Music playback gets interrupted by home/recent button (solution inside) - Huawei P9 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys,
so (as a musician :angel I noticed instantly that when you are listening to music and tap that home button or recent button the music gets interrupted slightly, just for a split second but enough to be really annoying (amazing speaker on this phone btw, wasn't expecting that). It is most apparent when music is playing and you press the recent button repeatedly.
Anyway, I tried to find a solution and found out that it's caused by the "now on tap" feature. I guess as soon as you hit that homebutton it starts scanning the screen or something.
Solution: You have to change the default setting for "Assistance & voice input" which you can find under Settings/Apps/Advanced/Default app settings. I use screen off and lock for this action but maybe it's enough if you just disable the "use text/screenshot from screen toggles here.
cheers

I tried your fix, but without luck. Whenever pressing the home button I get a stutter in the music. Did you do anything else besides what you described?

Hm well I completely disabled now on tap? Maybe that?

No luck
Well... some luck....
I'm on Google Now and whenever i'm on the home screen pressing the home button, dragging down notification or using the previous app menu i get a stutter in the playback. But when using the Huawei launcher music works flawlessly. So it seems to be Google Now Launcher related.

So it's partly the launchers fault. I see. It works with Nova launcher though since that's what I'm using and since I disabled the home button now on tap feature I don't have any issues with playback.

Listening to MP3 with locking buttons or screen, possible?

Hello,
I would like to listen to my WM(mp3 player) while my device is in my pocket with some type of screen lock or buttons lock. If I play music and turn the device off the music stops.
Is there anyway I can get around this?
many thanks
PocketPlayer does this...
Great software!
you can set the wmp so that you can toggle off the screen when playing mp3z...some helpful chap had a post on how to do this...or you can use apps like nodisplay or screenoff which allows you to switch off the screen and still play the wmp.
To answer my question.
What I did was used that togged screen fuction which turns off the screen and made all buttons set to play, which means pushing any button while listen to music would just keep playing it with having the screen lock on.
I have a wmp 9 and it has settings/buttons - > "un-map buttons during background play" but I could not find an option to turn the screen off, where did you find this option?
I suggesest GSPlayer!
It is an MP3/OGG player with veriy good sound quality.

This does not mean what you think it means.
The button settings you set in wmp are only active while wmp is running. If you set "unmap buttons during background play" the button settings you set are only active while wmp is in the foreground, e.g if you go to the today screen you will not be able to change to the next track using mapped buttons.
The option to switch the screen off is called "screen toggle". If mapped to a button, this will switch the screen on or off when you press on it.
I see many people not understanding these wordings, which is a shame, as with the screen off you can get similar play times to an ipod. With the screen on its likely you can only get 3-4 hours
Surur
FOR one button to lock and unlock , you can use software"displayoff".
FOR two button to lock and unlock , you can use software"screenlock", i recommand this one
both software just lock the screen, the Ops still process.

Disable use whilst listening to music

Hi all! I have an xdaiis & its running o2 1.40. I often listen to music whilst out however haven't found a way of listening to media player but not allowing the unit to function by an accidental tap of the screen or a button, and pressing power stops media player too. Is there a way of stopping this?
Thanks
Leo
You could use one of the many software tools available to lock your PDA until you unlock it via a specific combination of keypresses - I had one on my own XDA until I hard reset it - can't remember what it's called right now, but the icon is just a yellow padlock.
listening to music with your device off
Leo,
I accidently found the solution to your problem !!
Start the media player and then press the centre button of the navigation pad to black out the screen. The media player will continue playing songs without the device coming alive by accidental pressing of button or tapping on the screen. To bring it back, press the centre button of the navigation tab again.
Try and see if it works for you.

XDAIIs
The Action button (centre D-Pad) on my 2i switches between play and pause in my install of Windows Media Player 10, just for the record.
Turn display off
go to wmp settings or options and navigate to buttons.. assign a button for display toggle.. Tat solves u
Thanks for your help guys!
Unfortunately the screen toggle only works with the screen & my buttons are still activated which my krussel case always presses against.
Anyone know of a way of stopping the buttons too? It's crazy that it has been designed this way!
Thank you
Leo

Try DeltaLock. It's very small and simple, and does just what you're looking for.

WMP. turn off the screen, not buttons. how?

