microphone and loud music? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The last time I attended an event with loud music and tried to record, the sound came out all distorted (mostly bass). Was this fixed or is there any way to fix it or at least improve it so that you can hear the music even a little? Thanks!
Edit*Note*: I am running ResurrectionRemixM v5.6.8(2016/05/13) based on latest google android 6.0.1 based on CM13 sources
THANKS!

Steve Kondik tried to fix it and inclusively hired some audio engineers to try to tweak the internal mic source but I haven't seen much progress in that.

[Q] Anyone else experience popping sound ONLY during Google Now voice search sounds

ROM CM10.1 M Snapshot and CM10 Stable
I've noticed popping and/or crackling sounds when Google Now plays back the confirmation audio (the "ba-ding!" when the microphone button is tapped, and the sound that plays after you finish talking).
The popping sounds can be heard through headphones as well as the external speaker, and does not happen any other time (music, notifications, ringtones).
Anyone else?
EDIT: I've found that the popping sound occurs when I activate the microphone button too quickly, but only with certain sound files. I can recreate the popping sound if I select certain notification sounds in the settings screen and tap it repeatedly. It seems more like a driver issue to me than a hardware problem if my memory of popping audio in Linux serves me right.
Audio does not pop while listening to music, watching videos, streaming music, etc. I think it may have something to do with the wav files used in Google Now. I'm trying to edit them in Audacity, but I'm being forced to import them as raw audio, but they don't play back properly.
EDIT 2: I used Odin to flash back to stock and it does not make any crackling sounds at all. This is clearly an issue with the ROM's I've been using.
Same problem here, popping sound on Google Now launch and quit. Driving me up a wall. Using AOSP based ROM and a CM10.1 kernel. Super noob here so, kernel maybe?

Sorry to rez an old thread, but this is the only one I've been able to come across where you have stated exactly the same issue I am having with Google Now. That popping noise is driving me crazy! Did you ever find a solution for it or a new rom that does not have this issue. I'm on a 4.1.2-based CM 10.0 rom and would love to find a fix for my current rom as I don't want to upgrade to 4.2+ as the multi-user capabilities of it make my precious Directory Bind unusable

Nope, sorry. I eventually returned it to stock and sold the phone. I'm poor.

[Q] Camcorder config on cyanogen 10.1.2

Hello. I know Aosp camera is no where near TWs but the latest tw camcorder records the audio extremely well in loud environments lile concerts yet aosp cam sound high pitched and distorted. Is there a way to configure the sensitivity of the mic on aosp camcorder to set it like TW? The TW settings filter all unecessary noise and reproduce bass even in concerts. Thanks in advance
Follow up:
Been diggin around and found this site which offered this solution for another phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2073013 using another guide i managed to raise the camcorder audio bitrate but when i press the record button gallery crashes. Any thoughts?

Videos in loud environments: sound is crap

Recording video in loud environments still sounds awful - I'm on a Nexus5 with Android 4.4
I recorded this a few days ago: http://youtu.be/qIJck4btcTU
I had an iPhone4, a few years ago. Recording concerts was a pleasure with this device, it produced perfect audio quality in loud environments. I think it's a complete joke that Android has no API for microphone gain settings. There's a bug: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9913 but it still has the status "New". Crazy.
Another user pointed out:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27325732&postcount=23
The problem is that the sound pressure levels are overwhelming the gain setting on the microphone.

Does anyone has an idea of how to deal with this? Perhaps a modded kernel which supports control over the gain level?
The chocolate on the kitkat has barely started to cool and you expect perfection? We are running beta level software. Wait and things will be fixed.

Audio glitches with some music players

I listen to music from my N5 a lot.
Before I got my N5, I used PowerAmp. This is not possible anymore, because certain audio glitches happen every roughly 5 mins (sometimes more/less often). The audio glitches can best be described as a short sound (not longer then half a second) that is a mix of a pop and some sort of electrical noise, IN the headset. Basically, very difficult to describe but incredibly annoying nonetheless.
Anyhow, PowerAmp is not the only player that has this audio glitch. N7 Player has the exact same problem. Oddly enough, both Google Play Music and Rocket Player does not have this issue what so ever. I've only tested these four players, but as stated two of them has this issue.
Does anyone know why this happens? And even better, does anyone know of a possible fix?
What I know the problem is not:
A problem with the audio file itself. I can experience the glitch, rewind a few seconds and it's not there when I listen again. Also using Winamp on my desktop has 0 audio glitches.
A problem with the headset. Tried this on my SoundMagic E30's and Razer Tiamat 2.2, both get it.
A problem with the "OK Google" hotword detection, turning this off did nothing. (Suggestion from PowerAmp bug forums)
A problem with the kernel/ROM. I've experienced this with PA, PA+ElementalX, SlimKat and Slimkat+ElementalX. Also tried Franco and Linaro at some point. (All based on AOSP, so maybe it's a problem with that, I dunno)

WhatsApp Voice Message Audio Leak to Louder Speaker

When listening to a WhatsApp Voice Message via earpiece (i.e. proximity sensor) and another message arrives or any other notification, the audio is routed to the louder speaker for few seconds (length of notification audio) then routed back earpiece. So everybody around will hear that audio message.
This is extremely annoying is privacy disaster . Is it happening anyone ? Does anyone know how to solve?
Phone: Xiaomi Mi 5
All roms are affected (even AOSP ROMs)
i face this problem too. i feel that it is not whatsapp's problem but how the firmware handles notifications itself. i may be wrong though
Any thoughts of this guy's?
I have the exact same problem on my Nexus6P for a while. I'm not sure, but I think since I bought it. The same happened to a friend of mine with his Nexus5X. Haven't been able to solve it yet.
My only workaround is to react quickly to take the phone off my ear and resume the audio once the notification ringtone has finished playing.
no luck so far? I wonder how is this tolerated by millions of users? it's quite annoying :crying:
Sound
I got this problem too, but only in LineageOS builds, and I've reported this to the developer of my ROM (Moto G4 Play - Harpia) and he didn't understand the issue. On Pixel Experience ROM there ir no such a problem.
