I have two contracts (Vodafone + T-Mobile Business both in germany) and two devices (OPO + G3).
A couple of days ago i decided to wipe the OPO (vodafone) from lollipop and install the newer CM13 which i have run on my G3 (tmobile) a few months now.
On the new CM13 installation, i realized that i cannot connect to any messenger (hike, xmpp, threema) on the OPO (vodafone). I tried the vodafone sim in the G3 as well - same problem, no connection to any messenger.
The tmobile sim works flawlessly in both devices.
So i figured, maybe a vodafone issue and called their support, they send my a new sim card, but that did not solve the problem. With the new sim i have the exact same behavior on both devices (no connection to any messenger app).
I then completely wiped the OPO again and reverted it back to stock lollipop - same problem.
I tried different modem/radio firmwares and had different results, but no success. Whenever the sim was detected i had the exact same problem.
Btw. i can send and receive sms, and i can browse the web and get my emails with the vodafone sim.
I would be very glad if somebody could shed some light into this, as i dont know what to do any more. To me it looks like a vodafone problem as my tmobile sim works flawlessly in both devices with any firmware, but i have no idea what to tell the guys on the hotline.....
[solved]
my girlfriend figured out the problem - we had to manually set the apn from wap.vodafone.de to web.vodafone.de

For background, my device is a c500 (typhoon) and I've tried various roms (but I'm using the 6.1 one atm). I didn't have this problem with the stock ROM.
I find that, although the phone works and I can recieve text messages, I can't send them because the "text message service center" field is empty and if I enter anything in the box, it clears as soon as I leave the screen.
Also, trying to use the SIM manager (for contacts etc) returns the message "invalid or missing sim".
To me, this seems to be a semi-incompatible sim card. I've seen other phones with the same issue (eg here) so I don't think it's a specific phone/ROM issue. I've tried SDKCerts.cab and using a cab to install the network settings, neither worked.
Has anyone seen/fixed this before? Thanks.
have you tried another sim?
not sure about your operator but mine always send me a new sim if i so request for free
Hmm. I tried an O2 sim - works fine. Maybe it's because my sim is 3G (and the phone isn't)?
Here's a similar thread on modaco that comes to the same conclusion. If anyone else has the same problem, this is probably the solution.
just trying my luck, is there another solution to this issue yet, orange uk wont send me a 2g sim for anything so im stuck
UPDATE:
For information orange wont send me a 3g sim as the handset i should have is a 3g phone so they dont want to know
unfortunately I cant keep the phone as its no good to me
Hello Everyone,
I got my first android phone this weekend, a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 (not I1900G, or any other variant, just plain old I9100) which was locked to T-mobile UK.
After doing a bit of reading and trying out 3 different methods for rooting, CF-root, insecure kernel, and finally the method described here for rooting stock ICS firmware without flashing an insecure kernel by Rachmat3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
After rooting method #2 (flash insecure kernel, run S2-root on phone) I ran chainfire's [root] Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock, this didn't work, so I ran Galaxy_S Unlock and it worked. At this stage I could use my phone for calls and sms though my SIM's network provider (virgin), and I later figured out how to get virgin to send me a configuration message to set up the APN settings, and I could then use 3G data to browse the web, etc...
However, I lost root when I flashed a secure kernel, and updated the firmware to XWLP7 from the intratech list of official kernels & firmwares:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Hence why I used Rachmat3's method #3 to regain root access, which worked like a charm.
However, I then lost the ability to make calls, send SMS and the phone refused to find the virgin network! Disaster! 3G still worked fine for data, and when I tried my sim card in my old phone I could still make calls and it found the virgin network immediately. I tried my gf's virgin sim in the SGS2 and it could find the virgin network but wouldn't connect any calls, it kept saying "unable to connect, try again later".
After reading around, I suspect that this may be a modem problem, can anyone confirm or deny this? I have the modem that came with intratech's XWLP7 firmware, which I believe is XXLPS. Can anyone recommend which modem I should try?
I have a real imei number, I tried flashing the CPW version of the XWLP7 rom instead of the XEU one, no luck, I tried a few other things that I can't remember now as it's first thing in the morning at work!
Any help, suggestions, or direction would be greatly appreciated, I was almost there on my own - fell at the last hurdle!
No-one else has this problem?
I've tried my sim card in it again this evening, I am unable to select virgin or Virgin from the network providers, but all other providers are there, o2, etc...
What's perculiar, is that when I use my gf's sim, both virgin and Virgin and all other providers are present, however, even with this sim, I still cannot make calls, even though it connects to the network, what the heck!?!
I've tried using different modems, no help.
Please anyone, any ideas?
I've contacted virgin this evening, they say the imei code isn't on their blacklist, I can't contact t-mobile until tomorrow, but I will ring them tomorrow and find out if they've blacklisted the imei for some reason.
Help!!
Any ideas, anyone else had similar problems?
Plz help!
I am looking forward to anyone's help about this question!
Hi all,
Just found out that the IMEI has been listed as lost or stolen by t-mobile. In contact with original owner to try and rectify the problem.
Anyone else having this issue, it's likely the same problem, contact the original carrier and ask to check their IMEI blacklist.
On a related note, does this mean that the previous owner of every second hand phone that is sold can just ring up their old provider and blacklist that IMEI whenever they want?
Seems like a bit of a massive oversight if you ask me... Surely there must be a way to transfer ownership of the IMEI number to a new owner?
Hi folks,
This is my first post on here. I'm having a problem with my phone which I think is quite unique and I hope someone on here can help me fix it before I buy a new device.
