Charging problems - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear users, for a while when charging I’m getting between 100 and 500ma ( if I’m lucky) and not the fully 1000ma.
I’m running on COS 13 from this thread here.
In the beginning I thought it could be something with the charger port (because I dropped the phone while charging). but after replacing the cable I still have the same results .
I hope you guys have a solution

I have the same issue for a while.. but i know what is causing my problem . If i use non-OP charger or car charger or ext battery and continue using phone while charging , it is showing only 300-400 max (usually 100-200). Then even if i switch but to orignial OP charger , it is charging same rate. To get but 800-900 back , i have to reboot it. If i keep using only OP charger, i don't get any problem at all.

Car charger charges phone very slowly

Hi, i was trying few microUSB car chargers and I couldnt use my navigation due to slow charging (so phone was down in few hours). I bought griffin car charger with 2 USB ports with 2100mA and the problem is still there.
I read about this little bit and i found that shorting data pins will help. But they had "charging (USB)" status and I have good status like (Charging (AC)" mode, so this not fit to me. There is any other fix to fix the problem?
You need to find a car charger that has more power. I had the same problem whilst using Google Maps and streaming music with Spotify. The screen brightness was on max and the charger did nothing but slow down the depletion of the battery.

I think 2.1 A should be enough and I have tried few chargers. Standard original wall charger is 500mA.
I use only Google maps with screen around 40% and battery is going down. Without gps and screen on it charging something like few % per hour (similar for usb charging
I had same problems with a good "branded" charger. After replacing it with cheap one just for testing purposes, my problems were gone. Those chargers are not always what they say they are.
OK there is any way to change battery current while charging USB and AC?
here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23616565&postcount=5 ( "10)" ) i found that is possible but that topic and kernel is not for desire S. There is any solution for us?

[Q] Nexus 5 and wireless charging.

Hi Guys,
I have a nexus 5 and I noticed that my LG WCP-300 continue to charge even when the battery is full.
The charger works fine with my Nexus 4, it stops charging when the battery reaches 100% capacity but not with the N5.
I'm wondering will it affect the battery if I keep it on even tho the device says "Charged" ?
Thanks in advance
Interesting. My Nexus 5 just arrived and I'll be curious to see how my LG WCP-700 charger handles charging the Nexus 5 when i get off work.

I think they finally fixed the wireless charging. My N4 would stop then drain down then start charging again. I never knew if it would be fully charged when I took it off the charger in the morning. I'm certain the battery will not overcharge.
Off topic, what is the use of wireless charging other than not using a wire to charge ?

That is pretty much it, it just save you plugging the wire.

Apart from the convenience of just putting down your phone to charge it will save your USB port from damage so if you need to fastboot for repair / warranty / general flashing you know it will be in good condition if the time comes. My galaxy nexus USB port broke, plugged in the charger and noticed it wasn't charging after a while and plugged the plug to see smoke come out the port and the phone was very hot! It may have caught fire if left. So now that phone has a dead battery, luckily its removable so could be charged separately with out the phone. The screen would turn on and drain battery too. I'd fully recommend getting one if you can, I intend on getting one in the future.

I aslo have the WCP-300 with my Nexus 5. I am experiencing the same thing.
I wonder why they changed the charging. I know my Energizer Qi charger also does this because the charging light always stays lit blue.
Wireless charging on Energizer
I have the energizer charging pad and noticed the same. My Nexus 4 would stop charging and if it fell back to 98% would charge again. The Nexus 5 just stays charging at 100% and I have read that it can damage the battery overcharging like that. Can someone confirm that for sure?
nothing on this?

Not unique to the charger

Just for the sake of clarification. The same thing occurs with the Nexus 5 using the Panasonic QE-TM101 which (as above) worked flawlessly with the Nexus 4. So it appears to be the phone (not the charger). And in spite of people assuring us that this won't damage the phone (battery), I can't help but think that the heat can't be good for the battery and if it wasn't "actually" charging after it hit that 100%, then what's generating the heat (it has to be actively charging to create that heat). I plan to do some controlled tests to see if the same problem occurs with my OWL (Qi compatible but not Qi certified) chargers, and see if the charger is cycling on and off during the charge period or staying in charge mode. But every time I've awoke in the morning the Panasonic charger has actually been charging (charge light on) with the handset very warm.
I'm afraid that if it's not cycling then over the long haul the battery (or possibly the phone) may suffer ill effects due to the consistent heat.

[Q] Charging Too Slow Now

I have had my Verizon Galaxy S4 since February of this year. I've been using the stock Samsung AC charger that came with it. It's always charged the phone pretty fast if I wasn't using the phone. It would charge about 15% in 20 minutes. Now it's only charging about 3 or 4% in 20 or 30 minutes. Now I didn't do anything different to my phone. I've been on this same ROM for over a month and this is just now a problem in the last week. My wife has the exact phone and charger that I have and when I use her charger it charges just as rapidly as mine used to, so I know it's not the usb port on my phone itself. I haven't dropped or damaged my charger at all in any way either.
Does anyone have any ideas about why this is happening?
If it charges fast on you wife's charger you've pretty much answered your own question.
Try using her cable with your charger, if it still charges slow then get a new charger.

