SM-S820L STOCK ROM WITH deodex, busybox, root, zipalign. - Samsung Galaxy Core Prime Guides, News, & Discussi

YOU TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR FLASHING THIS ROM.
Hi, i made a rom for this device (SM-S820L). I had a hard time making an proper updater script, but thanks to superr's kitchen on linux, I succeeded.
Features:
1. Deodexed
2. All apps have been zialigned
3. It is rooted
4. It has busybox installed.
Bugs:
It has none that i can find. It is based on the stock rom that came pre-installed on the phone.
CREDITS:
I have to give credit to superr and his kitchen, like i said before, without his efforts in making it, it would have been very difficult to make it.
Here is the link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-KfJE4M0My6Z1RsNUpXaFA3bmM

Just a suggestion:
You can make your thread post more effective and nicer, if you could give instructions and other info. about your ROM.
Take this thread as an example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/development/rom-kitkat-deodexed-14-04-2016-t3358108

I appreciate the feedback! This was my first time making a rom, so im pretty clueless on how to make a proper post, but, i re-edited it, and I hope it looks nicer.

Yeah, it's fine now. Good job.

I have an external SD card on my Rooted Galaxy Core Prime (SM-S820L) and I want to install this deodexed ROM, do I need my PC?or can I manually do it on my device? Feedback would be greatly appreciated???

As long as you have twrp recovery installed, all you need to do is a factory reset, then install. If you need instructions on how to install it, there is a thread over at androidarea51 containing instructions. It also tells you how to root if you have not already.

Ineed firmware for my galaxy core prime sm-s820L

Detected as STOCK ROM?
I actually have three SM-S820L 's... One is completely stock, and received a security patch from Google a while ago. My other two can't get the security patch because they have been rooted with Kingroot among others, and messed with. Google detects them as non-stock ROMs.
My question is- Will this rom be detected as stock? If so, I am installing this on both ASAP!

[Q] Help with rooting+installing custom ROMs for Samsung Galaxy 3(i5801) running 2.2?

Okay, now I know that there are other threads about this, but the issue is that none are specific to my problem. Either they are not for my phone, or my version is different or the thread is dead and with no replies. So I created a new thread.
Anyway, I was hoping that I could get a step by step procedure on how to root my phone and install a custom ROM.
The issue is, my KIES doesn't work (so help me with that also please) and moreover, I'm very new to all this so I don't quite get a few things.
Also, please tell me what are the best ROMs out there and if something does go wrong in the process, how do I un-brick my phone?
So I'm looking for active replies / repliers since I know I'll have a bunch of questions during the process.
Last, when I go to "about phone" on my phone it says "firmware version 2.2", but the little that I've looked up, people run 2.2.1. Does this mean my rooting process is different?
Thanks. And in case you want it, my kernel version is 2.6.32.9
Appreciate it.
rooting z4root
custom rom - pick a custom rom and follow instruction in that thread.
Your phone is already updated to 2.2 and that is the reason why kies doesn't show new updates. Our phone has 2.2 and not 2.2.1
If you use roms which doesnt have boot then it will not get hard bricked. soft brick can be fixed by reflashing.
What is the exact issue you are facing while using kies? Try a uninstall and reinstall. That should fix it
K, so I fixed KIES. I just had to update though, I was running on an older version. I didn't think a slightly outdated version would not detect my phone.. anyway never mind that.
So I don't really know what the best custom ROM is out there. could you suggest one? one that is fast (speed is really the priority), and not buggy, supports the apps that the stock ROM should. I'm willing to try three-four, so give me the names of the best ones out there.
Don't I need to root my phone before installing a custom ROM? If so, then I need to learn how to do that..
What do you mean it doesn't have a boot?
Well to figure out best ROm you will have to read up on each ROm. Each of them have separate thread where initial posts describe the properties of ROm. There are ROm comparison threads out there but that is just summary. I cant give you best choices. Everybody has different taste. Start with more popular ones, whose threads have more posts. More post -> more popular.
You can root using z4root.
Custom ROM are pre rooted normally so you need not root your phone before flashing custom rom

if speed is a prime consideration then i would suggest kyrillos rom..... fastest rom i ever used....... very less buggy.......
you can also flash lestatious rom..... it is damn fast and surprisingly stable!.....
and check dharam's rom collection too....... i'm using his ultra clean ultimate rom right now..... and it's good although since you are new i would recommend flashing a different rom from his collection.....
As for rooting.... you don't need to root before flashing a custom rom....
And in case you need any information about any of the features or anything.... just post it here ....... i'lll try to help you in whatever way i can.,.....

