Is there anyone that knows a way to root zte grand x max 2 running marshmallow? Maybe I'm being impatient lol
Sent from my Z988 using Tapatalk

Hey buddy have you heard anything on your end I too am interested in rooting my grand X Max Plus 2 from cricket

Nope its been awhile now and I have had no luck yet
Sent from my Z988 using Tapatalk

Lets work on getting a dedicated device thread for our phone first. Then find some devs to work on it. I just bought 2. Z988 from Cricket. I have paypal donations available for interested devs to pick this phone up

Any devs out there?

Mostly to root android m we need modified kernel.wait till some devs do it.

Im goin to check into thiss. Some one else was able to gain temp root using dr wondershare data recovery program. So i tried and also was able to gain very temp root. Of coarse kingroot kingo and all the others have failed. Once we get root i will find many more things we can do such as xposed. Twrp if there is a bootloader unlock or bypass. workaround.
Just sucks i need root to nuke recovery or laf partitions to get to fastboot to attempt bl unlock. Have u been sucsessful in getting to fastboot in any way

using various button combos i was able to get into several different "Scenarios" with several different drivers kicking in according to my device manager. i gave up on this phone. If we could somehow install Supersu while we have temp root that would be great. maybe write s script and run it while drhone is doing its thing, i dont know?

My developer options Cricket wireless, I will crack this root
http://imgur.com/a/g158T

New to forum, I have tried everything to root grand x max 2 with no luck. Really like this phone, but would like better rooted!! So I will continue working on this also.

Well sorry to say, but rooting this is way off down the road. Without unlocking the bootloader, and no that oem unlock does not unlock it, its just the first step to unlocking the bootloader. And seeing as that Cricket has been removing fastboot from their newly released phones we have a real struggle on our hands. I also have the lg stylo 2 from Cricket, and not only did they remove fastboot, they removed the entire bootloader. And without fastboot unlock, that bootloader is useless right now, need another way around. But from what i have read, FTM mode does have a form of fastboot built into it if anyone can figure out how to use. Has anyone had the nerve to take it apart and look for the Uart pinouts, if thats on the mother board thats our way in, Uart means instant rom dump and flash, hacker 101....

help get the root on the Alcatel 5056D tried all the programs on the phone and the computer.root is needed to add volume and clean the android

2.3 rootable? Maybe not? Who knows....

Has anyone thought that maybe google has made 2.3 unrootable? Scary thought i know, but its kind of like a cat and mouse game with the developers and google/manufacturers with root patches.
Maybe google finally will put the nail in the coffin here?
WOOT. It's rooted, im happily wrong.
It's a developer phone, so why would Google want to make devs waste time trying to root.
could it be possible that Google enable root access by default, then?

Definately not.
Dev phones have always been rootable, i doubt that will change.
The phones that have trouble being rooted are always manufacture customized ones.
it's still able to fastboot oem unlock from what i've heard. Will be rooted same day it's available for purchase guaranteed.

I'd bet that it will be rooted BEFORE!
The developer build on my Nexus One is already rooted. I don't imagine the release build will be any different from all of the previous OTAs.

You are correct.
Samsung never locked their (Android?) phones. Personally I've installed custom ROMs on the Galaxy Spica and international S and both came factory unlocked. Unlike with some of HTC's devices you can flash anything you want without using exploits.

Your right, as of now I don't think Samsung locked any of their phones, but the only thing Samsung has on this phone is the hardware aspect. All the software aspect is by Google.

Then how do you explain threads like this (on the samsung galaxy sub forums):
[HOWTO] [REF] [FAQ] [Guides] [Tutorials] Flash/Root/ADB/ROM [MUST READ!]
It seems like you have carrier/sim lock and root confused. Just like nearly every phone on the market, they are locked. You will also need root to do anything that says "please root your phone". They do not ship this way...
I'm sure it will be rootable... Google doesn't want to block out developers
Just food for thought i guess, we cant know until its released anyways.
What exactly is fastboot oem unlock ?

that's unlocked for carriers with gsm...that's not root. Simply meaning it will work with at&t or tmobile by changing the sim card. Root lets you edit system files and a custom recovery to flash roms
Lmao no one so far in this thread should get one of these developer phones as you plainly do not understand what you are doing here when it comes to deciding what the difference is between root permissions and unlocked to all networks.
lets put it this way, if you are one of the above who are having trouble, dream on and steer clear from the prospects of rooting all together
unless that is you fancy yourself a very expensive paperweight?

This command unlocks your bootloader on the N1/N-S allowing you to flash custom roms, but visibly voids your warranty (bootloader screen shows that it's unlocked)

Root method yet for VS987?

Hey guys, I just received a complimentary LG G5 (VS987) last week from Verizon as a means of making up for the Marshmallow update continually destroying my LG G3 and its replacements Anyway, it's a great phone, but I've been disappointed so far to find that there's no root method at the moment. At least not one I can find easily. Do you guys know if there's a method hidden away out there or if a particular developer is working on it right now?
I really hope one comes out soon and this doesn't become another crap phone but so far no. I just upgraded to this phone assuming a root would come soon but marshmallow phones on Verizon are death! Can't wait for CyanogenModbut right now you'll have to wait.
I just got the LG G5 Verizon variant as well on Friday. Was a little reluctant because of possibly not being able to root and unlock boot loader. Subscribing to this thread because I hope there will be support for this soon. Kinda hoping there would be a solution like Safestrap was for the galaxy s5, and then installing an LG version of the Samsung_bootloader_unlocker.

