I need to find the correct forum to post an issue I'm having with a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime (G360T1UVU1AOFA). Could be a general question, who knows. Long story short a customers device had some form of virus labeled with "the FBI" lol so I took the phone figuring I could fix it and return it to him. I flashed the stock rom to the phone via ODIN. it passed and was a success. The reason I didn't try a master reset first was the customer did not know his Gmail PW required to set up the phone after reset. After the flash the device booted like a brand new phone, apps got optimized all that good stuff. Made it through the initial setup WITHOUT requiring the Gmail. About 30 seconds after getting to home screen the virus pop up came back asking for exactly (no tax) 500$ to unlock. Ok awesome... So I then master reset the phone thinking the stock rom that was flashed would have reset the device. Nope. It required me to input the original Gmail used to setup the device. I'm willing to bet an unlocked Samsung bootloader that the virus is still there even after the master reset. What can I do to RESET this phone? I thought a flash was a complete reinstall.

First of all, I'd like to say that I know very little about how Android, electronics or mobile phones work in general, so everything I've done has been from internet tutorials. Please don't use any jargon as I probably won't know what you mean. ELI5.
A few days ago, I tried to root my phone and it didn't work. As a result the phone went into a boot loop and I didn't know how to fix it. The long and short of it was that I ended up flashing the stock firmware onto my phone and basically doing a complete factory reset. After some time trying this I managed to get the phone to start up and I was able to access the interface and all that. Unfortunately, my WiFi wasn't working (the button would simply turn off whenever I turned it on) so I had no way to download the most recent updates or apps or anything like that. After following several tutorials on how to fix this, such as flashing the modems and bootloader, I still wasn't having any luck. So I tried something that proved to cause even more problems - I tried to install a new kernel. Now my phone won't even boot past the logo. I probably didn't install the right one, but what can I say, it's not very clear which one I need.
Now I'd like to point out that as a layman who just wants his phone to work again, half of the time I don't understand what I'm doing or whether or not I'm doing it right. In other words, I realise that I've probably messed up my phone, but what can I do? I can't take it to a technician because I don't have the money for that, I can't buy a new phone for the same reason and I can't phone up and ask for a replacement because the warranty expired ages ago and I don't have the original documents here.
I've installed the Team Win Recovery Project on my phone and I have Odin installed on my PC as well.
TLDR; yes, I know I'm an idiot and I don't appreciate you telling me. I'd like to reset my phone to how it was before - the normal firmware, the normal kernel and all that, but I'd still like to have root access and keep the TWRP recovery mode too.

You'll probably need more information, so if you do just let me know and, if possible, where I can find it.
I have some good news. I managed to flash the firmware again and now I can access the phone again. However, the WiFi problem persists. I've tried looking on the internet for a solution, but I can't find one. I've tried flashing the modem and all that stuff, but it still doesn't work.
Oh, and by the way, I no longer have TWRP and I don't think I have root access anymore either (I had to do a data partition wipe as well).
I'd really appreciate a reply from someone. I've tried everything, but to no avail.

Hi engloa,
It's OK, I've fixed the problem now; I installed a different ROM and now it works fine. Thanks anyway though.
Hello,
I'm sure this forum probably receives way too many of these posts, but I really do need help and my friend recommended I go here.
Last night, I was trying to root my Samsung Galaxy Note GT-7000 and afterwards ended up deleting too much apps, so lost my Play store and google play services. After which I did a factory reset, but when the phone was meant to reboot, it ended up only displaying the "Unfortunately, Samsung Setup Wizard has stopped". Now I can't get past Setup and at the same time, can't complete setup as well. It won't go past that screen, and I Can get into download mode and reboot mode - but reboot mode is of no use and turning it off and on only takes me back to the after mentioned screen.
Luckily, I have a Nokia to tide me over, but as I suspect my Note may be bricked, I don't really want to have to spend around 20000 rupees buying a new phone. I presume I may need to use Odin or a similar program to install custom recovery , but I don't know the correct files I should use and what to do, so as not to cause any more damage :/
I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help me, so I can use my phone again, preferably someone who is willing to explain, considering I do admit I'm basically a noob at this and probably shouldn't have been so idiotic as to have attempted it in the first place.
Thank you in advance,
Sakshi
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA assist.
I found a helpful guide that may help you restore stock firmware on your phone:
[STOCK ROMS] N7000 All stock ROMs + install + Root guide All at 1place,Latest 4.1.*
Although the guide is a bit dated, the same procedure should still apply.

Hello
I had a phone which I unfortunately downloaded malware , you can ask but you will see naiveity and mistakes I made.
Anyhow.... I had to flash my phone THL 5000 mkt6592 and was not sure how, even after google searching etc. I eventually downloaded the Latest (after the first version I thought was the latest it was the top one in the web page but the latest was the bottom :-/ ) worked... to an extant. I flashed and formatted and downloaded the ROM I got from the THLphoneshop.
First thing i did- I bricked my phone all well and good hopefully the virus/malware is gone.
1) I thought everything was great, the malware that installed a ROM without any text was no longer seen (positive to an extant).
2a) I then tried again and the phone worked with the imei not being valid without my sim card as I don't want to put it in yet till I fix it.
2b) The touchscreen does not work properly, I press the top to try to select a button in the centre ... I have read similar things but not sure what to do.
3) My phone is now looping in the reset, I have tried to boot in safe mode hoping this would be fixed, I will try again and flash again but not sure. I have tried various tutorials.
androidmtk website was where I got it from, .... what was ROM with my rom sorry for the Intended pun... what was wrong my rom or with what I did?
Is the Rom Rom? (Is the ROM wrong? intended pun again... are there rules for the number of bad jokes in messages? )
Are there other better ROMS I can use which are just as secure, and easy for a newbie like me to put on my phone?
Thanks in advance.
Harry

Hi everyone, I hope that you can help me. My phone was rooted for quite a long time but since it was rooted it wouldn't allow me to access my banking app or PayPal or other apps that I needed to, so around a week ago I decided to unroot it with a simple unroot button in the SuperSU.
However this did not end well and when my phone was rebooting it got stuck in the boot loop and it would not load again, I tried wiping the cache which didn't help. I then wiped the phone completely and that did not help with anything.
So then I read about it and I decided to try using Odin to flash the phone with the stock firmware, and whichever firmware I used the Odin would fail and give me a "Nand write start fail". I tried for hours and day and could not get this to work.
So then I decided I would try contacting Samsung and see if they could fix it for me, they took the phone but today I got an email saying that the can't repair it because the KNOX was tripped and the warranty is voided.
So right now I don't really know what to do, do I buy a new phone?

Hi XDA Community!
I can find information to about almost single topic, but the big problem is, i dont know where exactly to start with and the correct order of all of these steps.
What i wanna do is, like on a pc, format the whole phone, delete everything and set up a custom rom and root the phone.
My first step was trying to root it because i dont know if the root is related to the OS or to the phone kernel.....
I tried the CF-Autoroot procedure from XDA-Forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803 but i experience the same issue as many other users. When i click start the process starts, but gets stuck immediately when it comes to the imaging step. Then i get no response from my phone or Odin anymore, the bar wont process for hours.
I tried different USB ports, same result. But i can exchange data from phone OS to pc via USB without problems !
So im kind of thrown back now and i dont know what to do or where to start. Can anyone help me ?
5 Years ago i cooked a rom for my Sony Xperia X1 and put it on my phone without any problems lol, and now with Samsung i get only problems.....
