Imei is rewritten, but phone serial number is changed to Android serial number (not the same as on the back of the phone), dont know if that has anything to do with no sim issue or not.
I wrote correct serial to a file in efs folder, and it showed correctly in the phone settings, but after CM flash phone sn reverted to Android sn.
Really not sure if it is a hw or sw error, tried few 3rd party repair shops, but it seems to me that they know less than I do.

Hi, I am using Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 for couple of weeks. 2 days ago I found a problem that showed me "Insert sim card". I gave my set a master reset and then the set was ok. But I got the same problem today. I tried the same way. This time master reset is not working.
My IMEI is 354949040415515. PDA:I9003DXKB1, CSC:I9003OLBKB1. Firmware version:2.2.1, .
If someone knows about it. Please help me. I will be grate full to you.
I think you have problem with contacts of your sim card. Try to clean them. Also you can try to show your phone to the service. I don't think this is problem with your firmware.

First advice is never post your IMEI no. in public thread.
As IMEI is intact there should not be any network related issue due to non registration of your device at centre of your network service provider. I feel it could be hardware issue with the SIM card slot. But not necessarily hardware, it could be even problem with your SIM itself. If its used for longtime. first test with another SIM card, may be from a friend or a family member and make sure its not a sim problem. Then if you some how you think it could be related to Firmware you have DXKB2 FW available for flashing as single PDA file. You can upgrade by flashing it from the I9003 firmware thread of Krrazyy or from Samfirmware.com. If that does not solve your problem, take it to service centre for hardware repair. All the best.

Hey, I flashed with DXKB2 last night and my phone acted ok for couple of hours. Then the problem has started again. Another thing is, now it doesn't show my IMEI in setting option or after pressing *#06#......even after pressing *#1234#, it shows me the PDA and CSC, but it shows "Phone : Unknown". Is it a network related issue? If yes, wht to do now. Thanx for the previous comment.

Not network you wiped your phones IMEI with the flash .
You backed up your EFS folder then just restore it .
NO apart from why not you need to find the EFS restore thread that may help .

Thanx buddy.......Another thing I want to inform you my phone shows "Baseband Version : Unknown". I showed it to the customer care and they said that the problem is with Baseband version. They also said that it's a software related issue. But my problem is it showed the IMEI and Baseband Version for 2 hours after my flashing. Then it started again. What type of flashing is going to help me?
Another thing, Can u please tell me or give me a link about restoring the EFS folder? I searched it in google.. but no result!
In addition I am using it from Bangladesh. As far as I know it is not officially launched here. Do I need any unlocking process? If yes, how can I do that??
N.B: Even kies is unable to connect my phone right now!!!!
I have the same problem
Hi, I have exactly the same problem on my Galaxy SL i9003. Did you finally manage to solve it?
to restore imei you need to have backup of your working imei efs folder.i see you have your imei number written here not sure if it is possible to mode efs folder to fit you phone.

It's been a long time. I was frustrated and stopped trying of repairing my phone. Now I see some light. Some people are talking about efs restore. I samsung captivate, a developer showed the way to repair imei and product code without even using pc.
Is it possible in I9003?
And hey, can u please tell me now whether I can mode my efs with that IMEI.
Please help.
this could be a hardware related issue also !
may be the pin where the sim card is inserted went inside or was bent..
or else insert any other sim card and see if ur phone works or not..
3rd this could be a corrupted sim card problem.. my sim card got corrupted and no matter in which handset i put my card in the phon won't boot ! btw it was a BSNL sim card..

