I sent my S7 to a Samsung authorized service repair center. Verdict: They need to replace the motherboard. Its officially an hardware issue, thus not affecting all devices. The ones that are affected needs replacement/or motherboard replacement. When they replace the motherboard, they have (no choice) to also replace the screen. Cost CDN 690$.
Its all over the web. Small number of units are affected though.
I wounder why Samsung just don't send me a new phone as their cost for a new device is around 240$ USD.
Can you describe more of your issue? I'm also getting a microsd/eject notification on every boot, but it can be cleared away and my microsd is usable/shown in settings->storage.
That's not a problem. Swipe it away and it's gone. It's a notification. Means nothing to performance. Why would that be means for a new motherboard. Does your card not read?
Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
On a reboot this is totally normal since the phone stops reading the sim as well as the SD. And then reconnect everything. My issue was that the notification was randomly coming back even when the phone was not rebooted. Plus, when I was accessing my music and /or pictures, the phone was sometimes freezing in the middle. Then I had to reboot. Then my music /pictures from SD was working for a while, then freezing again. No it was not just a swipe away fix. If the notification randomly comes back when the phone it means that the phone stopped reading it for a second /micro second and then reading it again (like if I had remove the tray and re introducing it.

See above reply. No it was a motherboard issue.

I, too have this problem. When the sd card is unavailable, my apps that I store there are also unavailable.
Is this a bug? Will Samsung fix this?

What the hell is going on. I tried resetting and everything, even exchanged the device and the new one is doing the same thing! Also vibrating and force closing it is getting on my nerves! The followig seems to happen after a while I am TIRED of having to turn of my phone and turn it back on! ~ I go to play a .mp3 it says " FIle type not supported"...My .mp3 ringtone does not work the phone just vibrates the selected ringtone doesnt work. I got too take a picture or record video it says "Camera Failed"....I get a visual voicemail....the "play" button is grayed out and I have to turn off phone turn it BACK On just to check my voicemail. Also occassioally my sms wont work either. I turn my phone off and on every morning and throughout day I notice this and its getting REAL annoying !
Well first off, this isn't a software flaw, this is specific to you, as we have many users here including myself who are using these phones daily without the issues you are describing.
You had said that the issue was with an mp3, can you upload that somewhere for us to test on our phones?
As far as the camera and visual voicemail, I've never heard of that issue before, perhaps you ended up with a bad phone again?
I am getting the frequent force close with messaging. I also have had problems with the camera and idk about the mp3 stuff I haven't put any ringtones on the phone yet. This is getting really annoying I agree.
I don't have any issues with mine? Have you guys done anything like rooting or flashing anything?
Nope, completely stock. The most I have done is take a screen shot lol.
hmm maybe some have a defect? It's not all SK4g's though, as some of us have no issues at all. I would suggest getting it replaced by T-Mobile, as this is a factory defect. not sure why that happened to you guys. has anyone else had these issues and found any fixes?
That's kinda tough the hearest t-mobile is like 4 hours from here /:
One of my friends who went with me on the trip to get the SK also got one and he says he's never gotten a force close so you may be right. But could it have anything to do with the amount of texts I send/receive? Because I have to admit it is pretty excessive. The failing to send messages when I am receiving one simultaneously is expected, but not the force closes in my opinion.
It shouldn't force close on you. I know mine fails to send every once in a while too, as I text a lot (kinda the reason I got the phone). failing to send isn't as big of a deal, as it notifies you and you just have to click resend. Not entirely sure why it's force closing though? I wonder if a logcat might help? if you have adb installed, you can try adb logcat and see what shows up when you force close? if we can find the issue there, it might be fixable from our end. all depends on where the flaw lies/if it's just a bad apk somehow or if there's an actual hardware issue or something.
I'll do a log next time there is a fc, I'm having another issue or it may be related, but this one is with WidgetLocker I believe. Sometimes when I go to unlock the phone it'll freeze up and then I dont know how to explain it, but it almost seems like it resets but it really doesnt. The phone will blackout for a little then the homescreen will pop up and service will gone for a while until the cards are read just like if I rebooted.
That might be a function of WidgetLocker, I used it on my old G1 and it always hung and black screened at me.

Yeah I know it does that from time to time, but on my previous phone it wouldn't do that reboot thing where it would lose connection then resend my latest text messages once it reconnected.
I'm not sure why it's doing that. My guess would be that the issues are caused because the SK4G doesn't use a normal lock screen. widgetlocker uses some modification of the system file for the lock screen, and perhaps it's not sure what to modify? just my 2 cents.

