I am giving away a new S7edge to a developer of my choice to work on and create root/unlock for the snapdragon version.
If you feel you are competent enough to provide root for this device then send me a PM.
If you feel you know a dev that can do it if they had the device in hand then post their name here in this thread or send me a PM. In the end I choose who gets it based on their background. I will pay for shipping, etc for the developer of choice. All I ask is for you to work diligently on this device.
This device is the future of locked, unrootable devices. The sooner we get through this barrier the better for the sake of all future devices. This isn't the end, only the beginning.

This is a tribute thread to Recognized Developer Flappjaxxx's AOSP ICS ROM "Ascension".
The last "Official" Version of Ascension is V7.
I Know that many people were daily driving this rom and would continue to use it regardless of prospective future updates.
At this point little is know by most of the community why this ROM is no longer being supported, but we must respect his decision regarding the closing of his threads!
That being said...
This thread should be your place to post any questions or comments about Ascension ROM, thus keeping XDA somewhat orderly.
This thread should be monitored and responded to by anyone posting here.
This is not an official thread and support is not guaranteed, but my belief is that our community is plenty capable of answering most questions based on this ROM, and thereby increasing the longevity of the ROM and prospect for a return by its developer.
Please be respectful of others and I will try to help as much as I can (which isnt much), while I would hope other Ascension user would have input also!
This ROM was a great addition to our phones and hopefully will live on through our community!

Although a thoughtful idea....please contact the DEV OF THAT ROM before opening such a thread. He may have closed down his threads for now but may be back VERY SOON. You should give him some time. Please remove this and talk with Flapp, the actual DEV of the rom before posting anything.

I'm a recent user of custom roms and i was wondering why the following situation was not resolved in any way:
A new phone appears on market and while more and more people start buying it and some want a custom rom for it (cm,aosp,etc). Is there a way to crowd fund the porting of a custom rom on a new device ? I would pay (even monthly) to support the developer(s) and i'm sure that there are others thinking like me. If we could have this would be great for devs and users also.
Best to just learn to do it yourself. Check out the Android section in Chef Central for many resources on this.
XDA isn't here as a place to wave money around, that's not why developers do this. :good:

I would be willing to put $10 towards paying the developer who can come up with a root for the warp elite 9518.
I know its pocket change but I'm hoping I can start a list of people who are willing to pledge some money, 5$-10$, I would keep this forum post with the user names of the people willing to donate, and the total amount available for payment upon a successful root. Offline I will keep that same list but include their first name and amount they would be able to pitch in. All money will stay in the donators possession, until an agreement is made regarding dev payment.
Hopefully a capable dev sees this as something they could do if they were compensated for their time.
