New app launch - General Topics

Dear team,
We are preparing a new app helping people to made easier decisions when they want to buy new products. We need 1000 volunteers to use the free app in order to do the appropriate evaluations.
Please read the following detailed text and send me back if you have further inquiries
Have you ever asked your self what are the various parameters considered every time we are trying to take a small or big decision on our daily life?
What if there was a way to help us make better decisions for products we aim to buy or the things we do?
The answer is simpler than you think. Our decisions are based on only a few simple parameters like price, quality, demand, value and our friends' influence. Actually, these parameters affect more than 80% of the decisions we make every day.
We are happy to announce a new free app for that. Demalis is a highly intelligent but easy to use online tool that will help you take the best decisions, based on what is really important to you/
At the moment Demalis is in early beta. We are providing significant motivations and benefits of the 1000 people that will join us on the early beta. After the first 1000 subscriptions we will close subscriptions for evaluation and testing.
So what are you waiting for. Join for free Demalis and start taking important decisions for your life.
Happy Decisions!

The underestimated Power of collective intelligence

Hey guys,
I have to admit that without all the custom ROMs that you offer here for free I would have sold my Touch HD long long time ago. I see this website as big driver for HTC/ MS to sell their products. (Maybe some people of HTC/MS dont) Once again thanks for your great work and time that your spending on this webside.
Currently I am writing my bachelor thesis about "Social Commerce". One point is about "the lack of firms understanding that collective intelligence and wisdom of crowds is an opportunity rather than a threat".
To show practical examples I also chose this webside. I appreciate if you could help me with some open questions that I have:
1. From which source does the rom cookers get all their ROMs/ builts?
2. Does this site has any special contacts to HTC/ Microsoft?
3. Do you get support in any-form (money, software, acknowledgement) from htc/ ms?
4. Do you send knowledge in any way back to help MS or HTC to improve their devices/ software?
4. What was the purpose for the operators of this side to built up a webside that is mostly concerned about HTC-Devices?
5. In this threat their is a dispute between ms and xda-developers. Does ms attitude have changed, yet? How did the story ended http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?threadid=294142
Thanks in advance for your answers. This forum and some others changed my life and engaged me to buy products. I hope I can contribute with my thesis to support forums like this and to show firms that community like this are a big opportunity rather than a threat
A great way to say thanks to all free stuff you grab here is to make a donation to XDA!!
You are right why not. 10€ for all the fun is nothing.
Great to see your star!!
Hi nobody has any information to me? Or did I post in the wrong section? thanks
A community is comprised of social participants, participants who work to build an environment that is beneficial to its participants. The phenomenon would very likely take place regardless of specific participants; only the quality of the results benefiting all those that participate would decline.

Writers Wanted for Potential XDA Book

Hi,
We're always going to have noobs at XDA. We understand that for mods, devs, and senior members, answering very basic questions is going to be repetitive and frustrating. To partially address this issue, we've always wanted to put together a fun and interesting guide/tutorial/faq for new users to the site--to explain what XDA is all about. The problem has been that--if we're going to do this--we want it done well. We want it to be complete, well-written, graphical, etc. It would be many many pages of content. The bigger problem is that we've never had a budget to pay someone skilled to write it.
A major publisher approached us recently about creating an XDA-branded book that details and explains the world of smartphones, ROMs, etc. Because the publisher would pay for the book to be written (standard advance plus royalty arrangement), we can finally "afford" to create the guide we've always wanted. Our goal would be to make important parts of the book available for free on XDA (as a resource for new users). The only problem now is that we need an author.
Tech books are NOT big moneymakers, but if any long-time XDA member is interested in a fun, paid writing project, send me an email to xda.svetius(at)gmail.com. The email, subject "Writers Wanted", should include your name, qualifications, and a short proposal for what you'd like to cover in the book or how you'd like to organize it. We expect to get a bunch of applications, so don't be offended if you aren't chosen. Note: If you have to ask how much you'd be getting paid, then you probably won't be too excited by the answer . You'll make a bit of dough and be able to brag about being a published author.
Thanks
This is fantastic news!!

I WOULD LOVE TO DO THIS! I have a passion for writing that has consumed my entire life. Please take a look at some of my posts here on the site (keeping in mind that there are a couple of which I didn't put any creative thought into, as well as those containing references to gangsta rap and other adult themed content). In any case, I'd be more than happy to email some of my writing to any one of you who would have the time to review it. I'm currently in the process of writing a memoir, and I would absolutely be willing to share the first chapter to provide you with an example of my personal style. Thanks for considering me!!

[DEV WANTED] small business startup

Hello XDA Devs,
I am a Purdue University Undergrad studying in the College of Technology and also attaining my Certificate in Entrepreneurship. Currently we are working on a business plan to innovate a way large businesses collect feedback from customers. We have small team of 4 people currently working on business details but are looking for a developer to code our app.
Our business is ready to get itself in the game and we want to present to investors. With an app ready to demonstrate we would be willing to use the investments to pay for the code work.
If you have further questions or would like to apply please reply reply to this thread or PM me.
Best Regards,
Max Weisberger
Hi!,
Im am doing something similar, a master in global entrepreneurship. And I am also developing a project of an app.
I just wanted to wish you good luck. I know its hard sometimes but I guess its a really good business for a start up right now.

[Q]Have you ever developed an app? We need your opinion!

Dear developers,
Your opinion is very important to us. We are a Dutch company that provides horticultural solutions and would like to provide our products with applications. Therefore we would like you to support us with your opinion so that we can expand our app platform in order to share it with farmers around the world and increase food quality.
We are setting up an app-contest and to do that we would like to know more about (IT) students and/or freelancers. We have listed a couple of questions and would be very pleased if you could answer them. The link is given below and it will take less than 5 minutes.
thesistools.com/web/?id=326847
Within a short term we will start the contest. You are welcome if you would like to participate. You can even let us know what you would like the first prize to be. Feel free to contact us on [email protected] or visit 24green.com.

Programming help needed: questions for the XDA Community

I’m looking for an Android programmer to help with crafting & tuning our UI / UX and writing client code to test out our authentication and application specific API’s (JSON/REST), that are currently in development. Java proficiency and a willingness to learn Xamarin.
Q1. What’s a reasonable $$/hr. should I offer?
Q2. Is it reasonable to think I can find someone with these skills that’s comfortable to work with loose specifications and contribute their own creativity, or will most people want a formal detailed specification?
Q3. If we work well together I’d like to ask them to join our start-up where their contributions to the company would be treated as capital in exchange for ownership (stock). Can I expect that talent like I’m looking for will generally want to run their own show?
Q4. Where can I find this person?
Thanks !!
Re:
It depends on deadline time, complexity of your application and experience of the developer. Your question does not explain about any of those specifications.
Fair Enough

Thanks for the response GenieKnudson. In a perfect world I'd like the work to start right away. Initial work is on the user interface / experience. Next would be code to exercise & test the API's we're currently working on in Microsoft Azure, (REST/JSON API's for authentication, permissions, picture processing and proprietary). Then work on the application itself. So I could pay a code monkey to do what I say then go away, but the nature of the work requires collaboration and creative input. Instead of a mercenary I'd like to find someone interested in joining the team. As for experience I'd trade years of coding experience for good knowledge of contemporary tools, architectures & design.
Our startup is too young to afford a full time employee, but we have money to pay for services, and the potential of employment and partial ownership in the business. I’m very confident in our business prospects as my partners and I are seasoned, each with a long track record of success and reward.
As I read what I’ve written I think we need to find someone physically local to me or one of our developers.
