nexus 5 in bootloop after flashing latest supersu - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

N5 running Chroma, latest build. Downloaded the latest supersu (2.46), flashed and now its stuck in bootloop. Tried backing up but go an error in recovery.
What can i do ?

"the latest supersu (2.46)"...?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133
SuperSU v2.71, despite the URL...
Press simultaneously power & volume down, reboot into recovery (I hope you have a custom recovery - TWRP or CWM?) and install this version.
And when asking for help, more information (such as your ROM) is better than too little.

Xposed is incompatible with the ART runtime. That means it won't work on Lollipop.
This thread doesn't belong in Original development, not even in Android development.
Moved to General section.

Exactly the same happened to me .... !!!!

i followed all the steps here and my phone got stuck on boot logo.
didnt have enough time to find a proper solution except doing a factory reset delete and cache delete.
didnt work out for me so i flashed the rom again and now it's working.
is there any other way to root my device without any bootloops?

i followed your method and it kinda worked. installed recovery, system re root. installed supersu from play and it asked me to update binary. i accepted but it failed to update for some reason and asked me to reboot. i clicked reboot and got stuck at bootloop. i tried clearing dalvik and wipe data from recovery, still bootloop. so i guess it tried to modify a system file which did it wrongly and caused it to fail. either the binary isnt compatible with this rom, although it was compatible with chinese aurora 5.0.1. for now, im back to aurora. has anyone had any success rooting this? ill try tomorrow morning again. thanks

i dont know bro, it worked for me and some of members as well!
im trying some methods but i cant confirm that it will work with all of you, but try flashing this with odin download
tell me if you rooted your phone!
same problem
tell us if it worked for u
For all that couldn't succeed with the original SuperSU, use this one
Flash from recovery.
Worked for me.
Had the same problem, this is how I fixed!
I followed the instructions in OP, but was stuck in boot animation.
This is what I did to finally get root.
1. Flash CF-Autoroot through ODIN.
2. It should boot, but the SuperSu app is really outdated.
3. Update SuperSu.
4. It should ask you to update the binary.
5. Try updating through the Normal method.
6. For me it failed, and the app told me to reboot and retry.
7. I rebooted the phone, but the phone was stuck in boot animation (just like with the instructions in OP).
8. (Without wiping anything) I flashed Philz Touch recovery through Odin.
9. I downloaded SuperSu app that is flashable through recovery.
10. Rebooted and finally got root!

[SOLVED] (see edit) Can't install TWRP properly.

Hi all,
I just flashed stock rom (Cyanogen OS 12). It's the first time I installed Cyanogen OS 12 via fastboot. (might be cause of the problems..) . Now I tried to install TWRP as usually. This time... It doesn't work..
Yes, I have disabled the "Cm recovery" setting in developer options and yes my device is bootloader-unlocked.
I have installed the correct drivers and it tells me that the recovery has been installed successfully..
However, when I reboot in recovery, it leads me to Cyanogen recovery.. I don't know how this is possible.
Any ideas? I've tried a lot: plugging in cables in another order, factory reset (+ disable "update cm recovery"), and I tried many many times...
Now I'm thinking about flashing stock Kitkat, and then try to install TWRP successfully and afterwards update firmware via "TWRPable" OTAs....
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
EDIT:
I've found a way to install it properly.
I flashed TWRP using "fastboot flash recovery recovery.zip"
Then I rebooted the device using "fastboot reboot"
Then I held the power button for about 9 seconds. And then I entered the recovery using the "hardware" way. (power button + volume down). Then it finally entered in TWRP recovery. On Kitkat, I wouldn't have to hold the power button for 9 seconds.

