I had set my screen lock as pin and fingerprint.
I want to set it as none. But the option is greyed out.
So can someone help me with this issue?

If I'm not mistaken, you have to remove fingerprint first then you can set lock to none.

Can you check in your phone if you are able to set the screen lock to none?

You have to delete also all the fingerprints you have stored in the phone.

Hey everyone,
Fix for 2.2 phones has been uploaded to the Market
Update (11-16-2010}
Android 2.2 fix coming tonight or tomorrow
This is my first app and I built it because at the time there was nothing like it. Now there are a few others out there but I've tried to add as many features as possible. I have a lot of other upcoming features just wanted to get it out there.
***You must have root access***
Features:
Reboot, Fast Reboot, Reboot recovery, Reboot fastboot/download, Power off
FAST REBOOT is here...2.5x faster than a normal reboot.
Schedule a nightly reboot
-Notification in status bar with next reboot date and time
-Silent mode to keep your phone silent during the scheduled reboot
-SilentModeOff - Remove silent mode after reboot
Long press the search hardware button on our phone to select from a list of reboot options(Reboot, Reboot recovery, Reboot fastboot/download, Power off)
There is a 4x1 widget with all options plus a configuration button.
-3 different widget backgrounds, 5 different colors for the icons
You can add shortcuts for individual reboot types or there is one for a selected (will show a dialog of all reboot options)
I'd appreciate any feedback you all have. You can use the QR code below or search for Reboot Manager / Widget on the market.

That fast boot option will be coming in the next release. The current fast boot option will take you to Android Fastboot mode. I will be adding an option for "Hot Reboot" which will reboot in half the time of a normal reboot.

I know see what you mean. The reboot, power off, and hot reboot (coming soon) should all work fine. Recovery and fastboot/download mode may be a different story. I'm not sure how those work but let me know how it goes with testing.

Sometimes on the bus, I like to turn on wireless tether and ask the person next to me if they would like to access my personal hotspot.
I am wating for this hot/fast/quick-boot option. I am less concerned with the name of it, as long as it works like Cody describes.

I'm in the final stages of testing as we speak. I'll keep this post updated with the progress (I hope to have it published sometime tonight or tomorrow). I'm also thinking about making the icons more "factory" looking, but that will be in the next release if I choose to change them. Might also make the icon changes a option.
Also working on some bugs associated with HTC Sense roms.

It should work. I'm in the process of changing the way I do the reboots which will make the app a lot more flexible. I'm finding phones have differences that make it hard to work for all. I'll have an update tomorrow with the redesign.
You will hold down the search button to bring up a reboot menu. Does the evo have a search button?
Thanks,
Cody

not exactly. on the evo there IS a button on the bottom of the phone of a magnifying glass, that is a search button. but when hit, pulls up the search screen, with search bar.when you click the icon to the left of the bar you get a list of what to search. Now, i just noticed that when LONG pushed, DOES give me the option of using your app. but no matter what i choose, causes a force close. I AM Rooted.
redbeard46 said:

By search button I'm referring to the hardware search button. On the EVO it would be the button below the screen on the very right of the phone (the button to the right of back). If you long press that you will be presented with an option to select reboot manager or the default long press action. Select Reboot Manager and click use this as the default. The next time you long press the hardware button you will get a list to choose from (Reboot, Fast Reboot, Recovery, Fastboot, and Power Off).
Of course you can always add a Reboot Manager widget or shortcut to the home screen. The widget has all of the options on it. You can select individual shortcuts or the selector shortcut which will bring up a list of reboot options when clicked.
Thanks,
Cody

For those who don`t want to brick power button may be an answer beside using apps like tap tap or similar in using sensor and consuming battery life.
It is possible to do this with desire s? (for volume up/down or home key maybe)

