Swipe and then pattern??? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hello all, Question... So i have a patter to unlock phone...
When i hit button to turn on phone it wants me to swipe then it showed pattern and i have to enter it... That is dumb.. I want to just be able to turn it on pattern and get in? Can i get the swipe out of the way or is this just the way it is????
Thanks!!

Its very annoying to have to do it twice to get into the phone...

You'd have to install a different lock screen app. Or switch to using fingerprints, as you can then just press+hold to turn on and unlock the phone.

This is the main reason I use fingerprints. the double move to unlock drives me mental.

App that switches lock mode

Hi, sorry to every mod or admin that will have to move this topic in case this wasn't the right section for this post. I'm kinda new here and i didn't know where to go.
I was wondering if there's an app that makes you able to switch from regular lock screen to pin lock screen.
When i'm home and i lock my phone i don't need to put the 4 digit pin code every time because i'm alone, no one is going to steal my phone, but then when i'm out i'd rather my phone to be protected with a pin code. I was wondering if there's any app that lets you do it from the home screen without going through the settings and change it which can be long at times..
Or also an app that would let you lock the phone only when you click on it letting you keep your phone on the standard settings.. Hope I was clear.. thank you everyone.:good:

Fingerprint unlock probem / question

I have the s6 non edge and have setup fingerprint unlock and my Wi-Fi at home and my pebble are setup as trusted devices. But every time I want to unlock the phone, I first have to wipe up at the loch screen and then I have to unlock via fingerprint. Is it possible to setup the phone so I don't have to wipe up first?
Thanks
You mean when you have the fingerprint setup as a login option you have to swipe up first?
When I setup fingerprint as an unlock setting all I had to do what unlock the phone and put my finger on the sensor, I dont have to wipe up or anything.

So here is the gist. When using fingerprint and trusted devices, when the lockscreen comes up, dont swipe the lock symbol. Swipe anywhere else on the screen and no fingerprint needed.

Thank you very much for this info! - I was so used to swipe my finger for unlocking that I overlooked the Lock Icon at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to lock your Device again just swipe the Lock Icon that appears while your phone is unlocked via the Trusted Device.
Note: This is also working on S5 an S5+ Devices!
Thank you!'! This has been driving me crazy on my S6 edge +. How unintuitive, but you are right. ???

Turning off screen and lock without Power Button

Hi guys. As the title says, it would be great to not have to use the power button at all to unlock and lock the device again and again.
Now obviously to unlock it, all i have to do is touch the fingerprint scanner.
And to lock it again i have tried apps from store and though those do the job and lock the device but then phone doesn't unlock by fingerprint scanner and it just wakes up and asks for pin to unlock.
Kindly help out.
I am kinda spoiled by knock On/Off feature on LG G4 and never used the power button on that thing.

You must use finger sensor to unlock and circle to lock. No other way. Huawei don't have double click lock/unlock. Bad thing. I see to another phone.
What if you try lock widget (chinese version & I'm not sure if it includes in international or European versions)
Use fingerprint quick action
Lock widgets require admin permission to work and if you lock with widget then fingerprint scanner takes you to pin code screen instead of unlocking the device.

Juat tested with Nova Prime and configured the double tap to turn off the screen.
But that also required admin access and after turning off screen that way, fingerprint scanner brings me to pincode screen again instead of completely unlocking the device.

Double tap Mate 9 not have. Bad. Lock widget not have international version. Only circle, but you must double clock on this quick tool to lock. Mate 9 not have user friendly features like my old G2, G4 or Z11. Mate 9 have only big price. ,)
try using this software from play store. it work very well on my mate 9
Using screen lock app.
Clicking on the icon turns off the screen and lock the phone just fine.
But then when you use fingerprint to unlock, it'll take you to this screen instead.