Hey i would suggest u to go for Indroid 4.3. I m using this and have seen many users jumping from lestatious and kyrollis to indroid.
As a begginer, u will also get many help in Indroid thread.
Z4root doesnt work in Froyo, if u wanna root, choose superone click.
U dont need kies to work, Use Odin to flash ur fone.
Make sure to learn processes better by reading through forums, if u dont wanna brick ur fone.
Hey!! I would suggest Indroid 4.3 or Kyrillos 5.6. They are fast as hey have lagfix.
And no you don t have to root your phone before installing a custom ROM. But if you want to root, use superoneclick to root.
And as for bricking, you can avoid hard brick by installing a ROM that does not have bootloader. Bootloader is a piece of code that runs before any operating system starts. So you should avoid flashing bootloader.
As for soft bricks, you can just reflash to come out of the soft brick.
okay so i was doing a bit of reading up and i realised the following :
1)First i need to download :
a) Odin (please post version number i have to get for my i5801 (or is it just one thing for all phones?) or a link please.)
b) some backup software. now i downloaded titanium backup, but it won't open because it says my phone is not rooted. so help me go about this.
c) a custom ROM. I think i'll start off with kyrillos rom since i've been told it's the fastest and very less buggy. i'll then move on to Dharam's ROM if i don't like kyrillos rom because Dharam seems to be a very active user, and quite friendly, and i feel he can solve the issues well. after that i'll try Indroid.
d) I also need superone click.
Question : Where do i download these? directly on my phone or on my computer?
2) I can increase my internal storage by partitioning a part of my SD card. Now I have a 4 GB SD card and i barely use it, so i don't mind giving upto 1GB of it. Please suggest the perfect amount. whether 1GB will be too much, or whether 500MB would be too less.
3) some apps do not work with custom ROMs. The app that i really want is 4shared. It's working currently on my phone with the stock ROM, so if someone can check if that will also work on the three ROMs that i mentioned.
4) soft bricking isn't much of an issue, but it's better i avoid it. so can someone give me a rather up-to-date guide (or link) on rooting, because the other ones are REALLY old. at least 4-5 months old and there have been some updates after that.
5) I can also overclock my phone. And from what I read up, SetCPU seems compatible with the above ROMs. And after flashing my phone with a custom ROM, my phone is automatically rooted. Correct me if I am wrong.
6) Flash player isn't available for our processor (V6). Since this is a hardware issue, there's no way i can make it work on some other ROM, can I? Because flash is a rather important software..
So that's it, I guess. Please add anything if i missed out anything.
PS : Does anyone know of any software using which I can download YouTube videos? Because the YouTube app kind of sucks, and buffering takes time since I don't have WiFi.
Wow!! Those are a lot of questions.
1) Link for ODIN.
ODIN>http://goo.gl/nCxCw
OPS FILE>http://goo.gl/ORin0
As for the backup software, Titanium backup is the best out there. As it can backup all the apps and all the settings. Yes you have to be rooted. So root and use.
And for rooting, use this tutorial,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011555
Don t worry about the oldness. This works. The link for superoneclicjk is available in that post as well.
Yes. Kyrillos is a good ROM. As it is prelagfixed and offer good internal memory as well after you partition your SD. Sizes, 512 MB ext4 and 128 MB linux swap. Rest of the memory you can use for storage.
As far as overclocking is concerned, in Kyrillos, you again have to flash a new kernel if you want OC.
And for the flash problem, only adobe can solve that problem.
And oh yes, most of the custom roms are prerooted. So after flashin you don t have to root again.

The rom is downloaded on your pc and flashed through it using odin.
I don't know any apps that work on stock rom and not on custom rom..... and 4shared works on kyrillos and indroid..... i've used it myself..
Most custom roms are already rooted and setcpu is the best app for setting CPU frequencies.
And as you said flash player isn't compatible with armv6 processors like ours.... so unless adobe makes it compatible no custom rom can do anything.
and for downloading youtube videos i'll suggest an app called you tube downloader or tube-X.......
Hope this helps...
Kernel
I flashed the indroid 4.0 Rom with Odin, and in short I will probably try to flash the indroid 4.3 Rom.
One question however, More and more I read about "kernel"(eg to get the 1% battery thing).
I know the kernel is the core of the operating system, but I don't understand how to use/apply it on my phone. Is the kernel something I have to flash separatly from the Rom, or is it included in the Rom?
If you need to install / flash it seperatly, where can I find the different kernels, and which one is recommended for my phone (Samsung Galaxy 3 Apollo)?
Hope someone can answer!
thnx

The kernel is included in the ROM itself. There are different kernels with different functionalities. For eg : - Most of the kernel that come with the ROMS are non-OC. So, if you want to overclock you phone, you have to flash the required kernel after flashing the ROM. The procedure is same using ODIN. Here s the link to the kernels.

