My wife have a S3 from Verizon, but is unlocked n she's using it with T-Mobile, will she loose the unlocked if I update the phone? Please help Newby here. Thx

Definitely a custom rom like Cyanogenmod if you know how to do it. If not just stick with updating.

Huawei don't release the source, and seeing as they use custom a custom CPU, it makes it very hard for modders to make roms. Hence why the rom scene is all but dead for the phone. A shame really because it's a great phone otherwise
