[HELP] Alcatel OneTouch Elevate - General Questions and Answers

Okay so I have searched high and low for information on how to flash this B**ch I can't find anyone who has done so successfully.
I used to have the (3 different) LG Realm it was literally one click root, didnt have to flash it, just Towel Root and go, I had the LG Tribute 2 which I ended up bricking.
This is my second OneTouch Elevate first one I dropped and ruined the left side of the touch screen.
I AM A NOOB WHEN IT COMES TO PHONES, PSP, PS3, X360 all jailbroken simple s**t, all I want is access to Xposed and all the bountiful pleasures that comes with, I have spent over 45$ on the RooT related apps (link2sd BusyBox etc) Enough Ranting
Phone: Alcatel OneTouch Elevate 5017b
Root: Yes Kiingroot (will change to su if needed)
I need help with
1: Getting into BootLoader
2: Information on successfully flashing this phone either CWM or TWRP
3: NOT BRICKING DEVICE IN PROCESS
I will happily pay someone for helping me with this via PayPal..
Thanks -Keith

Were you able to root the phone with kingoroot? I just want to root my phone and be able to use it for tethering using an app like 'wifi tether'.

Alcatel One Touch Fierce 2 7040n Root/Bootloader/Recovery

So my wife purchased the One Touch Fierce 2 after her Fierce 1 soft bricked (there wasn't ANY support out there for a stock firmware or update.zip). This is a nice device: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Alcatel-OneTouch-Fierce-2_id8868
Can we come up with an official root process? I haven't tried the usual Framaroot or Towelroot because there isn't anything official to fall back on like an update.zip or something from Alcatel.
A method for rooting, bootloader unlock, and custom recovery would be awesome for this device.
Any suggestions??
I'm willing to donate a test phone and money to a developer that wants to jump in on this. I'm not good enough to form an exploit
Just keeping your post alive I also have this phone would love to get cyanogen on this
I also would like cyanogen on this device just bought myself
Really excited about this device when lanched just feels a little laggy but if we get a custom kernel we could all be gravy and also use find a way to use SD card as internel memory.

Titanium backup will push all apps to SD with no problem
Maybe another root exploit will surface and coincidentally work for this device. Hopefully. Devs never intentionally show love to Alcatel devices ??
just a lil bump again
Maybe this should be in General? ???

So today i got my 32gb sd card I ordered on amazon amd was looking at ways to move most apps to sd with no root and found a way. Google search: app to sd no root and the guide is by instructables. I now have about 560mb free on my internal storage.

Find any way to root this device? or i do still wait
Anyone?
Successful Root
download Kingo Root APK from kingroot(d0t)net/root I downloaded AnTuTu Benchmark App from the Google Play Store, pressed "TEST", let it run until 10% and then pressed the home button to put it in the background and opened Kingo Root and it lagged quite a bit until about 70%; rebooted and was rooted! If it fails, go to Kingo Root App Info and clear the cache/data and try again!

[Q] Rooting an Alcatel One Touch POP D3

Hi everyone.
This is my first post, as I came here looking for help.
So, my wise mother decided to purchase an Alcatel One Touch POP D3 (4035X) (Android 4.4 KitKat), because it was cheap. The only problem is, it was cheap for a reason, it's slow as hell.
Okay, we can fix that by rooting the bloody thing and speeding it up a bit, but there's no root support. The programs I used earlier to root my devices support Alcatels C3, C5, and so on, but there's nothing for D3.
So, can you help me guys?
I would really like to root it, there's a lot of useless crap on it.

You can root your device using by checking out my guide on rooting this phone here and parsing package error either means that the app or apk is not compatible with your device or there's an error like it's corrupted or something. Speed problem can be fixed using setcpu. look for it on the play store
is there a way to root it now? are above mentioned method work?

Can someone lead me to a tutorial on how to install the custom recovery on the Alcatel One touch pop D3 on a windows 10 machine? Also can you link me to some cool roms for the device as well?
Using Linux machine to Root the POP D3
Hi, I'm following this guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/discussion-t3002987 on how to flash TWRP on my Alcatel Onetouch Pop D3. I would like to test the recovery image file before I flash it.
I'm using a linux machine to run the Fastboot and ADB commands. The phone is running stock ROM and not rooted. First I use adb reboot-bootloader to get into fastboot mode. But once in fastboot mode, neither sudo fastboot boot twrprecovery.img or sudo fastboot oem device-info do anything. The program just hangs. Why is the program hanging? Do I need to first unlock my bootloader? How would I unlock it? Thanks
I managed to root my Alcatel 4037R only after performing a factory reset and immediately installing Kingroot, without going through the setup and adding a Google account

[Resolved] Alcatel A460G Rooting Trouble - a lost cause.

