Possible G530A Revovery solution?? - General Questions and Answers

So I was strolling through fixing my phone (again), and I came across the revovery.img file in the firmware. I began to think wouldn't it be nice if someone could look at the file and find the part that allows a breach through secure download. Then add that to the CWM Philz touch file (found on another forum) I was wondering if that is in anyway shape or form possible? Sorry if this is a stupid question...

How to extract files from ROM

OK so that's the question...
I have an Omnia and it's branded by operator... I was told by a portuguese user (like me) that flashed his device and said that the XCHG5 is unbranded
The ROM is linked is in .nbo and .img format and is linked at Modaco.
All I really want to do is extract the launcher.exe, launcher.exe.0816.mui, launcher.exe.t1.skin (which my network provider so generouly altered and crippled) and the poweron/poweroff images and sounds... Though I'm not sure if some changes were made at registry (I have this one icon in the Launcher user defined shortcuts for MeoMobile that I realy want to remove but can't the way I add/remove other apps to it...)
Can anyone tell me which tool to use and how to use it?
And before anyone suggests it I do not want to flash my device.
Feedback appreciated
Bump...
It's been a week... Doesn't anyone know of an answer to this?
Sorry if this seems shameless but if I get it right my thread has only one week left and then will be deleted... And this thread was burryed under more recent ones.
I need to extract some files from different ROMs too, please help

[Q] Changing or deleting Parts of the Rom ?

Hey all,
I have been around here for some days now and got almost every Info I was looking for but now there is something...
I downloaded a Rom (Shipped and rebuild I think) and opened it with the HTC Image Editor. There I took the "os" and there the "imgfs"
There I found all the files, some where already known (the weather xml i.e.) and some I just messed around with after I extracted the files.
My Question now is : If I modify any file in this "imgfs" will it still be possible to flash this Rom ? And, is there a file that tells the Rom what to install ? Like a Autostart File or something ?
The Point is that I downloaded many very nice Roms from here and so on but every Time I find things I don´t need or I don´t want. So it would be nice to build my very own, small Rom just for me
I am 100% sure those Questions were asked already but I searched and searched... I really hope that someone here will grab his time and help me poor dummy out
Nice, very nice Forum !!
Thanks for any constructive Answer

[Q] Help with "Stock Android 2.2 Keyboard"

Hello, I recently upgraded to Android 2.2 (Froyo). I was unhappy with not having the (all so accustomed to) Android keyboard and began researching alternatives. I stumbled upon this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780683
I downloaded the file (.zip file) and succesfully got it on my phone. However, I do not know how to go about using a 'root' or what a 'root' is, and I also don't know how to copy the
"/system/app/LatinIME.apk
/system/lib/libjni_latinime.so"
to the system folder.
Any helpful responses will be greatly appreciated.
U r far far away from doing this....!!!!
Rooting is firstly necessary... Its the process where u get access to ur system files by deleting some system files via softwares and/or programming skills.. It also void your manufacturer's warranty..
Do not root only for installing a keyboard..!!! Its a big thing and not for beginners..!!
Then again u have to install custom recovery which is, kind of like bios in computer!! Via custom recovery u can install zip files!!
Good day

Thanks for your replies. I don't necessarily want to void my warranty- being a construction worker and all, phones need to be able to be replaced cheaply- so is there any other possible way to get a free keyboard like the Android 2.1 one? I found a free 7.1x keyboard that was good and easy to use, but you had to pay in order to get options (such as turning off that incessant tapping sound).
Any good free keyboards anybody can point me to that are simple to install?
try this link..
scroll at the middle of the page.. u will see a download option.. download those keyboard apps.. it can also run or other devices besides htc.. download your correct resolution keyboard (download all and see which works best for you)
you will download a zip file.. install the two apk's BY BROWSING TO THAT FILE USING A FILE MANAGER AND THEN CLICKING THE FILE...
GO HERE TO DOWNLOAD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=5475283
INSTALL THE ONE WHICH FITS YOUR RESOLUTION
TRY THE LAST ONE 1ST(LOWER RESOLUTION KEYBOARD)
AFTER U SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL THE TWO SOFTWARE GO TO settings->language & keyboard and then check mark the htc ime keybord..
then suppose u want to use it to text.. then open messaging-> new message
then press and hold the blank area where u type ur text.. select input method and click htc_ime keyboard..
also u may go to settings from the messaging and select htc_ime to use the keyboard..
GOOD DAY
Oh yeah!!
Unzip the files u download to your phone's memory card 1st!
I have the .apk files in my SD card. How do I install them?
browse to the files using a file manager.. the file manager is provided in every phone..
now go to the files.. and install them one by one.. to install select the file.. that is touch the files and then press install..
Thank you kindly. I should have mentioned I had a Galaxy S Vibrant. The one I downloaded did have a resolution too low but I guess i'll just try out a few more and go from there.
Again, thank you.

ROM Maker - Updated?

Hi All,
I'm looking for a windows utility, that can edit, customize and update an existing rom...
Basically, I am trying to tweak a Chinese rom to make it more INTERNATIONAL... However I'm not seeing many Windows (GUI) Apps that can do this, and if there is, they've been discontinued at ICS or earliest JB build.
Does anyone know an updated tool that can help me with this please...??
PhilzTouch is supposed to support this, but the package didn't work either...
Thanks, Lister

Philz touch is a recovery, not a ROM editing utility
Hi @DSA,
Yeah I'm aware it's a recovery, as I use it on my Note. However when I've tried to research looking for one of these Apps, some people suggested (and have seen in past, on unrelated topics) that with PhilzTouch you can clone your existing LIVE OS, and package it up to a Flashable Zip.
Well it did create a flashable zip, and it even puts it in a folder called "Custom Roms" which is based on a "Update.zip" file, even though it has a different name... However it doesn't flash, and when opened the file, it has .TAR files included and not a normal rom package.
So yeah, struggling to find anything that works... I came close to building/porting a rom earlier, however I received FCs afterwards...
Thanks, Andy

adb pull /system then zip with 7zip or winrar you will also need to make an updater script and updater binary for your device. with correct blocks so that the rom flashes correctly. so, you need to search for how to create an updater binary for your device and the correct blocks for data, system, and boot img. for your device. if cm has one for your device, you can usally download their rom zip and put all your info you pulled using adb into their zip deleting their's but note you will need your boot image to be pulled also which i do not know how to do

Samsung Galaxy S7 Active (G891AUCU6CSF2) - Unable to create or find combination file.

Hello lads, new poster here -
I've had a bit of an FRP issue with my phone, and after fiddling with this for a few hours, and searching for a few more (I ran out of google results after page 3), I've been completely unable to find a combination file for this specific model (U6CSF2). I've attempted to make one from a guide (Image attached), but the key step, renaming the AP file to a .zip and extracting some files, doesn't work as the new zip folder requires a password (Image attached as well).
Now, this password thing happened on two separate firmware folders I downloaded. Are these the same folders and one was ripped off and re-uploaded to a new site, or is this password a Samsung thing that someone here knows? (I was unaware you could even password encrypt a file just incase it gets re-zipped).
I'm a complete novice, probably doing something silly someone could point out, any help is appreciated, including this specific combination file if someone knows where to find it.
(I did try looking for the password around these downloads and by searching the name of the uploader, but to no avail.)
Turning it on and off again did not fix it. Any ideas?
