Night Clock not woking after latest update - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have note edge n downloaded n installed the latest update thru sprint. After the update my night clock doesnt come on. I have tried turing it on n off.
I do have the Samsung smart case but that didnt matter before.
Turned off the style clock for flip wallet thinking that might help but nothing

Yea, this is a big deal to me. Same issue. I can get it to come on if you lay it down, swipe the edge to show info, once it stops scrolling the night clock will engage, looks like they added weather back in, which is nice. However, once engaged, it's upside down. So I flipped and turned the phone, which caused it to rotate 180 like it's supposed to be, but it wont stay that way. And then once you flipped it and wake the phone, that super dimness of the night clock is carried over to the entire phone and the only fix I have found is reboot.
This is not cool. One of my fav features of this phone is the night clock. Without that... I don't want it.
Another issue since the update, I use he fingerprint scanner to unlock... after a reboot you are forced to use your password, which is fine. But now, I am prompted with that "must use password after reboot" screen every couple unlocks WITHOUT any reboots.
I was already getting annoyed with this phone before the update (screen would lock while typing and general sluggishness at times) and was excited to see the OTA update for Marshmallow come across.... hoping it would fix some things.
That said, I'd rather be in the boat I was with Lollipop than lose my nightclock and be forced to use password for no reason. Ugh.

Oh and it constantly prompts me for "SD Card: For transferring photos and media". Thanks Note Edge... but I KNOW WHAT THE SD CARD IS FOR.

My wife's Sprint Galaxy Note Edge has the same problem where the Night Clock feature seemed to stop working after the Marshmallow update.
However, I figured out a workaround for this. The post-Marshmallow-update Night Clock feature does work IF you use the 24-hour format for your time. You can toggle between 24-hour and 12-hour format in Settings > Date & Time.
I contacted Samsung's Live Chat support to report the issue and the workaround and was told that the information would get passed along to the appropriate department. I'm not sure if anything will get done about this, so keep your fingers crossed.
In the meantime, I will keep checking her phone to see if anything else can make Night Clock work when 12-hour format is in use.

changing the time format to 24hrs does work right away. you do have to touch the edge screen to be able to see the temp. since the regular night clock still only has time and alarm info.

Edge clock ~ galaxy note edge
Yes after the recent Marshmallow update, the Edge Clock on the Galaxy Note edge had stopped working. However, in a recent software update, a few days ago, the night clock has started working ~ as usual in the 12 hour format.

I just found out that the night clock won't work as long as your alarm clock is set. Turn off your alarm clock and the night clock will appear. I had to download a 3rd party alarm clock last night that wouldn't activate the built in alarm clock, and it worked for me.

Than you so much for the tip. Switching to 24 hr time format really works in showing the night clock. For now it's better than nothing. Thanks again.

You seem to be right about this one. I was using the 24 hr time trick but I don't like reading time like that so it was kinda Hassel. I soon as I turned off timely (3rd party clock app) the night clock started working immediately

I have found that using my alarm clock app is causing the night clock not to come on. If I turn off the alarm clock then comes back. This is very irritating as most people who use night clock also use the alarm. I have also spoke with Samsung chat and got the same results. They are sending it to the appropriate department...... I'm not going to hold my breath.......

Sprint rolled out an update (which I got yesterday) and it appears that the Night Clock issue has been fixed ....

Hello all, I received 6.0 update for my note edge few days back but i haven't installed the update as the reviews say that its a bad update & the phone gets a lot of bugs after updating to 6.0 marshmallow. My note edge is N915G model.
Can u plz tell me how is yr note edge working after updating to 6.0?
Has the night clock issue been resolved?
Hows the battery life?
And how many more updates did u receive after the original 6.0 update?
Any other issues u r facing?
Kindly answer all my questions. Really need an honest opinion. Thanks

The only thing that worked for me was to turn the clock off then let the phone screen go to sleep on its own.

Yea, I wasn't too happy with the setup, but... I only found out about the brightness thing after testing it out on a i9000 too. Tried a more automated approach, but doesn't produce the same results as regular presses. I'll upgrade the setup process when I find a better solution.
Thanks for the logs, I tried reproducing the problem, but didn't get a force close, but I think I might know what the problem might be.
Will get to work on that.
lol the font looks really really cute.
I'm still not able to reproduce the forceclose, but thanks to the logs, I believe I fixed the problem. One of them was leftover code I missed removing which strangely wasn't causing me any problems.
The other... should be fixed.
You'll see an update soon.