I've totally given up on this & explain in my last post, below.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To start with I wish to say a few things to be as clear as possible:
I have been visiting here for a couple of years already, but never registered because frankly - I was intimidated. I am not a dev, or a coder - I am merely a guy who enjoys tinkering a bit - and I have discovered how much fun cheap Android devices can be.
Lately a chain store has an Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar A460G (TCL) from tracfone.
It has a nice 4" screen, Android 4.4.2 and better specs than my LG L34C - so I got it.
Searched extensively and the closest info I found was here at this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/andr...icial-t3193624
It seemed to root with Kingo Root - but only temporarily and its Superuser doesn't work very well at all.
Even tried the method here - but it starts & never completes:
http://androidxda.com/replace-kinguser-with-supersu
I really want to root this phone and would be happy even if I must use the app to re-install V4.3 from here:
http://alcatelonetouch.com/global-en...0126103150.rar
Also, there is a great bit of info posted here with a de-bloated stock ROM & recovery - but how can I flash it if it will not fully root and/or SU does not work ??
It seems most likely this phone has its bootloader locked by tracfone, and that maybe it is what stops it from rooting - but I do not know enough to be sure.
Any pointers to good help will be hugely appreciated.
Thanks.
Also...
I tried Kingroot on this Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar (A460G, TCL, mt6582) running 4.4.2 .
It took a few tries (as suggested) and seemed to do...something - but not enough.
I very much hope some tool or something comes along soon that will allow full access to the file system on this phone as it really seems to be a very nice device.
Best Wishes to All.

Post what you can here as working via PM or email does not help anyone else facing the same issues.
Please Post. screenshots (or links to images), logs (from mdrt and spflashtool)(Just add .txt to the end if they do not have it) , The Android mt6582 scatter.txt that mdrt produced. :good:
Can you also please clarify your exact model as there seems to be different versions
Mediatek MT6572M (3G model)
Qualcomm MSM8909 (4G model)
This likely goes against the spirit of this place, but:
After quite literally wasting days trying to get past all the restrictions on this phone I've given up.
There are 2 major things which seem apparent to me from this experience=>
1 - Tracfone has made it impossible to root this phone - or at least so difficult as not to be worth it;
2- Kitkat is just plain nasty because of all the excessive restrictions it has.
End result here is that I have managed to get most everything I desired in another phone instead.
It is an Alcatel C1 AT&T Gophone.
It rooted in a minute, takes my CC sim card and instantly connects to my home Wifi.
After all this I've listed the A460G for sale, cheaply and if it does not sell that is OK as its charger & battery are the same as my new phone's and it can be used as an outside battery charger if/when I swap out batteries.
Conclusions:
- Avoid Tracfone...they and their products are just evil;
- Avoid Kitkat whenever possible or be prepared to fight it for any decent use a'tall.
Thanks for taking the time to read my query.
Hi,
Also got a Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar A460G that I would like to root. I DL CPU-X and CPU-Z and both listed the Soc as a dual core 1.3GHz Mediatek MT6582.
Searching using "Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar A460G" this was the only post I found.
While I have never Rooted any Android phone am willing to spend some time searching for other rooting apps and hope to be successful with some guidance from more experienced members.
Recently I have changed my search to "root MT6582" and have found a few posts that claim to be able to root any listed MediaTek hardware.

