Hello xda,
Since I look for easy root for my S4 GT-I9505 (while not voiding the warranty), I came up with some posts of Kingo and vRoot, all this malware stuff.
The problem is that all the topics were concluding to the fact that the case is 'under investigation'. All these 'latest' posts are from January or February, and we have May 5 ! So is anyone able so far to provide us if this investigation is over, or if anything has changed from back then? I am sure I am not the only one who is curious & and want to root the phone but feel unsecure.
Ideas and discussion are all welcome. Feel free to post your opinion.
Cheers:cyclops:
EDIT: Actually I found an alternative way to root but it is for android 4.3. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758)
Did someone manage to find a similar way for 4.4.2? (without tripping knox ofc.)
I just don't understand all your crap you say , but i have maybe a simple solution!
You have a S4 so you can just root it with Framaroot i think!

The "malware" with kingo was simply the fact that it was submitting your imei to their server to detect your device and provide the correct files for root. Since that big problem, kingo claims they removed that check and none of your personal data is used. I personally used kingo without any issues on my Note 3 and I would say it's safe... Chances are, if they did do something with your imei number you wouldn't even have your phone by then anyways.

Well, if you think starting a discussion, and a person expressing his opinion is crap i dont see any reason for you to be in a forum.
Even though english is not my native language, i think my point is pretty clear. I asked if anyone knows what is going on with the investigation that was supposed to have happened. and secondly a general discussion about the topic. No reason for offence. Thanks very much for the link though, does framaroot void warranty?

Yes, I know they claimed they have stopped mining IMEI's but, do you think they actually did? Imean maybe its just only the IMEI, but maybe its device monitoring? We dont have any recent official announcement from xda, and i dont think we will have...

Hmm there is no any risk my friend!
If your device is on the compatible devices list then youre good to go
I have rooted almost all of my devices with framaroot and some of them were not compatible and then i have just manually flashed superuser myself !
Please try it!
Services like vroot saferoot and kingo are not trusted

You have to be careful with knox... There are ways to root if you don't care about tripping knox but that voids your warranty

If they do anything with these imei numbers by the time whatever they do is actually used you probably won't have the same phone anyway... I would consider it safe.
I prefer vroot, despite being in Chinese, but it is easier to use.
I am on the same boat, trying to root without trigger Knox 0x1.
I dont see frameroot is compatible for our phone.

Hello, im looking for any way to root (like Ping pong root) that leaves KNOX untouched for 5.1.1 android and G920IDVU2COGA version. Hope to get some info, greetings .
Welcome to XDA. Everything you need to know can be found out by searching the Q&A section or Google for "ping pong root 5.1.1".
Tl;dr - it's not going to happen.

is there any other for the G920I 5.1.1 ?
My question is simple, I was researching a lot, in here and google, and I find out that several persons says that this specific model can be rooted tripping knox.
we just need to root this phone, we don't care about warranty or anything, is there a way to rooted?
baseband version is
G920VVRU4BOK7
5.1.1
I saw somebody says there is a way to return to an old android version modifying the tar file.
as I said, we just need the phone rooted, we don't care about warranty or knox.
Thanks everybody for helping us.
There's no way with your build number the last build that could be rooted was oe2.
there is no an option? always is an option. somebody know it

I tried, but, as soon as I download the file my antivirus detected 5 kinds of different viruses, so I know understand why you are afraid.
Thanks for the advice.

Hi all,
I'm visiting the XDA Forums for the first time, so please excuse my ignorance if I'm posting my article in the wrong location, or am not observing an obvious rule. The reason I'm on here is because I'd like to root my device so that I can install custom roms, and remove the spyware pre-installed onto my device (the Computrace rootkit by Absolute Software).
My device specification is in the title.
I've tried unlocking my bootloader (following a great video from HighOnAndroid) however, the option to do so is not present.
Please can some kind soul help me achieve my objective of liberating my device? I would be very grateful.
Kind regards,
A compete idiot.
instead of rooting install debloater from xda and remove unvanted apps via pc.
Thank you for your kind words of assistance; unfortunately, I do not believe that this will help me tick all of my requirements (custom ROMs). Also, I believe that the Computrace spyware is so low level that this is not really achievable (although I could be mistaken).
I should also mention that my device was supplied by EE (Everything Everywhere) within England (UK - United Kingdom).

Just flash Unikernel with Odin (Get the odin version), than you'll have access to root and a custom kernel. From there you can install TWRP (make sure you have the correct one for g920f) using odin again, with TWRP then you can flash a custom kernel. Be warned though as you will lose your WiFi Calling capabilities.
Thank you. Are there any video tutorials an idiot like myself can follow? I quite often make school-boy errors. Also, will this trip KNOX?
It appears from an article I have read (http://www.galaxys6edgeupdate.com/how-to-root-galaxy-s6-511-update-unikernel/) the model I specified in the title is not supported. Do you know something that has not been explained here? Or was your suggestion slightly incorrect (although I am grateful for your intended objective to help)?

Has anyone a solution to this challenge? Or is this something that is too difficult for the rooting community?
Many thanks in advance!

UniKernel works most models (Including g920f) and it doesn't matter what version you are on as long as you are on 5.1.1 (which you are).
Thank you Rekan_! I'll give it a try
