1) Download Emoji Switcher from playstore and download the emoji you whant to be on the system (aplying the emojis wont work).
2) Download root explorer or any file manager with root. ( i preferr Root Explorer because thats the one i have) Root Explorer: https://mega.nz/#!0dMzFTpK!cn6wlZlXxxhA5zS_O5t9Db_B0ede9YZpndJT8CxieFI
3) Go to data/data/com.stevenchoen.emojiswitcher/files/emojisets/ and here are the emojis you downloaded, now copy the one you whant.
4) now open the storage or system tab on top, on root explorer you should have two tabs one for system and one for storage, select the one thats not in the emoji folder you where. Now go to system/fonts/ now open the menu and select " sort order " and select "size" now scroll all the way down and paste the emojis you have copied.
5) Now on samsung we have "NotoColorEmoji.ttf and SamsungColorEmoji.ttf " delete both of them.
6) Rename the emoji you pasted to " NotoColorEmoji.ttf "
7) Now go to the emojis tab and copy again the emoji you copied eralier and pasted in the fonts tab.
8) Now rename that emoji to " SamsungColorEmoji.ttf.
9) Now set permissions to " rw-r-r " to both of them and reboot.
UPDATE: if you whant iphone emojis v3 you will have two files on emojisets folder, just replace the 60mb emojis with NotoColorEmoji.ttf and the 20mb emojis with SamsungColorEmoji.ttf
For other phones ( not samsung )
i really dont know but i guess it have to say emoji in the fonts folder and it suposed to be the last 2 files on the font folder since we sort it by size.
feel free to post the fonts and device you have so i or others could help you

here but u did sign up just to personally thank you. As I updated to 6.01 I noticed emoji switcher wasn't working. I absolutely hate the Android Samsung emoji. I followed your tutorial and it's very n00b friendly. I just wanted to say thanks for helping me out man. I would never personally thank someone by signing up to a site I don't use. Well done and can someone sticky this, it deserves recognition and is a major help to the Android community.

Hi All,
By default in Android version 2.x(Gingerbread) Indian fonts are not supported so as a workaround we will be using “opera mini” to view the same.
The procedure given below will enable you to view/type Indian fonts in your android mobile including sms/twitter and blah blah blah…
IMPORTANT:: This procedure requires your mobile to be rooted since it involves placing a tamil font file in system directory.
Guide to ROOT your android mobile can be found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/ ,if you are not successful in finding or not sure of the procedure feel free to get back to me.
1. Download Indian font from this link http://www.mediafire.com/?6isti7ew908mwiy and copy to your SD Card
2. Download ES File Explorer to your android mobile from the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en
3. In ES file Explorer go to SettingsPath settings put a check mark in “Up to Root” move a little below you will find “root settings” In it enable “root Explorer”(you will get a popup asking for root permission just click OK in it) also enable “Mount File system” under “root settings”. <This is done to make sure that “/system/fonts/” is editable>
4. Delete “DroidSansFallback.ttf” present in /system/fonts/ and copy the new(the one you have downloaded) “DroidSansFallback.ttf” from your SD card to /system/fonts/
5. After copying long press over “DroidSansFallback.ttf” select “properties” permissions must be “rw- r-- r-- “ , If not change the same.
6. Now reboot the phone and you can enjoy Enjoy Indian fonts
For typing in Indian Fonts search your respective keyboards in Google/Google Play store, I have given the links for Tamil keyboard below.
Tamil Keyboard https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mak.tamil&hl=en
ThamiZha! -Tamil Visai https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tamil.visai&hl=en I personally prefer using Tamil visai since it is easy to type
Have tested this procedure successfully on HTC Desire S, HTC Widfire S, Samsung Galaxy Ace and Samsung Galaxy Fit.

