+1 anyway to root J700P snapdragon 615??

I'm curious to know whether there is a way to root the Boost Mobile variant as well.

+1.. Got the J700P with Boost Mobile, typical process that works with other versions doesn't work. Getting a "binary too large" error when using Odin.

Would Kingroot root it successfully?

I tried already, doesn't work.

Any luck on the root process yet? I've got the j700p I think it's the 2015 version thou

Whats the actual diffrences between the 2015 and 2016 version other that the 2015 is 1.5gb ram and 2016 is 2gb ram and a few other small things.. has anyone actually tried flashing the elte twrp on this phone? I had at one time a virgin mobile galaxy s3 original then i had a data done right virgin mobile galaxy s3 and the same twrp recovery worked on it and the data done right version was released years later after the original release of the galaxy s3. I wonder if it applys for the 2016 version as well where we can use the twrp from the 2015 version.

Having Problems..
I've been looking for hours on a Tut on how to get a recovery and a rom on this phone.. Havn't been able to find anything Odin says that it cannot open the file and on the phone it says that the file is to large..

This is what odin says.. i tried the tut on this page..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/how-to/tutorial-how-to-install-twrp-recovery-t3203632
As far as comments it seems that it only works for F, H, and another version but i havnt seen anything on P other than this short list of comments..
As of now im running SM-J700P 2016 Boost.. i want a custom rom, but i cant even get a recovery for it so i will look for that first.. Any help having lots of trouble..
Apologies in Adv for putting anything on here that im not suppose to im a bit new here .. Thx!

So there's 2 700p versions?
A SD 615 and a Exynos?
-sent from this device using this app.

Mine says it's a 1.4GHz Octa-Core Processor. Don't know the difference but it is the 2015 j700p for virgin mobile.

Got a security update last night and tried kingroot 4.9.5 and kingroot says root strategy available. Although when I tried it it stops at 31%. Thought I should mention that, maybe it can help someone to figure out the root method.

I've seen today site too never tried it. It says it's for the software version J700PVPU1APB7. I had gotten an update and now I'm on J700PVPU1APF3. I'm trying to download the older software which J700PVPU1APB7 and going to try Odin to see if I can roll back and try the root method but the download keeps stopping half way and i keep having to restart. Also it downloads at super low speed from their website.

I dont recommend trying to roll back, as far as i have seen you can end up bricking.

If apb7 is 5.1.1 and apf3 is 6.x.x you will most likely brick. Do not roll back.
-sent from this device using this app.

Apb7 is 6.0.1 and apf3 is 6.0.1, it was just a security update.
Too late already tried it before I read yals post. I was able to roll back with Odin to apb7 but the root didn't work. Don't know if I used the wrong twrp version as their was many. Knox didn't trip either. Gonna try the other versions when I get the chance but with my work schedule, don't know when I'll get the chance.

Is the boot loader locked? I have not tried to root a the j7 yet but that could be why twrp isn't working, might look into cwm recovery. The security patch was overall around 200mb, it might have changed the amount of space left in /system.

I'm not sure if the bootloader is locked or not. I don't know how to tell. Honestly I'm just trying things out and if I brick, well hopefully I can unbrick with smart switch or Odin lol

Didnt know there was an ND5. There wasnt even an ND5 when I downloaded the kernel source code from samsung. And nope, There like 2 knox files in the entire firmwares which is just left behind crap I believe. Absolutely does not give you a knox bootloader and crap tho. Do make sure your tablet is a T230NU model and not just a T230 model.
Thanks a lot for this. So if I'm rooted and want to install system updates I would first backup data to sd card via titanium ,(or to pc?) , then factory restore via settings, Odin with this firmware, install updates, then vroot + terminal supersu, then restore backups.... correct? I'm still trying to figure out what bloatware is safe to remove...a guide on how to clean a out of the box tab 4 7.0 would be greatly appricated....
Will this Root my T230NU?
Hi, I am new to the Android market and I was wondering if this "stock" image will root my Samsung Galaxy 4 T230NU.
I am a formerly iDevice owner and I am quite familiar with Jailbreaking.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hello Ed,
I'm kind of new as well however I can tell you that this process will not root it. In my case, because I updated the software I had to use the stock Rom in order to downgrade and then root it. ShinySide explains the.. Rooting procedure in another post
thanks!

I just used these links to download the firmware and they worked great. Mega took 1/3 as much time to pull from as Sammobile. Thank you Shinyside! You are awesome. If I wasn't a broke college kid I'd would def donate.

So I rooted my Tab 4 7" and then decided to switch to Nexus 7 and sell my Tab 4. Both great devices but the specs and updates draw me to try Nexus after the Tab. Anyway, I went to Sammobile to get the Stock rom and inadvertently ended up with the Nook version. OOOPS. Had to reflash but the second firmware I downloaded from Sammobile (at about 1 hour each, ugh) kept failing. Even after wiping the Cache and resetting I could not flash with Odin. Tried placing the image on the SD and installing in Recovery and still no luck. Then I turned to the ONLY source for self support of Android and found ShinySide with the stuff I needed. Downloaded with the Mega link which took 20+ min instead of an hour and it flashed straight away and my Tab 4 is back to being a Tab 4 instead of a Nook. Just wanted to give props to ShinySide for his efforts on behalf of the community and his patience to put up with noobs even when they do/say silly stuff!
Thank you so much!!
Ive been trying to download this file from all these crappy sites and they keep timing out thank you so much.

thank you
HI so i tried installing twrp recovery for my SM-t230NU And it got stuck in bootloop after trying to load custom recovery. Not a single Tar file md5 file worked until i got this rom and USED odin to install it. Odin just kept crashing on me till I got here and used the md5 file provided. It pushed the files while in download mode and rebooted and even still had all my apps and email going.
Again thank you so much and please reply if you have the same device and need help. I thought i bricked my Christmas present.

