[Q] fingerprint from lockscreen

This is probably a stupid question but once my phone locks and I wake it up there's a padlock that requires me to swipe outside its circle before it will unlock by reading my fingerprint to unlock as if I have swipe AND fingerprint as my lock settings....
Anyone else having this issue? I've been messing with settings all night and can't figure it out lol.
Thanks!
Mine works just fine. Push home button and leave finger there for fingerprint identification.

Sounds like you have Smart Lock enabled. If you swipe in the middle of the screen instead of the lock icon, does it unlock the phone without having to use your fingerprint? That is how mine is set up with Smart Lock, but if I am away from a trusted location, I have to place my finger on the scanner instead of swiping the screen. When at a trusted location, if you want to lock your phone, you have to swipe the lock icon for it to ask for your fingerprint.
It was because I had trusted devices nearby.

Hm. I just turned off smart lock instead.
If I swiped the padlock, I'd have to THEN do the fingerprint.
Any idea on where this double lock issue is coming from?

Swipe in the middle of the screen instead of the padlock. Swiping the Padlock tells the Smart Lock feature that even though you are near a trusted device or place, that you still want to require a fingerprint to unlock the device. It's useful if you are having a party or something at a trusted location and want extra security. You shouldn't see the Padlock if you turned off Smart Lock, if you still do, maybe try to reboot?

Did someone say party?
I enabled smart lock and have my home as a trusted location. When I open the phone with the power button or a short press on the home key, I don't see a padlock, just the usual lock screen saying use fingerprint to unlock. I open maps and it sees my location as home, am I missing something?

Mine was doing that too when I just put in my address from Google Maps. I had to select "Add a Trusted Place" when I was at my house. When I did that, it pulled up a map and put a large circle around my location. As long as I am in that circle, it works perfectly. I never was able to get it to work using just my address.

Thanks. I was at a friends today, added his location to trusted locations and it worked like a charm. I got home and tried to delete my "home" as a trusted location but it wouldn't let me remove it, only edit or turn off the location. Anyway, I turned it off, then back on.....edited it, and re-chose it from Google Maps. After all the fiddling, one of them worked because it's now "all good in the hood"....

Lock screen issues

I am running a stock un-rooted note 5 . my issue is that I have to Swipe up on the lock Screen and use the fingerprint to unlock but I only want to use the fingerprint . Any idea HOW to do this?
Please search next time. You have smart lock activated. If you have a lock icon on you lock screen, your phone is not secure. Just swipe anywhere but from that icon and your phone unlocks. If you swipe from the lock icon, then you are securing it for the next time you turn the screen on. To change the smart lock setting, go to settings > lock screen and security>secure lock settings> smart lock.
The thing is I already searched and could not find anything on this. Also smart lock is not turned on. If I wipe it's either use finger print or pin if it can't read my print after a few tries. My phone will not unlock from just a swipe it has to be a pin or password. I don't want to swipe at all but just use a finger print.
I figured it out the thread can be closed.

I'm having this same issue. What was the solution?

Screen off and lock PIN Bug

Hi all,
I've always used the application "Screen off and lock" to quickly turn off my Z5 without pressing the side lock button. My button works fine I just find this to be quicker.
However now with marshmallow after I lock the phone using the application, when I wake it up again it won't unlock with my fingerprint, it forces me to unlock the phone with with my pin. It vibrates as if my fingerprint is accepted, but it won't unlock beyond the pin screen.
If I lock the phone normally by pressing the side lock button it will unlock with my fingerprint like normal.
I've tried multiple applications that do the same thing and have made sure to give them the lock permission but I keep running into the same pin screen issue.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Don't use the fingerprint icon, it locks your phone so it requires pin to unlock, you can slide to unlock as previously, or just use the power button to lock screen, then you can unlock with the fingerprint sensor with exception of first boot where you are forced to use pin first time unlock.
Don't quite understand maybe what you are trying to explain, to wake phone you have to push the button, IMO it is faster to just hold your thumb there for a second longer for unlock. Also not sure this is a bug

So when I use this application
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&hl=en
to lock my Z5, when I wake it back up it won't unlock with my fingerprint it keeps asking for my pin.
But when I lock it with the lock button then wake it up it accepts my fingerprint instantly.

Sorry now I am with you, same issue here. Although it would seem the app is not compatible with the 6.0 fingerprint framework, because it doesn't work on pretty much any phone from what I can tell
same here.. i guess it's a bug and we need to wait for the next update that includes Stamina Mode perhaps?
Also for me it's a bug. With lock screen program the fingerprint sensor does not unlock the phone. The fingerprint sensor works only with using a button lock.
I face the same issue with Tasker and Nova Launcher. Worked fine on 5.1.1.
me too
+1 for me too

There's a ticket in Google Android about this, it's the same in Nexus phones. You have workarounds if rooted.
all screen lock apps are not compatible with Marshmallow yet - it requires to use the back up pin/pattern after using the fingerprint . Though, if you uninstall the app - the fingerprint will work without using the pin anymore T_T
I use gravitybox shortcut to sleep the phone. It work.

EMUI 10 Smart Unlock Odd Behaviour

So, I have just upgraded to EMUI 10 today and became extremely frustrated when I accidentally turned Smart Lock on (I have a GT2 smartwatch). I have face unlock set to "direct unlock" without having to swipe up, but with Smart Lock turned on it forces you to swipe up regardless. So, I turned off Smart Lock in settings > Biometrics & Password; however, the phone was still requiring me to swipe up with face recognition. The phone would also say "Smart Lock successful. Swipe up to unlock". Very frustrating because the joy of face unlock is that it's fast and you don't have to touch the screen to unlock. It just unlocks.
I tried reseting all my phone settings and starting from scratch, but that didn't work. What did seem to work, though, was going into settings > search > "trusted agents" > Smart Unlock > toggle switch off. That worked right away. For some reason turning off Smart Lock under Biometrics & Password didn't do it for me.
I just wanted to put this out there for anyone, and for myself for future reference in case this happens again and I forget. Marijuana is legal in Canada, so my memory isn't quite what it used to be. lol

Question Smart Lock and Face Recognition disabled after a few hours?

I have configured my Tab7 FE for face recognition and Smart Lock at the location of my home.
They work fine in the setup, and the tablet will unlock with a swipe for a while - maybe an hour or two - at my home location based on Smart Lock. The face recognition also works in this time period.
However after sitting for more than a few hours, both Smart Lock and Face Recognition seem to become disabled. After touching the power button to wake, I see the notifications and a lock icon at the top. Any swipe brings up the pattern lock.
The only way to access the tablet is with the pattern unlock.
I cannot find any setting for "Disable Smart Lock and Face Recognition after n hours".
The current behavior eliminates most of the benefit of Smart Lock and Face Recognition.
Can anyone with a Tab7 FE using Smart Lock confirm that Smart Lock works for more than a few hours for you?