Has anyone already found a way to display the lockscreen using another button then the power on/off button? I can't get used to the new unlocking method. On my Hero, I just had to press a button to see the lockscreen and I even could press a button twice to unlock it.
I guess it should be possible with rooted phones? But I don't know how ofc...
Solution:
You need to edit the file bravo-keypad.kl in /system/usr/keylayout
Open the file in a text editor, you'll see something like this:
Code:
key 102 HOME
key 139 MENU
key 158 BACK
key 217 SEARCH
key 107 ENDCALL WAKE_DROPPED
key 116 POWER WAKE_DROPPED
key 115 VOLUME_UP WAKE
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
You'll have to put the string 'WAKE_DROPPED' behind the button you wish to use to unlock. It has been set on POWER and ENDCALL by default.
You need to pull the file first via recovery, edit it, then push it back to your phone. You can only do this via the recovery, not via programs like Root Explorer!
Go into recovery, then type in the following commands:
Windows:
adb-nilezon shell mount /system
adb-nilezon pull /system/usr/keylayout/bravo-keypad.kl c:\
edit bravo-keypad.kl to your liking
adb-nilezon push c:\bravo-keypad.kl /system/usr/keylayout/bravo-keypad.kl
adb-nilezon shell reboot
Mac:
./adb-mac shell mount /system
./adb-mac pull /system/usr/keylayout/bravo-keypad.kl
edit bravo-keypad.kl to your liking
./adb-mac push bravo-keypad.kl /system/usr/keylayout/bravo-keypad.kl
./adb-mac shell reboot
many thanks to RedDragCZ and ritdaw!

Although I didn't try myself I've heard that tap tap is working on Desire S.
Another option is possible if you run CM7 rom (early beta can be found in this section). Within CM settings there is an option to enable volume keys to wake the device. I've tested it and it works perfectly. You can also use it in conjunction with Screen Off And Lock app (free version on the Market) which is fantastic app in itself. It puts a shortcut on your home screen and by tapping it you send your device to sleep. This is perfect combination for me since it actually enables me to skip using power button completely.
As for capacitive keys, afaik it's impossible to wake the device with them.

Would this method not cause battery drain as it either uses the proximity sensor or keeps the screen in partial wake mode?

I know that is working but at full recharge after 9 hours in the morning I checked battery status what is using it and tap tap app was using 46% of it... is a very good app but I don`t want to stay with recharger in my pocket )
I have modified all saga_keypad.kl in /system/usr/keylayout, made key 114,115 (volume keys) WAKE_DROPPED and nothing... I can`t unlock screen with volumes.
CM7 rom can use it, LockBot can use it why we can`t use it by modify it in manual mode without any app?
edit: I have tried this using Root Explorer file edit. After I saw this:

I believe the question was about Screen Off And Lock app? If that's the case then no, there's no extra battery drain. Tapping the shortcut puts the phone into proper sleep mode.
I`m using Screen Off And Lock too binded on search key to turn off. I liked to tap tap but I don`t want to have proximity sensor always on.
HEEEEELP. Now I can`t use my buttons ((( what should I do please? I can use touch screen but no buttons ( How can I enter in recovery to full wipe without buttons? (
Through ADB.
adb shell reboot recovery
use SEARCH key to lock screen
key 217 SEARCH => key 217 POWER

so I think we can UNLOCK screen by using POWER botton
i managed to go in rom manager > boot into recovery > wipe/format everithing and installing new rom.

yee keys are working now. so don`t use root explorer to modify keyboard settings :|
Ended to use WidgetLocker. Very good app and I can unlock screen with volume keys but I have to forget default lockscreen (lbc rom)
I'd love to be able to implement this feature as well!
I've used WidgetLocker which did the job but the lockscreens weren't quite to my taste.
Anyone else out there keen for this feature?
No luck until now...so I`m not the only one who doesn`t want to use 3rd app that drain battery to unlock screen ) Welcome in the club bro...
update: after using ButtonRemapper v0.2.4.1:
1.volume +- with wake_dropped = didn`t worked to unlock screen.
2.volume +- binded as power and wake_dropped = when screen was on it worked to make screen off but when screen was off didn`t worked to unlock.
out of ideas :|

Hey fellow XDA members!
I was using my phone and accidentally clicked a bunch of things xD
So I was like, well it would be nice to have a way to lock my screen but still see it lol.
Then I saw on Facebook where someone said "I really hate when I give my phone to someone to look at a picture and they swipe left or right to look at other pictures"
So I made an app that you can lock the screen and disable all touch input, it also disables the status bar from being expanded as well. Also consumes button presses
You activate the lock by either long pressing on the search button, or a notification
To unlock your screen again, just enter a pattern which you created I love this app Hope you guys do as well!
Donations appreciated! Thanks are loved!
UPDATE 10.31.13
- Fixed home button issue
- Temporarily fixed recent apps issue
UPDATE 11.1.13
- Removed trying to close recent apps, instead screen is completely black and you can only unlock it, nothing else will unlock it. and you cannot see what is on the screen. (labeled as b1 for "beta 1" as im not sure how many people will like this method.)
Downloads temporarily removed.