for opera, it's another workaround. here are the steps:
1. Make sure you have internet connection on your phone/device
2. type "about:config" (without quotes) on the address bar.
3. scroll to the last option which mentions about bitmap images for complex font and choose "YES" option.
4. Close opera. restart opera. Enjoy
To me the emoji font in Jelly Bean is still not so complete. Some icons are still lacking...
You can test it by going to...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emoji
(using your phone browser)
And see how many icons can it display for you. And how many squares/blanks are there.
Anyway so I took the Segoe UI Symbol font file found inside Windows 8 and put inside Android.
So now it is able to display more emoji than it ever could. Compare it for yourself... (And it is bigger and clearer than Andorid's emoji)

How to install (For JB roms only)
1. Download the file attached
2. Extract it out and transfer the AndroidEmoji.ttf to your phone
3. Use Root Explorer or ES File explorer to copy the file to System/Fonts
4. Set the premission to rw-r--r--
5. Reboot
6. Yeah!
It should work for those ICS users who followed...

Thanks mate! I'll try this out.
I did this and most emojis dont show up for me. Even for example when i type and emoji on twitter nothing but boxes show when i tweet it and nothing but spaces show when i type them.
I on on a galaxy nexus 4.2.1 xenon hd ive downloaded the extra dict's and everything. halp haha.
Although this is old. This is pure gold. With the new leak for Android 4.3 T999 - I was able to replace the horrible emojis with these. Thanks man!
----------------------------------------
There is now an app to do this for you on the playstore so this method is now obsolete. However, this is still a good guide for those who would want to learn how this works, or would like to do it themselves instead of relying on an app to do it for them. You may now continue to the rest if the thread if you wish
----------------------------------------
I'm creating this thread to provide the Samsung and LG custom emoji created for their respective 4.4 firmwares. This will change your stock emoji look to Samsung's or LG's system wide!!
The zips contain the ttf emoji file for the OEM, along with a fallback_fonts.xml edit to point to the new emoji file, and should work in any AOSP/CM or similar ROMS. Simply flash one of the following zips in your custom recovery
Scroll to bottom for screenshots!
Samsung Emoji
Download zip for Samsung
LG Emoji
Download zip for LG
in case you have issues, don't have/want to use a custom recovery or have a ROM/firmware other than AOSP/CM, you can extract the ttf file from the zip and manually apply the mod.
To manually apply the mod, you need to edit the fallback_fonts.xml file in your device located in /system/etc with Notepad++ or a root browser.
Search for:
Code:
AndroidEmoji.ttf
and add these lines before for Samsung emoji:
Code:
SamColorEmoji.ttf
or for LG Emoji:
Code:
LGColorEmoji.ttf
Now to finish applying the mod simply push the extracted ttf file to /system/fonts set permissions to rw-r--r-- (very important!) and reboot.
To remove the emoji mod look for the following in the fallback_fonts.xml file for Samsung emoji:
Code:
SamColorEmoji.ttf
or for LG emoji:
Code:
LGColorEmoji.ttf
simply delete these lines, save, reboot, and you will be back to how your emoji was before. If you have any question, need help, or if this thread needs further clarification, reply to this thread and I will try to help out or make edits where needed.
Thanks to:
angelsel, for his work and thread containing info on adding iOS emoji, make sure to thank him too! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2563757

{working greatly on Xiaomi RedMi MIUI v5.0 but i'll not be responsible for any damage happend to phone}
1. Root your phone. (will void your warranty) try this step at your own risk
2. Download 'FX' from market and install root access from within the app.
3. Download 'DroidSansDevanagari-Regular.zip' attached file.
5. Open fx explorer and locate your file, extract it, copy the font, go to #/System/Fonts, then replace {backup this original file} already existing DroidSansDevanagari-Regular.ttf with the copied file. make sure you click on Lock Icon(in top right corner} before you paste font in fonts directory.
6. 'Permissions' should be rw-r-r.(to easily see this,change the view to list}
otherwise long click on copied file, select permissions.
7.after this successful copy operation, again click the lock icon to lock the system files. sometimes it shows an error. in that case, just hit back button, try here again.
8. if not successful in upper step, hit the back button one more time. now if u find the lock icon to the already locked state, unlock and then lock it.
9.exit the app.