I have a galaxy nexus (maguro) running cyaogenmod.
Previously I was running CM11 (cm-11-20141115-SNAPSHOT-M12-maguro) from the CM website and updated it to CM12.1 cm-12.1-20160719-SNAPSHOT-YOG7DAO8DL-maguro) a few weeks ago.
When I rebooted my phone it was running very slow (and getting very warm) so I did a factory reset and re-installed CM12.1.
It started working ok but I noticed that my phone was displaying 'emergency calls only' even though the network reception in the status bar was full, displaying 'H' (3g) and allowing me to connect to the internet using 3G.
Whenever I make a call it states 'Mobile network not available' and I cannot send text messages.
I tried phoning O2 and they gave me a new sim but the problem was still happening. I then tried putting my girlfriend's EE sim into the phone and I could make calls/send messages. I also went to France on holiday and could use my phone to phone/text using my O2 sim abroad. Whenever I put my O2 sim into another phone I can make calls and text.
So basically it is only when my O2 sim is specifically in the Galaxy Nexus that I cannot make calls/send texts but can still use 3g.
Oh yeah when I go to Settings>Mobile Network Settings>Network Operators the following available networks are shown:
O2-UK
T-Mobile UK
3 UK
vodafone UK
Orange
When I select O2-UK is states 'cannot connect at this time. Please try again later'
I've tried re-installing the older version of CM11 and today I tried wiping the entire phone (internal sd card etc) and it is still happening. Can anyone help? Is there something else I can wipe, or setting I can change?
Thanks in advance
Tl;dr: OPO refuses to connect to my default home network, instead chooses roaming. Cannot text or call and data will not work on roaming (they used to).
BACKSTORY
Hello, my OPO was working almost perfectly for 2 years without any significant damage like water or drops. Then, in November of 2016, I went on a trip to Europe for a few months (I live in Canada), and used my OPO occasionally there, by roaming when I needed to make calls. (Used my regular cell plan with an extra worldwide option)
When I got back to Canada, I had a stopover flight in Toronto, where I was able to connect to my HOME network and make a call and some texts. Also used some data during this time. Then, I flew the rest of the way to Vancouver. There, I was able to connect to my HOME network and send some texts and use data for about an hour. That was at the end of February.
THE PROBLEM
Since then (last 1.5 months) I have been unable to connect to my HOME network. My OPO will only connect to the AWAY/ROAMING network, even when I go into Network Operators and manually force HOME - it just says it's unable to connect at this time.
When connected to AWAY, I typically can not do anything. However, sometimes, I will be able to receive calls, and send and receive texts. No data, and no sending calls. Before this whole problem started, I was usually able to call and text and use data on AWAY.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED
Choosing different Network Operators, different Network Types (WIND is WCDMA). Problem persists.
Deleting and creating new APNs from the current information on carrier's site. Problem persists.
Ensure that my OPO can read the IMEI. It does
Went to carrier (WIND, aka Freedom Mobile) and tried the store's demo SIM that uses an alternate account. Problem persists.
Carrier tried my SIM in their own phone. Worked on that phone.
Carrier gave me a new SIM for my account.Problem persists.
Reset my OPO to factory defaults, including apps and data. Problem persists.
Format my OPO and flashed different ROMs (including various CM and stock releases from KitKat to Nougat). Problem persists.
Flashed different modems available for OPO from the various original CM11 ROMS, as well as one from a CM12 ROM. Problem persists.
Tried the SIM card from a friend's phone on a different carrier (Virgin Mobile in Canada).Problem persists.
Removed my StyleSwap cover and ensured antennas and antenna pins were clean and making contact. Problem persists.
Tested Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS to ensure other antennas were working. They are functioning
Use online tool to see if IMEI is blacklisted. It is not, and problem persists.
Took my OPO with me when travelling to various parts of British Columbia over 100KM away to test different cell masts. Problem persists.
CONCLUSION
That is as much detail as I can think of. I would be happy to provide more if it may help. I already had a chat with OnePlus's live support and email, and was told I would need a repair, which would cost a few hundred dollars.
I am also thinking about buying a used/broken OPO for cheap and swap the motherboard, however there are not many available near me right now, and this also carries some risks akin to buying stolen phones.
I am pretty tech savvy, so feel free to go into as much detail as you can.
Thank you for any and all the help you are able to give!
Hi guys!
Did someone of you noticed some problems with using two sim-cards? When i install the second sim card i am constantly getting problems with loosing cellular network connection. There is something strange going on...I tested the new sim card on the other phone and its working normally (so its not the problem with the sim card). Is there maybe a solution to this problem?
Thanks!
Hi guys! As a last resort i did a factory reset of the phone. Its all working now as it should! Strange. Must have been some software bug.
I have been using dual Sims since Nov 2019. I don't have any problems with it so far.
Dual SIM not reachable
Yes, I have constant problems, and I think it's since April or May update.
I use two sims, and sim A constantly keeps "telling" the caller, that "The user is in another call and can't be reached". Then I get an sms with "missed call".
Outgoing calls take lots of seconds to connect.
I've tried shifting the two sims, problem with the same (!) sim card. You'd think this is a sim A problem.... I got a new sim from the "A" operator. Same problem.
Using just one sim in the phone, everything works well, regardless of which, even sim A works fine.
In any phone, sim A works fine by itself. There's something with the software or some setting in the Xiaomi that messes this up.
Support at operator blames the phone.
Support at Xiaomi blames the sim.
