I’m looking for the CPU temp in Galaxy S7.
Anybody know what are the values in green and red box in the pic attached signify?
This pic is from AIDA64/CPUZ
The red must be CPU cores, or at least related to that. Have no idea about the green one.

Wherever I see in the forums people only talk about the value in green box and they think that device is relatively cooler even under heavy load. But gotta say man the device heats up worse than my G4 even in minor load when referring to the values in the red box as you said. I wanna know is there something up with my device alone. What does you CPU Temp. reading after about 15 mins of heavy game session like with 'NFS No Limits' in your device in AIDA64? PLease post a screenshot
I don't play games on the phone. I tried a few just to make sure the phone is OK when gaming but in 5 minutes I got bored.
My phone gets hot, 75 Celsius when updating several apps, or right after an OTA.
I think this is normal, as I changed the first phone ( display issue ) and both reached the same temperatures in similar situations.

Oh! Thanks for the reply. This is the first time using glass/metal phone, maybe that's why I'm very sensitive to this problem. Is that a S7(flat)? Never had seen anything above 60C.
Yes, simple s7, not edge.
One time got very hot in my pocket, for no apparent reason.
But in battery stats I noticed that Google services percentages increased from 6 to 16, in about 20 minutes. This happens also on g4, about once or twice a week. It lasts from 10 minutes to a half hour, or I restart the phone and no more issues for a while.
It's hard to catch the s7 above 70 Celsius, I guess the cooling system does it's job really fast. We need an app to monitor and record temperature changes in the background. The only one I know about is CPU temp, but is not showing real CPU temperatures, it's fake.

Got the same situation (temp around 65-70 degrees) especially when updating apps by play store. Its getting hot on the back near the camera. But when updating is done temperatures are very fast dropping to 30-40 degrees. I think it's normal for this kind of device, made from glass and metal. Would be greatful for more observations from you guys. Cheers.

Yeah, Most app in the place store aren't able to read the actual temperature from the S7. Maximum I've seen with those are 38C in ~20 min session of gaming. As I said haven't seen S7 anywhere near 70C but near 61C in AIDA64 but after ~20 min session of gaming. It does take about 5 mins to completely cool down. Don't know it's normal. Is it!?

As you can see from all the below linked videos, the temperature never crosses 40C in any testing under heavy load. But how can we get 60C, 70C and all. They are even saying device isn't much hot. How is that even posssible?

I have no idea what and how they tested, the fact is that mine got very hot a few times. I only check temps when I feel the phone hot, and that was only when updating some apps, right after the OTA restart.
The temps from a gun are going to be lower than the core sensor reading. Always.
Is this gun any good for external testing ? I almost bought it

Seems like a local item. May not give you accurate readings but it's up to you. If you want a good one try Amazon.

Here are something based on my recent tests and findings,
The problem is when the device is under heavy load(NFS No Limits game). therm_zoneX values goes upto 61C, which I don't care if the device is still not much hot to hold in hand but it isn't. Compared to my LG G4 it gets hot soon for the same amount of load based on my tests. And makes me unpleasant of the fact that the I can't enjoy the amazing performance of gaming in this phone not even longer when compared to the HTC & LG phones I had. Even simple tasks like switching between Whatsapp and Tapatalk in the background for almost 5 min made the device unusually warm while there isn't anything else heavy running in the background. All these is considering the fact that my room temperature isn't very hot. What is your opinion?
I think the below attached images(4) will help you understand it better on the temp. variations on various tasks and where do I feel it warm/hot. I strongly believe it's unusual based on my experience in previous 5 years with various devices. Do you observe something similar. Please have a look.
PS: The NFS No Limits temp. readings were similar to someone who posted in the different thread.
Is 34°C on average/light use good?

I noticed when browsing the web that the phone quickly gets quite warm so I installed StabilityTest and TempMonitor from Play store and ran a Classic Stability Test, within 2 minutes the temp went to 55°c and after 10 min is was 59°c, anyone else having these high temps? Running on battery...

