Display issue with S7?! - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi, I bought S7 two week ago, and I notice that my phone have some issue with display on dark gray color, for example when you close all tabs in Chrome browser (Merge tabs and apps and home page have to be turned off). Problem is uneven color, like in the picture below. In real isn't that noticeable as on picture, but I can see it. So I just want to ask if anyone have similar issue an what do yu think about this?

Faulty screen.

i also noticed that i have some gray or black dimmed spots on my screen ...i had similar problem with xperia z5 but with the z5 i had white spots instead grey ones LOL looks like these days buying a phone is like lottery

Got the same problem with my first 2 units, I only got an acceptable screen uniformity on the 3rd unit. You should send it back to have it replaced. Screen uniformity on gray and white backgrounds is a known issue with some amoled screen especially with the high density panels.

I live in Serbia, and here is very hard to get replacement unit. And in 20 days I have to move to Malta and I don't have time to replace phone even if they want. But, I'm not only with this issue and isn't that terebel... but I compared it with my previously S6 and he didn't have this problem...

Display problem/yellow tint/hue

Hi guys! My xperia z3 after 2 months of using, the screen become a bit warmer comparing to my friends xperia z3 and his display seems better to me . The screen takes also a bit time to procces the black colors. i did a frimware re.-instaling and im still facing thes problems. My white balance setting is on 0 and x-reality and vivid settings are off. My question is what is the problem with the phone? do anyone facing same problem?
same issue
I'm hoping to fix this on my z3. actually, with my z3 I'm just noticing a horizontal yellow stripe about an eighth of an inch up from the bottom of my screen.
Guys, your screen issues can't be fixed via software. Go and get a replacement or get it repaired.

z5 dual E6683 yellow/warm display when brightness is below 80%

hey guys... ive bought a dual sim version of the xperia z5 about 5 days ago. upon the boot screen, the display was cool as it should be... but when the initial startup was completed and the brightness of the display lowered,i noticed that the screen had an extremely noticeable yellow color
i changed the white balance of the green and blue by 130 and 187 approx respectively so that i could get a relative white display at low brightness
being a previous owner of a z1 which had a yellow hue at edges i knew that my z5 display had a problem
i also had a z3 with no display issues which retained a 'white' color when brightness was reduced
as i cant take a picture of my screen atm i searched for pics of nexus 5x with this issue 'http://i.imgur.com/MPG4kTc.jpg' on the left is a 5x and right a z3. my display colour is even warmer than the 5x in this pic
if any of you guys had a jailbroken ios device with flux, the color of my display is near the warmest choice available
as a small resume, my z5 display becomes more yellowish as he brightness is reduced
do any of you guys have experienced this problem??? and should i seek for another unit ?
Replace the phone for sure.
Sony use different screen for each unit as always, that's why they included the white balance menu cause they know how crap is the screen they use.
Everyday i have to tweak the white balance cause of colors change.

Bad viewing angle on Galaxy S7

Hello everybody.
I received the exynos galaxy S7 few days ago. The experience with it is very good so far but there is an annoying thing about it. As I said in the title, the viewing angle are bad.
Indeed, for example when the background is white (rather yellow even with my display in basic mode), the colors change when I incline the smartphone for example at the beginning the yellow tint (normally white) tends to white then to a chameleon tint ( green, red, blue, purple) tint very fast. I know it can be normal with extreme viewing angles but in my case, it happens when I slightly incline the smartphone but I can still distinguish the content displayed though.
My brother owns a galaxy s7 edge and he doesn't experience this issue.
Do you experience the same problem? Do you think my device is defective?
Thanks.
I,
My device gets blue/green tint when I slightly incline it too... it's my first Samsung and amoled screen, so I don't know if it's ok, but I find it very disturbing...
Get a replacement if you can. I had a blue tint on white at very small angles on my first phone, the second one is better, not perfect but I can live with it.

I had a replacement this week-end and... the problem is still there !
Ok, I admit that it is less "agressive", but the screen still gets blue when inclined (even a little bit).
Maybe I'm not familiar with AMOLED screens (I've read it's typical), but I find it very annoying...
It's typical. Most people that continually spout off about how great AMOLED screens are and how they're so superior to LCDs conveniently ignore issues like this. The truth is, LCDs have some issues, like weak blacks if you're in a dark environment, but AMOLED screens usually have even more issues than LCDs, especially when it comes to displaying white and shades of gray.