Nice work with this app. It works like a charm on my Nexus 7 2013. I've featured it on the XDA Portal.
Also I forgot device has no search button and in the full screen mode for gallery app no notification pulldown is available. I know gallery lock down was a focus for the app.

I haven't used this app yet since im in the office now but I just cant wait to try this
This is something I was really looking for but never thought that someone like you will make an app for this too
Great work mate :good::good::good:
I'm curious from a dev standpoint - how do you handle the home key presses? Or does the system level alert cause them to be ignored automatically?
EDIT: A home key press bypasses the app. Maybe add an option so your app can be a "launcher" as well.
sounds promising and useful! the screen is locked but what about the the home button and the back key? can others bypass the lock by pressing them?
Easy to bypass

Stock Samsung galaxy s3. Used home button and took me to my wallpaper. Unable to exit app. Unable to input gesture. Only way to exit app was restarting phone. So while it works as promised. If I passed the phone over to a friend they and press the hold button only option left for me is hard reset and this is a problem for me and I'm sure others. Otherwise this is a great app and has great potential. Keep up the good work. Look forward to a fix.

I found a bug. When you press the home button you will go to your home screen, and if you long press it, you will have access to all recently used apps without restrictions. The settings could be there...
Should be a great idea. Unfortunately I do not have search button. The only physical buttons I have are the power and volume buttons. And, for all full screen apps, I also cannot callup the notification to activate SCREENLOCK. In fact, I have most apps mod to full screen, meaning that I have no means to activate your app for most of the time.

The buttons will still be pressable, however, the back and menu buttons should be consumed by my app. The recent apps menu is kind of tricky to override, as system windows usually have a higher priority, like my S4 has multiwindow, when you click the little button to expand multiwindow, you can still access the apps and leave whatever is locked. I have a few ideas to fixing this that i will have to test and try myself. It is only version 1.0 so there is lots of room for improvement!

Addressing the issues!
Hello everyone! Thanks for the awesome feedback for my app!
I would like to address the issues stated:
HOME BUTTON PRESSES
- This is next to impossible to completely consume. It was patched back in froyo or gingerbread i think. However, there are other methods I can take that will prevent this.
1st. I can make my app behave as a launcher app, meaning, when you press the home button, it will ask you which app to use as your launcher, you would select mine, then in my app, i would ask you which app to use as your actual home launcher. Then, when you press the home button, my app will get launched, it will do some checking, then if the screen lock is enabled, it will simply ignore the home button press, but if the screen lock is not enabled, it will navigate to your actual home screen. (Probably the prefered method)
2nd. The home button will take you to your home screen, however, the screen will remain locked. (Kind of like this option cause you can then detect if the friend or person was trying to be snoopy xD)
3rd. The home button will take you to your home screen, however, immediately after it will relaunch whichever app you locked and re-lock the screen.
I'm not too sure which option I will pick, mainly depends on device compatibility, I'm thinking the first and second options will be more compatible with more devices. So I will test those two options and if I like them both, I will include both options in the release.
UNABLE TO ACTIVATE IN FULLSCREEN
- Again, multiple fixes to this problem
1. You can use my "Clock in fullscreen" app to show a clock in fullscreen, then pressing the clock will expand the status bar.
2. I can listen for when the foreground app goes into a fullscreen state, then create an onscreen button, Clicking the button will lock the screen and remove the button, unlocking the screen will unlock the screen and show the button again. ( I probably will go with this approach) I might even make this an always showing button, or at least an option.
I think those were the extent of the issues, I will get working on it as soon as possible! Thanks again everyone for the support! Thats what makes any app wonderful, is the KIND support from the users instead of silly belly aching xD
Have a wonderful day everyone!
The other issue wasn't addressed but it may be a nonissue with the planned fixes. But when the lock is active and the back or home button is pressed, the notification shade continuously rolls up. I also never attempted and also didn't hear anyone ever say they were able to unlock their phone with the gesture.
Keep up the great work.
Here's a suggestion:
In SlimBean you have the option to "expand desktop" which hides the status bar as well as the soft navigation buttons (optional). Check the GitHub here: https://github.com/SlimRoms
Might have some leads on how to do that.:good:
Hi all
İs there a way to turn off all fingerprint and 4 digits pin code for unlocking screen?
İ remove fingerprint but the pin code stays still. İ need to just swipe to unlock.
Thnx
I was able to revert to no code/password check for the lock screen...
Removed also the PIN?
Nope.No any selection for no pin. Only fingerprint in menu.
Deactivating fingerprint also didint remove pin lock.
What must i do?
Delete all your fingerprints.
This is the menu.Png.
The top selection is no password/pin selection. But it is blocked.
Why can it be blocked default by it self?
You must previously delete all your stored fingerprints.
Did that already mate

