Hello, I'm BloodDrunk, and newly registered user on this forum. Came here in hopes you can help me.
Ok so, I posses 2 android devices (one kindle, other samsung phone), and I need both of them rooted.
My first device is: Samsung Galaxy Core LTE SM-G386F. It has an android version which is: 4.2.2, and Kernel version which is: 3.4.5-2703877.
I have tried various tools to root my phone, but with NO sucess whatsoever. Every tool threw something like: The rooting was unsucessful.
If you could aid me in trying to root my phone, I'd be very grateful.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The second device is Kindle Fire tablet. It's serial number is D01E 0A0A 2235 00B9, and currently running version 6.3.4_user_4120720.
What I want to do to this device is, root it (which I am also unable to do whatsoever), and wipe it completely out, and load an Android ROM KitKat 4.4.2 onto it. I also tried various tutorials on the internet, and none have helped me in achieving my goal. I do not have original cable that comes with this tablet. I have already downloaded KitKat 4.4.2. android ROM, and Kindle Fire Utility, but I am simply unable to do anything with that utility since it gets stuck on that waiting for device thing.
I am really eager to root my first device, and second, and load android ROM onto that tablet because I need an android tablet.
Could you guys help me out?
Thank you for your time.

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
There is no forum specifically for the HP 8 1401 tablet but you may want to ask your question with all relevant details in the friendly general Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help where members familiar with your device might be able to advise you. Since your device is not widely used, please be patient and give the experts plenty of time to respond.
Good Luck!
Hello! Thanks for reading this!
I recently bought this tablet from Amazon and I've been scouring the net looking for root solutions. Ive tried most of the popular one-click tools without any success. Here is what I did learn, this tablet has a mediatek MT8127 chipset, running stock Android 5.0.1 on a 3.10.54 kernel. The build number is ALPS.KK1.MP10.V 1.18. Ubuntu 14.04 recognized my tablet only after updating 51-android udev rules. I was finally able to execute adb shell successfully. I was able to reboot into fastboot, but not able to unlock it. Some interesting information that I learned along the way....when I plug my tablet into my PC it's seen as a MT65xx Android device, but when it's in fastboot my PC sees it as a HTC device. I had to update adb_usb.ini to recognize both a mediatek and a HTC device in order to reboot through my Linux command line. I contacted Hipstreet customer service and ask for any information that they would be willing to impart to me, but they weren't much help. I haven't tried building any cwm as of yet since my bootloader is still locked. Any help would be great. Any progress that I make I would love to share. If more information is needed about this tablet just reply and I will do my best.
Thanks,
MitMat

I am desperate to find any solution to root. I am considering connecting My Hipstreet 9" Pulse via jtag, uart, or any other serial port that i can find. The trouble is that I'm pretty much a noob tackling advanced level development. Im a quick learner so if anyone sees anything that ive missed pleased let me know.
I am not able to post links yet, but PM me for the address to the pictures.
Thanks
MitMat

Hallo,
First off some details:
I have a galaxy s3 i9300.
I was attempting to install android 4.4.
Due to "error 7" this was a lot harder then it should have been ( the versions of cwm that i could get to work gave error 7 and newer versions did not load)
Eventually i installed philz touch version 6 wich was able to install this kitkat file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=11372
(back-to-n00t_ROM_V9).
However the screen stopped responding, the solutions found using google (take our battery, factory reset, unscrew the back and check a connector) did not work.
I think i got android 4.4 running, the other buttons work fine and i can acces the recovery and the download mode.
During my process i downloaded a kernel of a s2
(https://emilgeorgejames.wordpress.com/2015/03/02/how-to-fix-eerror-status-7-with-cwm-recovery-while-flashing-cyanogenmod-11-kk4-4-4-on-samsung-s-ii-gt-i9100g/)
Which, as far as i can see seems to be the problem, however i dont know anything about kernels etc. i tried installing s3 kernels from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-galaxy-s3-stock-kernel-bootloaders-t2189063) which did not solve the problem
Take note, i am very new at this, i spend some time today trying to get android 4.4 working which is all the experience i have with this subject.
In advance, thank you all for any help you can provide.
I hope i dont have to buy a new phone.

I want to run a newer firmware on my kids android Irulu X7 tablets with the sole purpose of being able to run the playstation vue app on them. They run kitkat 4.4.4 right now. I have an HTC One M8 that was rooted and running 4.4.2 and then I unrooted and did the RUU update to Marshmallow 6.0 so I am a little familiar with bootloader and rooting, etc., but by no means an expert. I do have some sdk/adb software on my computer that I was using with the HTC. So once again my goal is either get Playstation Vue running as is on their tablets or update firmware to get it running. Playstation says that the Vue app supports 4.4 and up, but tech couldn't solve my problem. I solved it for my phone, but their tablets don't have as much info. The app just says device isn't supported right now. I mention Lollipop because my wife's moto x is running that and the app works on her's.
Let me know any additional info you need and I'll get it.
Robert
PS Big thanks the guys on this forum. Got a lot of info while doing M8 stuff from here.

Hi,
some time ago i bought a 50€ chinese tablet to mess with. It has android v4.0.4 on it and is very slow/ has a lot of useless stuff. In my attempt to educate myself on Android OS, I'm trying to build my own custom rom for it using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690
I'm at the point where I could repack my work and flash it to this tablet, but all i've achieved so far is simplified version (less random apps) of existing rom.
I want to update this tablet's android version but I'm completely unsure how I'm supposed to do that and google isn't being of any help as the search results are just bunch of those irritating blog posts that in nutshell just explain how to plug your usb cable into your pc.
No updates are provided by the manufacturer himself (duh).
Do I have to get desired android version's source code and integrate it with existing files or something?
Any help is appreciated.
