[ROOT] [TWRP] on Xiaomi MI 4i without using PC - Xiaomi Mi 4i

Here is how to root Xiaomi MI 4i on MIUI 6 / MIUI 7 Lollipop update. The best part is, you don’t have to install a custom kernel just to gain root access on your mobile. We will be using a latest release of SuperSU for rooting this mobile. You can now root MIUI6 / MIUI 7 on Xiaomi MI 4i without using PC using the tutorial below. All you need to do is to download some files which I will mention below.
NOTE: This will only work on MIUI Chinese Developer ROM. Make sure you have installed it OR get MIUI 7 Chinese devloper ROM from here .
This Root allows you to explore system apps and even modify them to your specific need. This will help you to get ported features by developers on your phone and even give you the opportunity to modify yourself. Running low on space? You can delete unnecessary system apps and gather up some useful space all with rooting your phone. This could be useful for budget Android phones that don’t come with a lot of internal storage.
Step by Step Instructions :
Step 1 : First of all you need to download and install an App from Google Play Store which is popularly known as Flashify. (Get it from here!)
NOTE: Give Root access to Flashify App using default Security App on MIUI 6/7 ROM.
Step 2 : Download TWRP and SuperSU Zip file in your mobile from here :
Mod edit: links removed (not actual download links).
Step 3 : Extract the TWRP 2.8.7.0 zip file in your mobile using file manager like ES File Manager.
NOTE: Do not extract SuperSu Zip. (It is Flashable)
Step 4 : Now Open Flashify App that you have downloaded in Step 1
Step 5 : Select Flash Image file and Choose twrp-2.8.7.0-ferrari.img file and Flash it. Now Reboot your device and you are almost done.
Step 6 : Switch off your device again and press Volume Down + Power Button simultaneously. Now you will be in TWRP Recovery Mode.
Step 7 : Tab on Install and navigate to SuperSU Zip file. Just flash it by swiping below and you are now completely done. Just Reboot your device.
That’s it! Your Xiaomi MI 4i is now rooted on Android 5.0.2 official software. Check the SuperSU app in your MIUI home. Also, verify with Root Checker App to confirm.

LOL, look at the step 1 properly, i hope you can see it.

Sorry....guys.Actually I really didn't notice it.

I have installed the Chinese developer ROM, and want to give root access to flashify but my "permission manager" keeps crashing..
I am doing something wrong I guess?

I rooted my phone when it was on Miui 6.x.x (with TWRP).
Currently on 7.5.1
Each update retains TWRP - so after each update, I simply root by booting into TWRP and flash the lastest Supersu zip file.

I've just updated to 7.5.2 via OTA. Then booted to TWRP to flash su. Rooted. Done.

Please guide me to root clearly.. Am again and again doing wrongly..

Does not help!
It does not help on MI4I MIUI 8.0.2.0

Spice mi 515/ 酷派 7295 Discussion thread

[TUT]
Hi
This thread will index everything for mi 515/7295 from rooting, cwm custom roms and every other thing.
Spice mi 515 / Coolpad 7295 is a Mediatek 6589 chispset quad core(clocked at 1.2 ghz phone) with a gigabyte of ram.
First the most important thing required for android tweaks is rooting. So I will present you the easiest method for rooting which I know(there are various others).
First install the drivers from virtual cd rom in your pc.
Enable USB debugging in your phone from developer options in setting menu.
Run kingo android root tool or vroot(not recommended as it installs chinese superuser).
Just cick on root and your phone will be automatically rooted.
Cool now your spice phone is rooted.
If the process works then ignore next line.
If Kingo android tool doesn't detects your phone then first install vroot to install the missing drivers and you can root again with kingo root tool to install english supersu.

Hello I am showing here how to flash cwm in spice mi 515/Coolpad 7295.

1. Open the Mkt Droid Tools.C check Colour on the left side down the screen, if the indicator is in yellow color then click root on the right side
down in Mtk Droid Tools screen, grant super user permission if prompted, after shell root is completed you will see green light on the left side
down in the Mtk Droid Tools screen. Next..
2. Select" Root, backup and recovery " and then "To use boot from Phone".
3. Click on the recovery and Boot button.
4. Follow the instructions that come up and select yes to create recovery.
5. Once done, it will mod the boot file and create a custom recovery for Spice Mi-515:
.
Cool...Now you can boot in recovery and flash all zips you want.

