App problems - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
Wondefing if anyone can help me. I have my tf101 running the most recent katkiss but I am finding more and more that I cannot download a lot of apps. Some just don't open or some say that the hardware is not compatible. Has anyone else had these issues and if so is there any way around it?
Thanks in advance guys

Workaround
Same here. I noticed it couple of days ago, on KatKiss-Lollipop, with Chrome being absent from my apps on Google Play (maybe others, too). It was working, though. Now I flashed KatKiss-MarshMallow and still Chrome is listed as incompatible.
As a (hopefully, temporal) workaround, you can use something like APK Downloader from Evozi (I can’t post links, sorry, but just google “apk downloader evozi”).

Paid apps: Not updating?

I have purchased a few apps from the market. Like the free apps, my downloads will list available updates. After selecting to update, the apps go to 'Starting download...'
Of the 3 paid apps that have updates available, all of them have been sitting at 'Starting download...' all day today. All the free apps that had updates updated without any problems. I tried canceling and restarting the update, but still just hanging there.
Has anyone else had this problem? I have JF 1.43 RC33 with apps on sdcard
Hi,
I experienced this too.
I think it's a google bug.
Email the app develpoer and tell him you can't download the updates for his app.
He may refund your money or send you the update since you already paid for the app.
Don't email the developers they don't have control over the market. Problems must got through T-Mo/Google
I just emailed developer and he sent me a copy of the new download, says there is a bug in the market right now.

For anyone else.
Ok good I thought I was the only one or that they're watching apps that require root access to ID folks with root'd phones (I downloaded Advanced Taskman).
this only worked for me once, but i uninstalled and reinstalled and it worked for me. i think it was for photoslide, but all the others have not worked by doing this.

[Q] Incompatible device?

I've been researching this for awhile and tried multiple variations of the market fix and messing with the build.prop file and still haven't found a solution.
Since Feb 4th, my G-Tablet has been listed on Google Market as incompatible with most applications. I first noticed this with WeatherBug Elite. It used to show up in the market app. When I finally decided to purchase it, I couldn't find it. I tried from the web version of the market and found the app but when I attempt to download it, I get the incompatible device message.
Most other users in this boat (and there are lots of us) have the same issue with many different apps and devices. Quite a few have custom ROMs and it seems like just as many are using stock devices. Google seems to have a deaf ear for this issue. The Google forums are full of complaints and no solutions.
As anyone had this issue and actually resolved it?
*Update: Yes, I know you can side-load the apps if you use a different device not suffering the problem. However, my wife won't let me root her phone so I'm out of luck here.
I haven't used it, but I keep hearing that you can use Astro File Manager to backup your APKs and then get the APK. I don't think it requires root, at least for free apps:

That might work as a work-around but doesn't solve the root cause.
Another work around is "bluetooth file transfer", you don't need to root your wifes phone to package the apps on her device and send them to your device.
I know it's not a true solution to your problem but there us one coming in the form of honeycomb. The issue is the majority of the apps on the market are in fact incompatible with tablets because of the larger resolution.
Honeycomb will fix that and devs will be able to make their apps work for our devices.
Patience friend, the fix is coming.

This whole Market thing is driving me nuts

I'm running the stock "Woot" ROM (which is probably vanilla 3588 with some pre-installed apps, but I can't be certain) and have installed the Market and done the standard "market fix."
I'm able to browse the market, but the website insists I don't have any device. However, the website *does* show things I've installed as "installed." I believe that may be from when I was fiddling with TnT Lite earlier, but can't be sure.
I noticed in a thread about editing build.prop that doing so may break website updating, but I've never had that in the first place. That means that any time I do a market fix or switch ROM's that the Market doesn't know about any previously-purchased apps. I might try risking $1.98 and purchasing something then seeing what happens if I try purchasing it later.
Like others, I'm frustrated by what doesn't appear in the Market that I think should: Firefox and Google Earth in particular.
I think ive found that clicking on a link to an app will open it even if its not found in the search. there was an app i couldnt find earlier but it was there when i clicked a market link to it. installed just fine
If you want Firefox to show up after the market fix is applied you need to edit the build.prop - discussed a bit in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017368
It also will show up before the market fix is applied. I am also having web market problems - no luck there so far.
Regarding Google Earth... never been able to see it in the market. I went as far as searching for the APK to sideload and it simply wouldn't work. Not sure why - it just froze when opening. I am guessing there is some sort of incompatibility with the gTablet...
I recently put cm7 on my moms gtab, and I found google earth in the market and it runs just fine

