Samasung SM-G9308 S7 from China needs Google Play Store - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

It's a China Mobile phone that I brought to the United States. I was wondering if there was any way to get Google Play Store onto the phone.
I did a little research online but I have very little experience in rooting phones and installing the apks. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

China's phones are using snapdragon and their bootloader is locked down by Samsung, thus preventing any development from commencing. You can just try to install Google play as an apk, but if that doesn't work I suggest you to return it and buy the phone again from USA.

Looking at the below thread it seems to be possible to flash stock firmware. Although might be worth reading more to see if there is any regional differences that mean its not possible.

S7 everyday use in China: many problems

Hi the community,
Few months ago I bought a SGS7 SM-G930K (Korean variant). I'm almost happy with, expect the battery life which has never been very good, the software limitation with the Korean variant and Samsung Pay which doesn't want to work because of the sim card.
Now I have moved to China and the battery is even worse than before. The services of Google try to connect to the Google server, but it doesn't work here. So the Google services sometimes more than 40% of the battery... Plus the Google Services, the Play Store often crash. I can't use Gmail, Google Maps etc. I don't know why but here the wifi and network reception are very bad.
I don't know what to do, because my phone here became in pain in the neck. The phone is very good, but because of all my problem since I'm living in China, I was wondering if it was not better to sell it and buy a Chinese variant or another phone? Or do you know if I can modify the software to fix my problem? I don't want to root the phone because I'm still hoping to use Samsung Pay on day or to sell the phone.
Thanks in advance.
You could sell it and try a Chinese Variant however I would recommend firstly flattening it and starting from scratch (so full factory reset) and see how you get on

Thanks for your answer. But if I do a factory reset, I won't be able to install any app or synchronise my data again because I can't access to Google services... Of course there is VPN, but I will need 1 week to synchronise my phone again because it's super slow.

Using a Chinese phone in the US without Google store

Hi - i was just over in China and saw a phone i really liked. Unfortunately it does not support google store. Is does support the AT&T and LTE bands in the US though so i was wondering if i could actually use it in the US without Google store? Would anyone know if this is feasible?

Hell yes! If possible buy the Indian version, it comes with pre installed Gapps.
Buy Indian version
I have the indian version as im from India, and its an excellent phone.
Phones from china dont usally have google services installed so i recommend to get it from India, as all services are installed.
Unfortunately I was only able to order Chinese version? I had to go with gearbest... What sucks is they put the Global 845 version up for only 110$ more after I bought the phone. I tried to cancel order but it already shipped.

I'm in the US on T-Mobile (sim1) and att (sim2) no issues although I had to fix apn cuase the auto assigned on did have a couple of settings for my T-Mobile SIM. As for the Google play it's works just fine, just take note it's not certified device so some apks you'll have side load ie Netflix etc. etc.
Vivo account is pretty annoying and so is the default luncher. I switched mine to Nova and got a vivo an account made from the seller I got it from.

EML-AL00 is worth in US or not ?

Hi everyone. I read few post about the EML-AL00 (chinese version). It is right now available for the same price than the international version on Amazon US (L29). But the chinese version comes with 6GB of RAM instead of 4.
I would like to get this phone for my wife but I need to know what will work and what will not.
- T-Mobile 4G
- T-Mobile LTE
- Google Pay
- Android Auto
- Wifi Calling
- VOLTE
- ...
How about updates with that version ?
Basically, as I am not a nerd, I don't want to to rebranded the phone or anything like that, but I do think than 6GB makes a lot of difference in term of fluidity. I know the P20pro could be the the one to go but it's still pricey and the form factor is not the same. THe P20 seems to have a perfect size.
Is your advise is to forget about the Chinese version because it will be a painful experience to use in the US and go with the L29 instead ?
Thanks already!
Hi!
You will have 4G, calling, and all of this, but chinise versions dont have Google Play Services, but you can get Play Store from inthernet, by searching with default browser.
News system will be in Chinise, all of this things will be in Chinise country, nothing for European peoples.
Sorry for my english, i think you understand what i tell you. ?
Hi,
I have the EML-AL00 (Chinese) model and was using it in Australia.
As I'm not in the US, I can't speak for T-Mobile usability. Judging by the network bands it has with T-Mobile, it has bands 2, 4, 5 and 12, but missing bands 66 and 71, so in theory it might work. But I can't guarantee anything here.
However, the device does come with Google Play Services preinstalled, the Google Play Store itself is the only thing missing for some reason. So you just have to install the Play Store apk and you'll be good to go in this regard. The device is Google Play Certified, so Android Auto, Google Pay all work normally. VoLTE was working for me in Australia as well.
Unfortunately, since it's the Chinese version, there are a few restrictions compared to the international variant, such as inability to change the launcher and uninstallable Chinese bloatware . But upside is that it is the first variant to receive software updates; it is currently on stable Android 10 .
I hope this helped you!