[HELP] FWRP soft-brick help

Well I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S6 from Verizon and I tried to install TWRP on it so I could do some backup stuff but it appears doing so soft bricked my device but sadly I'm trapped as all methods to unbrick my device have failed but mostly because Odin always gets stuck at "NAND Write Start!!" when trying to flash the stock firmware, all other guides seem to not help unfortunately, so I'm coming here looking for help

You can get in DL mode, so I would think there's a way to use ODIN. Hold tight and let me research something.

So far from what I read is if Odin gets stuck at the nand write then the partitions are screwed up but I have no idea where the find a PIT file to re-partition the phone

Same thing had happened to me. I posted the fix on a couple threads here (which was the same - needed the newest odin). Nice that we're both back in working order.

I would say to those wanting to try it...It's not a bad rom. Very stockish of course but thats not bad now a days. Smooth, stable, good battery life, so on.
I could handle the less extra mods and features because of Xposed....However I just went over to the modified xposed for touchwiz and it says sprint MM is not supported. So for that reason alone I'm switching back to something else in the meantime.

This rom is actually pretty nice. A couple downsides I disliked are the additional users feature and the preconfig csc being XXV resulting in KOR set features. On the plus side, the data icons and possibly even capablity seemed very much improved such as displaying lte/lte+/4g as well as having the option to enable national/global roaming. Speed tests confirmed much faster speeds while displaying lte+ vs lte. In the process of changing the csc and unability to change preconfig I ended up losing data all together and flashed mm deodex to get data back. Preconfig was unavailable to change stating it could not be for a single csc. Admittedly, the KOR or XXV had no impact on performance or display features and was mostly just something Id rather of said SPR or XAS and of course US. Also wouldve like to add apns but as with all roms Ive tried with users feature it stated that it was unavailable to add for the current user.

I flashed after extracting through odin and it rebooted into its own recovery much like cf auto root and then rebooted system where I flashed twrp through flashify using 3.0.0-3 found on one of tundhams posts. Twrp 3.0.1.0 bootloops and the option on flashify download lists 3.0.2.0 does the same. Only 3.0.0-1 or 3.0.0-3 have worked for me
<OSM> Binary Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> MD5 hash value is invalid
<OSM> LamlazyROM_N920P_MM_V1.0.tar.md5 is invalid.
How to fix this issue? I'm using an update ROM from the original thread, and the downloaded archive seems to have the right size so I don't think it's an issue with the download, but I could be mistaken.
EDIT: removing the .md5 extension fixed it, and I flashed the ROM successfully, although I don't really know what it did after that with the recovery, I don't seem to have root access if that was what it was supposed to do.

I had a similar issue with another Samsung device.
First check your download.
Did you download directly to PC? If not, do that first.
What Odin are you using? I have 3.10 and 3.11 that switch between just in case.
What windows are you using? Might need to restart PC.
Check your developer settings on device. USB debugging needs to be checked and verify apps through USB unchecked.
If you download firmware on phone and move it over to PC, you risk corruption of file. That was my mistake before.

I Need Help. :/ I had to unroot my phone due to the snapchat security thing preventing me from logging in. I had a hell of a time trying to find the work around to being rooted and still being able to bypass that security crap so I could use my snap. Finally gave up and flashed the stock firmware and did factory reset.
I have 2 problems I need help fixing.
1. Video calling doesn't work. Dial and it just beeps and ends call instantly
-I was able to video call fine when I was rooted and the LAST time I reflashed the stock tar, but it was an older firmware.
2. 4glte logo is gone and 4g speeds are not there or the same...
-My 4glte logo would pop up when I had 4g connection and it was a noticeable speed difference. When I unrooted and flashed this OEM firmare, my emblems are completely different and my speeds are so slow now compared to yesterday prior to reflashing this. I also have an "H+" sign for network now. Never have I seen that...
---------- Post added at 05:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:51 AM ----------
Oh I forgot, I have ALWAYS been able to use my 4g while on the phone, now that I did this I cannot do that anymore at all. the weird H+ signal icon comes up but no data at all or extremely slow. This is a first time for that ever, even when rooted 2 times and flashed back to factory 2 times.
Please someone help...

You can use magisk systemless root to hide root and use snap chat alongside root

So I have followed Hydromans rooting instructions closely, but no matter what, I am failing in Odin. Even tried to flash fresh firmware in case I missed a setting somewhere, but Im stumped. Dev Options on, both boxes ticked, downloaded boot.tar from Hydromans link, Odin 12.3. Samsung drivers are up to date as well. Ive even used debloater to block Knox packages first, but fail, fail, fail. How did you overcome this in order to set SELinux to permissive??

I believe that model has the Exynos cpu, you can download cpu-z from the market to check. If so, you can follow the directions in this link to add twrp recovery and root while doing so.

Thank u but....
Thank u but mine is the sms550tl tracphone model, can't install twrp without bricking it. I realized I have a new FW released since march, and it seems there isn't a recent boot.tar to use. Thanks for the help

I'm looking for this as well. SELinux is permissive, but KingRoot just refuses to work. Did I trip KNOX for nothing?
