Hello.
I have a little issue with my USB cables. I cannot attach any other cable to Nexus 4 than original one - all of them are loose and are falling off. The "teeth" of usb plug are not in proper position, I noticed that usb plug in original cable is a little shorter than other ones.
So, where can I buy a REALLY ORIGINAL USB cable for my Nexus 4?
This is the original replacement part for your LG NEXUS 4
LG EAD62330101
Search it on your country, i have buy 2 pieces at ~3$/piece from an online shop on my country.

Soooo I recently stumbled across this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744636&page=3
that states that if you short pins 4 & 5 on a micro USB connector and plug it into an HTC Desire, the phone will automatically go into car dock mode. as luck would have it, I happen to know that this is the same method that is used to trigger USB OTG on devices that support it. The wheels in my brain began to turn... $7 and a few days later I came up with this:
MICRO USB HOST ADAPTER + A BIZARRE A TO A USB CABLE = A CHARGING/DATA CABLE THAT TRIGGERS CAR DOCK MODE!
I have tested this on my G2 using Virtuous G-Lite 2.0.1 and it works perfectly, but YMMV.
I got the USB host adapter here
http://www.amazon.com/Micro-B-Adapt...3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1328093895&sr=1-3
and the A to A USB cable here
http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-...3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1328094123&sr=1-3
Just in case you haven't already figured it out you just connect the female end of the OTG adapter to either one of the male ends on the A to A cable, then use the cable as you would any other charging/data cable in your car. the only difference is that now your device will automatically switch into car dock mode when you plug it in! you could also connect this cable to a dock that has a female micro USB connector on the back (like the G2 OEM desktop dock here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473718) and create your own car dock!
an extra word of warning, DO NOT USE THE A TO A CABLE ON ITS OWN FOR ANYTHING! this is a non-standard conforming cable that would damage any two USB devices that you attempted to connect with it. I have no idea what it's intended use is on it's own, but don't think that it is the same thing as a USB data transfer cable (transfer cables have a chip inside the cable that makes the two connected USB host devices see each other as USB slave devices. this A to A cable is just a copper wire)
Nice, I didn't know people wanted this. I got a premade cable. Off ebay that triggered car mode no mods needed and it was a buck. Lol

Any idea about standard dock mode? I know the official tmobile dock auto opens a desk clock.

My guess would be that the cable was not intended to trigger car dock mode, it was just poorly made. a really bad soldering job on the pins would short pins 4 & 5 and do the same thing. Other people have reported this same behavior when they buy low end cables or get water in their micro usb ports.
I tried this and it seams to work but all it does its launch tunein radio, any idea how to change it to other apps such as torque? Thanks
The short thing does work. I my self stumbled on to it while repearing a aftermarked charger .. I opened up the mini usb side and it had a resistor on jumping pin 5( - ) to pin 4 . With the resistor on it charches with the resistor bypassed and just jumped to pin 4 it goes in to car dock mode. Also my friend got a samsung infuse and came with a hdmi dongle usb, so out of curiosity hooked it up to my g2 and it whent to car dock mode

ok. so i own a lg nexus 4 and sgh-t959v(samsung galaxy s 4g). the galaxy s will not charge with any usb cord nor connect to computer. i have tried new, used and old chargers, ive returned to pure stock firmware and still nothing. it will only work using the lg nexus 4 charger/usb. what is going on?
It won't charge or connect but it will go back to stock?
That's awesome. You probably have a broken usb connector.
It will connect to computer and charge using only a lg manufactured nexus 4 usb cord, so idk if that means its broken?
Help? Anybody?
Sounds like, from what you said, it works with that one LG Nexus 4 USB cable, it just doesn't like generic cords. There's nothing we can do to make your generic cords work. Hence no responses.
If it's still under warranty or a phone replacement plan, you can try to get it repaired for cheap. If it's not, you can either try to replace your USB port or, y'know, try different cables. Otherwise... pray that LG cable never dies. Sorry.

Need help in fixing my samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 charging/usb cable
Here's my situation,
1. I own original cable and soon tossed it away because the cable has got snapped wires and I find it difficult to solder to the pcb board.
2. I bought another cable, but again, it's having charging issues after 4 months or usage. I'm started to think that these type of cable is easily broken. So I wanted to fix the cable myself by open it up and resoldering the snapped wires in order to save money. The 2nd cable I bought has got no pcb board attached inside. Just pins and solderings.
For now, I just want to be able to charge using the original charger and be able to transfer data files using my pc. So I need help to someone to tell me which wire (color) is attached to which pins. 4 different colors, Black, Red, White and Green. Thanks before.
Here's the look of the 2nd cable when I open it up (removed the remaining snapped wires)
Hi all,
Does anyone know where I can find the original Google provided USB C to A cable adaptor that comes in the box with the Nexus 6p? I'm not looking for a longer one as that one worked perfectly for my needs. I haven't seen it anywhere online, not even at the Google Store.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
This isn't the OEM cable, but it's a 1.5 foot cable from MonoPrice
https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030319&p_id=13813&seq=1&format=2
For the price, you're probably better off getting a 3 or 6 foot cable to keep around in the event you don't have access to a USB C charger if you are not at home or something.

I have this cable in white/silver. It's a nice cable, but it's 6 feet long.
The google engineer benson had approved some complaint type c to a cables on his amazon profile.
I've been looking for a short one as well, but I haven't seen anything less than 0.5m so far.
Hi, this is a bit of a hit an hope question
My nexus 5 will charge as long as i use a certain charger (its from a Sony z3) but wont from nearly all other USB chargers I have including multiport ones that are supposed to give out 2.1A.
The phone also isn't recognised by a PC (ive tested across 3) in either adb or fastboot
Ive changed the battery and USB assembly twice
Any other ideas ?
Other members have had problems when using cheap third-party replacement USB flex cables. Is the replacement cable oem?

It was this issue that caused me to change the cable
The phone now has an oem internal data/charging USB flex cable inside?

sorry i thought id responded. yes i put the original oem cable back in . But as I said before this issue was first seen with all oem parts which is why i switched in the first place

If the problem exists after changing the internal USB flex cable, it could be a connection problem on the motherboard.
