Using an external Wlan Adapter with Linux Deploy - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i dont know if this is the right section to ask my problem.....
I am using Kali Linux with Linux Deploy on my XT1032 now for a long time, and a few days ago i bought the TL-WN722n wlan adapter to experiment with some wlan attacks...
But i figured out that it isnt just plug and play.
So first of all i have a general problem, when i try to list my usb devices with lsusb i get: unable to initialize libusb: -99.
I´ve already heard that i have to build a custom kernel for linux deploy to get my Wlan dongle to work....
Could anyone give me some advises to do this?

dl kernel source and a 4.9 androideabi toolchain, make falcon_defconfig, make menuconfig, select wifi driver, make the kernel and swap new on with the kernel packed in the ramdisk of your rom.

Could you send me those download links, and write steps.
I am kind of a noob xD

Their post says:
Andy RootKit 2.1 is ready!
Now with root AND unroot! It should also work better than the previous version.
Instructions:
1. Extract the .zip to anywhere
2. Run AndyRootkit21.exe
3. Choose whether to root or unroot
That's it, enjoy!

Your tool did the job on my previous Andy, not sure what version was. Thank you very much.
The latest version of Andy came these days and it's much more improved. However the AndyRootKit application doesn't work with the latest version of Andy emulator. Does any of you know how to root version 0.41.1010??
Any helpful reply will be much appreciated.
I can't post links but...
there is a facebook group called AndySupport
Search that for rootkit 3.5 and you will find it.

Cool, finally a custom lollipop rom for our device..and it's not for the wifi variant, darn xD..But, I have to ask, I know this is PURE AOSP, but, what would be the advantages of using this ROM vs stock rooted lollipop w/ nvidia's binaries?
If I have time, I'll give this a shot tomorrow!

ASOP roms are only this size. You need to add GAPPS later.

This is running well. Only issue I see is lack of a camera. Drivers missing I suppose. Very stable, daily driver for sure! Thanks !

WiFi doesn't connect automatically, you have to go into settings and click connect.
Installed and running good so far. Like pjim, I also noticed that the camera's are inop. Another thing I noticed is that I'm unable to mount my 64GB NTFS formated uSDCard. I checked the fstab files and the /storage/sdcard1 entries have vfat as the partition type. I tried editing them manually and rebooting, but I'm not having any luck so far.

the fstab is on the initramfs, it will always get reset on reboot. if you want your changes to persist, you need to unpack the boot.img, make the changes, repack and flash

That explains everything. lemme see if I can figure this out. Thanks for the tip
I also own the 32GB version but I live in Europe (Germany). I don't use LTE at all so will it run on my tablet?

The advantage is that it's clean, there are no proprietary apps or services.

This ROM is built against the LTE US (wx_na_do) board, not wx_na_wf. That means wx_na_wf is not supported.

Name of wifi module

I successfully booted in Cloudy with my custom kernel, however wifi is broken. Can anyone point me into the direction of the wifi module. I collected all the .ko files and placed it in my zip, but wifi is still broken. Thanks in advance.

Well just adding governors in right now. It's Linaro -O3 4.9.3 optimized. This is my first attempt at compiling a kernel. So the only thing I've added is Intellimm. But I have to upload my source to git hub and then I'll post it here. I've found some workarounds to the wifi and I'll see if I can get a build out this weekend. It works fine in 20f so I am trying to figure out which module to load when I am in cloudy. Also I plan to do all these: OC, UV, more governors/schedulers, fastcharge. First I need to figure out the wifi issue.
Cool good Deal man... Many people are awaiting for a lollipop stock kernel. I'll add it to my Index thread once its posted

I already compiled it but couldn't flash it right. I tried to use your Moto G peregrine zip to flash it ( I took out reference to the peregrine but a no go.) I am going to try to abootimg it into a newly built newboot.img to test it out more and then I will let you know more. Thanks.
Made the boot.img but it didn't boot up.
That's weird, I got this directly from LG. Did you flash the boot.img in twrp or fastboot?

The problem I'm having is I don't know how to flash a zImage-dtb to a device. So I tried the abootimg and yes I tried it through TWRP. I can't get a dt.img to compile. I am trying to build TWRP from source so I am going through Google to try to find a way to get it flashed through a flashable zip. I am using the lv3_mpcs_us_ defconfig to see if that was the issue as I used the perf defconfig.
You could just try the command in cmd:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

How did you compile the TWRP recovery? With a kernel only? Cause if we have a solid recovery. Custom ROMs can follow.
