I'm on the latest 5.1.1. 10f. I used the TOT file for root access. I have access to the launcher and settings, but unable to figure out what to do next. I just kept getting multiple errors trying to flash your TOT file. I tried every setting to no avail.

Thanks for the new upload!

What is frp again?

I'm confused, how is this different from the other rooted tot file that tungkick created?

Yeah im successfully rooted but should I change to this new method for some reason? Also would root have anything to do with decreased battery life?

This is simply a custom tot to bypass google account activation lock. There is no reason to use this tot unless you are locked out of your phone because you forgot the Google account originally used and were locked out.

I have successfully used the bypass tot. Factory Reset the phone. It is rooted. Is it possible to flash the stock 5.1 tot so I can upgrade to Marshmallow 6.0?

But it worked for others. You are in windows right? And use letest version of 7zip. Winzip or other archive managers may not work.

Upgrade to B026 steps ( Double tap to wake-up and other improvments....)

1- You must be at b023
2- Download update zip http://pan.baidu.com/s/1sj23EZN#path=%2F%E5%8D%8E%E4%B8%BAP8max
(just get inside folder at hwouc.rar and press on download sign and then press on the white pop-up it ll download normally or by by internet download manager)
3-Copy the zip (dont extract) to a new folder with name "dload" to an root of external sd card
4-Go to setting/updater and select local update
5-Now you are in and give a another restart again after wipe cache for zero errors
Dont forget to give a thanks before run
Who has tried this so far? I presume this one is just B025 with some hotfixes? Any issues in the update process or on the firmware? Changelog?

You didn't get this OTA because it has not pushed yet, a few testers have it and it seems one of them had kindly uploaded for us to manually install.
Wiping cache sometimes helps prevent issues after flashing a new firmware. You need to hold down power up while restarting the phone to access the menu that allows this.

Double click is fantastic
I have P8 Max ... DAV-701LV100R001C199B002
I downloaded the "update.zip" file from the Google Drive link.
It was an 88.4 MB file.
I tried to update via local update as you mentioned above.
The phone restarted and the update process started.
At 3% or so it failed with a message that the update is incomplete.
The phone restarted and I am still on B002.
Is there a way to update my phone to B023 first so that I can update it to B026 then???

I got the direct link for the Nougat update now. I'm downloading. I need to find a place to upload it.
NOTE: at this point, the file is NOT flashable unlike the Verizon one. We need an experience expert to help us out. Don't waste your time downloading it.

It's not a bad upload. I had to download it using internet download manager, for some reason when downloading it through the browser the download fails.
The original file is the BIN file. I just renamed it. Let me put the file in 7zip and upload it so it's unchanged.

I have a question how are you able to download that on a pc if Samsung
will only allow connections from a specific user agent header string.
I have a packet dump of the download and I have verification from the server and the correct file size in bytes and the MD5 Hash sum. They also match yours so I can verify you and I both have the full correct file from the OTA server
What you need to do is pause the download, start package capture, resume the download.
From the PCAP, merge the Host part with the GET part. My download link is still working after 3 hours. I use Chrome to download
My link looks like this:
Code:
http://fota-secure-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/TMB/SM-G935T/nspx/360ad212968a4bf88775210654d8be20.bin?px-time=XXXXXX&px-hash=XXXXXXXXX&px-wid=XXXXXX-XXXXXX&px-wctime=2016-1

Thank you very much. I used packet capture on mine. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.greyshirts.sslcapture&hl=en
Is that the same one you used?
here is my idea on how to repair / correct the header of the zip so it may be flashable via recovery. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69874795&postcount=1002
If not then I think it can only be flashed with the fota.apk I think it does something to the zip before it flashes it.
I also did some poking around in the zip file and notice the update script is checking for the exact 6.0.1 build and flashing everything as a DIF, not as a regular update would.
I've downloaded the BIN file provided in the forum, now what should I do to install the update?!
if it helps any ive downloaded this zip file and when trying to copy it to SD Card i get a unexpected error that device may have been uplugged but any other file i try to copy works without issue, theres definetly some sort of security, ive also redownloaded file 3 times to see if it was a download issue which i now know its not
Edit: downloaded straight to sd card into FOTA folder for the hell of it tried to flash it and get 2 errors, 1. footer is wrong and 2. signature verification failed

Jesy J9S - Rugged brute, still...(two months+)

Hi!
I'm wondering if anyone here, or elsewhere, heard of someone who has sucessfully rooted and securely flashed this phone with a different ROM?
I'm still suprised that it still performs functionwise, like new after two months+ of battering and several underwater excursions with me at work on location at different construction sites, that the promised safety class of IP 69K still holds water and for a suspiciously low price...
So if anyone has a foolproof way of rooting it for
a better chance of personalizing 'The Brute'? Let me know!
Best regards, Niklas

Hi Dave136 !
Can you explain from what update exactly you picked the boot.img to flash ? From the link provided by Mr Roombag in this thread ? Cause it's a 6.0 stock version whereas the phone runs a 7.0 one...
What do you mean for your 4th step "patch in phone" ?
And why the step to copy boot.img to the phone as SP Flash Tools needs the file to be on the PC ?
Thank you to detail a little bit more !

You can sideload it using the stock recovery.

Nope. Official OTA updates need to be sideloaded via stock recovery.

As a matter of fact, I am covering a guide to sideload OTA zips as I am writing this.
But I also have a previous tutorial that includes the instructions on how to install this zip. Kindly send me a PM, and I shall share the link with you.

Thanks for the reply.
Do you know where I can get the stock recover?
Or if I flash the patched_boot.zip, will it restore the stock recovery?

1) Download the fastboot image from here: http://en.miui.com/download-333.html
2) Extract the *.tgz file and find the recovery.img in "Images" folder.

@salkollizz I have tried sideloading the OTA via ADB and the installation was aborted. Any heads up?
The process started fine and the file transfer was initiated, but after about 66 seconds, it showed me an unusual error.

Upon applying update from SD card, it couldn't mount the SD card and shows an error.

Ota from OREO december to January was about 90mb. This one is more than 1gb. is it intended to be applied in nougat?
I still didn't get an update via Ota, is this update for global or just for some region?
Sorry for my bad English