Had to use No Lock app, to disable normal lock screen, then set the VOID, work great!
Nice work there....but i have one problem tough....during calls the phone gets locked itself and i have to unlock it again to hang up and stuff
And could you add a "disable stock lockscreen" feature?? It would be highly appreciated

I'm currently fixing up the call lock right now.
There wasn't a disable stock lockscreen feature because it was supposed to disable the stock lockscreen automatically. However, that only seems to be working on the phones I'm testing on and strangely, the phones I can test on won't show the stock lockscreen, but some others does.
I'll be doing some more work into this part.
Update
New update out. Fixed up the calling. Now, the incoming call and incall screens won't be locked up. After call, it will lock back up. This works if you press the power button to turn off too.
New Feature. Find it in experimental setting. New feature affects the screen time out. Now, if you want, the Screen Timeout will lock with Void Lock instead of turning off the screen. Good feature for those like me who uses the WakeLock and avoids using the power button.
I forgot to disable my other lock screen and now seem to be locked out of my phone. Evo 4g with decks rom. any suggestions?
Great dev! can't wait for it to work completely on ICS
Couple of issues
evo 3d: when going to uninstall the uninstall screen flashes like crazy, buttons are highlighted (force stop, clear data, move to sd, uninstall) and blinking, takes several taps before you can get it uninstalled.
evo 4g: also when uninstalling it flashes, sometimes you have to clear data, move to SD card, then uninstall
it's one of the oddest things I've ever seen... and no, I'm not the one who left the nasty market comments.

Wow! that's also one of the oddest things I've heard about.
But, I can't imagine why it would happen. None of my code goes beyond the lockscreen and shouldn't affect the uninstalling at all. I just did an uninstall on my phone, tablet, and old phones to see if I get the same issue, but it was able to be uninstalled properly.
The only uninstall issue I know of is that the app is granted Device Admin status after the first time you press the Void Lock app, but that will only give you an Uninstall is not Successful message instead of the issues you are having.
Also odd that it happened to both of your phones.
I can't seem to think of why that uninstalling problem happened and I'm 100% positive that none of the code for Void Lock will affect the uninstalling. But if all that flashing and etc happens only when you are uninstalling Void Lock then Void Lock should definitely be the culprit. Its so strange...
Hmm, could it be related to your rom?
I also never had to clear data or move to SD card to uninstall it. Just disable device admin in the phone's Security Settings and then uninstall it and it'll work properly.
I'm not too worried about the market comments. I guess I expect it because of all the incompatibility issues I have not been able to predict when I released it. Yet, it does work for a lot of phones so I wouldn't even know which phones to restrict. All the problems seems to be coming from manufacturers making changes to the default lockscreen. Still working on fixing all of that right now.
I am a bit upset at those nasty market comments that rates low because of not being able to uninstall. I did give instructions in the market description. I guess I'll need add a new tab in the Settings to describe how to uninstall.
nice lockscreen.

Korean Firmware update November 20 2015

Well Korea got another firmware update this morning. The update never gave details but here is what I've found so far:
In the settings under Device, there is now an "Auto open apps" option. Basically when you scroll through your apps list, whatever app you stop on will automatically open.
Also in the settings under "connections" there's an alert option now to be notified via vibration when disconnected from your phone.
Under the display setting there's now a screen timeout option. 15 secs, 30 secs, 1 min, or 5 minutes.
Also some bloatware was added. Apps added were a world clock, starbucks, a korean navigation app, and the flipboard news briefing app. There's also a few watchfaces added, nothing new, same ones shown at the initial unveiling. All of them can be uninstalled thankfully.
There's a notification indicator option now also in display. It will make a little orange circle appear on your watchface until you've viewed the notification. Only works if you don't have notifications set to automatically turn on your screen in the Gear Android app.
When reading the text of a notification, it will make the font larger if you double tap the screen.
Cosmetic differences:
now says "add widget" under the + symbol when you scroll all the way right.
On a notification, when you swipe up to dismiss, it now shows a trash can.
For a notification reply, the emoji symbol has been replaced with a more traditional circle happy face.
When you scroll right on the watchfaces menu there's an option to "Add template" now. It then lets you choose from the watchfaces that can be stylized and make a new face from them.

I noticed small cosmetic changes inside the S-health app, but nothing else beyond that. I've found nothing related to sleep monitoring.
Also checked yesterday to see if a reminder can be set using S-Voice, and that is also still broken.
I can't believe they didn't map the top button to toggle most recent app... it's so annoying having to go back to the app screen to get to your music app while running... the button is basically wasted without a double click or long press option.
I glad they brought back the vibrate when disconnected function.

