Have had my Samsung Gear S2 SM-R720 Smartwatch from new for 6 weeks. Last night I got up from my chair, returned to sit down and saw my Watch lying on the chair, could have happened outside the house, anywhere... The Rubber Vulcanizing, or Glue? manufacturing process, to the stainless steel fixing clip had come adrift. I did manage after a while to get the fixing clip off the Watch. Apparently I am not alone with this fault and hope that Samsung has now opened a Data Base on this recurring Design Fault and that it is not a "Water" etc problem.
Has anyone found a more reliable Strap on the market please? Donny5
The non Samsung silicone ones on Ebay have worked great for me. Picked one up for like $10.

Have found another good supplier of Watchstrap for my Samsung Gear S2 , it's MoKo from Amazon. I had a hassle with Samsung, have to book in and return whole watch for a known common fault on the strap link with the Watch.
TIP: Before you connect the new strap put the slighest smear of Vaseline on the oblong fixing hole associated small plunger. I hope that Samsung have a Data Base set up and and are recording all these known mechanical faults.

Just finalized the design for the original Galaxy Gear Full Protection Skin. Next will be the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo & Gear Fit.

ORIGINAL THREAD FOR GALAXY GEAR (FIRST GEN.).
GEAR 2, NEO AND FIT WILL BE SIMILAR:
PROJECT FINISHED!
So after another full day of measurements and trial-n-error ... I finally got a finished product, well a few actually ... well a finished product with a few options lol.
Right now I'm rocking the Black skin on my Gear Gen.1 and it looks awesome! SO clean and sleek looking with just enough chrome to set it off with an expensive luxury look, but is now fully protected on all of its sensitive spots. The clasp protector was originally made because as a graphic designer, my wrist settled and was banged on a desk basically 8 hours a day, and that was my cure to keep my watch looking brand new. The full face idea came just for the option to change the color of my watch, the stainless steel looks great and all, but gets played out and sometimes just looks too much ... But I dealt with it, not really having any time to sit and work the schematics for a full face protector. Then it got to the point where I had to hang a towel over the hand railing of the treadmill because every once in a while I would accidently bang my watch off of it while doing my cardio at the gym, luckily the steel has held up well and I've always had one of my screen protectors on it, so it hasn't really been a big deal.
Now with a finished product in hand and on my wrist, I'm just kind of pissed I "back burnered" this project for so long! lol. As I stated before, I know everyone has kind of moved on to the new Gear 2 and the Gear 1 is kind of old news, But I still sell GG1 Screen & Clasp Protectors on a daily basis so I know there's still somewhat of a market for stuff like this. Regardless, I'll have my hands on a GG2 here soon to play around with and while doing so I will have a chance to get the measurements for this type of product for the new Gear 2 and possibly Gear Fit, neither have a speaker in the clasp, But I know the Gear 2 has a stainless steel clasp, and speaker or not, that thing is getting banged up ugly from daily use. So all the GG2 people, stay tuned because that project is just around the corner.
Since I originally dropped the GG1 Screen & Clasp Protectors at the end of last year I've seen a boom in people selling products like it on web-stores and places like eBay & Amazon, I'm not saying in anyway that I invented these, But when I made them, the Gear was fresh on the shelves and I couldn't find anything to protect the exposed/sensitive parts of my $300 investment, and once sold to the general public they really took off! and I thank the people here at XDA especially for being my "Beta Testers" in a way and hopefully the people who bought them here were completely satisfied! It was extremely shocking that something I made for fun/necessity turned into an actual marketable successful product and doing it literally as a one man team was a bit much at times, but awesome! ANYWAYS! the difference between what is currently being offered when it comes to full face protectors for the GG1 and what I was able to put together is, my skin covers the ENTIRE front of the gear, As far as I've seen on the net, they only cover the top and bottom portion of the Gears stainless steel face (If I am missing any out there by all means piss on my parade lol) mine are designed to cover the entire front for full protection as well as the option to change the look of the Gear all together. Pretty cool I think.
With all this being said, the only real challenge I faced upon finishing the design was getting the skin onto the Gear and on correctly, the material used for the skin is very flimsy and hard to maneuver, kind of like putting a screen protector on a phone, but worse! lol.
BUT! within a few minutes I had a solution, which was actually a perfect solution. Not only did it do the trick of being able to easily handle the material while putting the face protector on, it made it extremely easy to keep the skin perfectly straight and allow the installer to line everything up perfect for a perfect hassle-free installation (when done correctly) so I am pretty excited about it, and when these become available to the public (Very Soon!) that installation material will be sold with the protectors.
I've also decided to scratch selling the Clasp Protector by itself now that the Face Protector is done and they will be sold as a set, overall less confusing for the customer and myself when it comes to filling an order and just makes more sense. But now that I have a few color options available (more coming very soon!) I think I would be willing to mix and match colors/patterns with the Face & Clasp Protectors if anyone asked.
On that note as you will see in the pictures I currently have 4 color options available:
- BLACK (Jet-Black)
- PURPLE (Deeper Purple, Almost Plum)
- GRAY (Storm Cloud Gray, somewhat close to the gray color offered by Samsung on the Gear 1)
- GREEN (Darker, sort-of hunter Green)
COLORS/PATTERNS I PLAN TO HAVE VERY SOON:
The original Chrome/Steel color I offered with the GG1 Clasp Protectors which seamlessly matched the stainless on the GG1.
- Red
- Yellow
- Blue
- White
- Brown
- Orange
- Carbon Fiber
- Leopard/Zebra Print
And any other Miscellaneous colors/patterns I can get my hands on, just to offer a wide variety and the buyer the option to uniquely express themselves.
And now for the new pictures (Better detail and well-lit pictures to come):
SAME ORIGINAL CLASP PROTECTOR JUST MATCHED WITH FACE SKIN.
And just to show off a little bit of the design aspect of what goes into designing something like this:
Let me know what you think! I cant tell you how happy I am with the final product, it looks awesome in person, these pictures show a great representation, but don't do the final product justice compared to in person, the quality and fit make it look like theres no decal at all, looks like the watch came this way! Very happy!
And again, any and all input appreciated!
Thanks!
Hey, I love what you got going on here, I can beta test for you if you want? I had a protective full body skin on my gear from amazon & it sucked ass! I like the execution of your design & the variety of colors/patterns, would love to have one on my gear =)
So do you have an eBay link to your gear 2 neo sets? I would love a carbon fiber skin set and maybe a couple of others. Thanks and great work.

