Will Marshmallow on the Verizon S6 get root? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Question's in the title.

Any real (not fake) psychics care to answer this person's question?
Sent from my NCC-1701 using Tapatalk.

I sense yes.

Fingers crossed this new update comes with some vulnerabilities to root.

I seriously doubt it considering the changes that have been made on the security level of software in Marshmallow

Might trade for G2

So I have the G2 and I have a buddy of mine offering to trade it for a 32GB N5. While I know that its basically the same phone I am more encouraged to simply because I feel that the N5 is more future proof.
Am I wrong for this ? Or should I keep it.

You should change the title to "Might Trade for the Nexus 5".
And to answer your question, yes the Nexus 5 should be more future proof than the G2.

I have changed the title I have offers for both white and black versions I've been reading on some new N5 hardware is there anything I should be looking for when choosing between old and new hardware?

The hardware changes include: larger speaker grills and sturdier buttons. Get the version with the newest hardware. You can tell if it's the newer version if the phone's first three serial numbers are above 311 (312, etc).
There's also another way by looking at the HW Version in the fastboot mode. REV_12 or higher should all have the latest hardware revisions.
Fyi, the G2's base cost (~$669.00 unlocked on ebay) is much greater than the Nexus' base cost ($400 unlocked off the play store). Keep that in mind before trading.
The G2 has a better camera and battery.
I almost got one but found a good deal on a Nexus 5.

I personally would go with the Nexus 5 because of official software updates and the day development community that continues to grow!
If you don't care much about development and timely/official updates from google then I'd say stick with the G2.

I would trade the G2 for nexus 5 and sell the g2 and rebuy nexus 5 and you would probably make a profit

I'm not dealing with carriers anymore. I know it's att's fault the S4 is locked down, but I don't care. It hurts Samsungs reputation to me too. That being said I'm only going with unlocked phones bought from the manufacturer now. My s4 is holding up and poor, so it might be the next version of the moto g, maybe the next moto x, or most likely the nexus 6 in the fall.
Not the place to ask but I'll answer anyway. If you are asking if the s5's bootloader is locked, the answer is yes. All s5's bought from carriers have them locked. The m8 gpe might be a good option if you want an aosp-esque experience

Is Verizon ever going to update

Perfectly good phone. Still no lollipop for it yet. Look of things. This project just fell right off the table. Like the Verizon 12.2 pro tablet.. My day with Samsung products about to come to end.. HTC was the best device I ever owned. Nexus are made way to cheap and over priced.
I'm starting to feel the same way about this note edge.... But I disagree with the nexus stuff, ever since before the nexus 6 they were very inexpensive. Back when I was strictly HTC, they sucked at releasing updates.
I am disappointed with Verizon.. other Note Edge owners on other networks have received lollipop.
Trust me do not get the lollipop.

^^^^what he said..
From what I've heard from others I don't think I want lollipop now. If this phone could be rooted and unlocked then I would consider a lollipop rom.

I've been with an android phone since day one (currently on my 7th Android phone.. plus 4 different Tablets).. and everytime Google has an update you hear folks saying Don't upgrade.. don't upgrade. I'm running Lollipop on a tablet that came with Honeycomb 3.0 and it works well.
Galaxy Note 4 Android 5.1 Lollipop update incoming in the next two weeks:

I doubt its on there list. The edge is know as a tablet in Sammy eyes. S6 and note 4 is the bread for sammy right now. Not even there s6 edge getting any attention.

Lollipop isn't bad
Worked fine on my Note 4. The complaints were from people who didn't clear cache or factory reset after the update. Other than the new camera interface and app complaints, it is a worthwhile update.
I'm so ready for an update, I'm a little disappointed on how sluggish this phone is and I still have 12 gig free space

yeah i check for updates everyday and get pissed off all over again
Just spoke with a rep from Samsung
I called again to complain to Verizon about the lack of updates to the Noted Edge. She called Samsung as if to push the blame off on them as to why the release is not available. The Rep said that it was Verizon that hasn't set a release date. She informed me that if I take my phone to a Best Buy and have someone from their Samsung experience update it for me. She said they have a tool to force the update. Is this true? has anyone done this? Or is she full of it?
I'd also like to know if this is true? If so, I'll be there later today doing it.

If how long it took for the Droid Turbo to get Lollipop is any indication...
You will probably get your tax refund back (USA) before the Note 5 gets Marshmallow.
The Note 6 may be even available for preorder before then!
In other words, don't hold your breath. That would be very bad for you!
Probably when Android 7.0 Nicotine comes out.
I'm Thinking when the Note Edge 2 comes out or the Note 6

Well.... Right about Samsung pay being an OTA. But the OTA is already out with Samsung pay. mm will be early next year latest and as early as a month away from what all sources are saying. I personally can't wait for mm

Might have been a mistake. Both Samsung and Verizon have said OTA. So untill that OTA I don't even expect it in the store. The Samsung website said when OTA is available it will be built into the system on update

From the videos I've seen so far the doze feature will be nice to have to help with battery life on the Note 5. I will not hold my breath for a quick roll out of MM.

I'm looking to see if marshmallow comes to my note 3. I'm still on KitKat 4.4.2. I haven't made the jump to lolipop yet. I might skip Lolipop and forge ahead with marshmallow.

Not Sprint's fault this time. Europe only received the update from Samsung this week. Clearly the fault lies with Samsung dragging its feet and trying to force us to upgrade to the S7 (which for me is not going to happen as this will be my last Samsung)

I honestly haven't decided. I may wait for the next Nexus. Was seriously considering the G5 but don't think I can deal with not having an app drawer. All apps on home screens is one of the reasons I've never been fond of ios/iPhone

I too want the G5. I like the whole module concept, especially the camera one that extends battery. I'm on the fence though because I'm intrigued by the S7 Edge but at the same time wondering about the next Note lineup up and hoping there's a new version of my Note Edge as this thing is still my favorite phone to date. It really sucks Samsung dragging their feet on marshmallow and is the big reason why I feel like switching to another manufacturer.
