Bluetooth keeps turning on by itself after upgrading to Mashmallow - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Did this happen to anyone else? After upgrading to marshmallow, my Bluetooth keeps turning on even though I know I turned it off.

Same here

Still happening actually. Thought it was my Mi Band but its not

How about try Factory Reset?

I think that this has to do with your location services. If you go to location and select improve accuracy, make sure that you have bluetooth scanning disabled. leaving that on leaves the bluetooth on and allows your phone to connect to paired devices whenever.

I'm running a Marshmallow 6.0.1 Android TV Box (Build T5ZP0007) and I have the same problem with Bluetooth not staying disabled after reboot. If I have it disabled, it ALWAYS enables itself on reboot. This was occurring since I received the box before installing any apps. I checked the settings you mentioned but I have my Location Service (GPS) disabled. I've checked EVERY apps' PERMISSION and tried force quitting the Bluetooth Sharing app before and after clearing cache and data. Nothing worked. The damn Bluetooth still turns back on at reboot.

After all of that research,, I couldn't figure it out. Since I have root access, I ended up renaming Bluetooth.apk to Bluetooth.apk.disabled. Problem solved.

[Q] Wi-Fi won't stay off

I am quite given up with this issue in my phone; my Wi-Fi connection won't stay off. I want to manually activate/deactivate it, but it seems to have a life of its own.
This is apparently a very recurrent issue among Android phones, but the fix that applies to most doesn't apply to my phone. Most phones come with a Smart Wi-Fi, or in Xperia L's case, Location-based Wi-Fi, which you can disable and hopefully never have Wi-Fi respawn against command again.
In other phones you just have to disable notifications of present Wi-Fi networks, and the Wi-Fi can sleep tight until awoken.
However, I have disabled both modes, and my Wi-Fi still goes back on, no matter what. Can somebody shed some light?

I was looking for a fix rather than a workaround, but I will follow up on that Battery Doctor app, it may well relieve my headaches with this meanwhile.
However, how can I get some kind of debug log about the Wi-Fi activity (like events that trigger it on)?
I found a way to access debugging messages and these 3 messages appear on separate occasions but repeatedly:
Code:
Start proc com.sonyericsson.android.locationbasedwifi:service for broadcast com.sonyericsson.android.locationbasedwifi/.LbwBroadcastReceiver
Code:
Process com.sonyericsson.android.locationbasedwifi:service has died
Code:
D/WifiService( 776): setWifiEnabled: true pid=991, uid=10133
These are the only messages with relevant information about the wifi business. And 2 of these 3 seem to mention the "Location Based WiFi" service, which needless to say, was set to OFF in the Power Management Settings. However, this process has been rendered quite rebelious.
So, what I am trying now is to disable the "Location Based WiFi" built-in app from the Apps Settings (after having forcefully stopped it, of course) and waiting on to see if this application is the culprit.
Did you tried to disable (in Settings/Applications) wifi display mirroring and throw settings?
I have kicked off SomcWifiDisplay.apk and problem has gone. Of course my phone is rooted, if yours is not try to disable application in apps list.

Hmm, my phone is not rooted so that last suggestion is not an option, however I have searched for the mirroring and throw settings in the Apps settings and have only found "Screen mirroring", which I disabled as an application.
The problem seems to have become a lot less present. Yesterday I went almost through the whole day without it occurring once, but just as I plugged in the phone to charge it, the Wi-Fi turned on.
I have posted a similar thread to Sony's own forum, and they're telling me to repair my phone software with the PC Companion. I'm going to see how that goes and I'll report back to the community.

Tried that with repair already and problem in original untouched firmware disappeared for ... 2 days
Try to clear data of Smart connect, looks like misbehaving of Smart Connect (or at least this is less hurting decision).

Up to now I've had the problem virtually disappear; I had disabled the applications Location Based Wi-Fi and Screen Mirroring. Since I did it, my Wi-Fi only turned on once against my will when I connected my phone to the charger *—I didn't sweat it.
I am going to try your solution, and to be honest I'm quite offput by Sony's solution suggestion; I don't even use Windows/Mac plus I'd have to install the PC Companion.
Data cleared. Let's wait and see. :cyclops:

I am still hoping that your problem has gone. I do not have any more aces in my pockets beyond this. All my suggestions were based on my previous experiments.
Just clearing the Smart Connect's application data did not work for me. I enabled all Sony applications previously disabled and cleared the data of said application, but the problem returned. I have gone back to my workaround of disabling Location Based WiFi, Screen Mirroring and I have also disabled Smart Connect because these autoconnections have been all but smart.

[Q] Wi-Fi and Data gets enabled automatically, how to prevent this?

For past few weeks, the Wi-Fi & Data in my rooted LG L90 with Kitkat 4.4.2 gets automatically enabled. Earlier, when I disable these it stays disabled till I go and enable it.
I tried to restrict background data, turned off my Wi-Fi router at home, for data I created a new Access point in Mobile network and disabled auto sync, nothing worked.
I even tried applications like AutoData and others and these were of no use.
Please help me to disable Wi-Fi and Data permanently and it should be turned on only when I enable it.

Most likely you have an underlying app installed that wants to use WFi and phone data whenever it wants.
Go ahead and grab avast! Antivirus. This app allows you to control what apps use the Internet and when, as well as other features. Try disabling WiFi/data on each of the apps you've installed, and I can guarantee a 98.5% chance that this will solve your problem.

Installed Avast Anti Virus and through its Firewall settings, I was able to disable WiFi & Data to some extent. This is far better than my previous situation. Thanks for your help.
Maybe you can use Tasker to further curb this behaviour.

