Was at 75% of battery before running the official monthly system update. After the process was done and restarted, it was at 69% and device so hot almost @ 68C . Also it took almost 10 mins for the whole update applying process. Is this normal? Sorry if this was a stupid question, new to android
Yes it's normal. I never cheched tmep degrees but it always get very hot after update.

I don't know why this is happening... and I am doing quite a bit to try and alleviate it.
When I first got this tablet the battery was fantastic and it maybe used 2% over night when I slept. Now in one hour it can use 3% to 4%.
I have done the whole 9 yards of flashing back to stock, factory reset, all of that.
I sent this in recently to Samsung since I was having SOD issues and told them to fix this problem too but they fixed my SOD problem but not this one.
When in the battery use area in setting android is using any where between 12% and 40% of my battery with over 10 minutes of CPU time. When I first got this tablet android OS MIGHT have used 5% on a bad day.
I am saying this is the problem in terms of my battery but any input would be appreciated.
Edit:
Here is a screen cap of my battery usage (ignore that white line on the graph that was when I flashed LA3 back on to the Tab)
Having been really impressive so far, my battery life appears to have dropped drastically over the last week or so. Previously my battery would comfortably last the whole day, I'd could even leave the house at the start of the day at about 60% and be confident it would easily last the whole day, now I leave the house on 100% and I'm down to 20-30% by the time I'm home from work. In particular, whenever I'm down to 14% my phone seems to drop pretty much instantly to 8% .
I can't think of anything I'm doing differently, only thing that comes to mind is I updated my phone via my computer a few weeks ago but no idea if that's connected to the problem. Only thing which is showing up as significant on Battery Usage is Screen at 46% , then just a bunch of apps around 9%.
Any ideas?

I got my Z3 (6653) at the end of Jan and it was great, and just like you things suddenly turned bad after an update. Aside from the battery drain, Play Store wasn't responsive at all, wouldn't install apps, the device ran really hot, and I had intermittent crashes.
I backed up my data, downgraded my firmware to a 93 version, restored the backup and it returned to the cool, long-battery phone I bought. I won't be upgrading to Lollipop.
Here's how you downgrade FW:

OK so back in June I did the security update and instantly my battery life went to crap. wiped and reloaded twice, nothing helped. We're talking it is draining 8-10% per hour with no use, just idling.
About a week later for no reason, it went back to normal battery drain.
Yesterday I installed the most recent security update and the same thing happened. Lost 50% of battery in 6 hours while the phone sat on the nightstand with no use. No app updates, and no other changes have occurred. About to wipe and reload again.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Let the phone settle after flashing a new ROM or kernel by 3-4 full charge and discharge cycles.

I have two Pixel 2's and have experienced the same as you on one of them. As far as I can figure, the effected unit must of had a minor corruption or a left over artifact due to the method used to update. Like many on here, I delete the -w ( wipe funtion) out of the update script. I believe that this allows for an opportunity for this to happen. I did eventually do a full reset/ wipe, reloaded from scratch, and resolved the drain issue.
The full reset appears to be the best option and wish you luck on your resolution.
Hi everyone,
I don't know why, since a few days ago. battery lost around 3% in a minute without use when is full recharged, after that the perfomance is great, but I don't understand why that happened.
I reset the phone and reinstall ROM 10.0.2 for other reasons, but it's still happened.
Any idea?
Happening the same with me. Although with usage, I get good SOT, around 6-7 hours. But it's weird how fast it goes down from 100 to 90ish something, but it's alright after that.
I am installing LineageOS on a S10e and it's going unbelievably slowly. It must have been close to 30 minutes and it's only at 22%.
I'm sure this is not normal, but does anyone have an idea what could be wrong here?
Every other phone I ever flashed was done in like 30 seconds max.
