Software update for Rogers Wireless - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hey guys, for those who are with Rogers Wireless, did you get a software update today? It's 243.23mb in size and it says "shape correction for skewed photos added, improved stability - Reset, Touch...
Did anyone update theirs yet? Just wondering if this update did really improve on anything major or if it caused other issues.
Thanks.

Nobody eh?

Didn't break anything for me. Touch has mellowed down quite a bit which was hyper sensitive before.

Same here, no problem with the update.

For those of you who have taken the update; what's your build number now? I switched the CSC from Koodo to Rogers (I'm on Rogers anyways) and I'm wondering if the phone already updated or if I haven't received the update yet. Thanks!

Is it me or is it that Telus version gets updates slower?

[Q] Tethering with current version

Hi!
I'm thinking of buying a nexus s. Is it possible to tether over wifi with the current version? This would be a must have feature for me.
thx
It depends. What carrier? Do you plan on rooting?

I was thinking about buying it from amazon germany.
I just heard that in newer versions (2.3.5+) tethering is completely removed by google. Was this just a temporary thing and it was added again in the latest version?
I have the European version with 2.3.6 and it works just fine.

I think there was only one update that messed up tethering. an update has been released that fixes that issue. the phone also comes with native tethering so you should be able to tether no matter which network you're one
Easytether still works perfectly on the NS4G on 2.3.7 unrooted

They never said it was removed. It was inadvertently broken with the initial 2.3.6 update or made to function within the carrier's parameters (e.g: Sprint's check for PAM when using libsec-ril from 2.3.5).
ok thanks for the info...

So far its only the American versions that lost free tethering.

Really it's only Sprint and possibly At&t. T-Mobile can still tether without issues.

So sprint nexus s with latest update still has free tether on 3g and 4g?

I am running easytether on a stock unrooted sprint nexus s v2.3.7 tethering 4g and 3g without a problem.
Telus i9020A user with ota 2.3.6 K39F update and my tethering is fine. I think this is all carrier based. Telus doesn't charge for tethering.

What is your CSC ?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Have not accepted it yet, but I think I will. I think the CSC will be N9005OLBENA3, mine now is N9005ZKEXME, I think. all these different numbers and different names for the same things make me confused!
Build from NA6 to NB4.
Security software from Release 1 to Release 2
Baseband from NA2 to NB1
I'm looking for some improvement in the signal strength as this was lousy after the last update. Not very hopeful, however.
Still no update for me, from Belgium

The stock app doesn't support RAW so you need a 3rd part camera app apparently
I checked with a third-party app.. it says no support

According to something I read on General only one app currently supports it. Can't remember which one as it's not something I care about though
EDIT: Google'd it and found this http://phandroid.com/2015/06/22/shoot-raw-samsung-galaxy-s6/

Why don't you just switch to TELU...actually, go with Bel... I hate the Canadian market. They could care less about their customers.
Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
Chance of 5.1.1 on sept 3rd. Not official, but tweeted. Go see in general S6 Canadian thread.
Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk
Updates are rolling out currently, not sure exactly which operators but someone in the Canadian thread in General showed a 5.1.1 update. Sam Mobile should have the full firmwares available within the next few days.
"So what you want me to do 'bout that?"
It's for Rogers.

Galaxy Labs APK

Can someone pull and upload the galaxy_labs_apk. Thanks in advanced!
Right now I believe the only people who have the phone is the one guy in Finland and T-Mobile customers, and T-Mobile removed Labs.

I haven't seen it on my phone, then again I didn't really look. Let me see if I can find it and pull the apk for you.
Edit: There's definitely not Galaxy Labs on my T-Mobile S7E, what exactly does it contain? I'm assuming it's experimental features, or something similar. This is my first Samsung phone in years, so I haven't kept up with all of their stuff.
I would appreciate this as well. It's not available on Sprint either...
I get my international edge version next friday so if knowone has posted the apk i will see if i can post it as the model i get has this function

It's in the priv-app folder of that zip. So it probably won't install until without root. Maybe someone can make an update file to do in Stock recovery.

Do you, or does anyone know why some variants have it while others don't? I can confirm the T-Mobile one does not, so I would like to have experimental 'features' just to mess with in case I'm bored.

Tmobile probably disables it. Now that I know where it is ill ask the guy with the other version. It could probably be brought back with root either with an sql edit or putting it in priv-app.

To answer a couple questions without quoting - as far as I've seen, every stupid US carrier has disabled Labs for no reason. It's ridiculous. I'd love to get it back. Hopefully someone can find a way to install it.