Sorry for replying so late guys. Had a bit of an issue with the internet. Lightening struck somewhere near my house so it was down for a few days.
Anyway, thanks for all your help. I'll try to root+flash my phone day after as I have exams for two more days.
I'll post here if I have any other questions, but thanks a LOT for all your answers and help. But btw, what is the 1% battery mod?

if u have any other launcher like adw then go to settings > application > Adw launcher (for example) and press clear default.
Then press the home key, It should ask u to set detault launcher. Just click on the checkbox below and select touchwiz launcher.
Tell me if it works or not.
No I do not have any other launcher installed. At least it's not showing up there.. but i did try using the more latest version. 1.9.5. that seemed to work just fine. man, i was so scared before rooting this wondering what if something goes wrong. but that was easy
Titanium backup now and maybe flashing a new rom tomorrow (or in a couple of days, after my exam.) Thanks though! =)

n00b to rooting and CWM for P3113

First off love the N00b video at sign up that was hysterical, nice work to whoever made it.
Ok on to what I need to know:
I understand HOW TO root/flash a rom, my issue is kind of different than most peoples. I have scoured the web and this site for the files I need to accomplish this with my GT-P3113 build ending in LG5 however I am confused to hell.
1 place will say that CWM 6.0.1 is not usable on my device, another will say that it works fine and another will say to use TWRP (which might I add looks cool to use). Some will say that I need the expresso_wifi file to root my device, others will say use update.zip, and others will say a totally different file all together.
I know what ROM to get, I understand the steps:
Download drivers
Boot to download
use odin to install CWM
back up everything with CWM (which goes to the MicroSD I am guessing? since I wipe the device in a later step)
wipe the device
wipe the cache
wipe the Dalvik cache
flash the rom
flash the root
is all that correct? (just to make sure I got it right) so my biggest question is, which files do I really use? There is a thread from back in June before the 4.0.4 update OTA came through) saying to use instead of that if you have LG3 or etc.
Help would be greatly appreciated, I am a smart guy, just want to have my facts straight before I make this happen.
PS sorry if this is in the wrong place, figured this was the best place for it.
Please be sure and thank the person who decides to do your homework for you.

From someone relatively new to this as well, this is basically correct. Here are some tips from someone who has recently done it.
Make a backup.
Research the files you intend to flash, make sure they are right for your device
Verify the guide you are using has been tested and known to work.
This may seem elementary, but I didn't follow #3 and it cost me a lot of headache un-bricking my SGT 2.

Fully agreed! That's why I came to the experts. I have done my homework but the thing is my homework leads me to several different files from before the ICS update. There has only been 1 thread on 1 forum that has been post ICS update, and no real feedback on it. I think I even found one that uses ADB (I understand that concept, but would prefer not to use it since I don't know Linux well enough).
I would love to know what files to use, which ones to stay away from. As I said I have the concepts, I have the understanding, its the actual files that I want to verify, I can rattle off tons of files from tons of sites, but they may or may not be correct (and may have the same name as a correct one but still be incorrect, ie "update.zip" appears a few times on different threads from different time frames).
There is only post in the teamhacksung CM10 wiki that was last edited 8/12/2012, but that could have been anything that was updated, not the files/links to be used.
So I thank you in advance for your help, and you will certainly get a thank you in the forum for help you are providing, I always give credit where credit is due.
Well here goes nothing, going to reboot (to ensure the Kies drivers are installed and loaded into the system 100%), and try the instructions from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788625
It seems to work for most, the only concern I have is that I have a different end to the build than most others do (and I am not sure why?)
Did I screw myself?
I rooted, and have CWM installed.
Is it to late to create a ROM backup of my device for when i go to install CM10 (I need a drink for now, so I might install it tomorrow night lol).
That link I posted in the last post is good to go if anyone else needs a safe bet set of directions.
Seriously though, I didn't do a backup, am I screwed now?
EDIT: I just did a back up and it said no sdcard/.android secure found, skipping of backup of apps
and
no sd-ext found skipping backup of that.
is that normal? Did it backup to my microSD?
Still hope I didn't screw myself by backing it up after rooting.

