Singapore G935FD May Security Update - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Guides, News, & Discussion

Got the OTA update this morning. Updated to ADPQ

Always the same kernel as ADP1 and also old baseband.

received mine as well on 13-May. found out that the display scaling is now part of the display settings. I installed this before as a separate app. good job it is now included in the settings. I just don't like that the keyboard letters/font seems to be bigger than before.

S4 I337 4.3 Update resumes

The AT&T-branded Samsung Galaxy S4 is once again getting its Android 4.3 update as an OTA. After an unexplained issue with the last Android 4.3 push, everything looks to be getting back underway according to Samsung's site and early reports on XDA. This is a big update for the GS4, but AT&T is probably going to take it slowly this time.

Here's the full changelog from Samsung's site:
Android 4.3 OS upgrade
Samsung Galaxy Gear compatibility
Group Play 2.5
Samsung Apps
Knox
Drag and drop to uninstall or disable applications
Call reliability improvements
The new update is build number 1337UCUEMK2 – the last one was 1337UCUEMJ9. So Samsung had to change something, but the very short turnaround time indicates it wasn't anything major (some users reported keyboard issues on MJ9). The update is pretty hefty at 719MB if you're coming from the Android 4.2 software. There is also a patch from MJ9 to MK2 for people who got the last OTA that clocks in at just 28.07MB. Begin hammering the update button – no promises, though.
It's official. Check the original website given below.

Samsung s4 GE already got 4.4 update, I337 getting 4.3 now.
When can we expect 4.4 for I337 official???
There are more than enough threads for this already... closed

New update finally

Our trusty ol s7 got its updates to November security patch today. Nothing new that I've noticed, still on the old UX but I guess it's better than nothing. I heard the J7 from 2016 is now on UX 8.5, the same as the note 8 and 7.1.1? Oh well my next phone might be the mate 10 or an iPhone 8, still deciding but it won't be until next year.
Has anyone else thought of leaving Samsung and going to a different maker, I will but will keep the s7 edge, for gear VR.
Yeah I bought my two daughters the J7 and it pisses me off to see them with the new updates since Aug and we still lagging behind. This phone is only a little over a year old. Wonder why we don't get any love.

Nope. The phone works well and I have more important things to do than complain about a minor revision of Android that this phone is not currently on. I do find it funny that we now get virtually monthly security updates, and people still find something to complain about.
For the record, I have seen that this phone will make the jump straight to Android 8.0, skipping 7.1. That J7 that's on 7.1 is going to be stuck there.
This is the first Galaxy I have that I didn't root and put a custom rom on. Usually the phone runs like garbage from all the bloat warehouse but this phone has been solid stock

Besides the fact that if you have a US variant, you can't flash custom ROMS anyway. All US variants (S7 and S7 Edge) have locked bootloader, which prevents flashing of custom roms. Mine had started to lag a little from LookOut, etc. so I rooted it, and then just used Kernel Adiutor to set the governors correctly to eliminate the ENG bootloader lag issue.

April Security Update for V60 on AT&T

I got the system software update yesterday afternoon.
Android 10
Android Security Patch Level: April 1, 2020
Software Version: V600AM10h
This is the first update since I got my phone on April 1st, and it shipped with the February 2020 Security Patch.
Just an FYI for folks on the fence for whatever reason. A surprisingly timely update.
I hear T-Mo users got a similar update as well.
Edit - I can't seem to upload an image of my Settings screen.
Adding proof via screen shot.
I couldn't figure out how to edit an attachment into the original post.
Apologies for the double-post.
New update on AT&T just hit.
Still on the April 1, 2020 security patch, but the software version number jumped from V600AM10h to V600AM10p.
No idea what's new, yet.
Is there a way to turn off auto updates? I was in the middle of a video chat when it decided to install this update and reboot my device.
Update info from AT&T support page
Support page says it adds Dynamic Spectrum Sharing
Will not show as available for me on mine.
My LG phones NEVER update. AT&T tech says: "We'll push one out. It will come in 4 hours" but it never happens. They replaced my V30 and G8 over that. I've had my V60 since the week it was launched. No updates.

October update downloaded, no One UI 2.5 yet

Strange that they started rolling out One UI 2.5 for the note 9 but didn't for the S9 lineup as there were some articles about.
I just received the october patch update for my S9+ and I'm still on 2.1.
This means we may get it separately or may not get it at all this month.
I received the One UI 2.5 Update Yesterday, with the October Patch. S9+, Germany.
I wonder if whoever got the october update without it will get a separate patch or we'll have to wait until the November update.
November update and no One UI 2.5 yet in SM-96500.
One UI 2.5 installed about a week ago on my T-Mobile S9+. Nov security patch just about 1 hr ago.

Samsung quits support for the Galaxy S8

Well.. after all the drama Galaxy users had with their previous flagships regarding Software Updates, the Galaxy S8 is the next one to be silently ended by Samsung. They removed the S8/S8+ from their Security Update site, which means that the April 2021 patch was the last one we will ever see from Samsung's site on the S8. Maybe they will roll out an additional one, as they did last year with the Galaxy S7 (EOL: August 2020 patch), but thats not guaranteed..
Sad news but I already saw that coming last year, so I already switched to an iPhone.
Sad story.
How secure is using an unpatched phone with a good antimalware / antivirus ?
Alternatives?
Are there custom ROMs receiving security updates that can be used
with play store etc... without having root enabled?
I'm wondering this myself.
Is it time to buy a new phone and retire this?
My display is already cracked in two corners with small bits gone.
I'm not happy that there are no more security updates.
I have the same questions! I'd like to install a custom rom but the links all seem to be down.