Two Edges - two different displays - difference in white and color

Strange thing.
Today I decied to compare the displays of my two Edges - one black bought right after launch, the second one white bought few days ago. Guess what? The display is not the same. There is difference in colors intensity (white one has more strong colors and the white is more clear, where the black one seems darker more dim, like used) Or at least it is my impression. I checked both in the maximum brightness and in basic mode.... So after all, not all Edges just differ cause of processor ? Anyone checked it as well ?
Here we have 2 edges- white & gold, and the displayed colors of the white s7e seem to be a little bit more pastel, but it is not a big different. However, under same displaysettings there are some differences.
Btw the white s7e has the Sony Camera sensor, the golden one has Samsungs sensor. Has nothing to do with the display, just wanted to say.
I think i know where is problem- i have damaged screen . Now i can clearly see that yhe edges of the screen have kind of red tint. Similar to tvs that have their screen burned but here is just one color red. So i guess i have two phones that gotta go under warranty. I will post photos tomorrow .
This is normal by nature of amoled or any other type of screens. They just differ by nature. However i agree your point. Newer s7 edge displays have better whites. I left my device for screen replacement and the new one have a brighter and whiter display compared to old one.

search for my amoled threads, I started quite a few during the last years. and I exchanged every galaxy device I bought a few times to get one with a decent screen!
if you place 10 devices side to side, every screen will be little different in regard to tint, uniformity,...
only about 15% are close to perfect, these are the ones cut out from the center of the display wafer during production!

Anyone notice yellowish screen tint on xperia xz?

Theres a picture below comparing screen of my z3+ to xz. I notice a bit yellowish screen of xperia xz.
my display is white like it should be i think...u probably have screen issues and should ask sony whats going on and maybe they will replace the screen.i would take it to waranty.
i compared my XZ display against z5 and i can say that it is more brighter and it has more white-ish tone on the display...z3+ simply CAN'T have BETTER display then newer flagship phones(specaily the XZ)...its not an upgrade then LOL...i would try some restoring and repairing before sending it to waranty just for curosity... but i doubt it would help...just want to let u know my xperience and hope it helped u somehow. Cheers
I do know that my XZ color temperature isn't as cold/blue as my Z3 (D6616) was. I don't have any tools to test, but I believe my XZ is closer to the "proper" 6500K color temp, while my Z3 was like 9000K.
I could be wrong since I can't see yours in person, but could it be possible that your Z3+ has a very cold blue tint that you got used to, and it makes your XZ look yellow? I have a feeling that camera you used to take that picture adjusted its white balance to your Z3+.
I'm trying to take a picture of my Z3 next to my XZ to show an example, but my LG G6 camera can't seem to show what I mean. I did have this issue when I switched from a Nexus 4 to a Nexus 5. I got so used to the Nexus 4's cold blue tint, that I thought my Nexus 5 was yellow and defective. But after I got used to the color temperature of the Nexus 5, I couldn't believe how blue the Nexus 4 was. I've been a tint snob, display whore, and obsessed with white balance ever since.
Here's a picture of my Nexus 4 and 5 side by side. Even though the 5 has the correct white balance, it looks yellow because the camera adjusted the white balance to the 4.
Or maybe the screen on your XZ is in fact defective. I would take it to a mobile store and compare it to iPhones and maybe HTC devices, as these seem to have better white balance than most devices in my opinion.
The XZ does lean a bit more to the warmer color temperature than previous models, specially my Z3 and M4 Aqua, those have a very strong blue tint and I had to increase red and green in settings to compensate.
Can't you adjust the white balance in the display settings?
I have red and green on 0 and blue on 40. It seems to give the best result of white, compared to my PC monitor (IPS). If you go to 50 on blue, it starts getting a blue tint a bit.
If your screen is so yellow you can't even adjust it, then it's defective. Take it to the store and compare.
Keep in mind though, even with IPS, there can be some slight variations from unit to unit in color tint, but not much. It's more common with AMOLED.
Also it's difficult to tell for us via photos, because any camera will compensate at least a bit for the white balance and brightness.
Either way, your eye will get used to it if the screen is not actually defective, and a recommendation would always be to have the balance set leaning more to yellow than blue tint, it's much less straining to your eyes, and after a while it won't look "yellow" any more.
I experienced that when I got the new monitor, it appeared a bit yellow to me, but then my friend (video editor) tested it with one of those devices that tests color accuracy , contrast and white balance and saw that it was almost perfect, and my previous monitor had heavy blue tint that I got used to, which is bad.
I'd go to a store and compare it to one of the units there.

Judging by this photo, it seems to me that you have night mode enabled.
