Camera not launching on first press of shutter button - Xperia Z5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone experienced problems with the camera app not launching when pressing the shutter button the first time and it will only launch only after pressing the button a few more times? This seems to happen when the phone has not been used for a while. ie. not turned the screen on for a long time.

Yep, I have a few issues with the camera app loading!

Oh bugger! the camera performance on my phone is pretty bad but nothing like what you're describing. I know it's a last resort but presumably you're on the latest software, have you tried hard reset?

It's not as bad as I described all the time, just frequently... always seems to be at important moments tho!!

I know exactly what you mean. It's the same for me whenever I need to take a picture quickly the phone always freezes!

[Q] sensation camera app crashing?

Having done a search & a bit of a google it seems the default HTC camera is prone to crashing on other devices, it's happening on my new UK voda sensation.
The camera works for a few minutes, then crashes to a black screen. If I clicked it again the screen brightens but the camera app does not run. A reboot seemed to fix this the first few times, now even after a reboot the camera app will not run.
Anybody got any ideas on how to fix this, if at all?
Same, its starting to get really annoying!

Strange, I know a lot of people experience this issue but the camera app has never crashed on me even once. It's very stable from what I can see. I've taken lots of photos and 1080p videos too.

Is geotagging an option? Do you have it turned on? If so, try turning it off. Just a thought.

Nice one! That seems to have done the trick, certainly hasn't crashed again since turning off geotagging. Thanks for the good tip.
I hope this phone gets unlocked soon, the voda rom is pretty good so far but I doesn't feel like half the phone it could be with the right tweaking and optimisation.

Cool! Just a wild guess. I'll try to remember this if I have the problem.
Actually that brings up another possible issue. Have you used GPS much? I'd be interested if that's working ok. Good GPS is one of my key requirements. Thanks.

I've got geotagging turned off, have had all along. Looks like there's a temporary fix then!
I haven't used GPS much. I have a little and it does work, but I will try to test it a bit this week, see how long the signal holds up on a journey, that sort of thing.
I'll let you know ;o)

[Q] Power button working strange.

you mean when you wanna wake up the phone/turn it off? do you feel i slight click when you press it?
When I want to wake it up I just need to press hard and it works.
To turn the screen off a lot of the times it turns off and lights up again.
I do feel a slight click when I click it but it seems that I need to press it harder to make it respond.
Sometimes I feel the click and it doesn't seem to receive it.

would you open the back cover and try pressing it directly? you might not find it quick, but it's up there. does it respond normally now?

i fear there's a problem with the button then... if you're under warranty that shouldn't be a big issue...
The problem is that my screen broke a week after this problem started and I'm pretty sure fixing my screen will remove the warranty :-\

can't both issues be taken as one and fixed the same time?

because it will cost more I though maybe before I send it for repair I'll try and fix this one by myself (repairing the screen seems like a lot of work that can mess up my device for good...
hey man, read through this thread?

also check this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271185
as it seems, this issue is software related. i'd suggest you to flash a custom ROM and try, but you need to take the phone for repair...that will remove your warranty :/

Autofocus isn't 100% accurate. Let's just hope cyanogen adds an option for manual focus soon because this has been bothering me for a while too.

lollipop flashlight bug

Hi
Anyone having an issue with the stock flashlight app on the new Lollipop 5.0 not turning on
As a person working in IT and with crappy eye sight, this app really is a must for me.
A reboot of the phone will fix it, but by then the need for the light will normally have passed as I'll just ask someone around me for help
Found this was happening on the preview l as well, thought it they have sorted it in the finished release.
Cheers
Paul
What's wrong with the flashlight?
You don't really say the issue you have. but the flashlight works fine for me

Im asking to see if the light does in fact work. If the light doesn't work with the camera either, then your light may be broken
The issue is intermittent and a quick reboot always fixes the issue. I must check the next time it goes, if the camera is broke as well

I have no idea what could cause that. My flashlight comes on every time I toggle it. Tesla LED (I think that's the name of it) is a good flashlight app in the Play Store if you want to try a third party app and see if it works better for you
Yup. I posted about this. When it refuses to work try open the camera app. It'll say cannot connect to camera

Most likely its a camera issue then. The flash LED and the camera software are connected.
Only rebooting fixes it that I've found so far. Seems to happen after using the flashlight for a long time

From what Ben36 is saying, it seems to be caused my leaving the flashlight on for a long period of time. So I would say it's a bug in the system that Google needs to fix. Try other apps like the one I mentioned and see if you get the same issue.

Had a similar issue today, flashlight turned off for no reason, then refused to turn back on until i restarted the phone.
never happened to me before until today and the only difference was that the phone was charging now.
I can say I am also having this issue and hopefully a fix is on the way unless cm does it first...