Make sure you have supersu (flashable in zip) in your phone. In my case I have v2.16, 2.46, 2.65
Make a TWRP backup -
Background: Rooted last v7.1 with mi4i toolkit.
Now attempt to OTA update with v7.2.3.
This was my horrifying experience :
a. go OTA (updater in phone) - download the latest miui 7.2.3. After which it asks to reboot - Reboot.
b. Phone goes to TWRP automatically on reboot. After 10 mins in TWRP, it loads Mi logo, and starts to update (at the logo screen)
c. Phone bricked. Kidding - it reboots to miui logon screen (in my case)
d. Tested phone for root (launched titanium who nicely tells me that I have no root).
[note: my mistake in this step: did not check whether I've enabled USB debugging in phone]
e. Launch OTA updater again. Click on setting (top right of OTA screen) - choose the flashable supersu to 'update' (v2.46)
f. Phone reboots into TWRP again, seems to install the SU, then it reboots.
g. Seems to brick at logo screen - after 10 mins, I held down power+vol_down key and entered fastboot. Tried to use mi4i toolkit while in fastboot - failed
No matter what I do, the phone is stuck at logo startup...
Salvation:
h. Hold down power button until it reboots into TWRP. Good thing I have multiple versions of SU in my phone
i. TWRP install SU V2.46 - still brick at reboot.
j. Repeat (h and i) but with latest SU 2.65. Phone boots into miui 7.2.3. Hallelujah!
[maybe it was just the case of needing the latest version of SU. Don't know/
Lesson learnt - have a TWRP backup, in case something above really, really brick your phone.
Hope my experience helps some of you (not to brick your phone)

[Q] Going from TF101 Stock to KatKiss 6.01.....without Volume Down button

Ok, this is a pretty specific question to my weird situation. I was trying to upgrade and it failed, so I had to flash back to the Stock ICS ROM from Asus.
Is there anyway to install TWRP, so that I can then install KatKiss 6.01...but without using the Volume down button (which is broken)?
I can:
- Boot into APX mode (via power volume-up)
- Use EasyFlasher 8.3 to try to install TWRP 2.2.1 (which I was going to upgrade later)
- But after the install of TWRP via EasyFlasher , you have to immediately reboot into recovery mode. and to do that you need power and Volume Down. If I just boot normally, then my understanding is TWRP gets overwritten.
FYI: I understand there is a command level "adb reboot recovery" option. But that doesn't work right after an installation of TWRP via EasyFlasher, as it is not APX connectable at that point.
Any help, thoughts, guidance?
Nevermind. I was finally...finally....able to get it going by pushing really hard on the down volume button. I thought it was completely broken for over a year..but I guess it works if I use my nail and push to the max.
- used "easyrecovery .42" to install TWRP (old)...then installed TWRP 2.8.1 new using the new zip from TWRP itself.
- then followed the instructions from KitKat 6.0 page on this site to upgrade.
Whew...thought it was a goner for awhile.

HELP : Zenfone6 Bootlooping Constantly and Cannot Go Past TWRP Logo

Help.
I was on Android 10 and I just flashed latest 2021 MARCH full firmware.
following this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/goto/post?id=84193795
Update was fine and phone rebooted successfully.
Magisk was fine too.
I flashed Magisk afterwards (flash to inactive slot after OTA)
Then, I found out that I did not have TWRP anymore,
so I went into Bootloader mode, and via ADB, booted up TWRP 3.4.0.0
then, I flashed TWRP [twrp-3.4.0-0-I0W1D-Q-mauronofrio]
and rebooted to recovery, to see if TWRP was there...
...and now my Zenfone 6 cannot boot up anymore.
I think I flashed TWRP 3.4 and not 3.5
I really, really don't know what to do now,
ie. phone screen is black but I can briefly see the TWRP logo,
before phone goes black again.
I cannot go into Bootloader mode nor does pressing down on the power button down for 10-seconds do anything.
EDIT:
it's the same situation as this
-- https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...enfone-6-stable.3937844/page-12#post-84205699
It seems official android 11 support is broken. Twrp logo flashes for a sec and then bootloops. Any chance for quick update?
I managed to boot into the phone (by pressing VOL down + POWER).
Basically, my TWRP is corrupt or incompatible with Android 11.
So, I got to figure out how to remove TWRP completely (because I have lost root too)
MODS,
please delete this thread because i am certain now that
the cause of my bootloops, etc... were due to TWRP
not being compatible with Android 11
