[APP][6+]Check for Doze Support [1.1.1-rc2][05/10/2016] - Android Apps and Games

Hey peeps of XDA!
I've made a simple app to check if your device meets the requirements for Doze!
I also added a new check that was missing, and has probably caused false positives (Saying the phone supports Doze, while it actually doesn't), please download the update and check again
I'll be updating it soon to add more info, and possibly add some more checks to see if Doze is actually working.

Bro if your device has MM, you have doze... why make an app for this?!

That's not exactly true!
Look here for the Doze requirements, it states that it needs two things:
Significant Motion Detector (SMD) APIs
Google Cloud Messaging
Not everyone has the sensors, and not everyone uses the Google Play Services Framework, so i made an app that makes it easy for users to check if their device meets the requirements for Doze!
This idea originally spawned from a discussion about Doze on the reddit Telegram group r/Android

That's not true buddy.
There are some devices for which marshmallow custom roms are available but they may not have the doze sensor hardware.
Even i have S3 and i have a flashed a android m custom ROM but my device doesn't support doze feature as there is no sensors.
Anyways kuddos to the developer for this app?

Hi, if I may ask, why did you use the support library in creating this? Since it only supports > 6.0 and you aren't using anything from the support library that a normal activity can't do, you can use have your MainActivity extend Activity and remove the support library from gradle, trim down the APK quite a lot.

It was automatically generated by Android Studio (And I didn't notice, oops), thank you for your suggestion!
It helps with improving the application!

Congrats, your app has been posted to the front page of XDA!

Thanks bro!
Was wondering why my redmi 2 never enter doze. Tried different roms as well. Your app gave the answer in a second. No sensor support

ISDP, thanks very much! This was great information.
At least I know now that my SGS3 GT-I9305 doesn't support Doze due to lack of sensors.
I didn't realise this up to now; however, I've just recognised the Doze-functionality built into my ROM.

I'll be putting it on the Play Store when the graphics are ready!

Hah, just wanted to test the App. Great work!
And just in case, anyone didn't know, OnePlus One does support Doze.

Hi,
When you guys say its not compatible do you mean it won't let you download from Google Play?
I have loads of Galaxy S4 users and CM users, so I'm not sure why you are experiencing this issue. If you can give me any more information I'll try and sort it!
You could always grab the apk from the website link if you're interested in trying it in the mean time.

WiFi scanning with WiFi off
GREAT app!
Would it be possible to trigger "WiFi SSID Transition" events when WiFi is off with Android 4.3's "scanning always availible" feature? That would be really nice (e.g. only turning WiFi on if a specific SSID is available)
It should certainly be possible. I'll add it to my longish TODO list and it will probably rise up the priority as 4.3 takeup becomes more widespread.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi! Very nice app! I played with it just a few minutes, but the list of triggers/actions is impressive! Thank you for sharing your work with us.
If i'm allowed to, I have a suggestion: what about allowing the user to execut a shell script (.sh) on a trigger? Maybe it could be useful for advanced users and low level actions.
Have a nice day.

You should be able to do this with the Launch Shortcut action using a third party app such as Secure Settings. It would certainly be nice for advanced users to be able to do it directly from MacroDroid so I'll add it to the TODO list.

Ah ok that makes sense, I've not tested on a device without Google Play installed as I've never before made the apk available via any other means. I'm guessing there is some dependency due to all the in-app purchase stuff that prevents it working. I'll try and look into it and see if there is any easy way to get over this.
Cheers,
Jamie
Hi all,
Just a gentle reminder that if you like the app, could you please take a few moments to leave a rating on Google Play. It really helps me out a lot and its very hard to maintain a high rating because people are only to quick to leave a bad review if they hit a problem or don't like something.
If you do hit problems then please let me know before leaving a 1 star as I will always do everything I can to resolve any issues.
Many thanks,
Jamie
Done!