Sorry that was battery. After 15 mins, CPU was up to 55c, didn't go any higher.

I have the same issue with my HTC one S, while i'm using browser (internet, google chrome) or download something with network mode "Gsm/WCDMA auto" my phone constantly changes between HSPA and 3G connection and heating up to 45,5 C. At this time, the battery consumes 1% of every minute. This is a problem of firmware of radio module or something else?

is anybody else concerned with how hot it gets? It takes just a few minutes of browsing and playing around with apps to bring the temp from 26-28C idle to 35-40C when the entire backside gets really uncomfortably warm. did somebody have a chance to play with different units to compare if they all do this?
Yeah it gets pretty hot, but I don't think it's too much to be concerned about. I think it's just an effect of making the phone so thin and making the body out of metal that means it heats up pretty quickly. As long as it's not going over 60 degrees I wouldn't worry! And if it does, you probably won't be able to hold your phone anyway
Ugh, if there's one thing that annoys me more than anything else, it's the phone getting warm/hot.
If anyone wants to humor me and try this I'd really appreciate it. I want to get an idea of what other users phones are reporting temperature wise.
To get a good idea, if you will, download "batter monitor widget" and/or "system panel lite" from Google Play and use the browser for 5 mins and then use the XDA app for 5 mins and state what your temp is Fahrenheit. Thanks so much to those who try it.
I relocked the bootloader last night and flashed the 1.85 ruu and did all the unlocking and rooting. By the time I was done my phone showed a temp of 104. That seems too hot to me. I'm afraid that if it gets that hot regularly that the battery life will eventually take a hit.
P.S. You can also find the temp by calling *#*#4636#*#* and clicking on battery information.
After 15 minutes of playing Dungeon Hunter 2 I'm at 102.4F.
Do you want this done on wifi or cellular data? Using the cell radio will task the battery more than the wifi...
UPDATE: using cellular data on ics browser plus and xda app. After minutes of each, temp is 87 Fahrenheit. Maybe you have a dud? Mine doesn't usually get hot unless I'm playing a graphically intensive game

The hottest mine got was 86 f
Watching a movie on netflix is over 100. Seems normal to me with those temps regardless of what your doing since mobile data is active or wifi

I test mine with wifi on. I noticed it makes a difference if the room temperature is really warm i.e. no AC or fans. If it's really cool my will stay in the 80's but if it's mid day and it's like 85 outside and around 80 in the house I will notice just by browsing that it can reach about 95 almost every time.
I took one phone back already because I thought it was getting too warm but I'm on my 3rd One X now and all three have had the same temps overall so I'm thinking either I got three bad phones all with heating issues or it's normal.
I have OCD and see a psychologist and I mentioned to him about how I might be just obsessing and he told me that I WAS and to just stop thinking about it. He said that devices do get warm with use and any temp, even around 100, is normal for a smart phone because of the processing it does. He told me to take a look at his mac and see what the internal temp was and it was like 120 just after sitting idle.
I probably shouldn't have made this thread because most likely it looks like I'm just seeking reassurance, but I was curious to what other temps you guys were getting. Hopefully it would set my mind at ease.
P.S. I bothers me because we spend so much on these phones that I want one as close to perfect as I can get. If I see that I'm the only one with temps like 85-99 just from browsing for 10 mins or so then I know there is something wrong. On the other hand I wish I could just forget about it and use the phone normally.
These temps are well within the normal range. I have had the pleasure of owning about 10 phones in the last two years, all high end android phones. The heat dissipation of this phone is excellent compared to the international Galaxy S 2 HTC Infuse, Motorola Atrix and so on. Sadly there is no perfect phone but this is the closest you're going to get for now

Heat is Li-Ion's biggest enemy. You are right to be concerned. Anything over 86 degrees F is wearing down the electrolyte.
Humidity and ambient temp have a lot to do with the ability to get rid of heat. Just asking what temp a phone reaches after 5 minutes of some activity doesn't really give enough info. Ambient temp should also be posted along with results, and humidity if available. Altitude/air pressure also has an effect on getting rid of heat(should be minimal unless you are comparing sea level vs 5000 feet).