No its not the same one as you can see the different in sizes of two. I already mentioned in that thread as I ported it from my friends pc (with Windows 7) as it shows error in my pc (with Windows 8.1).
But thanks.
During my holidays I will try to port it using the manual method in ubuntu as Linux can open .img files easily.

Easily Flash Custom Recovery in Xiaomi Mi4

Hi Guys, I faced lots of problems while flashing CWM recovery then I found a way on a blog.
So all credits for this Tutorial goes to Dean of appsapkmirror.com.
Note: Before proceeding please enable USB-Debugging option
Now here is the Tutorial for Flashing Custom Recovery on MI3/MI4:
1) You need to have a Developer Rom installed on your phone.
for that download the Developer Rom from the links below. Flash it using the Updater option in your phone and select the update package.
2) After you have installed the Developer Rom you need to have custom recovery for that what you need to do the following:
Download the CWM Recovery from the links below and extract the .zip file.
Download and install the [ROOT] Rashr – Flash Tool apk file from below and install it.
After that Go to the Security app and provide Root permission to the Rashr – Flash Tool application.
Now open the Rashr- Flash Tool and grant Root Permissions asked.
After that choose “Recovery from Storage” and select the file recovery.img from the .zip you extracted earlier and flash that file.
3) That’s it now you have CWM Recovery installed as your recovery. Now you can flash any Rom you want.

Splitting this out into separate thread for better visibility. Note that if you are already on L09 B378 root, no need to update -
What is this?
Root on Nougat for the Huawei P9. It's a boot image, pre-rooted with PHH's SuperUser. Requires an unlocked bootloader.

L19: https://mega.nz/#!blgUnDpD!OAiHXwXvUfJ36OZeNBFbVkBeEocnNc-irHHo5CxMjrA
Installation:
Root install method 1 (no TWRP)
Reboot phone into bootloader mode
Download boot.img to PC and fastboot flash with: "fastboot flash boot rooted_b378_boot.img"
Reboot phone back into system
Install phh's SuperUser app from Play Store
Install JRummy's Busybox Installer and install to /vendor/xbin
Root install method 2 (with TWRP)
Download boot.img to phone (Internal Downloads or External SD)
Use OldDroid's TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/twrp-t3565703/post71244945#post71244945
Reboot into TWRP
Select "Install" -> Click "Images" -> Go to External SD and select your rooted_b378_boot.img
Flash and reboot phone back into system
Install phh's SuperUser app from Play Store
Install JRummy's Busybox Installer and install to /vendor/xbin
Note: To get AdAway working, go to Preferences, then scroll down to "Target hosts file" and set it to "custom target". Then set Custom target to "/vendor/etc/hosts"
No responsibility if this doesn't work/breaks your device/eats your cat etc. - make sure you backup your data and have a backup boot/recovery image handy

SuperSu does not currently work on the P9 with Nougat, partially due to lack of loop mount support in the kernel. Kernel sources are needed to rectify this, so I encourage people to email Huawei asking for their Nougat kernel patches.
PHH is not perfect (some apps don't work fully) but it's the best we have right now

Splitting this out into separate thread for better visibility. Note that if you are already on L09 B378 root, no need to update
What is this?
Root on Nougat for the Huawei P9. It's a boot image, pre-rooted with PHH's SuperUser. Requires an unlocked bootloader.
Installation:
Root install method 2 (with TWRP)
Download boot.img to phone (Internal Downloads or External SD)
Use OldDroid's TWRP: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/twrp-t3565703/post71244945#post71244945
Reboot into TWRP
Select "Install" -> Click "Images" -> Go to External SD and select your rooted_b378_boot.img
Flash and reboot phone back into system
Install phh's SuperUser app from Play Store
Install JRummy's Busybox Installer and install to /vendor/xbin
Note: To get AdAway working, go to Preferences, then scroll down to "Target hosts file" and set it to "custom target". Then set Custom target to "/vendor/etc/hosts"

Thank you for the guide, everything worked as described. I've got my P9 with c432 b378, rooted and TWRP installed.
By testing so far, RootChecker, AdAway (v3.2), Titanium and Reboot (to boot into TWRP or fastboot) all work fine with this phh's SuperUser
PS: It's possible to install Chainfire's SuperSU instead, and Viper4Android works too, see e.g.
