The above phone stopped mid Sony update now when the phone turns on. (Volume up and switch on .) All I see is the sony logo.
I have downloaded flashtools and the sony recovery but when I hold volume down and turn on the PC does not connect.
Are there any other recovery methods ?

Hello, straight to the point I didnt know what to do. Basically, I can't turn it off by using any means. Plus, after a force shut down [take out the battery], it automatically reboot on itself which disturbs flashmode. Means, I cant even install a fresh stock firmware which I had tried more than once. I really appreciate any help. Thx.

Problem : Wont turn off, annoying popup [shutdown box] at screen, power button not working
Take out the battery, hold power button for 10 - 15 seconds, reinsert battery. But first preper Flashtool for flashing, when you see popup connect your phone, try steps above.

ermm. after doing the steps you provided three times . it's still the same. flashmode only last for about 10 seconds and then it will reboot automatically.

used Titanium to reinstall all my apps
com.android.phone kept crashing every 2s
wipe everything in recovery mode then reboot
now device is stuck powered up on sony logo, so can't even connect flashtool.
is there a way to power the device off ?

Press the off button?
Hold power + volume up until it vibrate, then do your button combo to get into flashmode.
i have a sony xperia z c6603 So i flashed a kernel with flashtool on stock lollipop with the bootloader unlocked it was also rooted the flashing was successful i unplugged the phone and tried to boot it up but it wouldn't and the battery was at 15% after a while i pressed the power and volume up button for like 5 seconds and the led lit up with a red light but nothing happens i tried to reset it by pressing the power and both volume buttons it just vibrates and if i hold the power and both volume buttons for a longer time it vibrates 3 times and still nothing please help any help will be appreciated!

Try connect your phone by USB your PC. It should enter flash mode. Then try to flash Stock ROM ftf without flashing system or userdata (to not erase your current ROM) with FlashTool.
That may reboot your device so it will turn on