In SHealth I'm able to swipe/twist to the right and get to the music controller, which then returns to SHealth when I press the back button.
Coming from Pebble I expected apps to be persistent and not just to have the watch exit home to the watchface everytime the display times out. It's really nice to have a persistent app for a music player. I could adjust the track or volume without looking at my wrist. And it's also greatly needed for the stopwatch. A settings option for persistent apps would be great.
My Gear app updated this morning, I see no change in the watch. The app on the phone has a whole new layout, but nothing has changed on the watch. Still shows the same J3 software version. I rebooted the watch and nothing. Do I have to reboot my phone? I hate to try this as it always breaks my weather app and I have to totally uninstall all gear apps on the phone and factory reset the watch to get it working again.

So I do not understand what the problem is or the new options mean???

I agree there should be a long press top button feature. The way I deal with this problem is I set long press home to the music player. Then to access apps you press home then press home again.

My Gear Fit, which isn't actually Tizen, but resembles it a bit, has an option for what you want to do after timeout - return to watch face, or remain on last app. Very handy, and Samsung could certainly add this option, since they already know how it works.

Mod Edit
Thanks for your time and bye for now.
I tried it and had even more battery drain than I already do with Android System. Android System was #1, System UI was #2. I usually have 3-5 hours of screen time (with a charge half way through the day), so there's no reason anything should be above Screen in the battery usage list.

Not to mentioned the very strange multitasking menu that makes the experience intolerable. I'm hoping they just give people the stock Android notification shade independent of the app.

Oh yes, there is plenty of UI slowdown and almost a 1% per minute battery drain, in addition to the side-effect of turning my phone into a fine pocket warmer.
The app itself is a good alternative. But there are some serious issues that may be addressed by fixing memory leaks and clearing some cache data. But I am un-rooted and plan on staying that way for a bit

Why with this enabled, when I press power button off then back on, screen doesn't lock. Does it only engage after x amount of time? I just have default set.

Please WRITE them about the performance and battery issues. I already did. They listen to our feedback. Without those issues I'd use Good Lock as default.

If you have it set to lock immediately through your lockscreen settings, not through GoodLock (GL does not have any options for this that I have seen) it should lock as soon as the screen is turned off. By default, mine was set up for 5 minutes (I think) but I keep mine set to 1 minute of inactivity.
Awesome that was the settings I was looking for.
How do u ADD apps to the apptray in recent screen? I see edit and I can remove but how do u ADD your favorites?

Quick Update for folks that are having the massive Battery Drain issue:
I took some advice from another thread that suggested actually creating a routine for Everywhere vs just using the Default profile. Apparently there is something wonky in the Default Routine that causes it to attempt to pinpoint your location repeatedly. (wakelock) This in turn make the GPS and location service run constantly. After creating a Routine and basically setting it up with EVERYWHERE as the location, I have had some different results.
1. The phone is still running warm, definitely not hot as before. I could heat my coffee with it.
2. The battery drain is definitely still there, but not as severe.
I have been sending feedback over the past few days. We will see if Sammy will make any changes in the future.
I am also curious to see other finding from other users.

No. But if you are, I would blame your problems on something you've done with your rooted phone, not Goodlock. The app works fine for almost everyone. It's your experience that's abnormal, not mine.

Alarm not working: any idea?

Hi everybody. I'm having a very annoying problem with my Gear S3 Fronteer: the alarm is not working.
Generally I set the alarm with vibration only. Randomly (but lately more often) the alarm starts just with the first vibration and than it stops. It seems to happen more often when I'm in bed and the face of the watch is in contact with bed/sheets. I tried to reset several times with no results. I also tried with different configurations: airplane mode active/not active, do not disturbe active/not active but nothing changes.
Any idea? I'm very disappointed: a smartwatch without the alarm function working properly is not so smart.....
Thanks
Alex
Yes, lots of people are suffering this issue, included me. I have tried to report it to Samsung, but the customer service is awful (they recommend to reset the device, and if it doesnt work, send it to repair...).
There are some theories: if the alarm app is open in background, it works, or it depends on the watchface (with original from Samsung seems to work all the time), with battery saver during night also seems to work,...
Enviado desde mi SM-G930F mediante Tapatalk
I have the same problem, it flash the light one time and stops, no sound at all.
When I put another alarm to try it works perfectly... I've tried waking up 1 minute before the alarm, no obstacles in watch and the behaviour is the same. :crying:
I has been working fine until last week, strange thing. The only thing I changed was I installed a custom rom and the Samsung Gear apk from:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...-samsung-gear-app-android-n-samsung-t3547035/
Yea same here alarm won't work unless it's running in the background. Before I go to sleep I make sure that alarm app is running to make sure it will work 100% of the time. Yea samsung really need to fix this problem

Wrong person didn't say another alarm
You can put more than 1 alarm, for example:
7:30
7:31
7:32
7:33
And see if one of them works.