Ok, I'll give that a shot. Thanks.
I had the same problem too ! Did a full battery reset and everything is going good now !
You have to charge it for 12 hours and drain your battery until your phone don't boot. Charge it and here you are !
Yeah these devices act funky every blue moon. My wifes didn't even recognize ANY oem charger for a week. Only detected others as USB devices causing slow charge rate. Removing dust, component cleaner, fresh install, all did no good. Eventually it just resolved the issue itself. All chargers work normally again.
change the usb cables
I also had the same problem before. I'd been using the original charger and usb cable and noticed that charging takes a lot of time than normal.
I found that it's on the usb cable. I accidentally found it when I used gsam battery monitor. It displays the current being received by your phone when charging. Using the original usb cable, it only gets around 600mah. I tried another usb cable (from a previous Samsung device) and now my phone gets 1,900mah (closed to the charger output of 2,000 mah).
Every since I changed the usb cable, my charging is fast now. Hope this helps.
I would try a new cable and Charger that is rated 2.1 amps or better if will be charged real quick

I noticed that using the Pure Nexus rom my charging time became significantly faster. In fact I can get a full charge from nearly dead in just over an hour. This is using the charger and cable that came with the phone.

MT tenso
How do you make full battery reset?
The charging rate is based on the output rating of the charger, which is determined by the resistance value between the Data+ and Data- USB pins. If you use a cheap cable with high(er) internal cabling resistance, that will throw off the detected charger output capacity rating, and knock you down to a lower charging current and longer charging time.
Also, one time, even with the original charger and original cable, I couldn't charge at anything more than the default USB 500mA. I ended up having to power off the phone, and power it on again, which fixed the charging current and speed problem.
Install this app & check if it is getting charged at max current; anything less than 1200 mA when screen on & 1900 mA when screen off, you need to change your cable or charger

I read somewhere that if you activate airplane mode the battery is charging faster.

Slow charging problem

Hello all,
Since yesterday I have this very strange slow charging problem.
Yesterday I charged for a little bit my Mate7 from a car charger. The charger works and the cable also, used it to change my note3, note4, oneplus one and never gave me any problems.
I charged it for 10-15 minutes from a car charger which for a fact I know that it's working properly. This morning the battery was 8%.....I'm changing it for 4 hours and the battery is only at 55%?
Anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on what's going on?
Please help
Root charge again
Why should I root it in order to charge it as before?

Always use charger 1.8A.. (original huawei) or 2A (samsung one)
in car u have cheap rubbish charger probably NOT even 1A..
I use 2A .. at home ..
Get proper quality car charger..
Yeah well, it charged my note 3, note 4 and OnePlus One without any problems..... So obviously it's not the charger...

Are you able to solve the issue. I am also facing same issue. I have changed charger , factory reset the phone but still its charging at extremely slow rate.
Same problem here. Has anyone a solution for the slow charging? I just charged for over an hour and it went from 22% to 25%. Original charger and cable.
Exactly same problem .
I have changed the firmware to official lolipop 5.1.1 but there is no difference.
Start charging at midnight and at 7 h am, 40% battery!
The phone is charging but if I must charge for 24 hours , this is a big problem.
This problem is only on Lolipop or same on Kitket?

I don't know but i am in lolipop
i think it is only Lolipop problem,i have the same broblem ,but not every time to slow charge.
Buy yourself USB power monitor on ebay or amazon (they arent expensive) to see how much Amps is getting through. I had three different cables and only one of them charged with 1.7A. The other .085A or 0.99A.

Please check if your data cable works when you connect your mate 7 to pc? By it I means if your device is deted as media device or it only charges ?
This problem used to happen with me .. look
the problem isn't actually the charger itself, it's the USB cable. It needs to be a genuine USB cable that came with some phone, I use a samsung one that came with a note 3. borrow one or get it, or get a full charger.
those USB types work
- HTC , Samsung , Huawei
But first, You need to get a samsung charger 5V >> 2A " you just say to the seller, Samsung fast charge capable charger"
my Huawei y6 is now slow charge from 50 to 100 it take around 3 hrs . i use the original charger.what could be the reason ? And how to solve this ?

LE Eco Le1s battery not charging when the handset is on but only charges when off

Hi Friends. I have this weird issue with my le1s. It's only charging while it's off. please tell me if any one of you would know how to address this issue and what might be wrong with it. Thanks in advance.
Are you using the original letv charger and adaptor? This issue usually pops up when the charger that you are using delivers very less current. So when you power on, it charges in a higher speed and may be the cable/ adaptor is not able to deliver enough current. Please check and let know if a new cable/adaptor fixes the issue.

That's a good point. I did buy a replacement cable as i had lost the original one...I'm not sure about the adapter being at fault...will need to get a new set to see if this fixes the problem. worth a try though. appreciate your inputs. :good:
Just make sure that the replacement cable is of a good quality. I'm using mivi cable and that's pretty good. Can be found in amazon. Happy to help. Cheers!

Please use original charger if you're using original cable because our original cable needs 12v output if you're using another charger then don't use original cable instead use a Type-C connector along with usb 2.0 charger it will surely charge your mobile while you're using it.
I'm too facing the same issue ,I'm using original charger and adapter with latest os version installed

Like all the other replies say you should have a good cable. But your mobile should charge even when it is switched on. Maybe too many apps are running in background, due to which it is not charging fast enough to notice.
My le1s is charging but when i put my phone in charging at 11:30 pm at that time my battery was 12 and my phone was charging but when i sawed at 9:00 am the battery was 9 percent please help me!!!
hi my le eco 1s charging only in off mode also the c type pin working one side only.
hi my le eco 1s charging only in off mode also the c type pin working one side only. over heating while charging. after 100% charged, it remains 100% till it gets on. once on, it got discharged fully with in hour.