If you made a backup of your efs folder, then via CWM it is possible to restore it. If such a backup does not exists, then things are really complicated. maybe you can use the backup of some other EFS from a different i9003, and try to modify the IMEI with yours that can be taken from outside the box. I don't know if you can do the last procedure but some expert maybe can!
Good luck.
I had a similar issue with another phone and sim card, similar to the contact issue. why not take out your sim and put it on a flat surface to see if it's still flat as it should be? if it got hot and became slightly warped, you'll have to bend it back (CAREFULLY!!!) so that the contacts are in contact again
if this is the case, you have to get a new one at your service provider so it doesn't keep happening...
Moved to General section since it has nothing to do with development.
Unless it does and I somehow missed it, if so just pm me and I'll move it back.
And see if u inserted sim card d wrong way.. It happened to me..
Sent from my GT-I9003
I got this problem too.
It suddenly happened to me when using stock room (xxkb1, if i'm not wrong), and in that time i never flashed anything in the phone, so probably not a software issue.
I tried rebooting billion times, put another sim card, cleaning the contacts, factory resets, prayers and nothing worked. But the weird fact is that sometimes it starts working out of nowhere for 2 or 3 hours and then it stops. It confuses me, because it means it's not hardware too. So then i tried updating to xxkpe and xxkph and the problem still remains.
My sim card is not bent, its not inserted in wrong way, the sim cards work in others phones, shows "Insert sim card" when i try going into network settings, doesn't show my IMEI in setting option or after pressing *#06#......even after pressing *#1234#, it shows me the PDA and CSC, but it shows "Phone : Unknown" (like OP), and i didn't backup the EFS. Everything else in the phone works great..
Could you guys help me out? I live in small city in Brazil and bought the i9003 in Paraguay, there are no samsung customer care or similar nearby.
HI GUYS...
I UNLOCKED MY SAMSUNG GALAXY INFUSE AS USUAL, AND ITS OK "UNLOCKED"...

Yep, a borked imei number will not allow you to connect to your cellular network...
I'm guessing that your efs folder wasn't backed up... you can try this...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881162
I haven't tried this but good luck.
thank you brassguy...
but does this work for infuse 4G ?
In addition, I read that we can change the IMEI number using the ADB, or is there another way to do this?
Also, what about the GSII_repair app, can I use it for my phone (infuse 4G)?
i had this problem last night where i flashed a rom. i return it to stock and imei showed up.
was having a imei" unknown error" and i backed up now on my computer.
ps ebay sales unlock service for 0.99$ if you didn't buy the code and just hacked it with hex or whatever
mine is already unlocked and it's permanent
i do travel over seas alot
But i returned mine to stock many times but the imei number still like this.

I had this issue with my first Galaxy S6... I went into the three shop and checked my sim and that worked with another phone, but my phone would not accept any other SIM card. I was told to send to Samsung for repair, luckily I was in my 30 day amazon exchange period so I just sent back to supplier and bought a new one.
Same poblem here.. When i insert sim card, the phone restart and when enter in Android show message... "Error occurred while unlocking network... Network unlock code block".... Its a Japan Docomo network.. U think that can resolve it with a subsidy code? To unlock a sim?
Solution needed urgent

If you dont have backup for efs folder and radio folder you need to fix it with octoplus box if you have warranty take it to samsung or if not visite repair place and ask for octoplus compatible with s6 but
This is what you get

And if some one ask you about s6 the answer is dont say s6 its s sucks
Enjoy samsung junk smartphones
you mean the stock firmware cant repair my Efs and we need to fix it by octoplus box ? but here is not the problem of efs. my phone showing exect imei and s/n everytime...
Hi guys!
Yesterday my firmware update went terribly wrong and now I have a device that states that imei and baseband are unknown, so I my both sim-cards don't work.
I've tried several types of IMEI restoration, but none of them worked.
Unfortunately I don't have any backup for nvram. So, my guess is that there is a problem with EFS partition on the phone.
In QPST NV RF Manager I see my real IMEI from the box, so I guess it is still present, but my baseband doesn't work. Can you please suggest any help on recovering the baseband? Or if it is possible share with me modem backup or nvram backup without IMEI (I've seen on this forum that one guy with Samsung S3 had a kind of the same problem and he was given a working nvram backup without IMEI (IMEI was 0/00)) I can write my IMEI then, if baseband works again. Will appreciate any help.
Send it back. Only the oem is legally able to mess with the IMEI.

Well... I have managed to make it work again and my original IMEI is back. The only thing I had to do is to restore a working NVRAM backup (from another device) via QPST. So, it wasn't that hard. Much simpler than sending it back to China.

If you restored the file from another device then it won't have the right IMEI.

It HAS right IMEI, I checked it with the original box. No need to put up an argument about it. Both devices (mine and the one which was backupped and restored from) are working fine, bot have ORIGINAL IMEI numbers and no errors considering networks or MI accounts. So, actually I have no idea what you are trying to tell me.