Will the protectors be waterproof? If that is what you are asking, they should have no problem being submerged in water, but I have not tested that, once a seal is made between the watch and vinyl protectors it should have no problem with water.
Oops never mind I thought the case was actually a case
Have the carbon fibre ones been dropped? I was planning on getting one on payday

Hey man sorry for the long delay. can i still purchase the black one for the gear 2 neo? do you have one that covers the gray border of the watch face? doesnt matter either way. pm me the info on the cost and where to send payment. i can leave feedback here when i get it to help.
Bought one off Amazon UK for £8, ended up coming from China, must say very comfy and let's the watch sit better now sweaty leather strap issues and looks very nice. Only downside is the one I bought the paint came off a little the first day.
Anyone any experiences seen the hoko one but it is £25 and looks identical aside from the logo

No experience with the hook one but I got one from China and like it a lot as well. However, it looks like the paint is flaked off in one place. They have been selling these for Apple Watches for a while. It may be worthwhile to check some Apple forums and see if people there have any thoughts about higher quality brands.
Fred
Edited in a July 19, 2016: It turns out the paint had not chipped, it was some dirt that collected in the recesses of the band. I still like it, but it takes some getting used to the magnet sticking to things on my desk, etc.
I'm in the U.S. and ordered one made for the Gear S2 Classic, but it doesn't fit my S2 Classic LTE version.
Ok I just received my adapters from China that I order off of Ebay . I'm not going to say they are complete crap but, I had to mod them just to get them to work correctly.
You can tell by some of the pictures that, I just had to change the metal plate to get them to work. Other than that they are fine so far.

I got the same ones about a week ago. Kind of mad that they aren't exactly the same color as the watch itself but I can live with it. The problem I have is they don't make the clicking noise signifying that they're locked into place, but they actually have been held in place for the week that I've been wearing it. How did you mod them to click into place?

I got a set, and they actually work better than the official Samsung ones I bought from Germany for $47. They don't click in audibly, but they don't slip out with a tiny bit of pressure, either. One of the Samsung ones I got fell apart, and the replacement they sent me won't stay in. Just press down a little and it pops out.
I do wish they matched the color a little better, but it's closer than the silver Casemate ones.
Mine slipped out all the time and never made the "click" sound, as for MOD, it was just changing the metal plated with the original. Today I was able to ride my motorcycle without fear of my watch band flying off. Normally I would have to take my watch off before I rode.
ordered this http://www.ebay.com/itm/131842214105 , but until I have tested it cant tell if that magnet will hold and is strong enough on strap.
Hi,
Anyone replaced their bezel yet on Gear S3 classic or frontier? I have the classic and have got a few scratches and so would be nice to have a new one then maybe try to protect it for future use.
Can't seem to see any guides to diy. Spoke to samsung and they said I could send it in but I image this would probably be a rip off for what could be a simple exchange?
Scratched the bezel within a few days on my Frontier. I hit them with a Sharpie for a quick fix, but it worked so well I can't even find the scratches unless I'm in the right lighting. Not worth the hassle of a more professional fix at this point.

There is a description of this DIY repair over in the Samsung US forum. Seemingly pretty straight forward to do. Would love to see a youtube of someone doing it. The Sharpy marker fixes only work up to a point.
Don't think a sharpie will help for the classic. Sounds easy enough to change it but like you say would be a lot more confident seeing a video of someone doing it
Hey guys, a few months later and I have found this. Thought I'd share...

You can buy some stickers from the internet to cover or protect the bezel.

Hi, I need a new watch Strap for my watch 4 classic.
It needs to be longer in length than the standard Samsung one that came with the watch as I am an ambulance driver and must be bare below the elbow for hygiene reasons.
Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations please.
Thanks
Currently I'm waiting for these both to be delivered to try them and see which is bigger.

Go for the elastic, it's HUGE. When I used magnetic metal bands I had to get the ones that were over 10in max length to get them on and off my wrist without taking the strap off the loop. This elastic one I can get on and off with it at 75% ish not even fully open. It stretches that much, you'll be happy.
Here's some pics of it on my wrist to show you how much is left to open it that I don't need
You need a long band because you job wants you to be bare below the elbow?? That kind of doesnt make much since as a watch fits on your wrist and thats below your elbow to begin with!! LOL! Sounds like you shouldnt be wearing at watch at all but regardless, are you looking for a strap that doesnt slip and slide up and down your arm or some sort of an elastic strap that can be removed easily? Heres what I use as I work construction and with a big fat watch I'm always grabbing on something in a weird position and my watch used to get hooked on stuff and slide onto more of my wrist and I'd always scratch myself up and wind up bleeding because of it. I'ts a big fat leather strap I bought from a seller on Etsy from Poland named Dganin. Here makes some fine leather craft, a bit on the expensive side but well worth it! I bought one for my Frontier S3 years ago and just got another for my Galaxy Watch 4..........