VPN connection after factory reset

Hello,
I just did a factory reset on my non-rooted, stock oneplus one running Android 5.0.2 and Cyanogen OS 12.0. theything seems to be just fine except VPN. I have used Open VPN on all my phones for years. It has been working flawlessly on the oneplus one. I currently subscribe to Witopia VPN and use manual configurations. Works like a boss. After the system reset, Open VPN app installs properly and previously used/ working configurations are loaded. Once an attempt is made to connect, Android by default opens a verification screen before final connection. When I click ok to connect, "OK" button is not responsive and have to cancel attempt. I have downloaded and tried multiple VPN's which use their own configurations. All these apps require manual verification to connect. The same system pop up appears with the choice to "cancel" or "OK." The result is the same with every single VPN app. The "OK" button is non-responsive and have to cancel attempt. This has worked AMAZING up to the system reset. I am lost and really bummed out. My last resort is to flash back to factory 4.4.4 stock again and hope problem will correct itself, UNLESS someone has a brilliant plan. Thanks!
Are you using any apps that have an overlay like Easyeyes? Because that's an Android security feature to prevent clickjacking. The workaround is to temporarily disable the overlay (e.g. disable Easyeyes) and then you should be able to click OK again.
BINGO!

BINGO!! You are absolutely 100% dead on! Not using Easyeyes, but have been using Lux Auto Brightness. I temporarily deleted app and VPN connects again! I will reinstall Lux Auto Brightness and just turn off when need to connect. Brilliant. I was preparing to reflash stock image and start from scratch. This saved me 2 days worth of unnecessary BS. Thanks!!!
You're very welcome

Phone Automatically Reboots (Data Usage Unexpectedly Stops Working)

Hey Guys.
Been having problems with my Z5 E6653 (5.1.1, Build: 32.0A.6.200) Lately unsure exactly what caused it.
The device is NOT rooted and using stock firmwares.
The device will self reboot randomly at times, however it appears I can almost guarantee it will reboot faster and is reproducible by enabling and disabling the mobile data and when being used as a hotspot. The 'Data Usage' tab under 'Settings' does not work it goes to open then force closes and says it stopped working.
Anyone have any ideas? You guys tell me where to get the logs from and I will post them here
One last thing.. In before someone says "Factory Reset" I know it will fix this issue as it did in the past however I am looking for solutions to fixing this without resorting to a factory reset if possible. I don't have internet at my house I rely mobile data and hotspots.
Stuff you guys probably want to know about.
Some stock apps are disabled "Google Hangouts, Movie Creator, File Commander" (I don't use these at all and until locked bootloader root is available they will be disabled until deleted with TB. I have disabled notifications for some downloaded apps namely games like Cut the Rope and so to remove silly toast and push ads.

I had something similar happen in LP, I suspect related to disabling some of the bloat. From your list I disabled all save hangouts, try to reenable them all then only disable one by one. Can't you upgrade to MM though, it appears this has been solved.

Yea I tried that didn't work. Ended up factory reset. Well MM isn't out on the Telstra operator. Been waiting for it though read a lot about bugs so I'll hold off until the kinks are worked out. Cheers though.
Not sure I agree that's it's been fixed - I'm on stock MM and have a random reboot at least once a week - normally when playing audio (PowerAmp) when connected over Bluetooth in the car.

When coming home, phone does only connect to wifi after the screen has turned on

Hi,
I am on C432B170. Whenever I change locations (physically), the phone only connects to the available (and already saved) wifi after I turn the screen on. It then keeps connection indefinitely. I also double checked, it is set to keep the connection always.
Or am I too impatient (it even happens after being within wifi range for 15 minutes)? What is the scan interval when the screen is off? Is there maybe a way to decrease that interval?
Thank you in advance

My Mate 8 connects immediately after I enter home while keeping the phone in my pocket without turning the screen on.
So there must definitely be a problem in your settings, or maybe a problem in your wireless router configuration.
If possible check your Mate 8 behavior with another wifi network.
In fact, it happens also at work. and my Mate S (with Android 5) connected immediately.
Do you have wifi+ enabled or disabled?

Not enabled, it might creates problems keeping the phone always on mobile data connection instead of switching to wifi..

How are you sure that wifi connection is not active?
Only because you can't see the wifi symbol on the status bar as soon as you turn the screen on (it might be due only to a delay in the screen refresh), or have you checked otherwise?

I checked the dhcp log in the router and it also matches the time of when I activated the display
What battery saving plan are you using?
And check advanced wifi settings: always active on standby is enabled?

Performance
Always active (as stated in initial post) (Battery history also shows that WIFI was on permanently)
Well, other possibilities are to delete the wifi connection and recreate it (if not already tried), and eventually perform a Mate 8 factory reset.

also known as "I got no idea, try this standard thingy". I already resetted the phone - without any third party apps I noticed the exact same bahavior
Unfortunately, if you can't solve the problem in any way, probably your Mate 8 is somehow faulty in the wifi compartment, and need to be sent to Huawei for repair...

That's like saying: "If notifications are delayed, you need to send it to huawei for repair"
If wifi works fine otherwise, it must be a software problem.

I honestly don't think so, AFAIK till now nobody here (and on the other forums I attend) has posted a similar problem with the Mate 8, so IMHO it shouldn't t be a Huawei Android 6.0 problem.
But anyway, this XDA thread now might be read by some other people who could possibly confirm the same problem, so you'll see if you're not alone...
I do have same problem on KanVIP Slim on a AL10. The wifi wont connect until i open the screen nor at home or at work, did test it with WIFI+ enabled or disabled.
Also i have noticed that the login webpage wont show when i'm connected to a public free WIFI that require web login.
Waiting for the new 172 version of the ROM to see if any improvements.