That's what I was thinking too, I'm gonna uninstall it for a bit and see if anything changes.
is anyone else having an issue with notification volume? everytime i reboot my SK, my notification volume gets pushed all the way down to nothing, so i don't get a sound notification for texts, emails, etc, until i move the notif. volume back up in my settings. i did root with the one-click for the Epic 4G.
This is a new UI so alot of the apps i.e. widgets you may put on will cause issues. If you like certain apps contact the dev so your device is supported correctly. Still to new to get mad at it till sum of the bugs get worked out. I did notice a couple of times when I left screen on in pocket on accident that when I go to use it again it doesn't respond to any touch but can move courser around till rebooted then its ok. If some don't already know the sk4g is almost the same as the epic. The sk4g is still a badass phone for 100bucks.
Same as the OP
I know this is a little old, but I've experienced the same problem as the OP so it seems they are not alone with this problem.
I actually tried two different newly formatted SD cards (because I thought it may have been the SD card), and still would have the problem. Then I actually did swap phones about a month ago and it seemed the problem would now take several days to resurface instead of several hours. And I could deal with that.
Since the OTA update about 2 weeks ago, the phone has been back on it's original BS as the OP posted and it's driving me nuts. I actually missed some emergency calls last night because the mp3 ringtone didn't work so I'm finding a solution to this issue today or trashing this phone.
My belief is that there is something interfering with the phone's ability to read the SD card for media. Because other apps I have that save to the SD card or read from it work fine. So I'm going to master reset it and not download any of my apps and see what happens when I set an mp3 ringtone. If it makes it through the day with no hiccups, I'll slowly add back one app at a time until hopefully I can find the culprit.
bipoler if you'd like, we can exchange via PM what apps we both have downloaded and see if we have some in common that may be problems.
I'll post back with any progress.
I've been having the problem with ringtones not working, just getting silence when I get a call. for me it seems to happen when I set a ringtone from the app Zedge, I don't think it happens when I use ringtones from the Android System, which would make sense if the issue is related to reading the sdcard. gonna go back to a system ringtone and see what happens today.
Yeah my phone had all those problems, but I installed the Lightning rom and all those problems went away, except for the ones about messages failing...I text A LOT
Lightning ROM
Thanks for that info on the Lightning Rom. I will check that out. Phone has been working flawlessly all day with the mp3 ringtone and no extra apps besides the master reset. I might give it until the morning before I start putting them back on.
On stock id install so many apps that ran on the background that id get delay from opening closing swiping and turning onthe phone.. so I wiped it installed a custom rom and just kept the essentials.. havnt had a problem since... well.. occasionly ill have to odi but that's on purpose

Have anybody here had or notice this on their sensation. On mine it disappears and then once in awhile it would come back.

yes it's a known issue
Any problems with your SD Card? Are these apps on it or are they stock apps?
There apps from the marketplace and not on the sd card.
This happens to me too, usually after the phone crashes and restarts.
I just delete from the home screen and add again. Seems only to happen too downloaded apps. It's a bit of a pain though.
Just got a replacement N5 from Google for a warranty issue and after full re-root and setup I went to get in the car today and use bluetooth and I noticed a problem. Bluetooth will not turn on. Tapping the slider moves the position to on but it remains greyed out and, in fact, off. I tried a restore of the bluetooth share and pairings from Titanium backup and that just hung and never completed. I can always factory reset it but I hate to go back through that ... anyone got a way to 're-install' bluetooth and save a reset and reconfiguring for me?

This apparently has been problem for Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. One poster from android central posted this for his Nexus 4:
I called Google technical support and they found a solution for me.
-In your Nexus 4, go to parameters/Applications/All/Bluetooth
-Here: erase cache, data and updates.
-Resart your phone.
In Nexus 5 Settings>Apps>All>Bluetooth Share. There you might try Clear data and Clear cache.
Got nothing to lose. Hope it works. I cannot test it myself since my Bluetooth is working.
Thanks for the suggestion. I had looked around and saw a couple mentions loosely similar related to the N4 but wasn't sure if same applied to N5. Looking though ... I do not have a bluetooth share app installed. That must be the issue, anyone got a way to re-install that Bluetooth Share, seems my backups from Titanium won't restore it.
Found thread where someone had your issue and solved it with reset.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/activate-bluetooth-t2595761
Maybe you could do backup to PC and get this restored with reset.
I know it is a PITA.
I figured a reset would square it away, was just hoping to find a way to avoid that if I could. I suppose next w/e I will reset if I don't find another way to get BY back.

