Samsung Galaxy S7 model SM-930FD, Samsung Pay not supported? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

I recently purchased the SM-930FD but it seems that model does not currently support Samsung Pay at least not here in the USA, is there anything I can do to get it working?

You can use Android Pay either!

Yes Android Pay works

Won't it be OK to flash the firmware of the country where it's supported?

Hello,
could you please help me to find what is the difference between 930FD (supposed to be dual sim) whereas 930F is already dual sim ?
It seems there is no single sim version for the Galaxy S7, as 930F has 2 sim slot (SIM2 can accept a SD card: SIM2 or SD card).
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s7-7821.php
"microSD, up to 200 GB (dedicated slot) - single-SIM model
microSD, up to 200 GB (uses SIM 2 slot) - dual-SIM model"
It seems Gsmarena made a mistake, so could you please confirm that 930FD has 2 sim slots plus an additional microsd card slot ?
If you can please add a picture of the dedicated sd card slot (if any), I will really appreciate it. I googled a lot the web, youtube, and can't find any information about the ability to have 2 sims + 1 microsd on the 930FD S7...
Cheers,
Fred

Hi, you cannot have both sim cards and an SD card at the same time, its either 2 sims or a sim +sd card

There is a hack available for having all 3 together but it is quite risky.

you mean using heatgun to remove only the gold from simcard and glue it to back of microsd ?
a friend tried 2 times, one fail (unreadable sim), one success.

Not currently. Samsung Pay is currently only available on carrier branded phones. Samsung is supposed to be rolling out Samsung Pay in certain European countries but there is no ETA on that and it is still unknown if / when Samsung Pay will work on non-carrier branded phones anywhere.

What I've to say is The 930FD is the only dual SIM variant. 930F does not have the hardware for second SIM inside it. You can flash 930F roms to 930FD and both SIM slots would still work. Which means software-wise it's identical and is able to detect if the relevant hardware is in place.
So the second slot on the 930F is only for a microSD card.

If you want a dual SIM Samsung Pay-capable S7, your best bet might be a Singaporean model, where Samsung Pay is launching later this year, sometime in Q2 or H2, can't remember. I can recommend mobyshop.com.sg if you want to purchase, the prices are quite low at around 600 USD for the 930FD, they do international delivery too. Do most of my phone shopping from them, no problems so far.

OK, have look at this (also attached), bottom right of the picture:
http://webtrickz.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/wp-1456111785260.jpeg
If I recap: 930F and 930FD are using the same "kind" of double card slot:
- 930F is 1 SIM only and has got a "dedicated" slot for microSD card
- 930FD is having the same SIM1 slot, but slot 2 can be used by either SIM2 or SD card.
Can you please confirm that 930FD is using slot 2 for SIM2 or microSD card, but not both ?
Now I understand GSMarena description:
- microSD, up to 200 GB (dedicated slot) - single-SIM model
- microSD, up to 200 GB (uses SIM 2 slot) - dual-SIM model

Hi Fred,
Yes that's correct. FD uses a hybrid slot i.e. the second slot can be used for either a second SIM card OR a microSD card but not both.
Also you cannot take a FD tray, put 2 SIM cards and put it into an F model and expect the 2nd SIM to work (I think the tray will go in but 2nd SIM won't work since teh hardware is not present on the motherboard.).
Hope this covers your questions.
Regards,
Asanka

SD card stuck in sim Card slot - Samsung Galaxy tab 7.0 Plus

My friend has Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 plus and she is living in KSA (Saudi Arabia). Somehow she inserted SD card in sim card slot. The card stuck in the sim card slot. She gave the tab for repairing to the shop where she bought it. They removed the SD card from sim card slot and called her that the slot is damaged and they have to buy new slot which is not available alone. They have to buy the motherboard in 900 Saudi Riyal(which is very costly). She refused to change the card slot. Now my question is, is there any other cheap way to repair the sim card slot. She need to use 3G sim?
Well if your friend has god soldering skills then she can just simply take the tab apart and seek out the damaged part and proceed to fixing it. Its not that complicated if u know what your doing. I've soldered my damaged sum card slot on an old s2 before and it worked perfectly. Good luck

And another thithing 900 Riyals is most likely gonna be a used mother board. They will take your old one and fix it and resell. And the cycle goes on. I know exactly how these guys work especially if you're from Jeddah and this is share3 flysteen that we are talking about.

i think you should just find someone with a good soldering skill and some knowledge in dissembling the tab. changing the whole board because of a damaged slot seems more like the shop is just trying to rip you off.

Confused about models...

