Route Tether Data through VPN (tun0) on 6.0... - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

OK so I need to route my tethered data through a VPN, it's not to steal data I don't care about that it's for security purposes. Anyway is there any way to do this I've read multiple articles on reconfiguring the iptables but that doesn't work, I used to use Wi-Fi Tether Router by Fabio Grasso but that doesn't do that anymore either. If anyone has any ideas please...
Thank You

Try adguard.. it's adblocking app that creates a local vpn for filtering advt data. Now you can activate mobile tethering and see how it goes. Hope this helps.

I can't find it anywhere this adguard. Is it in the Play Store>
I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for though I'm trying to connect to my VPN through something like OpenVPN and have all the data coming from the tether routed through there...

Adguard is banned on Plays tired for obvious reasons. It is available on their site. Google it and you should have their link. No harm trying it.

i tried it out, it's just a proprietary version of openvpn, but it specifically says it can't tunnel tethered devices. man i'm about to just go back to my htc desire. who wouldve rgought getting a working vpn would be so hard

Which Anti-Theft app do you guys use?

As far as i know all the current anti-theft apps need 3g, as their protection system is based on SMS and need internet access to locate the device.
Is there any other app that overcomes this limitation that I am unware of?
+1
Cerberus needs only wifi. You can log in to the homepage to trace the device.
I use it on my tf300 and it work just fine.
If you get Cerberus you can have up to 3 devices on one user, i think. I have 2 devices.

Okay so is an internet connection still required to trace the device?
EDIT: seems the device will mail its location if connected to the internet, also cerberus will automatically try to connect to open wifi networks nearby

Yes you need Internet. And as you found out, the App will send an email or you can trace it live from their Web site.

[Q] Can anyone here explain WHY foxfi needs a VPN certificate?

Hello everybody. I recently installed FoxFI for a relatives phone so they could tether over wireless. I am rooted so I do not use FoxFI but I had a question about it's setup. I have searched and searched and for the life of me I cannot find one post that fully explains why I had to install a VPN certificate and add a PIN/lock to my relatives phone. Part of me wonders if this VPN they use isn't used for some nefarious purpose? Does anyone have a reliable source stating HOW foxfi uses this VPN to allow tether? I thought that the FoxFi site would explain it but they seem to have been swallowed up by PDAnet and their knowledgebase is less than perfect. Thanks in advance.
Android 4.3 I bielive has tighter security and foxfi cannot create a new virtual network host so it must create a fake vpn connection to run the traffic through the app where as below android 4.3 it can just make a virtual network

Well that would make sense but my family member was running 4.2.1 and still needed the certificate?

VPN by Private Internet Access
Also used on my pc. Great speed, decent price, and tested anonymity (better look into that on whatever you choose, not all do a very good job )
VPN unlimited, 20$ for three years access unlimited, five devices. Deal available through stack social

2nd the VPN from private Internet access works great and very simple

VyprVPN. Use it on two laptops and on the phone. Its very good.
Some additional features to prevent DNS leaks and another feature that i forgot the name of that disguises the fact you are using a VPN for traffic(Useful for the office, that blocks all VPN connections over the WiFi.)
Tunnel Bear as suggested by @jhurtault is really good...
Vypr is good for cross platform compatibility...
PureVPN one subscription work on computer + Android phone

Weird problem, can't access Google ONLY on 3G

You know when you click a Google search result or a story from Google Now, you don't actually click on that link, instead you click on a transfer link to Google which transfers you to that site? Well that thing doesn't work at all on my international 935f but only while on 3G. However, a number of related things do work.
I can type in Google.CA in my browser and it all works (I'm in canada). Although Google.Com doesn't, while on 3g.
All websites other than Google.Com work. Including other region specific Google domains like .Co.Uk or .Jp
Everything works while on wifi.
I have another phone an S5 on the same carrier, with the same apn settings. It works with Google now just fine.
maybe just some temporal dns problems

Yes but the question is how to fix it. I have tried an obnoxious app that uses one of those VPN tricks to use alternate dns server and it totally made it work. Except I don't want to run an obnoxious app on the background all the time pushing me ads.
if you are rooted try app called set dns. i would try factory reset before.

[Completed] Free mobile hotspot tethering using same ip

So I'm looking for an app that allows free wireless tethering for android, on iOS I used to use an app called MyWi from Cydia, everything I've looked up so far for android either requires using a pc with n app like pdanet or doesn't work, I need an app that doesn't let my carrier see that I'm tethering. The way MyWi worked on iOS was, any device that connects would use the same IP address as the phone providing the hotspot and it worked great I used to be able to tether as much as I wanted w/o my hotspot data being used up please help.

Hi, Thanks for using XDA assist.
There is a general forum for android here http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help where you can try to ask to get expert's help.
Good luck