I think I tried that one, but cannot be 100% certain as my list got messed up at one point.
Is yours also a tracfone ??
Seems to me that most of my problems were because of how tracfone locked it down so badly.
I will be very curious to see what you post back about your device and your success; please do tell how it goes ??
Addendum=>
This "Graphical Auto Root tool" is something that instantly 'updates' then morphs into root genius, which did not work for my phone at all.
Thanks.
Hi vtsnaab,
Yes mine is a TracFone.
Searched using "Alcatel One Touch Pixi Pulsar" and all I found was TracFone.
"Seems to me that most of my problems were because of how tracfone locked it down so badly" "After quite literally wasting days trying to get past all the restrictions on this phone I've given up." "I will be very curious to see what you post back about your device and your success; please do tell how it goes ??" As previously mentioned, I have never done this so will keep searching until find a post that has been successful.
Wonder if this same phone is sold under different brand names or networks?
Since this is a Chinese Soc am guessing if anyone has been able to Root it the post will be in Chinese. Since I am not fluent, hope some others are!
Regards
Ken
IMO, rooting is not really optional; most pre-paid devices I've ever seen or used are too crapped up as sold & therefore rather useless unless they can be de-crapified after successful rooting.
With a tool that actually works fully - it is usually quite simple from those I have done myself.
The Chinese ones I've seen & tried usually pretty obvious once opened; they connect visibly, and it has been obvious, like having a big button to click on, then wait for success or failure.
A couple of rooting tools have recently updated, but right now I am not eager to waste any more time fooling around with the very pretty glorified battery charger called 'A460G'.
Maybe if it sits & gathers dust for a time here someone will have an ah-hah moment with one & it will get resurrected, else - no biggie for me for it to sit around.
Best Wishes KenithO in your quest.
Please post back here with what you may learn ??
Thanks.

A quick search led me to this thread here and kingroot seems to work but only temporarily. I'm guessing temporarily would mean after a reboot, the root is gone. Root the phone and make a backup of recovery.img and boot.img (kernel) with the Flashify app.
Common ways of rooting if one-click methods don't work are flashing a custom recovery and then flashing SuperSU. You will need to generate a scatter file for your device then make a backup with SmartPhoneFlashTool (SPFT).

Generally speaking as a non-dev, this site has become less & less useful as time has passed - and that 'evil' poster is helping nobody - just making board spam.
This used to be THE place to find the best info when one wanted to gain root access.
Since the makers have come up with ever worse & worse ways to lock down their krapware there is less & less hope to gain root access anymore, basically, to sum it all up as an over-simplified generality:
If Kingo or Kingroot will not work on most any post-Kitkat device, then that's that - and even if one of those DOES work, there's a strong likelihood of being stuck with their krapware because a great deal of the time the only 'cure' for it is SuperSU-Me, and it fails quite often.
But - not to worry...
Once there are landfills with huge piles of orphaned/broken devices I'm sure someone will come up with clever ways to make them into Big Macs or something else equally useful & toxic !!
For me - the Android journey has mostly turned into keeping a list of what is useless and/or a waste of time; Alcatel & Tracfone are VERY high up that list of things & companies to avoid.
As of today's date (11-24-16) I was able to fully root my Alcatel One Touch Pixi (A460G) TracFone, running 4.4.2 KitKat, in about 5 minutes using the latest version of KingoRoot (v1.4.8.2793) with USB Debugging (PC->Phone) after two tries. Everything seems to be working: SD read/write, BusyBox, etc. The only thing I wish I could figure out now is how to replace KingoRoot's featureless default SU app with SuperSU.
If KingoRoot doesn't succeed the first time, keep trying. The second, third or fourth try usually gets it on the more difficult devices. Hope this helps someone in the future.
EDIT: PLEASE DISREGARD. See my followup post below.

I regretfully recant my earlier statement above and sincerely apologize if I mistakenly offered any others false hope. I was fooled into believing my A460G was rooted because of the strange way it mounts internal & external storage. It seems that the A460G views the external SD card as internal storage & the internal storage as an external card which allows full read/write access to the external SD card out of the box.
Currently, I am still looking for a way to root this phone. AlcatelROOT.com has nothing whatsoever on the Pixi Pulsar (A460G), neither does Google or Yahoo it seems. I am open to suggestions.
EDIT: I also request that the forum mods remove the "[RESOLVED]" tag in the subject line of this thread as the A460G has not, thus far, been successfully rooted that any of us are aware of. Thanks.
In theory, if we had a custom recovery, we could just flash recovery and install supersu. Right?

sorry bud but you would still need to unlock the bootloader somehow before flashing a recovery which would mean you need to root it first or find an exploit
This phone can be rooted by first unlocking the bootloader as I did con a zte prestige phone locked to sprint/boost thanks to "farkin genius" Mr. Hroark13, the solución, it's on these forums. Afaik, it's an ADB command done while connecting phone to pc and it should work. Haven't tried it yet. Look up
"zte prestige temp root achieved xda".
It could be your ticket to rooting this bastard. Shame con you Alcatel and tracfone + bigbrother.
"This was found by me (Hroark13),I can not believe it was this easy
To turn off nand / system write protection on the ZTE ZMAX and maybe other phones
run this command in adb shell or terminal
reboot disemmcwp
to re-enable write protection issue this command
reboot emmcwpenab
I AM A FARKING GENIUS"
Massive credit goes to Mr. Hroark13
So basically use this command and then use ur favorite way to root and same as usual. Bada-boom Bada-bing permanent root. Restarted 10 times and never lost root.
Fu evilmaiden for being selfish

Hi, \How the heck do you root a Zte avid plus Z828?