Hi guys,
I'm assuming there are total 3 intl models of HAM7?
16gb/2gb silver/black
32gb/3gb gold
Monarch
Are all versions dual sim with microsd slot?
I'm looking to buy 16gb/2gb... Does this have dual sim and microsd slot? Here is the specific place from where I intend to purchase:

Id like to know this answer too. I have the 2gb model and the other tray doesnt look like its made for another sim...
The info on the web is confusing. Does this model (2gb) support another sim???
Gold 3Gb version (TL10) is dual SIM. Black and Silver 2Gb are single SIM.
Using a second SIM stops you using an SD card. The big thing is the extra RAM. On Lollipop it runs nice

Dual Sim and Single Sim

I have a Canadian X Play, and while taking my sim out, noticed it said Sim 1. Thought it odd, so looked at the other spot. It looked like a dummy plate, so I peeled it off, and voila. It says Sim 2. Taking a quick peek inside the slot looks like it has the pins that would make contact with a second sim. I put my Sim in slot two, but it didn't pick it up. Not sure if you need to have a Sim in both slots, or maybe if it's enabled in software. I don't have a second nano sim to test. It looks like the hardware is all there. Once we get some factory images up, and some devs, it'd be interesting to see if these are all just the same device with a different tray and software.
Maybe it is disabled in software. Like a single sim build flashed.

From what I know there's three current versions of the Moto X Play.
Canadian, Europe/UK and Nordic.
The Canadian and UK ones do not have two radios, but the Nordic one does, and that one supports Dual-Sim.
The Canadian and UK ones probably still have the pins for the sim card slot though.
I'm getting my Dual-Sim one in a couple of hours, we can try and find out if there's any differences?
Makes sense about the dual radios. I was silently hoping it was simple lol.
What makes me a bit sad, is that I have to choose between using two sim cards, or one sim and one SD card

I'm impressed with the phone. I'm not a heavy user, but the battery life is very good. Especially after using a Nexus 4 for the past 2 yrs.
Even with both SIMs on, I'm getting 42-50 hrs of battery life and approx' 6:30 hrs screen on time. I'm sure I can get even more with only one SIM on.
I had a nexus 4 and battery life was pretty bad. However I struggle with battery life on all my android phones. I see people with 6 hours screen on with other devices and have no idea how even with kernel tuning I don't get near that. My Voda Smart Ultra 6 I occasionally got 5 hours screen in but then some days I got only 2 and a half. Nothing significant showing in usage either...

Which model is dual SIM? XT1562 or XT1563 or another model?
From gsmarena the XT1562 is European model (?) comes only with SS (single Sim) and has less LTE bands while XT1563 comes in both SS & DS (dual SIM) and has more LTE bands - AWS for one which is 1700/2100. I just looked this up from website so there might be more variations worldwide but if you are in NA (North America) I would make sure it's a XT1563 so you have the right bands for LTE. AFAIK the carriers in Canada are all bringing in SS units (XT1563) while the Mexican /Spanish units (also XT1563) are all DS units.
Not exactly a cut & dried answer but I hope it helps you out.
I have been more than happy with mine XT1563 SS but would have got a DS if available for same price & on shelf.

European XT1562.
That's pretty cool that Motorola left things "doable" for us enthusiasts to utilize the second SIM by flashing the right ROM.
I am fairly sure that's just a (wonderful) side effect of technically inept management
I wonder if that affects LTE bands also?

Should I buy S6? Please help me with your experience

Hello,
I am thinking about buying a €470 Samsung Galaxy S6 32GB Black Sapphire SM-G920F without simlock for my wife.
She is used to her S3 for years. The big negative with the S6 is that it has no sd card slot and dual sim..
The only different phone which she would maybe consider is a chinese phone
because of extra sd card storage and dual sim possibility.
What would you advise me to get?
Should I wait for more price cuts?
Is it currently easy to root it without tripping kn0x?
thanks a lot

Here S6 duos (g920fd) for a bit more. Opposite to older galaxies Sx, S6 at this moment really it is not necessary to root if you don't mind some advertisement and you install a clean stock firmware as Kenia (AFR). I was also worried because sd card, but with a good management for the internal memory and this microusb memory http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kingston-32...276886?hash=item5d5a51ec56:g:KkIAAOSwl9BWJhrv or this card reader http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZRXMMZQ?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00 on your key chain problem solved...

No expandable storage on dual sim variant?

I bought a 4.7 Idol 3 and just now am seeing comments about the dual-sim variant lacking expandable storage. I've been looking for more info and all spec websites (including from my country) mention it should have a MicroSD slot.
Some dual-sim phones' tray also doubles a card reader, so you can choose whether to have expandable storage or dual sim capabilities. I've been wondering if the same is true for the Idol 3.
Which is true?
The model I'm getting is 6039J-JAALBRC-1, bought in Brazil.

I don't think so...
The dual-sim slots arent cut out for the MicroSD cards, and even the software of the stock rom for the dual sim variant(in my case the Idol 3 6045K) doesnt show any ability to recognise an SD card.

Yeah, that is what I just said.
The dual sim variant doesn't support MicroSD cards.
But it does have 32GB of storage, while the single-sim ones have 16GB.
When I got this device,I kinda hoped its second sim slot would act as a MicroSD card slot (like in Meizu M2 Note),but I am pretty satisfied with Cloud storage too.

That's too bad. Lack of MicroSD suppport would be a deal breaker if I saw it earlier, but I'm going to keep the Idol 3 considering I paid such a low price for it. Hopefully I'll get used to the available ~10 GB it comes with.
Thanks for making that clear.