When I run this app, it says no BT folder found. Seems the issue is that somehow this BT Share app just isn't there.
Another fix...
I know you already solved your problem, but I thought for people like me, who have found this thread later on, I'd just sign up to XDA and post my fix.
I didn't want to do a hard reset, so I played around with the "Bluetooth-Share"-thing in the Android app manager.
I cleared the cache and the data, that didn't do anything, even after a reboot I couldn't get the Bluetooth toggle from beging greyed out.
After that, I found that button at the very top right, that is labeled as " Uninstall Updates" or something like that. I tapped it and tapped OK at the following prompt. Where the "Uninstall Updates" button was before, should now be a greyed out "Disable" button. Then you need to reboot.
Try to enable Bluetooth. The toggle should turn blue after a few seconds as usual. Bluetooth should work normally now.
I hope my post helped anybody, :cyclops:

I am not having any luck. My bluetooh stopped working after doing a hard reset. Please note I've never rooted or flashed a ROM, or unlocked boot loader or anything. My N4 and N5 have always been completely stock.
I've tried everything in this thread, except I am not sure what hiwye is talking about as I cannot find an uninstall updates. I went ahead and tried another factory restore/wipe and still have same issue. I hit toggle to turn Bluetooth on, it then immediately toggles back to off.
Just as a side note, my bluetooh was working fine until the factory wipe/reset. I did the reset in an attempt to fix a sim card slot issue, that is also still not resolved. Upon restarting my phone, I get "no sim card" message. I got a new sim card and also confirmed the sim card works fine in other phones..... i can turn off, pop it out and back in and boot it again. sometimes it will see the sim card again. It may take 20 times, but finally work..... I should probably start a new thread on the sim card thing, but wondering if my motherboard needs replaced.....

I get the same Sim card missing screen I have tried a new sprint Sim and same issue. They way I have been fixing it is to pop off back cover and where the vibration motor sits (stays attached to cover) I put my finger in the hole and squeeze the 2 parts together and hold tight till it finishes booting and it will see the card. I'm not sure what's exactly the problem is but it works as temp fix and will stay until the next reboot.

Only device so doing it and taking PUC not gonna happen let me look up some images and I'll post them its not that difficult if you have had the back cover off before its very obvious where motor is. The motor is literally just under the flash led. Pop off cover starting at the top and slowly down each side with a guitar pick there is a tiny bit of adhesive at the bottom of rear cover about where the soft keys are when phone is on. Peel that up slow and you will see the vibration motor stuck to rear cover. See the space it came out of and put finger in that hole. And other finger opposite the first one on the glass and squeeze.... Not crazy so you break screen. Don't take much pressure. Start light and boot it. Says no Sim, try again with a little more pressure. When it first happened I googled sh*t for 2 days and couldn't find a fix. And this worked when I tried and a few reboots after. I shut phone off or battery dies I gotta do it to get Sim recognized.

Worked for me, thanks.
Device info: running a SM-G930F (Exynos) @ G930FXXU1APAW
Today I witnessed two apparently random reboots while using my S7. Once I believe I was just scrolling through the app drawer, and once while scrolling through Instagram. Just instantly shut down, without any hickup or system hang period. Black screen, Samsung Bootscreen.
I feel like it might be related to SD card encryption, as I had no reboots before I put in a SD card yesterday evening and activated SD encryption.
Anyone else experiencing this, and if so, under which conditions?
Update: Never saw this issue again since writing the post, might have been incidental after all..

This happened to me twice in the last 2 days, always during intensive sdcard writes.
I've been having problems with device Encryption and the external storage not mounting, but I recently noticed that after enabling Secure Startup on my Galaxy S7 Edge running 6.0.1 for Verizon and left at this screen for longer than a minute without touching it, a clicking sound as if you were pressing buttons or entering the pattern can be heard. It's continuous and clicks every other second. I Reset All Settings, Reset Network Settings and even applied updates as well as restarted the phone after turning Secure Startup off and back on, but it's still happening. Not exactly sure if this is expected, but I couldn't imagine it would be, especiall due to the fact it's really audible. Any advice or suggestions would be great! I'm really at my wits end with this phone and I'm ready to throw it away. The encryption problem I had originally (found here: SD Card No Longer Available (Encrypted) After Firmware Update) is still an issue even after applying the latest updates and I can't afford to lose all the data on my SD card again.
