Hey,
so here is the problem - I bought Galaxy S6 from eBay, it was supposed to be Grade A, without any problems. Got it today, clear like a new - except home button which has some small scratches. And there came the problem - when pressing it, the left hand side clicks, but gets stuck. Meanwhile right side is stuck all the time.
What I mean by stuck? Basically, properly working home button in S6 sits a little bit above glass.
In my case right side of home button is flat with the glass all the time, so when I move my finger over it it slides without any problem.
Left side of home button sits above glass, but after I press it, it gets flat with the glass as well, and the whole button is the same level as glass, which feels just rubbish.
Left side comes back to its proper position when I press the right side or (sometimes) the center of the button. Other than that button works fine. scans fingerprint and so on.
Should I try and use some alcohol to wipe around the button, or could it be a mechanical defect and should I contact the seller about this? My biggest worry is this thing getting worse and worse over time.
Cheers

Hey guys, does your home key rub against the top screen portion? Mine is probably slightly angled by less than .5mm and it causes the home key to rub against the button part of the screen. You can feel it, it feels different than pressing the back arrow button.
I had quite similar home key issue as the glossy cover on it started to roll up from the upper left corner (which is near to the top screen portion). The rolling area was smaller than 1 square mm and the good thing was that it was not elastic at all so I just pushed it down again with she stylus
If it is just the cover then maybe try coaxing it back (not the button, just cover of it) with some finer instrument than the stylus that would fit to the slit. The material IS quite pliant!
No mine doesn't rub at all. how long have you had the phone? I'd return it, and get another that doesn't rub.
I'm with sprint and had the same issue with the first two TP's I had. I used my 30 day no questions asked to return them.
This third one I got day b4 yesterday is sweet. All the issues I had with the other two are gone. Phone is nice and sturdy and is a great quality build.
I'd swap out for sure.
Yeah I would get another one, but the thing is, I got an unlock code for this one through ATT. I personally don't have ATT myself but paid a friend to get it for me. So if I get a replacement, I don't think ATT will give out another unlock code. I have had it for about a week now.
Hi,
I've had my Nexus S for less than 4 weeks, and I just noticed today that the top right corner of the screen seems to have some give when you press on it. It apparently just started happening now... Anyone else have this issue with their phone? I'm wondering if I should just run to Best Buy and have them exchange the phone for me before it's too late...
Thanks,
Mike
I don't have that problem with mine but in your case looks like you might have to take that trip to best buy

if you look at it, does the surface of the top corner part raised a bit compared to the other corners or sides?
I ask because I tried to press gently on the corners and also the sides and there's a very slight give. It maybe because of the type of screen (plastic?) causing the give when pressed?
yeah it appears to be ever so slighlty raised, and has a very slight give...
any word on if this is normal? I have the same issue with the bottom capacitive side....it is noticeably lose sometimes, I can push it then it becomes tight...then the capacitive buttons wont work unless I turn off the screen then turn it back on.
My 2 week old Nexus S just started doing this. It feels like the screen is attached with glue and the screen has separated from the frame. I can press on it and it sticks for a moment, but if press a minute later it clicks again.
My phone had the same problem.. Upper right screen was lifting ever so slightly. I was passed my thirty days so i couldn't bring it back to bestbuy. My only option was to send it to samsung for repair. The problem was that they had it for almost three weeks and when i got it back the screen was still lifting up. I had to send it back out and almost three weeks later (again) i got it back and it was fixed. They ended up replacing the PBA. Not exactly sure what that is but the phone is fixed.
Yep up volume button barely responsive. Feels like either the spring crapped out or the contacts themselves are toast. I was in cwm getting ready to flash Black Final when this happened. Tried the up volume and nadda. Pushed really hard and it would work for a second. The button is depressed and won't return to it's proper position although the lover part of the rocker works fine. Rebooted to see and it can't turn up crap anymore. Anyone else run into this? Anyway instead of flashing I'm off to ifxit to get the teardown and see if it's a spring issue.
If anyone has had this and there is an easier fix let me know.
UPDATE and SOLUTION:
Turns out that the plastic housing was pinching the upper portion of the volume rocker. Used ifixits teardown to remove plastic cover. Cleaned all debris from phone with compressed air. Inserted everyone favorite small electronics shim the cut up business card. Re-installed plastic housing. Volume rocker works again.
Hi people,
Got myself a shiny new platinum s6 64gb on o2.
Phone is amazing, and I absolutely love it. But, the home button is a bit wobbly. It's firm on the right side of the button, but dips inward a bit on the left and makes a slight 'clicky sound' like a loose button would.
Is it best I nip this in the bud now, and get a new replacement? Or is it absolutely fine, and just something minor to forget about?
Thanks everyone!
the button on mine is firm and solid. i say get a replacement.
Here's a quick and easy fix for you guys. At the time of writing this, there is no solution, besides replacing the home button or replacing the phone.
The slightest misalignment annoys me. My perfectionist brethrens will share my pain.
After searching hours on solution, and even considering disassembling and replacing the home button, I managed to stop the rattling/clicking.
Steps:
1. Slip the corner of a piece of paper into the gap in the home button where there is movement (or "clicking" sound) to identify the source of imbalance.
2. Cut a small piece of paper. This piece should be extremely small (in the 1-2 mm range) to fix into the gap found in step 1.
3. Using a tweezer, slip this piece into the gap in home button.
4. Repeat as necessary to fill in the gaps.
It's a timely process but works.
Let me know how it works for you gents.
I have the same exact issue in my phone, I do not know if this a normal issue or what?
Sometimes when I pick my phone up and my thumb is onscreen, I feel a slight click, as if the screen has some give between it and the internals. Is this normal??? Try taking your phone, and with your 4 fingers on back, and thumb on front, press it. Does it slightly click/move?
You can hard press the home button (if Always On Display is enabled) to turn on screen instead of the power button. But it only does it when your thumb is near the bottom middle.

Click to collapse
I've tried pressing down on my screen like you have said and I don't have any movement between the frame and the screen.
I'm not sure how this would affect the water resistance rating, so I would suggest contacting your carrier/Samsung.
Do you have a glass screen protector on?

Your glass isnt glue in place correctly.
Believe it or not it happens to all samsung phones, more so on the cruved phones.
I would take it back to the store and have them replace it.
Some have gotten by with heating the phone with a blow dryer and pressing it down around the edges. But that can be risky.