I don't see that at all, since the issue of a locked bootloader remains an obstacle on the G5.
Temp rooting is the solution for that, once we can get temp rooted we can find workarounds to enable unlocking.
Temp rooting has been possible for a many a moon on the G5, but that hasn't enabled anyone to unlock the bootloader
Maybe not yet. But it is plausible that a temp root would grant access to boot loader. If the G5 becomes popular enough LG might do it for us. I heard they've done it for Europe variants but said they don't plan for any other. It might be 3-5 years from now but who knows really. I'm sure someone clever enough will figure out a work around eventually. I work with Arch Linux so I'm not used to being controlled like this. If it weren't for me getting this phone for free, I would definitely have gotten one I *could* root and all.

I'm a new user, so I can't post the link, but did a Google search for VS987 custom rom and came up with this: search4roots.com/how-to-easily-root-lg-g5-vs987-marshmallow-6-0-1/

Hi. My Nexus dumped, I got a G5. Where's the temp root? I will see what I can do for your boot loader. Few questions about the G series I need answered:
Flashing tools used on other variants
Leaked signing tools?
LG G series boot loader format
Encryption on this boot loader
Get me temp root and answer these questions and ill push the locked image here to work on.

You ever get the info you needed? I've heard of people gaining temp root with the 987 but I've never seen the published method or any real evidence of it.
So I'm assuming this is not legit?

No, I don't have a G5 yet. I plan on ordering one in 8 days when my contract is eligible for renewal but I've never owned a phone I couldn't root and don't know how I feel about it. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case with pretty much all VZW phones now.
The ones that can be rooted, I'll need to make other sacrifices on like non-removable storage, non-replaceable battery, no IR blaster, etc. Makes me really appreciate my G3

The G3 is still by far my favorite Android phone. If I could go back to it, I would in a heartbeat. I eventually had mine brick. But this phone has been nothing but a disappointment...mainly for lack of root.
None of the files from that site seem to be infested with a virus, however their instructions are not very clear on how to use it all. Unless I am just not reading it correctly.
Wow, this is sad news indeed. I too have loved my G3, but this is due in large part to me having root. I was considering upgrading to the G5 simply because I expect to see deep discounts on Black Friday, but no root means no thank you. I will have to find another "root" to the future.

LG Harmony - No Fastboot?

Sup people,
I bought a LG Harmony (cricket) as a quick replacement phone and was looking to root it. None of the one click root apps work so I figured I try a computer method. I seen a tutorial to root the K10/K20 (which is basically what the Harmony is so I've heard?) ..so I figured it would work, but I just cant get into fastboot. I tried the vol down thing as well as adb commands and it just won't go into fastboot. Is fastboot patched or something or is there another new method? Using 7.0 Nougat.
Bootloader Unlock
Hello...I have the LG Harmony as well. Just got it. I'm looking to modify the phone as well. Now, I'm a newbie as they say. Although I have rooted phones before, and successfully un-bricked a galaxy s2 a few years back. Anyway, you might go to the LG developer website and navigate to their unlocking the bootloader page. It gives you access to their tool (I believe) and has step by step instructions on how to go about unlocking the bootloader.
I'll be doing that soon myself. Have fun!
I went to the LG site already to look to see if they have a tool for the Harmony but I couldn't find anything. I had seen something on YouTube about a LG root tool as wrk but havent tried that. Let me know if you made any progress. I won't be able to try anything new until after I get off work.
Bootloader Unlock
Try going to mobile.developer.lge.com
There's an Unlock Bootloader option you can click on towards the bottom.
LG Harmony isn't listed under supported devices.

Is it possible to root a device without OEM unlock option?

I am in Canada and recently bought a refurbished Samsung J7 (SM-J727T1, MetroPCS). It works just fine but Im eager to release the d̶r̶a̶g̶o̶n̶ hardware. I've obviously looked around, it seems that it isn't rootable.
So I guess it really boils down to one question: is it possible to do anything without the OEM Unlock setting?
Edit: This didn't work either

If you can't unlock the bootloader then your only chances of rooting the device are to use one of the many universal rooting apps or one of the universal rooting programs on PC and hope that one of them has an exploit that works to root your device model. There are many different programs and there is no way to know if one will work or which one(s) work unless someone has already used one successfully on your device and was nice enough to post how they did it somewhere on the internet.
If you aren't finding any results for your model with google searches, I would say that no one has found a working method for your model. In that case, you'll have to experiment and try as many of the rooting apps and PC programs as you can find, maybe one will work, maybe not.

Locked bootloaders from samsung can only be rooted if an engineering boot that has a root shell built into it.

Is root possible for samsung galaxy model number sm-j337v?

Hi folks. I'm researching a way to root my verizon sm-j337v. So far i've had no luck in finding a way. I've noticed that there is no option for oem unlock in dev options. I'm fairly new to this and have never rooted a phone before. I had an lg phoenix 4 that i was able to install twrp recovery and magisk on. I ended up losing the lg before i could root it though. Anyways i love the challenge of trying to root one so if you guys could possible help me out with this samsung i'd highly appreciate it. Also if you need more info on the phones software etc just lemme know. Thanks
