[FIX] Google Play Services force close problem after update - General Questions and Answers

Hello Everyone!
Regarding to the user comments added to Google Play Services app, a lot of people have problems with unexpected force closing the app after last update (9.0.83). It usually closes after opening Gmail, Maps, Google Keep etc. I faced the same problem and tried to restore previous version of my OS, wipe data, cache etc. - didn't work.
I found a temporary solution of this problem - it will probably work for you if you have Xposed and Amplify intalled (like it was in my case).
Some people says that after uninstalling Amplify problem was gone, but the real reason is the "lcing" wakelock which you probably limit by the app. Just try to turn off the control of this wakelock and check if the problem is gone.
Works on my Galaxy S6 (stock Android 6.0.1, SpaceX kernel).
Tell me if it works for you

You are my HERO !!! THANKS !!!

thx dude.. got this problem for almost a month now.. ur solution fix it for me..

[Q] Play Store App Updating Problem & Time Issues

Hi all,
I have a TMOUS Sensation 4G. I was on stock rom then I switched to OrDroid 9.0, but I'm experiencing the same problems.
1) Whenever I try to "update all" in Google Play under my apps, the first app will download, but the subsequent ones won't. It will just keep on showing "downloading" but doesn't actually download. Canceling the current download sometimes works; the next download would sometimes start. This problem seems to be worse on Wifi, but it happens sometimes with 4G as well.
I tried clearing the app data and cache for Google Play but that didn't seem to help.
2) When I'm on Wifi (especially when I'm at work), the system time just slows; sometimes it can be 6-10 minutes behind the actual time. My setting is always on auto-update time. Anyone know why this happens?
Thanks!
Delete play store, clear cache reboot download again and re try, I never use auto update as I'm the one who decides when and where also if I'm going to update
Changes in permissions I dislike and updates that there are many complaints about don't get in
so as you can see I always allow others to check the updates work for me (like you )
Tbo I've no idea on the wifi time issue, try asetting the time correctly and drop the auto update and see
UPdate - there is a differnt post about the time issue and the reply indicates that it may have something to do with overclocking - if you do that so read the copy paste below it may help
It happened to me when I was using the badass governor, even though I was connected to cell.
Switching to ondemand did the trick for me
Thanks for the reply, johnerz. However, I do not have anything on auto-update. I'll try deleting the Play store and see what happens I guess ... just thought it was weird that the same problem persists even on different roms.
As for the time issue, I'm using ondemand as well so I guess my issue is different?

Hi everyone. You know there was bug on 4.4.4 version of nexus 5 were you were opening camera and it said: Camera is currently in use and in battery stats there was procces called mm-qcamera-daemon that was draining battery.
so on internet i read that this bug will be solved on 5.0 version. i have made some tests and on 4.4.4 this bug was caused by installing viber (not some apk. installing from play store)

i have asked my friends if they have this problem. only one of them had this problem but after restarting phone everythings works fine, but on my phone restarting didn't helped.

[Q] [GPS] No GPS with Google Maps, but with every other app [solved]

I always thought I was affected by that infamous GPS bug that was reported for many custom ROMs, but I neither really cared, nor applied any of the known fixes.
Anyway, today I discovered my GPS works perfectly with apps like GPS Test or with Nokias Here maps but with Google Maps I can't get a signal. I checked privacy guard settings for maps, cleaned cache, rebooted and re-installed the app. No luck (see my signature for further details of my device).
Anyone an idea, what's the problem here? Or what else I could try?
Thanks in advance!

That's strange, if other apps have access to the GPS then most likely something is interfering with gmaps and the system. You said re installing maps didn't help. Try reflashing gaaps (this may be due to a Google services error). If that doesn't help, then clean flash your ROM .
Cheers

Reflashing gapps indeed helped! For whatever reason there seemed to be a problem with Google services.
Thanks very much!

Play services crash. illegal argument exception wakelock not active

Few days ago, around the 15th of october I started having every few seconds crashes of the google play services.
The error is java.lang.illegalArgumentException wakelock not active.
The frequency of the error makes the phone unusuable.
Initially I though the problem was because I was on older stock release (KTU84Q). Due to a problem I had with my car bluetooth with newer versions I choosed to keep 4.4.4 stock.
So I let the phone make all the incremental updates (OTA) up to the last one (5.1.1 LMY48B).
Unfortunatelly the problem with play services did not go away. So I did a full wipe and went through the initial install procedure. A few minutes latter, still while setting up the phone the crash came back. Except the ROM apps at this point there are no other apps installed. I notice the crashes happened when play services was updated right after I set up my google account.
The play services version that crashes is 8.2.99. I downgraded to 8.2.98 and I still have the crashes. So I went down to 8.1.15 and no more crashes.
The problem is that after a while the phone updates to 8.2.99.
So the questions are:
Is it only me that has this problem?
How do I fix this?
In any case how do I prevent the update of the playservices?
After little search I found the solution.
I had to enable privacy guard and then enable KEEP AWAKE of Google Play Services.

I too have noticed this issue. I thought it was my phone playing up.... am about to send it back to Sony for repair.
After Factory reset everything is back to normal, also with latest Google Play Services.