I never tried to find Google Earth after editing the build.prop. Just did and it was not only in the market but worked great. Maybe CM7 uses a different build.prop by default than vegan 5.1.1. I must have side loaded an old copy before when it didn't work.

Wrong! Paid applications are tied to your Google Account. As long as you log in to your Google account, all your paid apps are available to you in the Market application. However, if you are using a fingerprint in build.prop that Google does not recognize, your paid Google DRM protected apps will not show up; however I believe all ROM's are using a recognized fingerprint (Nexus 1 on TnT-Lite) so we don't have to worry about that.

Apps closing for no reason. Please help!

I have a HTC One m8, unrooted, running Android 5.01, Sense 6.0 on Verizon. A couple days ago, apps just started closing the second I open them. Some apps/games work fine while others just won't start. ChompSMS, TriviaCrack and Facebook are the main ones I'm having issues with. I cannot use Chomp or TriviaCrack at all, while Facebook will open, but sometimes it will close a few secons later, and sometimes I can scroll down for a minute or two and then it closes.
I have plenty of free space and ram on my device so I wouldn't think that is the issue. I also have not installed any new apps in the last few days so it's not a new app causing problems. I have been looking for solutions and while I have found a few other posts on other forums about people having the same problem, I have not found any solutions. The interesting thing I have found that everyone with the issue has in common, is that we are all on Verizon. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the problem apps to no avail. Anyone know what is going on? Thanks in advance!
It's probably the Android System Webview issue that's been going around. It's an app you already had and an update something like a week ago is causing all kinds of FC problems. Go find it, uninstall updates and turn off automatic updates in the play store. You'll probably be in business.
Yep
I figured it out shortly after posting. Now my question what exactly does webview do? I uninstalled the updates....should I just disable it as well?
Whatever it does it doesn't seem to hurt anything short of the last update. I saw the warnings in time and have simply been putting off the update in play store until I see that a newer update doesn't cause problems.
I came across this Google plus page discussing the latest Webview issues. The Webview engineer is reaching out for feedback on the M8
The problem appears to be fixed now, I just updated and all my apps are working as they should.
I posted this originally on here and there are a million separate posts that sprung up after lol
I posted an update that should resolve the issue:

[Q] Sony S Tablet. Google Play

Hello everyone, first time posting here. I apologize is it's not the correct place or if it is a complete waste of time.
I have a couple of questions about the Sony S Tablet. For the past 5 days I have been trying to figure out why I keep getting a "no connection" error every time I tried to install an app from the play store. I had try everything that i could possibly find to fix this problem to no success. I did not have root explorer because I guess i did a factory reset at some point. I have ICS on the tablet which was rooted a long time ago.
Anyways, I tried everything under the sun that I could find and ended up removing the root privilege ( didn't even know i could do that). then after I used the kingoroot PC version to root again. I removed the hosts file under /system/etc and still did not fix my problem. Also managed to uninstall the play store app
Anyways, I am pretty much giving up hope for anything else., however I kind of want to use the tablet just to watch streaming like HULU and NETFLIX. I can use netflix but i can't not get hulu to work whatsoever. It seems that the problem that plagues this app is the same that I had when trying to install something from the the play store.
Is there any hulu APKs around that I could still use as well as being able to re-install the play store? I'm completely out of ideas and by now just want to be able to use netflix and hulu is nothing more.
Any help from anyone? comment or suggestions are very appreciated.