Are you using a watch face that came pre-installed? A lot of the watch faces that you can load are missing a couple of features that keep the watch from updating until you wake the watch. It's in the programming, because I discovered it on a couple of watch faces I built myself. I don't know what the alarm depends on but if it's the watch face, then it could be froze until you wake the watch. I may be off in left field so I'm just throwing this out there.

Yesterday morning, the alarm didnt worked again. When I woke up (late), I checked the alarm settings and everything was ok, the alarm was on at the same time like everyday. But it didnt went off at the alarm hour.
During all the day, I noticed the battery draining faster than usual. In 24h the level was 22%, when usually it is more than 50%. After checking the battery stats, it shows Alarm app drained a lot! 59%

A workaround that works for me is adding two alarms with one minute difference.
for example
6:44
6:45
first one fails but second one works, it's not a perfect solution but...
Guys, it's for sure caused by watchface you are using, as @Tel864 told before. E.g., I used SportSP70, it's in the top-list (at least in my country), and every alarm was nothing more but a one quick buzz, and that's it. Switched to Golfzon Watch Face - everything works brilliant, even when Alarm app isn't running in the background. With stock watchfaces everything is working fine as well.
Give it a try.
I just came here to post about my own alarm issue and was concerned to see there's already a thread about this issue. I've had my S3 Frontier since December 15th and since I got it I have an alarm set to wake me at 8:00am Mon - Friday. The watch is always sitting in the charger unit on my bedside table when the alarm goes off. It's worked flawalessly until 2 days ago when I woke up, and clicked on the button to display the time, and saw it was 8:03 and the alarm had not gone off. I picked up the watch off the charger and suddenly the watch alarm went once and then stopped. I see the comments about certain watch faces can mess up the alarm operation, but I've been using the same "Minimal" watch face for many weeks now and this is only time the alarm has failed. It's a bit unsettling though as I don't feel I can trust the alrm to go off anymore
It seems they have fixed it in latest update of the firmware.
My Gear S3 currently shows it's running Tizen version 2.3.2.1 and Software version: R760XXU1APK6. On checking for Gear updates via my phone it says I have the latest version, and yet that's same versions as it had when I bought it in December. So what is the latest version/s and any idea when I will receive these here in Spain?

Hello all. First off, awesome watch! Mine is also Tizen version 2.3.2.1 and my software version is R760XXU1APK7 purchased in New York on Feb 18, (all stock, no custom ROM except for a custom watch face called gk58_schwarz). I haven't experienced this issue because I don't exactly use the alarm initiated on the Gear S3. I set my alarms using my Galaxy Note 2 (yes, my beloved workhorse of a phone, the Note 2 running DN4) and it sounds both on my Note 2 and my Gear S3. I can cancel or snooze using my Gear S3 and both devices will turn off.
Just for kicks, I set a vibrating alarm 1 minute from now on my Gear S3. It worked. I set it again 3 minutes from now on the Digital Beep sound. It worked. I let it go on for about 10 seconds until I hit the X.
Hello all,
mine is Tizen version 2.3.2.1 and my software version is R760XXU1APK6,
the Alarm-App don't work when the Watch is in sleeping mode (AOD=on, Power Saving Mode=off, Do not disturb mode=off). In this mode the display ist completely black. Thats why the Alarm work's when you test it on day.

System UI Tuner - Apply System UI Tuner settings on any Android device.

I just received the Nougat update and realized that the big Samsung in the sky disabled System UI Tuner. So when faced with defeat I decided to spin up an Android emulator and using the some nifty ADB commands reverse engineer all the settings inside the System UI Tuner menu. I then confirmed you could just apply the same settings and they would work and then created an easy to use application to apply them.

To get started you will first want to enabled [Developer Options]:
Go into [Settings]
Tap on [About device]
Repeatedly tap on the [Build Number] until a toast notification comes up stating you have enabled developer options.
Go back
Next you will want to go into [Developer Options] and enable [USB Debugging]:
Go into [Developer Options]
Scroll down and tap on [USB Debugging]
Finally plug in your device to your computer accept any prompts that appear on your phone and run the application. The application will take a few seconds to load as it finds your phone, but after that you will be able to select the settings you want and see them instantly apply to your phone. Features I've noticed that do no work on the Galaxy S7 are: Battery Percentage in the icon, and Do Not Disturb features.