Have you enabled any VPN connection?
How could i do it? I dont know if.i did?
If you don't know how to do I think that you didn't activate the credential storage and any VPN.... So this is not the cause.
Check also among the device administrators if there is something unexpected.
İ ve checked everything but nothing found. So boring.İ ve got.the doze app and i uninstalled it also.
As described in the settings, lockscreen PIN check is under control of device administrators, credentials storage and cryptography...
Were you ever able to lock/unlock screen without PIN or password?
Untill selecting the fingerprint screen lockin i could.Or i have never tried i dont remember excatly. I think when i bought the phone i just put the fingerprint first.
Where can i check the device administrators menu? And where/what is cryptography?
Under Advanced settings/Security.
No way..Starting to get upset and angry with this phone. It will be very funny if i have to reset the phone for this problem!
Any solutions? I also have the same problem...
Solution to mate 8 password removal
Step 1 go to settings
Step 2 Go to Advanced settings
Step 3 Click on Security
Step 4 Scroll right to the bottom
Step 5 Click on Screen Lock
Step 6 Type in your password.
you will now see that when you lock your phone with the power button and unlock it with the power button, the lock screen has been completely removed.
you want the lock screen back with no password see below
Step 1 go to settings
Step 2 Go to Advanced settings
Step 3 Click on Security
Step 4 Scroll right to the bottom
Step 5 Click on Screen Lock
Step 6 you will see the screen lock will turn on.
Thats it, exit settings and test, you can now lock the phone and unlock the phone then swipe to on the screen to unlock it to your apps.
I did this and it worked for me because i had the same issue.

Doing all the steps, but after encryption, phone reboots and when i open nova launcher and go to settings - accounts it still says "This device was reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device". Tried on Moto XT1541 by the way.
Any suggestions?
You must be doing something wrong friend, I did 3 different XT1541 and everything worked as intended.
After Encryption (using DPC 'set up Owner' method) it will allow you to add a new user without inputting old details. You don't have to add new user, just going into settings and doing factory reset should also work.
Guy from the forum made video of the unlocking process, please watch and try to find your mistake - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJl_cq04LY8 (just ignore the part where he is looking for/installing Device Provisioner, it's not necessary)

Actually, seems like on some devices (if not all, pending verification )it's going to launcher after SECOND reset.
So that would mean it's only necessary to install the DPC Test, do encryption and restart 2x times after the encryption is done, shortening the whole process a lot!
On Test Dpc not showing 'Set up device owner'
Post screens of what you get in the DPC app. Also, fully charge your phone's battery.

Uhm, so weird. Maybe you did something wrong. Method still working, just did XT1541 last week.
Might be you have some latest update and Motorola fixed it, but I highly doubt it.
All I can suggest is - wipe and go again.

I Do Everything ! but Not Success Dear ! :'( i think this method cant working in new sec patches!
Just did it again - still working on Android 6.0.1 with 1 March 2016 security patch. If anyone has any problems let me know.
P.S. This time after initial 'phone encryption' I had to re-run Test DCP manually (bypassing Google login with Nova launcher shortcut, as described in the first post).
After running it for the second time it finished setting up the admin profile. Then reset phone, login with new Google account.

XT1527 AT&T with 5.1. There is no Google menu there. Does any another options exist?
You should be able to access the same menu through Apps-Google App-Notifications (app name might be different, going from memory).