The temperature in my city is around 40°C.. But real-feel is around 42°C...Summer has just started and my phone is getting hotter than usual... However, the phone is not so hot in idle mode... Its around 31-33°C.. However, after playing few games or browsing for around 20-25 mins, my nexus s is getting hotter and hotter.. I can feel it in my hands... But still, the battery temp is showing 36-37°C only... I've never even seen 38°C on my phone... But still, I can feel the touchscreen is getting very very hot...
After opening the back cover, I began examining myself.. I noted:
The battery is not that hot
The sim area is very hot (I even started my phone without the SIM card, but same result)
The area beneath the camera and flash is also too hot..
The touchscreen itself is getting v.v hottttt.... I cannot play touch games anymore... However, the lower part of the touchscreen is absolutely normal...
When charging, the temperature doesn't goes more than 35°C... However, I can feel the back side is warmer...
2months ago, when the temp was around 30-32°C, I've never had this problem Everything was fine and running perfectly... Still now, everything runs smoothly without lags

Its normal dude. If you want to keep it cooler than don't keep the brightness too high.
One thing that can REALLY heat up my phone is playing games at 100% brightness on a hot day so try to avoid that.

No dude the same areas as you describe are the ones that can get really hot on my phone.
My i9023 gets really hot if i play games at max brightness, so now I avoid playing games.
And yes, it also gets hot in the processor area, not the battery.

Now, my phone is getting very hot while playing Asphalt 6 or even Fruit Ninja... Only the processor side (Top portion of touchscreen and its back portion) is getting hot... Battery is definitely cool (Not more than 38degree)...
What could be the problem? My processor has gone mad or what? I've even tried undervolting as well as processing speed to 800Mhz max... But overheating remains

This is absolutely true. I have Nexus S since 4 months... There was no problem at all then.. everything normal and running fine and never overheated at all no matter what i play...
This overheating problem started few days back when I tested overclocking and overvolting NS
Seem's this is the problem..
I think I have roasted the processor and it will always remain like that.. I will have to sell it soon now

Hey guys, Im new to XDA but i have a quick question for all nexus 5 owners. Okay i was just wondering if anyone else's Nexus 5 gets hot. I remember my nexus 4 would get so hot i couldn't touch it. I haven't had that kind of heat from my nexus 5, but it is there and i do notice it. It gets hot near the camera on the back, and it gets hot on the front at the top of the screen. I have a CPU temp monitor running on my device to check if my device is running to warm. I found it averages/hovers around 50 degrees celsius. When i open chrome and do some light browsing it goes up to 60 degrees. So my question is.. Is anyone else noticing their phone gets hot? And does anyone have a cpu temp monitor running and could you let me know how hot your phone is running at?

Yeah mine is warm after just 5 minutes of normal usage non-gaming situations. Not hot but warm. Its starts to get hot to the touch after 15 minutes of heavy usage (ie. Browsing, gaming, etc) . I don't know if this is worth calling Google about and having them replace it, or is everyone's phone like this and I just need to get used to it?
I gotta stop reading on this forum the more more I read about this phone its make me not want it does all the things my Galaxy Nexus does. too not while browsing the internet. Low speaker volume. No flash. Questionable battery life. Might go iPhone...smh
Chrome is the problem. Its resource heavy for no ****ing reason.
I've been using chrome and my phone doesn't work hard at all with the same amount of browsing and tabs I always have open.
So its not the phone. You can expect it to get warm when doing CPU intensive stuff. Gaming would be it. But not hot.

Okay i think it might be chrome as well. When playing temple run, my device only got to 58 celsius. But when browsing on chrome my device went up to 68 celsius. So now I'm thinking its just chrome?