I saw this "floating dock" on my set too, and it's come with stock ROM.
Some detail can find in this website:
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/140...-tricks-take-charge-of-your-mate-9-p9-honor-8
I use Nova Launcher gestures together with Anywhere Launcher to allow me to turn off and lock my screen using a downward swipe from the upper left corner of the screen in any app. It's very convenient.
I'm on C636B188 and that includes the screen lock widget, so you can use that.
Originally, I thought I would prefer it to the floating dock, but after getting used to the dock I like it more because you can access it from anywhere, not just the home screen.
The "Custom Navigation Bar" app has that functionality.
You can add an extra button on the navbar to put the phone to sleep instantly and unlock your device with fingerprint sensor.
I don't know if any other app of such kind.
At least I have this Screen Lock widget directly on my phone. Fingerprint opens the lock just fine after locking it with this widget.
You can use a Nova gesture to lock the screen, but don't use Nova's Screen Lock action in the first tab. Instead, swipe to the last tab on the right ("Shortcuts"), and look for Screen Lock there.
Unfortunately, though, this no longer seems to work on Oreo. Whenever, I try to select the Screen Lock shortcut, I get a message saying 'App isn't installed.' I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that they replaced the Floating Dock with the Navigation Dock.
i just update the stock firmware, yes, the latest stock 188 rom has built in widgt for turn off the screen. it is very handy.

I have a Huawei Nova 2i & was looking for the same. Go to Smart Assistance & activate Floating Dock.

Double Screen Lock on Android O

Hey guys, I recently took the update to the latest (and last) Android O beta and I've noticed that now I have to unlock my phone twice everytime to get into it. I use double tap to unlock my phone. On 7.1.2, I could double tap, then immediately swipe to be in the phone. Now when I double tap it just displays the time. I have to double tap again, then swipe to unlock it.
I feel like this is something simple that I'm missing in the settings to disable. I've played with the Display settings and haven't been able to figure it out.
Anybody know what I'm missing?

I use the finger print reader to unlock but mine worked as expected. Double-tap turned on the screen and my finger unlocked it. Now, it took three double-taps to wake the phone but that's a different conversation. [emoji52]

The 2 double taps being required is normal behavior sadly. I've seen no option to change this either. It's most likely to prevent accidental wakeups and so you don't fully wake your screen unintentionally when just looking at a notification to save power. :silly:

Normal for Android O? I didn't have to do that with M.
The power button only requires a single swipe and the finger scanner unlocks directly to the home screen. I lock and unlock my phone all day (at work). Usually it's on my desk, propped up with a kickstand case so double tapping is easiest for me. This is driving me crazy.

It drives me a bit nuts too but I'm pretty sure it's part of the new ambient display which is less useful than before, it hides the notifications as little dots after it initially goes away..

I believe that since google will be copying other guy having always on display,. This is the reason why the are doing this.
Always on display will be one of the pixel 2 main feature. They are probably testing to see how it works has a ambient notification. I like nougat notification better.
Yea, I'm not that impressed with O so far. Even if I turn off ambient, I still have to double tap twice. Good thing my bootloader is unlocked. I'll flash the patch for this the day someone releases it.

Question How can I disable the lock screen? I mean REALLY disable it

Hi there . I've been using a Galaxy S10 for the past 3 years. When I flicked open the cover, it went straight onto the home screen, without ANY lock screen, not even swipe.
I did disable the lock screen on this Xiaomi 12T, but I still can't get rid of a screen that requires me to swipe before I get to my home screen. How can I get rid of it?
Thank you in advance!

Not possible and this prevents an app from accidentally launching.
Damn . Since I have a cover with a latch, apps accidentally launching are a non-issue
Another case of product design which sacrifices customization in the name of "saving the majority".
Ouffff. Anybody know any workaround? Other than rooting the phone
No workaround, without rooting and this remains to be verified, except maybe with an AOSP rom.
I believe in the extended settings/ developer options (to activate hit several times miui version in detailed cell phone overview from settings) it is possible to deactivate lockscreen.