How do you root a z828 zte avid plus phone metro pcs?????
It's different than the Avid 4G. You can still get into the FTM, but I'm guessing either the script or the security is different. Mine is on Android 5.1.1 MetroPCS and I've been searching everywhere to no avail. Some help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. :cyclops:
Also desperately looking for a way to root the device. I bought it as a cheap replacement when my last phone was broken, and so far I've enjoyed the phone. This is one major pitfall, though. Ive tried plenty of rooting apps and methods, and I'm willing to test and play with more. Any help is greatly appreciated and I'm offering any assistance I can. Let's find a way to crack this thing.
hi you guys i bought the avid plus from somebody yesterday for $50 and it turned out that the phone is messed up bad it wont boot and when it does it just turns off and its hard to get to go back on, is there anyway you guys can send me a copy of a backup of your phone system files, ive been looking everywhere online for countless hours for any kind of stock file and theres none at all so please i beg you send me a link or email me a few of the main required files please my email is [email protected] thank you so much for helping

ZTE Open allows you to reinstall and recover all your system files, but you need a PC and the software/directions. Google "ZTE open" z828 and you should be able to find the info you need. :cyclops:
Has anyone found a root that works on zte avid plus z828 yet?

not yet......kingroot has a request form when you download it on your phone. As of now, there is about 5000 requests and was last seen at queue list 342 and it increase every day. my guesstimate is maybe by the end of July there will be a root program
End of July for sneaky Chinese info-thief rooting... Should be at about Android 9.2 by then. Never again owning a ZTE unless is a time machine and/ or comes with a Gremlin.

I don't know how successful you can be but if you go to kingoroot.com and try you may have a chance.
Here is what I did, first I downloaded the program for the pc, then attempted to root the device. When it failed, I saved the log and emailed them. After about a week I tried again. By this time I was fooling around with the cable, restarting phone, unplugging the cable and constantly restarted the kingoroot app, then finally after an hour of doing this the root worked!!!
Give it a shot, it may be worth it!!!
I have the same problem too, the reason why many rooting apps failed because the Z828 is not yet rootable. But don't worry, it will be in the future.. just don't know when.
Root
Root successful with kingoroot.
Phone messing up and root gone upon reboot.

Can't use it for anything.
I got boot up and running!
Step 1: DOWNLOAD
ADB Drivers - http://adbdriver.com/
ADB Shell (guide and download) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118
kingo root - https://www.kingoapp.com/android-root/download.htm
Step 2: Command Prompt with ADB
run the CMD with admistrator privileges and use the following commands -
adb devices
[hit enter]
adb reboot disemmcwp
[Your device will now reboot with some extra write permissions]
install and run KINGO ROOT! (Yes, it's kingO root, not King) on your pc.
SHAABAAMMMM!!!!
Now we need a custom recovery for it!
PS: o/! Dont try link2sd , because it #$&*#&(*@^*$ your apks, and you can't find it in the 2nd partition.
it says that the device is offline what do i do?
It does work as stated above. Nice job, I've been trying to do this for a while now. I didnt know there was a command to make the phone reboot with more permissions. Very nice!
Seems to not work for me. I get it to connect and everything, but KingoRoot fails to keep going or it finishes at 100% and tells me that it failed to install Root.
Nevermind, I had to reboot my PC.
I'm not sure this is a true root. And how do I remove kingosu and replace with SuperSU? Super sume did not work as kingosu refused to give it a permission.
Yeah its a false root. Had to wipe and factory reset.
okay. upon third try it rooted! and even root explore r/w worked!
however i deleted the metro apps and tried to install supersu because i hear nasty comms going on between kingouser and chinra.
well i'm bricked now. lol.
wont boot past powered by android splash. possibly because i deleted the MYMETRO folder in system/app.
zte and metro dont provide the update.zip so i cant recover.
any ideas? and dont tell me go to metro because they wont help.
Same problem now bricked can only open recovery