While playing music in windows media player, i assigned a button to "Toggle Screen" function which effectively turns off the screen but keeps buttons alive so i can skip/seek/pause/etc... but the problems is that after about 1 minute, hardware buttons get disabled as well (but music keeps playing), which is quite frustrating when you expect buttons to work but they dont anymore.
i'm assuming its because in my power settings i set it to "Turn off device if not used for 1 minute".... But the confusing part is that i've used to have same settings on my PPC-6800/Titan/Mogul and the hardware buttons stayed on forever after i turned off the screen using WMP's "Toggle Screen" function.
is there an excpetion list somewhere that would turn my device off in 1 minute if not used UNLESS there is "WMP/wmplayer.exe" process running? or maybe there is an different solution that would produce the desired result?
PS: i'm running Sprint's stock rom.
Thanks!
You could use AEButton Plus to assign the Screen Toogle to any button you want (for example to long press the action key). That would work in any application, also in WMP.
tried it and AEButton Plus does the job. assigned the function to the d-pad's down button (center button is used for enter, ok/minimize, close, and task-manager through one click, double click, tripple click, long click respectively)... xcept now there is this half a second lag everytime i want to scroll down with the d-pad. quite annoying...
btw after some experimenting i found that wmp's "toggle screen" function turns off the screen and keeps desired buttons working, indefinetely, only if i disable the whole "Turn off device if not used for x minutes" option (Turn off the backlight option doesnt have any effect on wmp's function). so it seems that this function is causing the problem.
since on ppc6800 wmp's function worked perfect without any hiccups even with that power setting turned on, i suspect that there just has to be some way to replicate same behavior on touch pro. is there some place in registry that controls the power settings and its preferences?
PS: i need to "toggle screen" only when in wmp, cuz in other cases i just use power button to effectively turn off and lock the device using s2u2.
I use WMP's built in function of toggle screen. Set it to hold left. It works like a charm.

what are the settings in your "Start > Settings > System > Power > Advanced" screen? and also, what ROM are you running? because setting 'toggle screen' to hold left and having 'turn off device after x..' set still produce the bug i mentioned in the first post, hardware buttons disabled 40 seconds after initiating 'toggle screen' with wmp...

[Q] Using Camera Button to Wake Phone

I wanted to assign the camera shutter button to wake up the phone. I've used other lockscreen apps like Go Locker, Live Screen, and Magic Locker and they all allow the volume rocker to wake the screen, but not the camera button. I then tried the app "buttonremapper" or something like that that I found on xda. It didn't work.
I found this folder:
/system/usr/keylayout/
with the files:
AVRCP.kl
cpcap-key.kl
edison-keypad.kl
evfwd.kl
omap-keypad.kl
qwerty.kl
usb_keyboard_102_en_us.kl
Everywhere I saw:
212 Camera
(all but the first two files)
I changed it to:
212 Camera WAKE_DROPPED
(and added this to cpcap-key.kl)
It worked...but not always. Every now and then, it would not wake up with the camera button (especially if I hadn't had the screen on in a while). Any ideas? Is this a foolish endeavor?
Also, the Search button sometimes does not bring up the search function (long-pressing doesn't bring the voice search) right after unlocking the screen. The haptic still works, but the search doesn't pop up. The ability returns if I press the home button first. The same goes for the camera hardware button not opening the camera app but working after I press home first. This was happening even before my modifications and only intermittently.
My mod is not at all important, but I'm curious why it doesn't work all the time. I'm not sure if it's related to my buttons not working regularly, but I suspect it does.
I am using Go Launcher and tried a variety of lockscreen apps. I just did a factory reset last night to see if it fixed it, but it didn't. I reloaded a minimal amount of apps. I am using the stock camera at this point (I didn't reload camera zoom fx--but it had the same issue before the factory reset anyway). Could this be related to an app or is there something deeper at fault? I doubt it's a hardware defect since it is corrected by touching the home button.
If you think you have an idea but need more info, let me know. I appreciate any suggestions!