Setting up from scratch

Hey guys. I would really appreciate it if someone could find the time to reply to my post and give me proper instructions. I want to set up my device from scratch using stock ROM. The problem is that I don't know the mechanics and the "proper order" of things to do in order to accomplish what I want. I would like to mention that a while ago I had UNLOCKED my bootloader so I am currently on unlocked bootloader mode.
So here it goes. What I would like to do with my device is:
1) Have stock SONY ROM (I don't like custom ones anymore) - I did this by flashing a GENERIC .ftf I found, using the latest version of Flashtool so this one is done.
2) I also completed rooting procedure. I downloaded this package which included an install.bat file , I ran it and after it finished my device was rooted. So this one is done as well.
Now what I need and I cannot find what to do (I would like your help and suggestions on that) is, a recovery and a custom kernel with native link2sd support.
How am I about to do that? Can someone point me with instructions as to how I can flash recovery and after that which custom kernel is good and supports link2sd?
Thanks in advance! :good:

Get stock ROM + TWRP + root for Lenovo k10e70 here

Finally, after more than a year searching, asking, try & error session, I compiled the safest method to get root and custom recovery for this phone.
As you know, there are very little support and resources out there for this model. Like the title said, I provide the resources within my knowledge and skills to help you.
I, myself debug this so you don't have to worry about making the same mistake I made. (What mistake you ask? Hmmm..)
This phone come with 2 variants. Mine is 1GB Ram but I'm sure this will work for any K10E70 as well.
Before you guys start all this, make sure you know what you doing. At least, prepare. Dig some more about the item I mentioned. Get to know what the "do" and "don't", because if you just ignore this, in between now to success, there a greater risk of your phone getting brick. Last but not least, do backup.
Okay, lets get started...
WHAT YOU NEED
#1 Courage (For trying something new..)
#2 Patient (Lot of it..)
#3 ROM (This ROM is built for China market, so there's no GAPPS since they had their own version of "Google". But don't worry, I got this covered..)
#4 Magisk - Systemless root
#5 TWRP custom recovery
#6 GAPPS (Optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Flashing ROM using stock recovery
- Place ROM in SD card root.
- Reboot to recovery. (Power button+Vol Up)
- Once you get in recovery, go to 'Apply Update from SD Card'.
- Find your ROM zip file, install.
- Wait till finish, reboot. (or it'll reboot itself, either one..)
- You have to understand that this ROM is meant for China market, so there's
a lot of Chinese bloatware. This is why you need root to remove all that.
2. Installing Magisk for root
- Install Magisk from provided link.
- Get boot.img from provided link.
- See, learn, and dig more here.
3. Flashing TWRP .img
- Get the TWRP .img from provided link.
- here how to flash and here to know what is actually TWRP .
Or
- You can download Flashify and flash from there. I can't guarantee the success but the possibility is there.
- Assumed you success, you'll find that the custom recovery is in Chinese (again..).
- Don't panic, I got this too. Changing the theme will also change the language.
- Get the Materialized-Dark.zip from provided link.
- Refer here how to change theme.
- Refer here to figure out the menu placing, which is which.
4. Flashing GAPPS (Optional)
- Get the GAPPS from provided link.
- Flash using your newly hot smoking TWRP
You can get all the necessary file HERE.
Million thanks and credits goes to topjohnwu for a magical Magisk, TeamWin for brilliantly TWRP, tasnim_tamim for TWRP Material theme and lastly for a some random Chinese guys and ladies who helping and providing me stock firmware. I hope there are more variety of support for this phone in the nearest future, such as custom rom, etc.
Have a nice day!
Great job, you are the man. Any help to root Lenovo K10a40 please, i think it's similar to your device and thanks in advance.

I think Magisk will do the trick, as long as you can pull out boot.img from your rom. Its worth a try. Good luck.
Any site has posted about the firmware/rom yet?