As the other person stated - Chrome is a resource hog and definitely is part of it. Fully utilizing Google Now with the voice search activated (*okay Google*) can definitely do it. Try Chrome Beta, it's much better.
Does it get too hot to the point it won't charge? That what pisses me off most about my g-nex

i think its normal for the 'warm' touch at the back, it doesn't get quite as hot as the nexus4 becuase of the glass backing

my cpu is anywhere between 0C and 89C, depending what im doing with the phone. its normal to get hot, especially when doing something taxing. itll get hot, but itll cool down fast when the work is done. thats how its supposed to work. anyone complaining that device cpu temp is hot at 65C just doesnt know any better.

Lol well thats why I was asking and looking through the forums on XDA because I've never experienced a hot phone before. Im coming from the moto x which never got above 40C. That phone wasn't a snapdragon 800 though. I just wanted opinions of if it was just my phone or if everyones phone was like this. And if not should i send it in for replacement.

Lol well thats why I was asking and looking through the forums on XDA because I've never experienced a hot phone before. Im coming from the moto x which never got above 40C. That phone wasn't a snapdragon 800 though. I just wanted opinions of if it was just my phone or if everyones phone was like this. And if not should i send it in for replacement.

I know that this is BS because my note 3 which has the exact same processor never goes above 38-39 degrees Celsius even if I'm gaming for over an hour. If you think 89C is normal you're crazy.

what i see in this statement is pure ignorance. human body temperature is 37C, youre telling me that your cpu NEVER goes more than 1-2C over human body temp, even while gaming? do you live in the antarctic?
your only saving grace will be if you meant battery temperature, not cpu temperature. 39-40C would be normal then.
It's very easy to get wrong temperature readings from sensors btw. Trying to find a good app that reads them properly is not.
Parts of the phone warm up quickly but luckily the bottom bezel area does not.
I just received my GS6 like 2 weeks ago and ive obviously been using it. My question is Is it ok for the right edge of the phone to get somewhat hot and for the CPU to reach 70°C? (Checked using CPU-Z, I know CPUs are supposed to get hot but this hot on a phone?) from using apps such as snapchat or listening to music and chatting or even the camera for a few minutes? Coming from the original Galaxy S, this doesnt seem okay to me.
EDIT: It only reached 70C only once. The other times it got to the 60s.

That's definitely not good, my max temp has been around 50~ish, if I was use I'd keep a close eye on it and if it continues like that go to the store you bought it and tell there's a fault with your phone.

Ughh, my battery temps are okay around the 30s, but my CPU is kinda bad.. The idle temps are around the 40s.

Mine is around the 40s as well, it isn't necessarily bad or anything but 70s that's like overheating, idk what the max temperature is for the Galaxy S6 but I've got the feeling your coming close to it

I know right.. specially for a mobile device 70 is kinda pushing it. I'll use the device in safe mode and see if it overheats and report back.

Wasnt able to measure temperatures but it did feel pretty hot (the right edge where the power button is) after using the camera for a bit, uninstalled a few apps just in case and ran Geekbench 3 and here are my scores, and compared to other s6s its quite low

The easiest and most basic way to fix the Galaxy S6 overheating issue is to restart your Galaxy S6. Just switch off your Galaxy S6 phone. Wait for a few minutes and then turn it on again. It is quite possible that this small restart might fix the Galaxy S6 overheating issue.

Depends on your room/surrounding temperature as well! In summer when it was like 33-35°C, my cpu never fell below 45C and battery always around 28-31C idle!
I think cpu starts throttling at 80C. Try Greenifying some apps as well!

I have done that and well it's still the same.. Although i further tested and saw that my idle temps are around 35-38C

ohhhhhhh . i wish any expert will give the solution of your problem soon
Install titanium app and freeze any random rogue apps. The CPU going to 70degs is not a bad thing usually the max temp would be over 100degs. Do you have the charger plugged in and you are using the phone, and you are getting those high temperatures while doing this? If so switch to a normal charger if you want to use your phone while it's plugged in. Fast charging while bring more power/heat to your phone so be aware of that