Power Notification Controls on the Galaxy S7
No alarm icon showing and long time.
This is a great app - warning for S7 users, though - when I tried to disable the alarm icon, the phone kept crashing system UI. I fixed it by relaunching the app and turning the alarm icon back on. So far, that's the only thing I've seen that doesn't work. I have time and battery icon turned off and so far the phone has rebooted a few times without any issues - it doesn't crash system UI and remembers my settings.
Nice work! Great way to hide time/battery without root.

That is strange. That is the one thing I have disabled and it's working for me on my S7 (SM-G930T). I did do a factory reset after getting the update so that may be the reason why it's working on my phone.

I don't get errors disabling any icons, however, when I'm trying to enable the battery percentage in icon and nothing happens. Do you know any way to do this? Hiding icons is pretty nice without root. Good job.

That is correct. I did not see any changes with battery percentage, or with the Do Not Disturb features. (Should have probably included that in the original post.) I left them in the app, because maybe they will work on other phones.

I used it to remove the annoying Alarm Icon. I always have an alarm so having a icon for it seems a little redundant. Thank you for this!

Great idea! After digging through the android source code on how the icon_blacklist setting works. Then digging through a DeOdexed Marshmallow rom (Thanks @muniz_ri [thread=3415952]thread[/URL]) and de-compiling a few APK's, I was able to find the key Samsung uses on the NFC icon. (For anyone interested it's "nfc_on") A link to the new version has been updated in the original post.

Absolute legend works a treat on my S7 !!!!
Would it be possible to remove the carrier name from the status bar with this app?
I've tried using this and it's Power Notification Control setting is very buggy on my S7. It works perfectly fine on my wife's. This lead me to believe that maybe it was an internal thing going on with mine because I was a beta tester for samsung and she wasn't, but we're both on 7.0, so I flashed stock 7.0 with odin to have a clean system and see if that was the problem, but I'm still having the same issue.
(It changes the ui, adds the option but when I go to activate it, I can not push the star to activate the bar and change the setting.
This mod has improved my quality of life. HAHA!

I am happy to find this app. Hate that alarm and bluetooth icon always being there. Seems to be working great on my S7 edge. Is there a way to remove the AM/PM in the clock? I know when its morning or night.
Love the app any chance to remove this garbage it added after root?

I would love this as well. I know if it's am or pm. I was a beta tester for 3 months and I repeatedly asked samsung to remove it. Worthless and takes up space.
I have tried using this app on my Galaxy s6 but it does not work. I do know however that the icon_blacklist adb commands do in fact work (as I have used them to hide my wifi and cellular icons in the status bar), so if this program is based on icon_blacklist, then it should. I researched androidlib.dll and made sure I have .NET framwork 3.5 or higher installed and enabled, and I do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, it's a Samsung Galaxy S6 920v, MM 6.0.1. Not sure if this will work only on Nougat or not.

Incredible app.
Is there any way to activate the "Dark Theme" in the SYS UI Tuner? Especially useful for us S7 AMOLED users.
Hi,
This is a great program! I'm just curious, will this work with other phones? We are experimenting with the same thing over on the LG V20 forums but only with the adb commands themselves, no front-end app or anything like that. So is it possible that this would work?
If not, would you mind sharing the adb command for enabling Power notification controls? That's the feature I want the most but after some quick Googling I can't find out how to do that.
Thanks!
EDIT: Whoops, I didn't see on GitHub that it says it will work on any Android device. I tested it out on the devices in my signature (LG V20 US Unlocked & LG G Pad III 8.0 Wi-Fi if you're on mobile and can't see my signature). The "Power notification controls" feature that I was mostly after doesn't work. I have the same problem as these guys:

Any ideas? I messed around with a few of the "Status Bar" icon settings and those seem to work.
EDIT 2: I figured out how to get Power notification controls working (kinda)! It's still a little wonky and sometimes it locks up, crashes, or just resets though. blankfaced and Patybello, let me know if this works for you. What you have to do is get a notification from the app you want to change into your notification shade. Then slowly pull it left or right just a little bit until the cog icon appears, and click on it. From there if you tap the star icon with the A in it you can set the app's notification priority level (some levels on certain apps cause the notification window to reset/crash when you select them though , so YMMV)! Just make sure you hit "Done" afterwards. Sometimes you can then go into Settings > Notification > Apps to change it from there but a lot of times it just completely freezes up or resets itself, so I would recommend not trying to make any changes in there. I can't reboot my phone right now but I did reboot my tablet and it appears that the priority levels stuck, so hopefully this lasts!
