, file_context.bin, payload.bin) so that you don't have to open any kind of kitchen again and again move files there and select options to unpack. See screenshots above you will get an idea about what is it..
Also it's not a separate tool it is a part of ADK. Read Installation and download instructions from below and check 2nd post for usage instructions.
And yes the main part since ADK kitchen is not completely free it works for only 7 days as a trial after that you will have to use demo version which has certain feature disabled. Not to worry this utility will work fine but there will be a pop-up notifying to buy license.
What is ADK?
Well if I've to say, ADK (Android Development Kit) is a complete Windows based GUI application which allows you to edit Android apk files, ROM zips, boot or recovery images, Android Firmware and also to create TWRP/CWM flashable recovery zips easily. It's like a complete Android Kitchen with lots of mods, patches, scripts, templates, rich text editor, etc. like an IDE. For more info visit official thread here.

Well I need some more info on this issue a logcat or something else. From your info I deduct following things like!
1. Your ROM might but using sparse image not ext if that's the case convert the image and then flash.(since sparse image omits some empty blocks)
2. I need to know the original image size and new compiled image size (if you have not made any changes then how much difference is present in their size).
Also let me know if you are flashing the new image using sp tool (for mtk devices).

As discussed with the moderator this is part of ADK which is free to use even after trail period https://www.google.com/amp/s/forum....adk-android-reverse-engineering-t3803044/amp/
So if this is not working try original ADK which works after expiry date

This method is based on Amazing Temp Root for MediaTek ARMv8 by diplomatic
Clever work that give MTK-soc devices a bootless root ( Root remains until reboot ). And lucky enough it works on our Nokia 5.1 Plus
So to begin :
-Grab diplomatic lastest mtk-su.zip in Amazing Temp Root for MediaTek ARMv8
- Follow instructions from Bootless root with Magisk and MTK-SU
#You can install Magisk Manager from the magisk 18.1 package, or any version below 7.1.2. Lastest version of MM doesn't work.
And your device should have root permission.
Hi stizzir,
Great post I've tried it and it works.
The only problem I had is that you can't use the latest version of Magisk Manager you
need to use the 7.0.0 version if not Magisk manager won't open after running the suboot.sh script.
I was wondering if with this we may be able to get full root and also turn the notch on and
off on devices that don't have the Full Bezel option in Display Settings or Developer Options.
Best regards,
voidRunner
I tried it as well and it works. Thanks for letting us know I've been checking these forums every week waiting for something like this. I also used Magisk 7.0.0 inside the 18.1 Magisk zip. Latest version didn't work.

I don't think full root can be acquired since there are still no Bootloader unlock solution yet, really looking for that. N-tool devs are working on it and they said X5 unlock is coming soon. But the bootless root work fine ! couldn't complain anything, it's basically a rooted device.
I tried Adaway it didn't work first time but worked second time, After that it would not work again no matter what I tried, says not enough space on partition. I checked host file when it worked and it had changed. Titanium backup worked, SD maid worked. Looks like I was wrong you can't edit or delete anything in system folder.

This is just a temporary solution so don't expect much out of it.
The doors will be open once the Bootloader can be unlock
Yes I know and I'm happy with it until we can unlock bootloader. Hopefully they can find a way soon but this will do until then.
Can someone else with this phone try Adaway to see if it can edit host file or delete a system app like Google drive (move the app file in system/apps replace it after tested) ? Just want to see if I'm only one that can't edit system folder.
Edit: It's okay I just read that you can't modify System/Vendor partition unless boot image modified. Will have to wait until bootloader unlocked.

Man i just can't wait for the Bootloader unlock. Nokia obviously doesn't want to offer a official unlock service ( at least for now ) since the android one line-up is meant to be as stock as possible. The company also promised to support new Android One devices in the next 3 years, so allowing Bootloader unlock will work agains their product course i think.
I have seen many attempts from the community however, and i have trust in them, many devices get unlocked by a unofficial method so.... Wait for the good news.
@stizzie I can't wait, hate having a device that I don't have full control. I've asked Nokia on there forums and signed a partition that is closed now, That's all I can do and just wait. I read somewhere that Nokia will allow it soon but who knows how long. Hopefully someone finds another way soon.

Just follow instructions in the provided links, you should have root permission. Applications working or not really depends on your device so it won't hurt if you try it yourself.
Device is Nokia 5.1 plus?
And sir can u tell me where I have to paste mku-su file? In the pc
I got OTA update today while this thing was running so no OTA issues.
Just 2 warnings:
1) Don't write even a single byte to system partition or boot partition.
2) Don't expect Netflix etc to work since it breaks CTS profile and basic integrity. Banking apps etc will whine for rightful reasons too.

It doesn't let you do anything to system or boot partition. I tried editing and deleting and doesn't work. Have to wait until bootloader unlocked.

Doing this won't kill OTA, right?

If you (by chance) are able to write a single byte to system or boot partition on this dm-Verity enabled device, it won't boot and will need service center.
That changes if bootloader can be unlocked of course.

Okay thanks for the info. Guess I was lucky that you can't do anything. I tired to delete a few pre installed apps and edit the host file. Looks like this is as good as it gets until we can unlock bootloader.