I'm not making an argument. I'm trying to figure out how a number which is supposed to be hard coded into the file is then restored by restoring the files from a different device.
As these devices are not sold in the states learning as much as possible is a good thing.
Glad you got it working.

Okay, sorry. I will try to make it a bit clearer=) This device is not sold in Russia either (officially at least), so the only way to get it is to buy from aliexpress or ebay or anything else. In that case the buyer doesn't get any guarantee or official support. So if the device is broken and can't be restored it turns into a garbage. I believe that in the US the situation with that kind of devices is almost the same.
Now, if You are not familiar with QPST it is a software package for qualcomm based devices which can make backup/restore of some non-firmware software from the device (like IMEI, ESN, Baseband, LTE Channels etc). As for IMEI number, basically, as You've said it is hard coded into device so it is pretty hard to get it changed or fully deleted. Here we come to my case of unknown Baseband and IMEI. Though via phone settings I could see: "Unknown", my IMEI didn't change and was stored in the device. The "error" or smth like that happened after the factory reset and my guess is that the file structure of NVRAM was changed. So, backup of NVRAM taken from the working device didn't actually have IMEI or ESN in it, but it has the right file structure without any errors. That is what happened, the file structure was restored without changing any factory numbers.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask

It is almost the same with a few exceptions. One being that their devices are banned from all people that work for the government, sometimes they get stopped at customs due to copyright issues and with the latest news about them coming loaded with malware, most won't buy them.
That makes sense in a way. Not sure why a factory reset would mess up that part of the device as it shouldn't touch it.
Thanks for the info.

Hi! Have you tried flashing China developer rom with Miflash?
Second option: Connect to your PC and run QPST according to one of the manuals (in order for your phone to show up as a COM), run RF NV Manager and look up your line 550 NV_IMEI if it is filled with numbers that are the same as on your box (check HEX above them and numbers should resemble yours from box but written in opposite direction, eg: on the box it is XXXX69XXXXX in the QPST it will be 96). So, if your IMEI is at its place than all you need is a working device from someone to make a backup. Backup must be made in newer versions of QPST in *.xqcn format and than restored to your phone with checked box "allow ESN mismatch"

There is a thread in official forum where one guy shares qcn backup. There is also an instruction to restore IMEI and baseband. But It doesn't help for me. Network still unavailable.
Hi guys. I'm posting here in a desperate attempt to solve my problem.
A year ago I purchased an used N8000 with Omega 4.1.2 ROM installed, and worked very good. But a couple of days ago, I flashed my tablet to get the 4.4.2 update, because I need some apps not compatible on old versions.
Everything is ok except for the fact that my sim card is not recognized anymore, if I select the operator manually, I get a "network not available" error.
I made a lot of research, with no results so far to fix the problem. The only thing I learned is that I think it has something to do with the baseband version. Currently I have the N8000XXUDND2 version, the IMEI is ok.
I live in Paraguay, the 3G band of my operator is on 850MHz.
If there's no solution, can I just downgrade to the omega rom by flashing as usual? Or the process is different?
Thanks in advance

I got it from here: www(dot)droidopinions(dot)com/how-to-update-galaxy-note-10-1-gt-n8000-to-4-4-2-kitkat-official/

Tried flashing the modem I had before, still no signal. I think I screwed my tablet.
when u flash a rom then downgrade it the phone's imei code gets changed which causes "no network" error .
I'm trying to figure out restoration process of original imei code for my device too.

I don't even know how can I check the original imei of my device, since I forgot to write it down. On phones they are usually printed behind the battery, but this doesn't have a detachable battery.
If your IMEI is wrong then restore your backed up EFS folder .

It's written at the bottom back of the tab & on the box seal as well. Or dial *#06#. I tired hard reset & stock rom still imei error
I checked and indeed there's the original imei written at the back of the tab, and it's not the same number as of dialing *#06#. Don't know how to restore though since I didn't back up any efs folder.
You can do a search on XDA there are a number of posts regarding users that failed to backup EFS and null IMEI .
I have the same error, after root, imei and baseband are gone.
don't have efs backup
