I have a freedompop global sim card in the usa but the sim is based in the uk...
The problem is hangouts thinks im in the uk.
Is there a way i can 'fool' (tell it the truth) my phone to think im in the us?
Basically, how can you have a uk or international sim card in your phone and have your phone think that its a us sim?

I am planning a trip to Europe soon. My wife's Inspire 4G is rooted and unlocked running cm7.2, but not unlocked for different SIM cards.
What do I need to do to have my phone work in Italy, and Denmark. I was just going to pick up a SIM card at the airport.
Do I need to flash a international radio? What provider should I buy a SIM from? Anyone recommend a specific unlocking code provider?

I had mine unlocked by AT&T. It was freee, and worked just fine. I simply explained my need to travel, and use foreign SIMs. Any PAYG sim will work just fine.
If you rooted your phone then most likely your phone was sim unlocked during the process. And no you don't need an international radio.

The radio of original AT & T would work in europe but you wont get 3G speed
as the frequency there is 2100 which AT&T doesnt have in USA.
No need to flashing different radio.
I currently am using my nexus 5 (unlocked from Play Store) on sprint and I will be going out of the country for a couple weeks and want to use a local SIM card when I get there. I have a couple questions.
1) what do I need to do to switch from Sprint CDMA and LTE SIM to a foreign GSM SIM?
2) once I get back in the country what do I need to do to switch from the from the foreign GSM SIM back to my Sprint CDMA and LTE SIM
Just simply swap the sims.
That's it? No changing anything in the settings or calls to sprint? Seems too good to be true. Glad I chose a Nexus!

Sprint dose have a SIM card for LTE on the NEXUS 5.
I just bought a Verizon GS3 on craigslist, but it didn't come with a sim card and in my ignorance I didn't know it needed one. I don't have a verizon account and I want to use this phone on pageplus. So is a sim card necessary, or can I get a sim card somewhere without having a verizon account?
It's an LTE sim card. Not a true sim card. It's still a CDMA phone.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I have no idea what this means. Can I use this phone without a sim card in it on pageplus?

I'm not sure if pageplus uses sim card or CDMA phones. For example, at&t is all GSM (sim card), their phones won't work on Verizon (CDMA) and vice versa.

Pageplus is CDMA, it uses Verizon's network. Without a sim card in the phone it doesn't seem to be able to find a network...but what do I know

You can have this phone on gsm. If you put a normal sim into the lte sim slot you can use other networks. The downside is you will not get 4g or in some cases you wont even get 3g.

So you can 'technically' have it on gsm.

I switched to sprint about 5 months ago and I got my s5 with a 2 year contract. We also got another line with another phone. The account is in good standing with payments on time always. Will Sprint unlock it for me so I can use it on a trip im taking overseas? I'm not sure what their policy is..and I know they do it OTA, so that means I have to be on stock rom right?
Yes stock rom. Sprint more than likely unlick. Of course you will have to mnew monthly charges. But depend sd wherr your going. If going to us territories sprint will work. Just call sptint anf see
They will usually unlock it for international roaming after having the phone on your account for 90 days.

please note that most of the world is now based on GSM and Sprint is a CDMA based service. Once unlocked you would probably need a GSM sim card installed in order to use the S5 (this sim card can either be one from the US, a more expensive option, or a local sim wherever you are traveling to).
In Europe, especially UK, there are many cheap GSM sim operators.

Yeah that's the plan for me to buy a local sim in that country so I can use the phone with a local number there. Do you know what bands the gsm works on?

Depending on the country involved they use 900 and 1800 mainly but the s5 has all the bands used in Europe. Note that T Mobile is a major carrier so you should be ok with this phone if it is truly unlocked
My googlefu isn't turning much up on the dual sim version of this phone, but hardware seems to be almost identical to the standard version.
1)Does anybody know if the international version would work with TMobile WiFi calling? Volte?
2) is the SIM2 slot 2g only or is it 3g? (This would be my att sim card, which disabled their 2g network)

Same questions here. I'm interested in the international version with 128gb memory and 6gb RAM. I want to use two Sims in this phone, one TMobile and one AT&T.
I really need TMobile wifi calling to work out of the box on this phone. Has anyone been able to get an answer on this?
Thanks in advance for any help!
