So I mainly use shield tablet for world of tanks blitz. Love the tablet and how it performs with only one issue.
When I'm holding the tablet in landscape, my fingers will swipe close to the edge of the screen and activate the navigation bar to pop up.
I would like to be able to completely disable that bar to pop up and maybe like install a pie control to pop up on specific areas of the screen. Yes I'm rooted.
Any suggestions are appreciated and will be tried. Thanks guys.
Attached is a screenshot with how the bar looks like on top of the game.

After watching a demo of the new BlackBerry 10 today, it occured to me that Android doesn't need the navigation bar taking up screen real estate. The back button can be replaced by swipe from left edge into center (similar to pulling down the notification bar on top). Swiping from bottom up brings up the menus. And swiping from right to left can either go home or with a second up or down flick go to recent apps (or switch these two).
Once this is implemented, manufacturers can get rid of the bottom capacitive buttons, increasing screen size while keeping phone physical size constant. Android can finally get rid of the navigation bar that wastes so much space.
Make it happen I'll test but I like my soft keys

Well, that's a thought. Personally, I'd just put the softkeys into the statusbar and get rid of the navigation bar altogether.

Apparently the Ubuntu smartphone OS has all these edge swipe gestures in the plans:

I hate the idea that the nav bar disappears when you are playing a game, has anyone found a way of making the nav buttons always stay visible even in full screen? This would please me
Thanks

Pull up from the button in the game so you see the buttons plus the icon for the menu beside them. Press menu and set full screen off and reboot as it will tell you to.
In some games, turning off full screen still hides the nav

Same here. Love my S8. Just set up my DeX today...amazimg. only thing I don't like is the soft keys for the nav bar on bottom. But, there's an easy fix. Pull up the bar and you'll see a little hollow circle to the left. Tap it. It will turn solid and turn your soft keys to a fixed, always on navigation bar! Love it. Now it is the perfect device. I HIGHLY recommend the DeX btw. Its a game changer for any business person on the go who needs multiple full office set ups. Hope this helped!

Hi. Can you tell me please what is DeX and how to set it up? Thank you.
Dex is a dock to allow you to use the s8 as a chrome book, just add a blutooth keyboard and mouse connect the HDMi from the DEX to a tv or monitor and you now have a chrome book running from your phone, oh and it charges it as well
Guys I'm absolutely in love with the functionality of the iPhone X's home button. If there's a developer out here with a kind soul can you please make an app/mod that gives the S8 that exact functionality? A thin bar that you grab and pull up to go home, slide up and hold for a second for multitasking, and swipe back on it to go back. It's genius and a much better implementation when compared to Android's virtual buttons.

Swipe up from bottom gesture was awesome on my Blackberry Z10. But apparently it was confusing to the average moron consumer bcuz they weren't used to not having a home button of some sort.

That's the beauty of Apple's implementation tho. There's a super thin bar that you have to slide up, which I think is more intuitive. You could use All In One Gestures to get the slide up gesture but it accidentally enables all the time.

Get an iPhone X!!! LOL Kidding!!!
Might want to look for Meizu mods, that's where the nice gestures come from
I use Edge Gestures app (with immersive mode of the nav bar). It knows this features, but only on the side edges. I have tried to persuade the developer to the bottom edge, without success up to now. This app has little battery drain and memory usage, and ask only necessary permissions. I love it, prefer to All In One Gestures.
My settings:
Left Edge
Swipe up- Home button
Swipe Down - Google app
Tap - Recent apps
Hold - Scroll to the top
Double tap - VLC
Left - Settings
Right Edge
Swipe up- FB LIte
Swipe Down - Browser
Tap - back
Hold - Gmail
Right - File manager
Double tap - Drive
Very fast and usable.
Since I got rid of the Nav Bar - it was annoying - I use both edges for back (swipe up), home (swipe down), and recents (double tap) with Edge Gestures, and Wave Launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wavelauncher&hl=en) from the bottom to access apps and such. It's very responsive and amazingly customizable. You can change the icons and make it look like Mac OS toolbar (Please don't).

Just use this app called GMD gesture control lite offered by good mood droid developers from play store, here's the link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.goodmooddroid.gesturecontrol
Work flawless for me on my s7edge powered by bat-man rom with low battery consumption , you can make swipe gesture started from any edge of your screen, even from the top or bottom of the screen, you also can create your own gesture. If the app didn't detect the edge part of your screen, just calibrate your display from the setting inside that apps, before it didn't work also for me, after calibrate it will works. But, unfortunately you have to buy the full version if you want to get full features, there is also the free version of this app if you wanna to try first. Only this app I got the gesture function near to the iphone x gesture features
use at your own risk.
Press thank's if it helps.
I just got my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra the other day and there's something pretty frustrating that I'm hoping someone can help me out with. There is a feature that allows you to swipe down on the home screen to pull down the notification panel. This this feature is disabled, or you're on any other screen other than the home-screen, there is only a very very very thin line that represents the notification bar that registers you pressing when wanting to pull the notification bar down. Its even worse when I have my case on. I have to try press and dragging somewhere between 5-7 times before it works.
I guess I'm just wondering if there is a way or setting to expand the area at the top that acknowledges the notification pull-down feature. Currently, so far as I can tell, it measures at about .25cm vertical area that recognizes the drag-down feature. Can we increase to .5 or maybe even .75cm vertical area?
Use Nova Launch, in the settings go to gesture. From there you can do whatever you want.
You can also put another bottonin your Nav bar that pull down the notification on any apps anywhere. In the Good Lock app go to the NavStar. Choose a new configuration or long press on the navbar option of your choice and you can put more button on it. I have 7 and they're all very useful for me.
Hello. So i made the switch to the S10e and i've been running into this issue where if i accidentally hold my phone with my finger just touching the selfie camera (or any part of the status/notification bar at the top of the screen), any and all other touch inputs just get disabled.
Any solutions to this? I assume Android thinks i'm going to pull it down and disables every other touch or something, but is there an option not to do that but still keep the draggable status bar? This also happens in all apps and the home screen/apps etc. no matter the screen.
Activating Show Taps in developer shows that the OS DOES see both my taps, the status bar and anything else, just that the software-side blocks other inputs once that initial status bar touch is seen and still active. It does NOT happen with the back/home/apps bar or generally anywhere else. I have tried making sure Nova launcher isn't doing anything. Tried Accidental touch protection On and Off and a host of other settings. Confirmed this is a status bar issue with hiding it in Samsung Internet and repeating the test.
Tried EdgeTouch with NiceLock but it only really helps for the sides which aren't really my issue.
Rarely this sometimes happens with stuff on screen too in the OS itself and in apps. Usually it's with triggering a function like holding the phone with touching the left hand of the screen and accidentally 'dragging' a menu' into view a few pixels, and then that disables all other input until it's gone. But that's fine since it's very rare. It's more more often than the status/notification bar is my main issue.

Do you use a case? That's what help'd me with accidental screen touches. An "ultra slim" case was all it took for me. Hope you find what works for you.
I am really against cases, as i really want a compact fone, and there are extremely few which get launched with AMOLED nowdays. I'd rather solve this via software.