Never seen this wakelock on any of my devices running various stock/custom ROMs based on Android 4.4, 5.1, 6.0 and 7.1 - most with a relative recent build of Google Play Services, Framework and 'core' apps. I wonder if this nasty was quietly addressed by Google in the intervening two years since being reported.
I have seen 'flat line' wake scenerios depicted in the referenced source article but that's typically associated with a borked GAaps install or currupt caches.

well, you might be surprised but my quoted "SystemUpdateservice"-wakelock is indeed the full name of that Google Play service.
Package Name: Google Play Services
Version: 10.2.98 (036-146496160)
Full Name (Path): CmaSystemUpdateService
Edit: Hmm, sorry I probably was wrong (
ok here they are: (took the full name of the App Disable Services)
com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateService
and here is another one that was hiding:
com.google.android.gms.update.SystemUpdateGcmTaskService
However, I dont get why there is no "Cma" being claimed in this name. Confusing

Yep - might still be there on older devices/ROMs that have not see a full Play Services and/or Framework update. My range of ROMs (4.4.4-7.1) suggests that by itself isn't a good indicator. I suspect the update service(s) fire on occasion but immediately exit. As personal practice I do not block/stop/limit anything that does not carry an undesirable consequence. Too many sour experiences that aren't immediatlely obvious.

Many background services quietly 'sleep' until summoned in response to a wakelock, broadcast receiver, etc. If the service determines there is nothing to do it goes back to 'sleep'. I have little concern over such items as they consume few resources. Some get fussed over reported memory usage but Android effectively manages that and only becomes a problem on older hardware with limited RAM (eg: <1GB) and pokey NAND. The low memory flag usually addresses that.

to protect your privacy and the privacy of others in the media environment.
When is PutMask useful?

Why is PutMsak a unique solution in this field?
Very high face detecting power:
PutMask is able to detect any faces, even a small square with dimensions of 10 by 10 pixels and at any angle (full face, half face). This feature is provided to you by PutMask for the first time at the smartphone level.
Two-way video processing:
PutMask can process videos in both directions and detect and obscure the faces that you want, which means that if you command PutMask to hide a face in any frame of your video, From the frame you set, PutMask will start processing video and face detection both in forward and backward direction at the same time (with FPS up to 300), which is also introduced at the smartphone level for the first time by PutMask!
How to use the face-track feature of PutMask
Object Tracking:
Now you can track any motions in video. This feature like the "Face Track" is a Two Way of processing and you can monitor the tracking result! (something like the motion-track feature in adobe premiere)

thanks for your great review, We have features that are being introduced for the first time at the smartphone level, which, of course, have not been easily achieved. We have been working on this app for almost a year.
The algorithm seems to be beautiful. When do we access to the source code?

We owe ourselves to the open-source community, so when we release the iOS version of the app, we will distribute the app code as well.

We haven't started developing the app for iOS yet. Although the core of the app (decoding, encoding, and video processing) is cross-platform, we still don't have any devices that we need to develop on iOS.
Unfortunately, we do not even have the money to buy these devices.
So we are waiting to see how much this app will be welcomed and it depends on how much you help when we start.

Looks like it might be Interesting But I can't seem to download it from Telegram (I'm not registered at Telegram), and there doesn't seem to be an .apk at GitHub?

Ok, found it on GitHub here https://github.com/mirfatif/WhatsRunning/releases even though GitHub says "No releases or Repo not found". Must be a bug there somewhere.

Not a bug but pre-releases don't show up as releases on GitHub.
Currently only the beta Pro version of the app is available for testing. Play Store version will be available soon.

@Mikirok Good day! Does this app allows user to block such system services, alarms or wake locks or it's just for the viewing purpose? Willing to purchase if it provides a complete solution like app such as Amplify or servicely (miss the good old days of android).
Here is the problem

For wake locks you can use our sister app PMX to set WAKE_LOCK permission. Even better approach is to set RUN_IN_BACKGROUND.
System services and Alarms cannot be blocked.
For app services and other components like broadcast receivers, a dedicated app is planned. But there's no reliable and universally working method to control this either. See this.

Not exactly. But WhatsRunning can show you which apps are running an Activity (the visible part) or a Service (in background). Definitely one of them must be the app you are looking for.
But we have another app PMX which can fulfill your need more precisely. Since SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW permission is required to draw over other apps, PMX shows you a list of all apps which used the said permission. A timestamp is also displayed.
