I have always had stupid ads pop up on my phone every now and then. Didn't bother me much.
I did the upgrade the other day and now I'm getting these random pop ups, quite often. My phone will make a strange beep sound then vibrate. Then these pages pop up. I took screenshot of a couple & included them in here.
Are these real?? Should this be something I should be really concerned about?? How do I stop them??
I have a galaxy S6 verizon. It's stock everything. Never messed with this phone at all.
Those are completely fake, do not believe them. Just exit off the page. You can try clicking the 3 dots at the top, and checking "request desktop site" that might work to not have them show up, sometimes not though.

This, it also happens on PC so its not a virus. If need be just force close the browser. I hate click bait that just pops up this crud every time.
Go into Application Manager, scroll through the Downloaded section, and make sure there aren't any oddly named or suspicious apps installed. If you haven't installed anything then this shouldn't be a problem, but just as a precaution I would check
Download Samsung Brower and Samsung Browser ADBLOCK on Play store and be happy withot ads
Clear chrome's cache.
I've seen this multiple times before, and they even made my device vibrate really really loudly. Don't let this fool you, they are completely fake. Most of them won't let you exit out so you may have to mash the back button on your Galaxy S6, but that may take you a couple of pages back from where you left it. It's a complete hit-and-miss, but at least you'll get out of it.

Hello everybody, I usually hangout over at the HP Touchpad forums, but just got this new SG3 that's begging to get rooted.Anyways, the little number that shows up above the messaging icon on the gs3 homescreen won't go away for me.I delete all the threads and however many number of threads that I had going disappear from the messaging app, but on the home screen the number still stays there. I can reboot and it goes away.
Any help would be appreciated.I printed out the 200 page manual but haven't gone through the whole thing yet. Most of it though. Is it something that I am missing to clear the number, or is it something with the phone ? Thanks.
I would clear data for the messaging app and see if that resolves the issue.

Clearing data and cache usually fixes small nags such as this one.

Update : I figured it out.Under settings/ developer options / apps/ do not keep activities: destroy every activity as soon as the user leaves it. I had a check mark in the box. I guess it was killing the app right after I deleted the text then I when back to the home screen it would still show a number above the messages icon. Maybe it didn't clear the messages number? WhenI leave the box unchecked and go back to the home screen after I delete the messages the number would disappear above messaging icon. Weird.
Thanks for the suggestions.
One day when I was jogging, a little girl that looked scared and confused approached me. She couldn't find her mother and she asked if she could use my phone to call her. I thought to myself 'Sure, I'm helpful.' When I was waiting for her to finish her phone call, I noticed that she was swiping her finger on the screen. I was thinking to myself, 'Why does she need to scroll during a phone call?' I took my phone back and lo and behold, she was going through my pictures. I reprimanded her, telling her that she shouldn't be going through other's phones like that. I felt real bad that I had to take my phone back before she could find her mother, but what else was I supposed to do? It's not like there's an app that can do that.
That's when Avanos was born.
It's a simple phone dialer that locks the user in it so that no other app can be opened, fullscreen so that the notification bar cannot be accessed, It even closes the long home press automatically. It operates just like the built in dialer. After the person hangs up, it opens a password prompt that unlocks the phone and makes it go back to normal when the correct password is entered. I honestly think this is a revolution in Android. It can be helpful to coaches when kids that don't have phones need to call their parents, nice people who gives their phone out to others frequently, or as an everyday emergency phone.
So tell me what you guys think; I need the feedback.

Ooooh great idea!Congratulations!I wish i was an adult and could buy apps from play store.

It seems like a great idea to me. You might want to edit your post since its missing the play store link.
I tried the reviewer version. Unfortunately running cyanogenmod nightly 7/27 for the Sprint gs3 it won't lock. Press the home button it goes home, long press and task manager comes up.
Long press also still works on the menu button to bring up search and back button to kill the app. Not sure if you can fix that though.
If it gets updated for cyanogenmod would definitely pay the 99 cents.

that my magazine thing is dumb....its basically a flipboard widget....i disabled it and turned it off
Agree with the above poster. I got annoyed with it, so I disabled it and have flipboard running instead. You can use it's widget to perform much the same way if you want to, but I'd rather not waste a home screen
By the way, to disable it, long press on an empty area of a home screen, hit home screen settings and you can disable it in there.

After doing what you did, I then went into application manager and disabled it permanently

I did end of disabling it but I am still wondering why it would not load any of the sections. They all just say, "content will be available later" so can anyone help with my issue?
Edit: weirdest thing, it started working today.

I saw this issue posted on another forum by someone else with no responses. I know many of you here probably don't have the Facebook messenger app installed/enabled because of the the reports of battery drain but I figured I would try my luck and ask anyway as I have this issue as well now. If you do have the app installed, or are familiar with how it works, there is a quick reply emoticon button (default is thumbs up) to the right of the chat box which you can press once to send the emoticon (or hold the button to make it bigger). Several months ago this stopped working for me on my lollop Sprint Note 5. One day I just noticed the thumbs up icon stopped working. Pressing it makes the button depress action but then does nothing. Holding it to make the thumb bigger does nothing. Changing the emoticon default to something other than a thumb does nothing. Since the app is baked into the OS I can't completely get rid of it without root (to my knowledge). I tried deleting the cache, then the data, then "uninstalling updates," then reinstalling the updates, but the problem remains. I have submitted many feedback reports to Facebook through the app but have received no response. I don't know what else I can do at this point. Is there a way to contact Facebook and actually get a response?Any other suggestions on how I can get this to work?
Yea it doesnt work for me either

Looks like this other guy is using AT&T and has the problem as well.... I really wish I could get a response from Facebook. Is there any way to roll back the app to see which version broke it? http://forums.androidcentral.com/fa...cebook-messenger-quick-emoji-reply-error.html
In case anyone has been following this (doubtful) it looks like the issue was caused by something I did in developer options. I don't know which specific option it was that broke that function but when I turned it off and restarted the phone thumb button is now working. I will have to go through the options to see exactly what the problem one was.
I'm getting an error that says I have to reset my screen overlays and when I go to the screen, all apps eith overlays are disabled. This error won't let me do several different things, i.e. Call Sprint, open apps and more.
I called Sprint and they ackbowledged there's a bug in the note 7 O/S and they contacted Samsung about it. They said Samsung would be releasing an update soon.
Anyone else having same problem?

I had an app do this. I closed it then opened again then it asked for permissions then I never say the overlay again

This happened to me too, on set up. But I don't remember the app. I thought it had something to do with the S Pen having an over lay type set up.
Google News asks to have this disabled.

Still having issues here after replacement and have tried about everything I can find. Still same issue over and over. Any fixes?
Come to find the Samsung Plus app The Weather Channel was my culprit. But Make Sure when you download apps, if it asks for it to overlay, say no and I heard screen brightness, or something around, say no. Trust me, it took me awhile to figure out. And only app overlaying was The Weather Channel for Samsung Device.

What I have had to do was to go in and set all software that is in the "apps that can appear on top" to off. Go back to the software I am installing and grant it the permissions it is requesting. Once that is done I go back and set all the apps listed that can appear on top back to on. I hope that makes sense. A bit of a pain but it works.
