Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this or not but hey ho! Here goes...
I've been playing around with Tasker and I've been wondering: is there a way to get it to perform an action based on your location when location is NOT used as a context?
E.g. Date and time are set as context, so it will check my location on a monday at 10am (instead of all the time - thus saving battery) and then depending on where I am will adjust my profiles accordingly?
It seems to me it should be possible but I can't figure out how to do it.

Try this:
1st pick date n time context.
2nd On Misc Action select Get Location.
Or
1st create a Profile Context/Location - Name it as "Get Location"
2nd create new profile Context/Time & Date/
3rd On Tasker Action/Profile Status and give Get Location profile to activate and deactivate options as you wants.
What you are looking for can definitely workout from tasker. Give it a try.
Ps: I haven't tested above methods

Hey, thanks for the reply.
The first method you mention I've already tried. I can get a location fix at a certain time/date but then I can't figure out how to get Tasker to perform a specific action based on the result from the location fix (namely changing my settings accordingly).
The only way I can do it is by using location as a context - which just drains battery :-(
I'm not sure what you mean by your 2nd suggestion. Sorry. Can you clarify?
Thanks for your help so far.

In Tasker, you can use some system variables. I believe one of them gives you the longitude and latitude found by the GPS. I believe it's %LOC that gives you the Long and Lat together.
Since you said you can get a a GPS location fix at a certain time, then you can use the variables for Long and Lat to do something based on the Long and Lat matching a location you want.
Does that work?

I see. But how would I specify a radius in this way? Something like 300m?

I've been poking around on the market for a few days for an app that will keep track of how much time I'm using the device / what apps are in the foreground / which are getting the most use. Sort of like a data counter, but for eyeball time - so I can see, for example, that I'm spending way too much time in any given week / month in Tasker and Tapatalk, and that it's time to put down the damn phone and get some work done.
I found App Time Mini, but it's a little basic for this purpose. It puts a timer on each app you specify, but that's it. I'd like to be able to categorize apps and get a visual representation (graph) for their totals.
Anyone know of anything?
Hey actually your phone itself will have that information..atleast all HTC phones have it..however it is put behind some secret code or something..
Try elixir ..it's a widget app but will give this info..though you'll have to go deep inside that app...
However I don't know a app with graphs or other stuff..traffic widget or onavo gives you graphs about network usage...
Trying Elixir now, thanks.
I'd actually forgotten about the dial codes, but you are right, Usage under 4636 gives me a workable list. These dial codes work with more than just HTC too (using them on a Motorola Atrix). No go on a tablet tho.
For anyone unfamiliar, it's a pretty cool feature. There's a full list available here.

Hey guys, I got tasker a long while ago and only really gave it a chance a few days ago and I think I have the basics down
I feel like I'm doing things inefficiently, and I can't work out what the variables tab is for. My current proudest achievements are wifi on when home auto of when away, not using gps, and when headset plugged in volume up phone silent=off ect
I'm currently using 4 profiles crammed into a project just for turning mobile data on and off during work hours excluding my dinner hour, surely I'm doing this wrong?
I also have no idea how to set multiple contexts, eg, tasks based on the month, day and time all at once in one profile?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated by a lowly noob

first, make a profile with one context (maybe based on day in your case?). when it's done, long press on context and you will get an option to add new context (here you may want to add time). Same method applies for adding multiple tasks to one profile.
The task will be performed when all conditions are true.
Last weekend i used S-Health in cycling mode on my Gear S2 (paired to a LG 2) for a short tour. It recorded the time and my heart rate and synced the activity with the app on my phone as expected. What it did not record was the distance i traveled. How is your experience with S-Health in cycling mode? Does it record the distance as well? It should i would reckon, not?
What I've noticed is that prior to last weekend most my rides have been recorded by auto which defaults to a time base workout and not distance. So distance is not recorded. Last weekend I decided to manually start a ride specifying the estimated distance that I would be traveling. The results were as follows:
Duration
Distance
Calories Burned
Avg Speed
Max Speed
Avg Pace
Max Pace
Highest elevation
Total Accent
Total Decent
Avg Heart Rate
Max Heart Rate
Weather
Wind Direction
Wind Speed
Humidity
The route was also tracked and displayed on a map in the results showing mile markers. It also provides the ability to save a route as well as export the route to gpx format.
Cool, thanks! Until now i did not even see that I can select different goals

Wow...THANKS! ... I've spent the last hour trying to figure out how to get Endomondo working on the S2....if S Health tracks biking, looks like I won't need Endomondo now.

Within S Health on the phone, look at the Cycling history. Once you select a particular event with miles, scroll down to the very bottom of the details page and there will be a button labeled "EXPORT AS GPX FILE".

To do that you have to carry your phone with you?
Or you can use the watch alone?
Thanks

You have to carry your phone of course... Gear S2 Smartwatches haven't GPS which is necessary when it's up to get such datas mentioned above.

That is, unless you have the 3g model, which does have GPS and can be used for running without a phone (at least using the Nike+ app)
Darn!! So....i've discovered that you lose the ability to export the activity .gpx file if you initiate the cycling activity from the watch instead of from the phone. WHY????!!! oh why do they make this so unnecessarily convoluted and difficult? If they'd simply create a desktop website where you could see your activities on the big screen they could eliminate all of these hoops we're jumping through trying to export our data.

I start all my rides with the watch and never loose the ability to export the gpx.

Not sure why you think it's so complicated. On the watch in S Health I select cycle activity, then specify the number of expected miles, then start. When I've completed my ride, I select finish on the watch. That's it, nothing complicated about that. My ride is automatically synced with the phone, I don't have to do anything with the phone app until the end of my ride, then I select the export gpx option, that's it.

Something is going on with my app then. I no longer have the export option. Not sure how to fix it. I'm on a Galaxy Note 4. Really frustrating.
The difficulty I'm referring to is the lack of a desktop viewer/web portal for S Health. Using the app and watch itself is indeed a breeze! Once I get to the bottom of this export issue I'm all set.
I can confirm that the ability to export to .gpx is not available in Ver. #4.6.1.0007 of the S Health app. If you update to this version, you'll lose the ability to export. Uninstalling updates reverts me back to Ver. #4.4.1.0003 restores the ability to export.

Good move to make. If by chance you install it by accident...the last version that I found to retain this capability was #4.5.1.0011.
Hopefully it was just an accident or bug and they will bring it back in whatever new update they have for 4.6.1

Thanks. Yeah, I would hate to see Samsung take this feature away. I assuming it's a bug as well.
Do you need to start tracking on your phone or on the the s2? If I start on my s2 it does not track speed, distance, altitude and so on...
And If I start tracking on my phone I dont have it displayed on my gear s2
Hi there!
The question is, as already said in the title, if you found a way to do the interval training, for example couch to 5k programs, on your gear watch, without taking the phone with you? And of course the activity should be tracked in S-Health.
Thanks!

With Timerro you can set up intevals, but it will not help you getting results per individual interval in S-Health. Like what you for instance get in Runkeeper when you do an interval training there.
I also haven't found a good solution for this yet and am also very interested in a good running app that supports this.
There is...kind of.
There's an option called "Guide at Intervals". Swipe up on screen when it stays "Start running...". You'll see it at the bottom.