Rom already uploaded.
Does this work for K10 E40, or just E70 phones? Sounds like it's almost the same phone.
[EDIT] Just noticed that the k10e40 is the same as Lenovo C2 Power

Have a nice day!

flashing twrp via odin

Hi I just got this tablet GT-P5113. It has been a long time since i used odin or did anything with samsung devices. In fact I havent really had to do any modding in years because I switched to nexus/pixel and those just work snappy and clean out of the box. But samsung has far superior hardware so I want to breath new life into this. It is running 4.2.2 now. I dont need to put android 11 on this thing but something like 6 or 7 would be good.
I downloaded odin i see it has changed a bit. so to put twrp on this what part of odin do i use? BL, AP,CP, or CSC?
Most of the stuff on these fourms are outdated and the links dont work. once I get twrp on this I should be food to go and figure out the rest.
I haven't flashed more than 3 devices, but for TWRP it has always been AP in those cases.
If you flash a complete stock ROM it's much more than Recovery, so in those cases you flash separate files like bootloader (BL) etc...
Decide which ROM you want to try and read what Dev recommends in terms of Odin version and TWRP version. But a newer version than recommended should be fine (Odin).
I use 3.09 for my old P3100 but also 3.14 worked for me.
I also recommend getting the same stock ROM you already have from Sammobile.com + make a backup before modding.
For Root I have no recommendation. If Dev recommends Magisk for the ROM, try it and see.
The ROMs I tried was rooted with SuperSU 2.82 even if it's outdated nowadays. Our devices are so old so SU is fine if you ask me.
And most of the time it's SU in the ROM thread by the Dev anyway, so choose ROM and the thread for that and go from there
Android go apps
So I have the latest version of twrp on this and android is running really good and stable. The issue is it has no ram. Just basic with nothing else. Running it is taking up 85% of the system resources.
I found a. Zip that is supposed to. Enable low. Ram. Mode. But it fails on twrp install. It class. To work with devices 4.4.4 and higher. I did disable the Google app and install the lite version which helped alot and I got a memory cleaner app. Supposedly flashing this zip makes the system think it's android go and will allow to install go apps. I think this tablet would benefit greatly fr{m this mod. I was wondering if I have to mod the build. Prop. I will. I. Just want to know.Your thoughts on this matter as always thank. You for your opinions I respect. You and your advice. I found these two files on the web.

Are you talking about Low-RAM Property Patcher the thread is here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/mod-low-ram-property-patcher-android-t3737373
Perhaps your ROM doesn't support Go features, and in that case the developer has to update the ROM.

my rom is 6.0 will the one you linked to work since its for 8?
yeah the rom is basically bare bones aosp. But without anything installed besides gapps nano it uses 80% of the memory. I did disable the google app and install the go app and that helped alot. I am trying to enable low memory mode I found this:https://www.nextpit.com/turn-smartphone-into-android-go-device It says it enables low memory mode and then when you go to the play store all the go apps are availabe. so it looks like it tricks it into tinking that android go is the os. I dont know what the specifice differences are between android and android go besides go is a more stripped down version made for devices with lower end specs. They dont nmake a go version for the galaxy tab 2. Im just trying different things to make it work. This is how I learn how to do things. The great people at xda sharing their knowlage with me.

I did alot of work to get this thing back to life. First sammobile doesnt have the stock files anymore its too old. But one of the guys on the fourm had one and gave it to me. I had an older version of twrp installed and thats why i could not get anything higher than 4.4.4 or magisk. I found a newer version of twrp under the unified galaxy tab 2 development. Once i installed an updated version of twrp I was able to instal android 6 and root with magisk. it even passes saftey net. Now I am trying to disable as much as i can because it is using too mjuch ram. over 80%. It is a work in progress. Thank you for your tips. This is how I have always learned was by asking and the very knowledgeable people here at xda giving me tips. The development community is full of good smart people who like to share their knowledge.
Hello again,
I have the Tab2 P3100 and found stock firmware at Sammobile, but I had to register and become Premium user if I remember correctly. Old firmwares are archived.
Anyway... it looks like the thing I linked is the same that you linked.
I'm going to test it in my tab. My ROM is based on 6.1, will report back
Edit:
No, I get error message when installing zips and can't get it to work. LineageOS.
Best tip I can give is to install everything you want to use and then get rid of Gapps. Well, unless you use some Gapps stuff...

Yeah gapps are really memory hungry. I dont really need to use this tablet for anything special. Its more the chalenge than anything else. And I learn so much doing stuff like this. Years ago I got y first android phone the lg g2x. Not too long after that I discovered xda and just started reading and asking questions. Then one day I took the jump and learned so much just by asking the devs questions and you know getting them a beer here or cup of coffee there. I love xda for that.