Question Touch delay after exiting apps

Hi, as a really fast user that needs quick actions im suffering a bit from these weird touch delay after closing apps or overlays... I tried different launchers and different apps, tried safemode and tried disabling animations nothing worked, video attached for example
Your browser is not able to display this video.
I use Xposed edge pro for system gesture and it's fast AF

I'm not seeing much of any delays in your video but maybe its because it's too small on my screen. If you want to speed things up navigating between apps go into developer options and there are 3 parameters you can play with (top 3 in screen shot)
I'm having different issues after updating. I'm on a Verizon S22 Ultra, using Nova Launcher with gestures and power savings mode enabled.
I'm having an issue where, after I use the pull down gesture (swiping downward) on the home screen (for example, if I'm just trying to switch from wifi to mobile data, or trying to turn off Bluetooth, or trying to turn on location) a lot of the time I'll have a delayed and or almost immediate ghost touch input, without touching anything.
Sometimes, even if I don't touch anything and I just swipe down to bring down the pull down ui, it'll act like I used the swipe up gesture and clear the pull down ui and return me to the home screen. Other times it'll act like I pressed the home button icon (there will be a soft white glow that shows up around the home screen icon), even though I never touched the home button icon.
Other times, on the home screen, I'll use the slide down gesture. The pull down comes down, and almost immediately it'll act like I have pressed the recents button and my recent apps pops up. It's like someone else is controlling my phone, but only on the homescreen, very annoying.
This only seems to happen when I'm on my home screen and trying to use the pulldown gesture when power savings mode is enabled. Although, it did happened a couple of times in Samsung Internet Browser Beta when power savings was enabled and prior to the recovery cache clearing. Randomly, the settings ui popped up on me while trying to type in an internet address, but I never touched the hamburger menu icon in the lower right.
This doesn't seem to happen in the Samsung Internet Browser Beta anymore after performing the recovery cache clearing. When it was happening in the browser, I'd try turning off the power saver and the ghost touches seemed to stop.
On the homescreen, once the pulldown comes down, even when pulling down for a second time to fully expand the ui (sometimes almost immediately and or even after a few seconds of not touching anything), it'll either take me right back to the home screen (like I pressed the home button icon or it'll pull up the recent apps ui and I never touched anything). It is wonky.
I've tried clearing cache through the recovery method and it's still acting up when power saving mode is enabled. The only thing that seems to have caused it to stop, is turning off power saver mode.
Anyone else experiencing this issue of ghost touches with power savings enabled along with Nova Launcher's gestures (or on any other 3rd party launcher and or even the stock launcher perhaps?) on the home screen? I haven't had time to record this yet, I'll have to get some video of it, just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this or knows of a better workaround perhaps?

I use Nova with power saving mode enabled and have no issues with ghost touches. Are you using the latest version of Nova 7? How did you migrate from your old phone (backup and restore Nova settings)?
I used to have this problem with Dr. Ketan's rom but not on samsung's.

That's known issue with Gestures and launchers on almost all android phones. I have that issue on Pixel too if I use Nova or other launcher

Okay, cool. I appreciate your input. I'm using Nova 7.0.57. Yeah, I loaded Nova on the phone from my old Note 20 to the S22 Ultra. Things have been fine, no ghost touches. I noticed it happening right after I downloaded and installed the April security patch.
At first I thought it was me going too fast through everything like usual and maybe I was hitting the back button or home button or just off the screen by accident and closing out of the expanded notifications ui. But, it has continued, just not in the Samsung Internet Browser Beta anymore.
Now it's only when I'm on the home screen and I try swiping down to expand notifications, then it acts all wonky and either closes by itself and or takes me to the recents ui.
I don't use nova, but have picked up phantom touches in certain apps....this is after the April update. I would open ambivision app...in the settings menu it would exit out of settings or sub menus in the app...thought it's an app bug, but sometime when swiping down the notification bar I also get phantom swipes closing the pulldown as if I swiped up....few other appa also random swipes/gestures

Yup, I thought it was just some apps that had bugs but it's happening on the pull down notifications bar and expanding the notifications too. This all happened after the April security patch update. I didn't have any of this at all prior.
I noticed it immediately after the update, I opened the Samsung internet beta browser, started browsing and had the settings ui popping up and the recents ui pop up. I thought I was just moving through things too fast and hitting buttons. Then on the notification pull downs, they started rolling back up right after I'd pull it down.
It still happens quite a bit and the only thing I've found that seems to stop the phantom touches is turning off power saving mode. Dark mode also seems to slow it down, but it doesn't always stop it. It must have something to do with being in 60hz mode instead of 120hz as power savings reduces the refresh rate to 60hz.
I also picked it up after the update. .also with the pull down of notifications etc
I also started seeing phantom touches after the Apr update - especially with Google News app. I turned off extra dim feature and now I don't get any phantom touches!
