Updating problem

Hi
my phone was rooted a month ago. i really wasn't cool with it, so i flashed the stock recovery and turned the phone into relocked state.
now i wanna install the update my phone received. but when i press install, it goes to fastboot screen with title of "security update" and nothing happens.
What should i do ?

hello, i have same issue, i had rooted my device (i have no option because i have to fix my frequency network error by selecting "USA BAND"),..
I got notification that "available software update: 2.33.707.6, so i download it, but when im installing with TWRP, the result is failed,. Maybe anyone have clue or solution?

thanks for reply. how do i get the exact stock recovery for my phone ? cause i searched for it and couldn't a compatible stock recovery.

Search a Ota zip with your Rom version the recovery file is in this ota ...extract the ota.zip in it is a firmware.zip extract this zip too and you find recovery.img

When you have a mec_ul_emea single sim with one of this cid s htc_001, htc_j15,htc_a07 or htc_102 you can use it

hi. i finally found a compatible recovery img. but i have another problem. as i mentioned before, i locked bootloader myself again right after flashing a stock rom (which i guess wasn't compatible with my phone). now when i try to flash the stock rom, it says i have to unlock bootloader. when i try too unlock it and press the final button, it goes to a page with title of "entering recovery" and i get stock there forever. so i just get my phone restart and come back to life. do u have any idea why it stocks there ? how to solve it ?

ok guys ... now i faced a very bad problem
i flashed the recovery file. everything was good. then i tried updating software from "about phone" section. update was going well. then phone tried to boot... now it's frozen at htc logo screen.... what should i do ?
no one is awake right now ? seriously ?

Flash a clean twrp backup install a clean twrp backup of your Rom wipe after install dalvic and cache and then install the stock recovery must the same recovery as your Rom and update

i have custom recovery twrp but flash stock recovery from this site : snoopy-haeckers.jimdo dot com
build number 2.34.401.6 but go to bootloader build number is 2.34.401.9
i flash stock recovery 2.34.401.6 because not found stock recovery 2.34.401.9
after flash stock recovery then update ota , but after reboot that is stop to htc logo

i can not s-off whit sunshine because i can not buy gift card from iran

Install twrp restore clean twrp backup 5.0.2 then Flash stock recovery again and then boot up the phone and test again install ota

Doesn't install when you will root your phone download supersu zip 2.65 put it on SD card and install it with twrp

install backup and boot up htc android 5.0.2. it is build number 2.34.401.6 but when go to bootloader buil number is 2.34.401.9 !!

The Problem is your hboot you have update the 2.34.401.9 OTa the new hboot have install with it if you have doesn't s-off you don't can change this in bootloader

without sunshine can i s-off? Is there another way without sunshine?
can i update to android6 with ruu with pc ?

No at the moment only sunshine work and have you test update with the restored backup install stock recovery and test it ...a Android 6 ruu not exist at the moment

relouck the first time and then I flash Recovery 2.34.401.9
launch htc then go to "system update" and i was easily update it
my phone is android 6.0.1 now :laugh:

can someone help me with confirming these steps for upgrading to android 6.0 please?
install stock recovery (version 2.34.401.6)
lock the bootloader (that couse factory reset)
use update service for downloading and installing the latest ota
next unlock and root the device again
btw,
device: htc one e8 sinle sim
software number: 2.34.401.6
bootloader: unlocked
root: yes
recovery: TWRP touch recovery

Hiya X1111,
I don't think you need to relock the bootloader but yes to installing stock and the wait for the OTA updates - see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-e8/development/marshmallow-twrp-htc-e8-m8sw-mecdugl-t3340936 but it different from your phone but I think the procedure is pretty much the same.
I did exactly that but installing twrp to get backups after each OTA but you should be able to get the OTAs after stock.
Just watchout that there may be a couple of OTAs and yes after the update to MM just install twrp and root.

You must install a clean Rom or twrp backup...also stock Android 5 then flash the stock recovery Android 5 then relock bootloader make factory reset...make a backup from you files before you do everything ..after all steps start your phone go to update and let it do

I have do this steps before I do this I have backup all app data with helium backup from playstore and after installing Android 6 I have restored any files and it works.I have tested when my phone was rooted I am not found a way to update it without a clean Rom

Hey man I doesn't have the same phone I have m8sx the German version and because of this I doesn't can give you pictures you can read many tutorials it's in German you can translate it with Google ....the downloads on this page are doesn't work on your phone snoopy-haeckers.jimdo.com hope it help

How can I downgrade my devices?

Hi to all,
I Have an HTC One E8 ( M8Sn) and i would like to revert back to Android 4.4
Currently I have the latest update available installed, but it's working very bad! The device seam go on overheating , sometimes I have freeze and some app make a crash! It's vary frustrating because I love this phne, but after upgrade doesn't works properly!
Actually I'm fully stocked, recovery s-on etc, How can i flash a RUU .zip or something like that to a previous version?

Done'it, finally my HTC One E8 is back.
I have to say that is amazing fast with the 4.4 compared to the 6.0.
Somebody else got problem with 6.0 ?

How to solve,main version is older problem?

as it is for my best friend i dont own this device and i need someone to test i will upload it here and wait for your reports btw camera wont work for 100% since im build for m8 with a few e8 specific files added

tried om M8sb (Dual SIM), Installed the rom didnt boot kept taking me to recovery again and again. tried after flashing the Kernel and the phone was stuck on the boot animation for about 25 minutes, after 25 minutes i quit waiting

The rom won't install on my single sim MECUL. I get an "error 7" in TWRP. Is it intended to be dual sim only?

can you port or build slim 7 rom for htc e8? e8 and m8 are like other except camera and kernel.if you can port slim7 from m8 to e8 would be great.slim roms is best aosp base rom
